I bought a Groupon for "hair loss" treatment which is priced at 400$ regular price at this place thinking if its worth it i would return... safe to say i would never recommend this place to someone... first off i am baffled at the pricing of this salon. The entire salon is out of date and looks NOTHING like the pictures. When spending this kind of money (Groupon or not) you would think they would walk you through what they are doing to you and all the many products they are using, but that didn't happen. It felt like i got 4 diff shampoos and a rough head massage and then washed out. There was no music to relax to, no tea or extra things that make this type of pricing worth paying when going to a salon like this... when getting my hair dried my hair was completely nappy... i was thinking the whole point of this service was hair loss and red light therapy which was about 3 minutes worth in total.... When checking out i was given no option but to tip 15% of my original price package (total 800$) so was forced to tip 135$ for a Groupon that was completely underwhelming Will not be returning or recommending to any friends read more

I used to come here all the time in 2023, for the scalp scrub treatment. I actually came here once a month for an entire year because it was so relaxing! But I'm not sure what happened. The girl who would do my scrubs was not assigned to me one time, and I got assigned a different girl who did not tend to me like the girl I had always come to. For instance, towards the end of my scalp scrub, the girl I always went to would leave me for roughly 10 minutes and join the steam bubble they encapsulate your head in for ultimate relaxation. But when I got assigned to a different girl, she did not provide this service, and when I asked about it, she said "I did steam your hair." But it was just with the handheld steamer. She did not encapsulate my head in the steam bubble contraption, which I was disappointed about because that was literally one of the highlights of the appointments. But then fast forward and the last time I went was December 2024 and I haven't been back. I'm not sure why the salon changed everything but now they cater more to nails than hair, which is confusing because it is still called Pure Hair Spa. Now the singular hair station is in the very back. When they used to be multiple hair stations right up front. And I used to be put in a nice spacious room for my appointment, but when I went in December 2024, I was put in a room the size of a closet. It was borderline claustrophobic how tiny/cramped it was. I know that they always provided nail services, but the scope of the salon has completely changed from when they opened, and now the nail stations have taken the place of the hair stations in the front. I had heard great things from friends and family about the hair spa and their scalp treatments, so I went in with fairly high expectations. Unfortunately, my first experience fell far short. The appointment began with a scalp camera inspection, which I expected, but I was quickly rushed into the treatment room. What followed was essentially a long series of hair washes. I was hoping for a relaxing scalp massage, but that never really happened. The "shoulder massage" felt more like oil being rubbed on my skin, and most of the time was spent combing out my hair after washing rather than addressing my scalp. At the end, the blow dry was minimal--just a quick dry with no styling (there's even a sign stating they don't style)--and I was hurried to the front desk. When I asked about seeing my scalp on the camera again, the response was, "Well, it's clean now!" Only when I insisted did she show me, and the difference was barely noticeable. Finally, when paying, the cashier asked how I was paying for the tip. I found this inappropriate--tipping should reflect the level of service received, and unfortunately the service did not merit it. We got the 60 minute spring special scalp treatment. It was easy to schedule the appointment online using their website and we could book on behalf of others. However, no instruction was given prior to the appointment about whether we should wash our hair or not. The appointment started with seeing our magnified scalp on the screen. They washed our hair a couple of times, conditioned it, gave a head and shoulders massage, and blew dry our hair at the end. I wish they showed us our scalp again at the end to show the difference. First time trying this new treat with my girlfriend. A groupon deal is $99. We called ahead to make reservation and they made a mistake on the date. Luckily it was on email notification so I could call back right away to fix it. The place is on Villa, very easy to find, just around the corner from the parking structure. There were two women staff inside when we checked in, one older lady who speaks mandarin and a younger lady who speaks English and acts as the spa specialist and the receiptionist. We were asked not to wash our hair the night before. They started by using a machine to check on our scalp conditions. The machine's screen then showed the magnified images of our scalps and roots of hair. The specialist explained if certain part of our scalp was dry or oily, etc. Then we moved on to a room with two beds. We were asked to change to top to their spa robe and then lied down. An eye mask was applied to warm our eyes. I felt that they used something to massage our scalps gently, then washed our hair and maybe conditioned it? We got a short shoulder massage and a scalp massage is all I remember. After about an hour's pampering, we were asked to move back to the front room with washed hair and then they blow dried our hair. Service was good as I was constantly asked if the pressure was ok, if the water temperature was fine, and how dry did I want my hair during blow dry. I have to say I didn't feel very special about the treatments, it's like a hair wash and a small massage. But after the blow dry, I do feel my hair is smoother and softer. I just think that spending 100 bucks without a haircut is probably not the best value package compared to other options like a spa or a full haircut service. But that's just me.... read more

First off the hype is real! I saw Pure Hair Spa on Tiktok. My boyfriend loves to get his head massage. This was the perfect birthday present for him. So I booked it for him. I will go in more detail about the booking later. I don't want to spoil the experience of the Scalp Therapy Treatment but all I can say is it was worth the wait and was super relaxing. I'm used to calling to schedule an appointment so scheduling an appointment on social media was different but times are changing. Once I went to Pure Hair Spa Instagram, I messaged the spa to book an appointment. I was immediately messaged back and the planning began. The person that was helping me was super helpful. You have the option to provide your credit card info. or Zelle the spa $40 for a deposit. I Zelled the money since it was easier for me and I assume the spa as well. I booked the appointment for myself and boyfriend to do it at the same time. I received a call that one of the tech called in sick. Pure Hair spa was so accommodating and worked something out for us. Our appointment's at 2pm so they suggested that one of us go at 1pm and the other goes at 2pm. I ended up going at 1pm and my boyfriend went at 2pm. When I arrived at Pure Hair Spa I was immediately greeted by two lovely ladies. The first thing she did was check my scalp out with a little gadget. EWWWW my scalp needed some help. Thank god I was getting this treatment done. After she looked at my scalp it was time to get that scalped cleaned. The whole hour is solely focused on your scalp which not a lot of spa's do. Like I said before I won't go into the experience because I want everyone to be surprised. At the end they do blow dry your hair so your not leaving with wet hair. My boyfriend was up next and I have to say he fully enjoyed his birthday gift! At a high level, it is definitely relaxing but it seemed a bit rushed and not as thorough as the other reviews stated. We arrived and were shown magnifying images of our scalp. We were then given tops to change into. After changing, we did not receive the eye warming mask that other folks mentioned so we were awake given the light in the room. After, there was an initial scalp massage and then they washed our hair a few times. After washing our hair, there was a treatment put in which is when we received a neck and shoulder massage (not hands as others mentioned). After our hair was blow dryed. We asked to see our scalps again, mine was clean but my husband still had dry skin and build up that he was hoping would have been removed with this treatment. I did enjoy my time with Angela as she did make sure my scalp was clean. I've gone here separate times for nails and I had a great experience with both Karley and Winnie. The one in the picture was done by Winnie. Recently went for the 60 minute hair detox and lash extension. The hair spa was a great experience, it was extremely relaxing, and it was interesting getting to see my scalp on a screen. I wish there was a bit of a deeper consultation done. There was not much instructions on how to prepare for the treatment so I ended up washing my hair the night before. Next time I will probably try to wash my hair 2 days in advance and see if there is any difference. The lash extension turned out better than I expected. I wish I was given some instructions on how to properly take care of them and whether not a follow-up would be needed for fill-ins. This was my first experience getting lash extensions and I shared that while I was choosing the style that I wanted. There was also another review that talked about their mandatory tipping of 15% or higher. I believe on their website they stated that tipping is based on overall patients satisfaction for the quality of service. I was confused why the tipping was based off of the original price ($199) when we were paying for the promo price ($59 since my friend and I did the two treatment promo). So my friend and I ended up doing $20 each :/ Overall, content with the services that are provided. I think it is extremely convenient to have all these services in one location and there are a few things that could be improved. I thought it was a super easy way of scheduling an appt. She told me the earliest appt with a time and I Zelled a $20 deposit. On the day of my appt I showed up and was sat down in the chair to see what my scalp would need. We were able to see that I had some dry areas and the person said we would do a hydrating treatment. She took me back to the washing room and I took off my shoes and laid on the bed. She offered me a blanket and an eye mask. She first starts massaging your scalp while it is dry. After that she begins to wash it. You get a scalp massage and a partial neck and shoulder massage. Honestly it was so soothing that I'm not even sure how many things were put in my hair but my hair was feeling like and soft right after. When I tell you I'll be sharing this place with my friends, that means I loved it. Can't wait to come back. I love hair spas! They're so relaxing. First they examine your scalp and show you how much buildup, dandruff, oil, and other stuff that you have in your hair. Their camera is so clear! You literally see everything. After they go through that first process, they will bring you to your designated room and ask if you would like to keep your shirt on or change into one of their shirts. My recommendation is just wear their shirt because it's comfier especially when they give you a shoulder and neck massage, remember it depends on which you choose not every package is the way I'm describing it. Some might be a little bit more basic and some might be more extensive. Not only do they give you a comfortable massage, they also give your scalp the necessary massage it's been missing and lacking. What I really enjoyed what that they used kerastase products to help with your hair's growth and health. It leaves your hair smelling good and fresh, while help you grow beautiful lengths. I wanted to try out a hair spa after seeing them all over social media! Luckily, I was able to find this place after some research. I had high hopes! I initially called to make an appointment for a Sunday morning and once I arrived, it looked as though I was not in the calendar. No one was at the front desk to greet customers. After almost 20 min, a few employees came in and were suprised to see me and suprised that I had an appointment. It seems their system did not show that I had an appointment. I never received an email confirmation since I did not book through their online portal. Later on, they said they "found my appointment" from looking up my phone number. The hair specialist sat me down and provided a quick initial viewing of my scalp and massaged my hair and scalp with oils to start. I felt that additional explanation would have been appreciated as to what I was seeing, but there was not much discussion. She then showed me to a specialized room and I was given a robe to put over my clothes. Laying on the massage table, she started with the hair cleansing process massaged my scalp and neck. The ambience within the room was very pleasant. It was relaxing! She shampooed, conditioned, and applied a mask to my hair. The misting machine and spray were calming and gentle. She also provided a heated eye mask. Once complete, she brought me back to the inital chair and proceeded to blowdry my hair. I was hoping to see the results of the pampering, but she never went back with the microscopic camera to show me. At this time, several other customers came in for the same scalp appointment and I saw how they were provided detailed explanations of their scalp issues and resolutions for them. While my hair at the end of the appointment felt lighter, I wasn't sure how much it really affected my scalp and overall hair health. I am skeptical if it is worth it to come again. read more

Cathy did my hair. A deep moisturizing session for an hour. She did a very good job. I never had a scalp massage like that. She scanned my hair and asked me questions and helped diagnose problematic areas in my hair, which I really do appreciate! She also gave me advice on how to treat the area. We had a nice 45 min deep clean of my hair and ended it with a very relaxing message and hair dry. She also gave me this warm eye mask to help me relax and unwind. Decided to give the viral scalp spa treatment a try and it's very relaxing but I think they miss the mark with explaining ways to improve your routine. They start off with showing your scalp with the camera & finding sensitive areas and whether your scalp is oily/dry. They then take you to a private room and perform an amazing and relaxing scalp treatment including an eye mask, massages, using various tools, and double shampooing. Afterwards they put some products in and do a rough blow dry. I would say my hair definitely felt clean afterwards but I didn't see any visible differences. May 10th 2024 Today was my first time going to hair spa ever and I can say it will not be last. I had scheduled my appointment through Instagram and they were so patient and kind to work around my busy schedule. Once scheduled it was required I sent a $40 deposit through Zelle which I had no problem with since it counts towards your service. Finding the location was easy, and there is lots of free parking. Shop was very clean and well kept. The only thing I would recommend is for them to apply some type of privacy screen on the window. Once they do the scalp analysis they take you back to a private room where you put on a provided robe and slip into the service bed. If you are larger than a size large, the robe will not fit. No big deal though, they provide additional covering. They have soothing music in the background and well the process is something you need to experience for yourself. After they are done they blow dry your hair and show you the after results. I just really wish they would do a blowout or some type of styling after lol. My hair was super frizzy but at least it was clean. I will 100% be going back and will be doing a longer service time. Everyone was super sweet and made this an amazing experience. read more

So I've been going here for a while now, and I never had a bad experience until yesterday. In the past, I always appreciated the great, affordable deals and specials they have for their 60 minute scalp treatments. I've brought friends, my partner, etc. because of the great experience I had in the past. However, I was so taken aback by their mandatory tipping policy and the way they went about it. Don't get me wrong -- I was planning on tipping anyways. Let me explain: so my total for my treatment yesterday was $69. It was marketed at $79 but I was told if I bring a friend it would be $69. I was like great! My session was normal. I go to pay, and I tip $14. About 20% tip considering my total was $69. I tell my friend to be careful about the tipping options they have pre-loaded because apparently the original price of our scalp treatment was $199, so the 15% minimum tip would be like $30 if it was based on the original price. The person working proceeds to tell my friend that it is required to tip 15% of the ORIGINAL price of the service and not the amount we paid for. So my friend was basically forced to pay $30 tip when her service was $79. That's damn near 40% tip??? I was so in shock that I had to google if it's legal to require tip in California and lo and behold, it ISN'T. This new tipping policy they have is honestly wild because I've never heard of having to tip on the original price of something before. I'm super sad because I loved going here, but the way they're going about it is not cool. Raise your prices and be more transparent about it then instead of trying to market as an affordable, great deal kinda place and then require tip which is literally illegal. Head spa, scalp facial, scalp care, or however you name it, I had my first experience at Pure Hair Spa! I found their Groupon deal for my friend and I and we booked through their account on Xiao Hong Shu (小红书). I initially tried to call a few times to make the appointment but always reached their voicemail. It is definitely tailored towards those who speak Mandarin so if you don't speak it, I do recommend going with someone who speaks Mandarin. They started us off with a consultation where they did the scalp analysis. They go over how my scalp health looks like and what products they will be using because of that. Because I had an oily and sensitive scalp they recommended the Milbon line. I was excited to try this because all my hairstylists (who are also Asian) recommended this brand but I never got around to buying it. My friend who also has an oily scalp also used Milbon. Then we were brought into a room with two beds (since we requested to be in the same room together). They had a little clothing rack and shelves to hang up your jacket, bags, or put your jewelry which was nice. Once we laid down they massaged our scalp using a couple different tools and their hands. Next they shampooed our hair with thorough massaging and lathering. It was nice they checked to see if the water was a good temperature for us, and covered our collar area with towels so our shirts don't get wet. She actually shampooed our hair twice to make sure it was extra clean. Also she asked if there was anywhere specifically itchy so she can rub it a bit more. She used a typical head/scalp massager and her fingers during this. After shampooing, she put a scalp treatment on my hair which will help with oil control and sebum. She also put a hair mask since she said the ends of my hair were dry. She steamed it and put a cover on which supposedly helps it penetrate faster for about 10-15minutes. Finally, after rinsing out our hair we were brought back outside. She sprayed air/oxygen (not too sure my Mandarin is very elementary lol) on my scalp and then sprayed a scalp serum by Milbon onto my hair. She then used an LED light tool over my scalp before starting to blow out my hair. It was a simple straight blowout and she finished it off with some hair oil. I left feeling really refreshed! The following days I noticed it took maybe a half day longer than normal for my hair to turn oily again. Not a drastic difference I was hoping for, but maybe a more realistic change. It was a really relaxing experience and something fun to try. It kind of seems like a one time relaxing spa like experience you would go to, unlike a regular facial where you see a clear difference. I also wonder if I just bought the products myself, if I could achieve similar results. But I would like to try to go back one more time to see if I see a difference from going more regularly. TLDR; scheduling the appointment was difficult at first, but overall a great first time experience, really thorough and relaxing. I came here after hearing all the buzz about scalp treatments in California. They also have a new client discount. TLDR; Relaxing scalp treatment with massage + view of scalp via small camera. Minimal explanation and no follow ups. The treatment started with a view of my scalp. It was pretty fun seeing my scalp. The specialist explained that my scalp was sensitive and dry, and that I would get a hydration mask for my scalp. She took me into the treatment room where I took my shoes off and laid under a blanket. This was quite relaxing with calming music. The neck and scalp massage was amazing. The used a scalp massager/exfoliator while washing my hair. Then they applied the hydration mask and left me in the room with my head under a steamer. They came back and washed my hair, then had me sit outside to have my hair dried. My hair did feel very clean, but not sure what difference the treatment made since they did not use the camera to look at my scalp again. There was also no follow up advice on how to better take care of my scalp. I booked through Groupon and called the week of to schedule an appointment and they had availability. I had a great experience, they asked if I was open to moving my appointment up by a few minutes. I got a chance to see which parts of my scalp was enflamed and they got to work. I'm not sure what they use during the shampoo session but they use a few kerastase products while blow drying.
