A cute little coffee shop is a historic downtown Richmond building. I had only a latte, but an excellent one indeed. I hated to drink it and spoil the perfect little design on top (which I cannot do at home). Great atmosphere. Really big place to relax or work in. Good salads and great pastries. Exceptional baristas.

I love what the owners have done to this place. It use to be Irene's dress shop, where I got a few prom dresses back in the day. The atmosphere is relaxed & there are always students studying, which proves it to be adequate in price, but Purdys also excels in quality. Plenty of seating, very clean & they even have live music on Thursday nights. Check out their perka option at the counter of you have a smart phone, you can gain points during your visits and use them toward menu items. When I'm in town visiting family it's the only coffeeshop I visit. They're also the only coffeeshop in Berea or Richmond to offer almond milk and a consistently good coffee or tea. I recommend the chai tea latte with almond milk, if you need more caffeine, make it a dirty chai! (Chai with a shot of espresso) I know they offer vegetarian food options but I haven't tried them yet. The cinnamon muffins are great if you're looking for a pastry! read more

We have been suffering ever since we moved here to Kentucky. Where were the beautiful signature rosetta that tells me the fresh bean juice would engulf my tongue and bring light to a dark, hopeless world? There simply aren't many places around here that actually meet the staggering criteria for a coffee shop: good coffee. Finding this place was a latte dream. The coffee is not only very good and their baristas knowledgeable, but they have a lot of variety, including breakfast food, pastries, and tea. It's also an excellent study place. Saturday mornings get a little crazy, so be prepared for longer waits and likely a rambunctious baby shower being thrown upstairs, but it's a great spot overall. read more

This is the best coffeehouse in Richmond. They offer good quality coffee no matter what your taste is. My favorite drink there is called "wedding cake latte". It's not on the menu, but it is made with vanilla and almond syrups. The only thing I dislike about Purdy's is that the sandwich combo servings are so small and they don't use homemade ingredients. If I wanted a sandwich made out of cheap meijer bread and cheese, I could make it myself for way less than the $6 that Purdy's charges. read more

The decor of this place is amazing. Joe said, "this place looks like a set," when we arrived. The lighting and interior design is impeccable. Great coffee is served and there's a pretty awesome food menu. Biased review coming: To start off, this is my hometown coffee shop, and I must say that I enjoy everything they do here. Great staff who wants to know you and invest in a conversation. The coffee is superb it goes without saying that their other drinks are just as good! Let me also make a mention to something that tends to go under the radar. They also have great pastries and other food options- their almond croissants are the bomb. Being a Richmond local, Purdy's is probably the best thing to happen to Richmond in a while. Nothing is more pleasing than enjoying a delicious Bee keeper latte on Saturday morning. Thanks Purdy's, for being a new favorite tradition between myself, and my daughter. We have tried the BtL salad, the pollo salad, the chicken salad sandwich, a delicious cinnamon roll( covered in cream cheese icing, and yes of course the bee keeper latte has become a craving of mine. The staff is polite, and helpful, the food is fresh, and delicious. While most recipes aren't loaded with ingredients, it's the quality, and how that pair together that really stand out. It's a great place for brunch or lunch. I love eating local and this adorable coffee shop doesn't disappoint. The place is beautiful. The coffee delicious and lots of fun options (dirty chai with heat, sorghum and bourbon). The food looked amazing and the baked goods too. I got a croissant type thing with a dollop of frosting. It was so good warmed up later. My only issue is I was standing away from the counter with nobody in front or behind me and the girl kept pushing me to pick something when I just walked in. I just want to take a minute to decide. I felt like she was rolling her eyes at me the whole time with her attitude. I asked for half and half and she practically huffed "so breve then". Ok. If you want good coffee, food, and environment. Stopped here Saturday around 4pm while driving from Chicago to Gatlinburg and looking for coffee spots on the Roadtrippers app. Staff was incredibly friendly and when we asked for recommendations among the specialty lattes, the suggestions were great--especially the one with bourbon and sorghum! Instead of taking these to go, we stayed in the air conditioning and let the kids play Uno for 15 minutes. Definitely worth the extra 3-4 minutes it adds to your trip rather than going to the chains by the highway! read more
