My husband and I just got back from Hawaii. We had the absolute time of our lives. My husband and I had a private lesson of paddle board with Eva and a couple days later I scuba dived with her too. What can I say...she is an absolute fantastic instructor. She is fun, full of knowledge, and had a great way of teaching even when you have no idea what to do. The day we were going to paddle board I had a great first impression of her since she went above and beyond for us. She noticed that "our meeting spot" was crowded and asked us if we did not mind to relocate (which we did not). When we met at the new location was quiet literally just us which was much appreciated. We had a great time with Eva. Great instruction and the weather and location was perfect for kids and us who are beginners​. So relaxing to be out there. The session was from 8-9am. She took great pictures which she shared with us later to download from a link which was very nice!!! She even let my brother (who did not sign up for the class) try on the board during the last few minutes. The only thing was that the session finished at 9am, but the next people did not come until 10, so the paddle boards stayed on the shore without being used for an hour. It would have been nice if we were allowed to use it for few extra minutes (but may be i am asking for too much). We will be back next year and do it again. read more

Hollis was an amazing teacher/guide. Although it was not my first time snorkeling, my son and niece were beginners. Hollis was patient, knowledgeable and really fun. She brought us to so many pretty spots on the reef and brought a few small sea creatures from the sea floor for the kids to hold. I can't imagine things going any smoother with a 10 and 12 year old in the water than my morning did. Trying this on our own with rental equipment would not have provided them with that great experience or the confidence to be extremely comfortable snorkeling the rest of the trip. Hanauma Bay was beautiful. I suggest checking the tides and getting there as early as you can. We were there at 7 am to beat the crowd, but as an added bonus entry and parking is free before 7am. Make sure to take the time to go for a ride along the coast to see some beautiful ocean cliff views (turn right as you leave the parkinglot) read more

We booked a snorkeling tour at haunama bay with Ava. They honored the groupon price but I didnt buy through groupon. We were a group of 3 (2 adults and 1child) and that wasnt an option on groupon. I was going to buy 3 but only can use one groupon per booking..so they honored prices advertised. I didnt even ask.. She just offered. Anyways..back to the snorkeling. You will see many people snorkling on their own with rented gear. But I definitely recommend the tour if its your first time. She will show you what you will see, she will point them out, she will take you where you are comfortable, and she will discuss the reef and keep you off of it. We saw people just standing on it.. they should be asked to leave..especially after you just watched a video about stayin OFF it! Anyways.. Ava was AMAZING with our daughter..shes 10 and had never snorkeled before. She was a little nervous but Ava said "were partners" and our daughter swam by her the whole time.. We saw plenty of fish.. ava used our camera to take pix of us.. And we were offered to keep the gear for the day.. Unfotunately we were flying out so couldnt stay. Every thing about this was great!! Yeah you can rent gear and go on your own but for a little more, if its your first time,..take the trip with pure aloha adventures... We had a blast. And got some great underwater pics! read more

What an amazing experience! Being that I am not a surfer I thought going with a Stand Up Paddle Board tour might be more my style. I could not have been more right. Eva is patient and met me at my level of comfort. The boards were brand new and the experience was unbelievable. The location was something out of a Hawaiian movie shoot. I would recommend Eva to anyone who loves to be in the outdoors. Next time I am in Hawaii I will look her up again. Eva obviously knows the island like the back of her hand and have us great advice for other fun places to check out. After looking at different companies, the thing that stood out the most was the name Eva. So my husband and I decided that we would try Pure Aloha Adventures, and hope to finally meet this person named Eva. Once we got to the bay, paid the entrance fee, we waited by the gift shop. Not even 15 seconds after we put our stuff down, we heard this person calling our name and the first thing we saw was her big smile and knew immediately this was Eva. She asked if we paid for our admission to the park yet, and if we had not, she would take us right to the front of the long line that was already formed.... Unfortunately we had already waited in the long line, but next time it is a must to let Eva take you to the front of the line. After watching the required video before we entered the bay, Eva had all the geared required for snorkeling, all we needed was some bathing suits and some suntan lotion. Upon entering the water, Eva gave us a quick but informative rundown of how to properly breathe through your snorkels and when to use your flippers. As we snorkeled through the water, she pointed out many different fish and marine life to us. We even saw a rare sea urchin that I have since forgot the name of. Eva made an inexperienced first time snorkeler feel like I've done it many times before. The money was definitely worth it and I highly recommend Pure Aloha Adventures! read more

We went as a family with Pure Aloha Adventure for the Honolulu Sail and Snorkel with Turtles. Eva was our guide and she was amazing. She sent us clear directions on what to expect and where to meet the boat. Once on the boat she made sure we understood everything that was going to happen. Once in the water she would point out any turtles or sea life. Eva is so easy to be around and our girls, 8 and 10, immediately took to her. She helped them with any issues in or out of the water. Eva even helped care for them and made them comfortable when they felt a bit nauseated on the return trip home. The pictures she took, even on a murky day, were so clear and such wonderful treasures. Eva was a great snorkel guide! The group consisted of me and my boyfriend and another couple. We signed up for 10:30AM and received a call at 9:40AM from Eva to check up on us. I let her know the parking lot was full and she picked us up and dropped us off back to our car afterward! Make sure to come early to allow time for situations like this. She let us keep our cell phones and car keys in her van so we didn't have to pay for rental lockers. Best of all, we were able to skip the hour long line with her to get into Hanauma Bay. We had never snorkeled before and me and another guy didn't know how to swim. Eva patiently taught us how to snorkel and gave us flotation devices. I was struggling with swimming, but Eva helped me out a lot by taking my arm and pulling me through the shallow reefs. I was definitely terrified but still had fun and felt safe with her around. She took us out to several reefs and I was able to see tons of fish despite being afraid to put my head under the water. The 53 underwater pictures she took with her Go Pro was definitely worth the $29. read more

Wish I was able to give more than five stars. If you are trying to decide which of the many companies to book with for adventure in Hawaii look no further. Eva was fantastic. I opted for the private paddle board lesson with photos and it was top notch. Eva is terrific, an excellent teacher and all around fun person to spend a couple of hours with in the water. I got fantastic photos from her that I wasn't even aware she was taking most of the time. She made sure to challenge me with executing all of the fundamental skills while in the water and also kept a sharp eye out for marine life to make the experience even more fun. I went on the morning snorkeling trip to Hanauma Bay led by Eva and had a fabulous time! Eva was so thoughtful, patient and knowledgeable of the area. Even if you have experience snorkeling, I would recommend going on this tour because Eva makes an effort to not only find sea turtles (we saw one) and beautiful fish, she does a great job of making sure we don't get caught up in bad currents so I was able to focus on just enjoying the experience. Hanauma Bay itself is BEAUTIFUL so I definitely recommend this tour just for that at the very least. Definitely get the photos -Eva took some great ones of me swimming. I highly recommend Eva and Pure Aloha Adventures! My boyfriend and I recently did the guided snorkel tour in Hanauma Bay with Eva. I am SO glad I had a very patient, knowledgeable and experienced guide such as herself, especially since I am a weak swimmer and it was my very first time snorkeling. I wouldn't have wanted my first snorkel adventure to be with any other guide! Eva picked us up right in front of our hotel to go to Hanauma Bay and found our group was small and intimate. It was a nice surprise and awesome for the price we paid! Eva was super professional, yet chill and easy to talk to. She showed and clearly explained to us how to put on and use the gear she provided (snorkel set, fins, booties, and optional floatie) -all of which was in very good condition. Before we went further into the ocean, Eva made sure everyone got a feel of the water that day and I got that time to practice breathing and swimming. I admit I was super nervous, but Eva reminded me to breathe with my mouth and relax. She even held my hand while guiding me in the water until I was comfortable enough to swim on my own (KUDOS!). Eventually I became very comfortable snorkeling on my own. Eva always made sure everyone and I were okay and directed us to areas where the water was calmer. She showed us she was very knowledgeable of the area/water and always pointed out the cool marine life to us. Even though the water was pretty wild that day (it's supposed to be usually calm), I can say I survived snorkeling for my 1st time. I highly recommend you go with Pure Aloha to have a fantastic stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) adventure in Honolulu- take their private lesson in their perfect location to learn or get better at paddleboarding. Magic paddleboards + magic instruction = a wonderful morning SUPing with my teen son. I call it Pure Aloha Adventures magic as I previously tried paddleboarding with less success (even on the same trip). On their tour, I stood on the paddleboard the entire time (even getting back up after a break) and even got to experience turtle watching from a SUP. Bri and Eva are super helpful and friendly instructors. Eva was able to give me some special tips geared for me, a not-so-flexible nor well balanced middle-aged woman. My guide, Eva, was excellent! Knowledgeable about the reef in Hanauma Bay and its wildlife, where to find certain types of fish (and turtles if they are out!), and the best practices of snorkeling. She will watch how you are currently snorkeling and give you pointers that can help. We saw beautiful fish on the early morning 7:30a tour. She brought a GoPro waterproof camera and sent me the photos afterward - amazing! Later in the week, I signed up for a Paddleboarding lesson with Eva in Ala Mauna Beach Park. We went over the basics on land and then went out to the water as I felt comfortable with the board. She gave me pointers of how to adjust my balance and pointed out sea turtles as they swam near us. It was a great experience to feel the wind in your hair just gliding over the water. I didn't fall once! I highly recommend booking with this company - their tour sizes don't get too large to where you miss out on the information and one-on-one feel of the instruction. TLDR: Best experience we had during our week-long trip in O'ahu! My girlfriend literally doesn't know how to swim - she was even afraid of putting her head under water before the snorkeling trip.
