Eva is amazing! My boyfriend and I are in Hawaii for the first time and I figured snorkeling would be a fun activity. I found a great deal on Groupon and figured we would try it.... I'm so glad that we did. I was expecting this huge group of people to be going like every other tour we have been on so far. I was completely wrong. Eva picked us up at our hotel and to my surprise it wasn't in a giant tour bus/van. From the second we met Eva I was completely comfortable, we lucked out and were the only ones on the snorkeling tour that day. Eva drove us to Hanauma Bay and it was like talking with an old friend. There was no awkward silence or trying to sell us anything extra. It was genuine conversation that was very enjoyable. When we arrived at Hanauma Bay she got us in quickly and smoothly. If we would have went by ourselves it would have been a little overwhelming. After the quick movie you watch Eva met us right outside and we were off! First we went over the proper way to use our gear and what to do if you got water in your mask or if it started to fog up. Not only did she tell us what to do if that were to happen but she also told us different reasons why it was happening so we could change it. She was very educational in a very short period of time and before we knew it we were in the water! The snorkeling was great! Eva swam with us and pointed out some really cool fish. She wasn't hoovering over us or forcing us to follow her. It was really up to us. If we wanted to stay by her we could or if we were comfortable enough we could do our own thing. She also takes pictures of you and will post them on her page so you can tag yourself in them and doesn't charge you $30+ for it :) She was very patient and never made us feel silly or dumb when we were first figuring everything out. I will recommend her to everyone I know. It was truly an awesome experience and I will definitely do another tour with her the next time we come back!!!!! read more

As I look across the vast array of 5 star reviews for Pure Aloha Adventures, I wonder if it even matters to share my wonderful snorkeling experience with Eva in Hanauma Bay, but I'ma do it anyway since she is so amazing. If you are a tentative snorkeler or an experienced mermaid, you are going to appreciate how thoughtful, knowledgeable, and interesting Eva makes your snorkeling adventure. She was the best, and even though the water was really cold, she distracted me enough so that I was able to fully enjoy the experience of swimming with eels, countless fish, turtles, you name it! We booked a paddle boarding lesson and Eva was amazing. Eva is extremely personable and easy going. Even though it is only an hour long class, she didn't count the beach time so you truly get 1 hr on the water. She was quick to point out sea turtles, which was a huge highlight for my wife. I wanted to find a snorkeling excursion that satisfied all 5 of my family members which consisted of my husband and I (non-swimmers) two adult children and my 13 year old. I could not be happier with Pure Aloha Adventures Hanauma Bay Guided Snorkel package. Among us, we had those who didn't know how to swim to those very comfortable in the water. We didn't want a long boat trip (we got seasick last time) to take us to a snorkeling reef and take up a whole day. This package only takes small groups(up to 5) which was perfect for our family size and only took 1.5-2 hours leaving us the whole day to enjoy more of the Bay or do other sightseeing. First, Eva who answered all my questions before booking highly recommended the 7:30 slot (as I was going to book the 1:00 as my kids like to sleep in). So glad I listened as parking was easy and the beach was less crowded. We had the absolute most patient guide, Nyle, who texted us the morning of introducing herself, and to make sure we know exactly where she'd be when we arrived. After checking in and watching the required video, she was very patient showing us how to use the snorkeling gear and guided us into the water, allowed us time to get comfortable, and guided us into sections of the Bay as she was assessing our comfort level before deciding to go to the next section. She was patient throughout the whole process and made sure no one was left behind. Everyone was very pleased with the experience and a good guide made it all that much more memorable. Ava was fabulous! I am so glad we decided to get a guided tour as part of our pre wedding celebration. She was so friendly and sweet and really took her time to explain and teach us everything we needed to know. I am pregnant and she was careful to tailor everything for my safety as well. She has a great bubbly personality and very knowledgeable. She was able to show us things that we wouldn't have seen otherwise. And she has a go-pro to take some awesome shots of The wild life you see and of u while snorkeling! It's totally worth the extra $ for those photos! My husband and I were honeymooning in HI and went snorkeling for the first time. Eva personally picked up my group of three and took us to Hanuama Bay for a great snorkeling adventure on the busiest day of the year. I went back and forth searching for what company to use for my snorkeling tour. There were numerous shuttles to get me there, and lots of cheap optons. But they were cheap for a reason! Eva's tour was well worth the additional price. I got great photos, she was very nice, and identified fish when I asked her what they were. The best part is, you skip the Hanauma Bay line! That ALONE is worth the extra money to use Eva. Don't bother with the cheap shuttle tours they offer in the back of the pamphlets you find at hotels. Go with Pure Aloha, it's a blast. I will definitely be signing up for a tour with even the next time I'm in Oahu. Hopefully a SCUBA one! read more

I was visiting Oahu from Maui and wanted to do something I've never done. Pure Aloha came highly recommended so I decided to book a stand up paddle tour and it was awesome! We met Eva at Ala Moana Beach and it was easy to find her as she sends you a text to let you know exactly where she is on the beach. The beach lesson was thorough and gave me the right amount of confidence for when we got into the water. The water was calm and easy to learn in, we even saw a few sea turtles!!! I'm only comfortable in extremely shallow waters where I can stand up, and feel the sand beneath! We did the snorkeling tour and it was fantastic. Our guide picked us up at our hotel and since it was just me and my husband it ended up being a personalized adventure! She was very patient, and since both of us had some first-time apprehension, this was much appreciated. Hanauma Bay is lovely, though a bit crowded. We saw fish during our snorkel and we were very relaxed by the end of our tour. I wish I could remember the name of our guide, but I will say she was very nice and that it felt more personal than a typical company tour. read more

We did the snorkeling at Hanauma Bay with Eva last month. Thanks to the reviews of other yelpers. Eva was very pleasant. She offers hotel pick up, we didn't take her offer because we had our own rental car. The experience was great! It was our first time so I really had nothing to compare it to. We saw lots of fishes and turtles. I wish it was offered for a longer period of time though, you get so into it and then it's over. The downside to this place, the waters are very shallow, so a lot of the time our bellies and legs were getting scraped by the coral reef. I would like it better if it was actually in a different place, or in deeper water. Also the area got super crowded just as we arrived, so if you guys are doing it pick the earlier time that Eva offers even if you have to wake up earlier. She also offers a picture package for $29. We didn't get that because as you may realize, everyone in Hawaii offers you pictures and we had already spent $100 in pics and we just couldn't allow ourselves to spend more. But we did get to see them and they were great! read more

Holly was our snorkeling instructor and she was really nice! Eva picked us up at the hotel and took us to Hanauma Bay and back to our next destination. The beach fee is $7.50 per person but it was so worth it. The tram ride is $1 down and $1.25 back up but the walking distance is not much. My family and I walked down and up with ease. I enjoyed my time with Pure Aloha and I would go snorkeling with them again! Holly took pictures with a GoPro throughout the snorkeling experience and she will soon sent it through google drive! Alia made my first snorkel experience AMAZING! 5 STARS! My greatest fear is the ocean, so going snorkeling was an extremely frightening concept for me. But who visits Hawaii and doesn't snorkel? No one. When in Rome, am I right? Alia was very reassuring before we even got into the water. She was so kind, and calm which helped me relax. She gave us a short demo on snorkeling tips to make sure we were prepared going into the water. She went out of her way to point out all of the awesome fish we came across. She also went out of her way to take AMAZING photos of us snorkeling and of all the sea creatures. I definitely recommend purchasing the photo package. I was so preoccupied with swimming and avoiding the coral, that I wouldn't have gotten photos nearly as good as what Alia took. I was sooooo happy with my experience. My boyfriend Brian also had a fantastic time and really loved free diving...Thank you Alia for teaching us to do that! She actually gave us the experience and confidence t to do another snorkel trip later in our vacation out in the deep water (much scarier). I can't praise Alia and Pure Aloha Adventures enough. My boyfriend and I had our first snorkeling experience with Eva last week. She did an amazing job showing us all the ropes. We were in the water for a good hour, and she got some awesome pictures on her GoPro. As a first time snorkeler, I felt safe the entire time. I would highly recommend using Pure Aloha for anyone who is planning to snorkel for the first time. Morning slots are the best because there will be less sand kicked up, thus better picture quality. Also, apparently the morning is when you'll most likely be able to see a sea turtle. We saw two octupus and a pair of moray eels (think little mermaid), and Eva took videos. I waited almost a year to write this review. I snorkeled for the first time with Eva last April. It was a very good experience. She came to pick me up at my hostel at the scheduled time. There were two other customers in the car. It was a small group which I liked. I was a bit nervous at first, but Eva was great and she made sure I felt comfortable and told me to follow her in the water and showed me where to look for the beautiful fish. She also helped me take some pictures in the water. I enjoyed the tour very much. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to experience snorkeling for the first time. The pick up/drop off service is very helpful for a tourist like myself. If I were to stay in Hawaii for longer I'd go back to her and try other activities that her company offers. read more

I was in Honolulu for the first time, me and my spouse wanted to try snorkeling and we set it up with Eva. She picked us up at our hotel in Waikiki right on time and we headed to Hanauma Bay at 7 AM. After a quick video we started snorkeling and it was an amazing experience. We saw a school of fish and other prety fishes. Eva really knew the spot where there would be beautiful fishes, even if you were afraid of deep waters, she knew shallow places where we could snorkel and see fishes. My sister and I went on 3/12/16 for the snorkeling lesson at 7am. No Eva!! I was disappointed because I read so much about her. She has an assistant though, Hollis, who was our instructor. Nice young lady...very patient. It was very windy, water was chilly and a bit murky, so we didn't see any turtles. It was worth it for someone who has never snorkled. This review is for the snorkeling. Our guide was Hollis. It was our first time snorkeling but Hollis was very patient with us and really took the time to teach us. We never felt the pressure to be in a rush or to ask questions. Hollis is very familiar with Hanauma Bay -- she knew exactly where to take us to find the most fishes and corals (where people without a guide would not usually go). My girls (ages 16 and 11) opted to go deeper in the bay with Hollis while we stayed by the shore -- they were very comfortable being with her by themselves and really enjoyed their time with her as they saw schools of fishes and lots of corals! Hollis took beautiful pictures of us too - she goes out of her way just to capture us in action! Thanks so much for making our family's first snorkeling experience a moment we will forever remember! My family enjoyed snorkeling so much with Hollis (please see above review) that my girls, ages 11 and 16, wanted to try stand-up paddleboarding with them, as Hollis had mentioned that they also offer lessons. I called the company and Eva was able to accommodate my girls for the lesson. I had asked for a Groupon price but Eva says they do not have one for the SUP, but she offered to throw in the pictures for free - very nice of her! I had also mentioned that we had just returned our rental car and was asking for directions to get to the beach where we would meet up in the morning. And what did Eva do?! She graciously offered to pick us all up from our hotel - wow, that was very generous of her!!! Eva picked my family up at the hotel, even though just our 2 girls were doing the lessons (so we could be there to watch them). Eva is very friendly and has such a pleasant personality. The lesson was for an hour. First, Eva taught the girls step-by-step the basics of SUP before heading into the water. She made sure the girls knew exactly what to do before actually trying it in the water. Once she thought they were ready, they went right into the water. In a matter of minutes, my girls looked like they have been doing SUP for a long time! Eva's instructions really helped them - they did not, even once, fall off their board! Eva made sure that she stayed with both girls the whole time. And since we had mentioned that we unfortunately did not see any turtles during our snorkeling (because we came right after a storm), Eva made sure to take the girls paddleboarding to the area where the turtles were! My girls were thrilled to see the turtles! Eva took great pictures of my girls with the beautiful view of the beach! When we got into our hotel, we rented a paddleboard, and off did my girls go, applying everything they learned from Eva! And again, not once did they fall, even with a much stronger current this time. My girls really learned a lot from Eva - she was very patient and clicked with our girls, which made them want to go scuba diving with her (review re scuba diving to follow)! We just finished a guided snorkel tour of Hanauma bay with Eva. I cannot say enough great things about this adventure and her. Everything was super smooth. We couldn't find parking so parked in the recommended residential area. Eva Called us early to see whether we could get in and picked us up from our car. Since we were the only 2 people with her for that day she took us to all the areas where we could spot all kinds of ocean friends. We saw super cool fish, an eel, and even turtles! Her knowledge and experience were super appreciated and greatly valued. Definitely recommend her if you are planning on visiting this beautiful habitat.
