She gave me advice and tips so I decided to come back, to have a more thorough consultation with her about what she thought was best for my skin. She's an expert. Very kind and accommodating. If I could give this salon a 6 star I would ... I came to Marjan post pregnancy to treat discoloration under my eyes , freckles and more ... after just two treatments my skin has fully cleared. Marjan is so caring and loving. Post treatment I was a bit nervous due to swelling but supper happy with result. I want to update, that inspite of Marjan giving excuses about electrolysis.. it is a fact that , she created new hair growth, and the existing hairs were not removed permanently.. infact they grew back thicker. It has nothing to do with genes or hormones. She claims electrolysis removes hair permanently.. but the way she applies it to your body, she makes sure, it comes back.. so her business can run for the whole year. She also told me to buy a new package when the current package was not completed.. and refused to administer the already_paid_sessions, unless I bought the new package. I am a client there and you don't have any physicians there, you were performing LHE laser on me and I later on found out estheticians cannot perform such service under law of Califonia Stateboard. If you have a physicians there, what are their names? Suggest everyone before coming in do a little bit of research. Be aware, packages are not refundable. Steer clear... I paid the consultation fee for LHE hair removal. Marjan took one look at my skin (after asking my ethnicity) and told me it's not for me. Keep in mind I've done laser for YEARS and am olive with dark hair (yes, I know LHE is not laser). I've never had any adverse reaction, but Marjan did not even want to try, not even a patch sample. She wanted me to do electrolysis. "That still exists?" was my knee jerk response. Moreover, I was put off by the treatment I received. Front desk was kind, but Marjan was not friendly or warm at all. After 12 minutes of talking with her (almost the same amount of time I spent in the waiting room), I was sent packing, at a loss of the consultation fee. Note: the consult fee is at least $30, but can't be sure - so much time has passed because I wanted to write a calm review. I left feeling robbed. I took time away from my job to pay someone for absolutely nothing but rudeness. However, I believe that getting money from people this way (dirty money) will only bring negative results into your life. read more

I bought one microdermabrasion session from Groupon. The session was surprisingly fast -- it only took around 30mins. I also just laid on the bed and the session began. It was a bit cold, and I'm used to having a blanket or some sort of covering during the facial to help me fully relax. The microdermabrasion was great though! My face instantly felt cleaner and smoother. After a few days, it was noticeably clearer (I even received compliments from other people!). Marjan is extremely nice and knowledgable. She is a bit more on the quiet side so I had to ask her about each procedure; whereas, other estheticians typically explain to me what they're doing and why. The place is clean and very small. When I went, it was just a front desk person and Marjan. The front desk woman greeted me very friendly, had me fill out a few paperwork, and then brought me to Marjan shortly afterwards. Her prices are 115 for 60 mins And 95 for 45 mins Now if you ask me if she kinda ripped me off. I love the results but but the lotions and creams she wants us to use are much cheaper on amazon Half Price! I paid 140 for 70mins. Im extremely upset because She said she would work with me. I bought a Groupon for microdermabrasion. The front desk is the only best thing there. My facial was like I just had a vacuum cleaner on my face. Rough treatment , cold attitude , Marian behaves like she is the Mecca of beauty. She kept telling me to get electrolysis done for facial hair and how Laser is a joke. I had a cyst sebaceous thing in my eye which she said she could remove for me. I came back for that in a month and was first told it would cost $25-30. When I got there she did electrolysis on my eye lash around the cyst and then removed it , telling me that it has been removed permanently and would never be back. She asked me how much I was quoted the price and I told her what I was told but charged me $45. The cyst was back in a month. I called and asked them to remove it again but was told I would have pay again. Her electrolysis speech about the hair never returning seems baseless after that. I don't have a hole in my head to go back to her promises. This review was so long in the coming but I just didn't want to get all riled up when I think of that experience. My first impression of Pure Serenity was with speaking to Mai on the phone. Her voice was so sweet and calming that I knew I would like this place. Having had hyper-pigmentation or melasma for over ten years now, I have tried Hydroquinone, Triluma, Retin-a, microdermabrasion- with little to no result. I really wanted to like this place. I bought a Groupon for 6 hair removal sessions for my face. The sessions themselves were fine, as well as the customer service, and location/office was very pleasant. The doctor is very friendly, and informative and treated me well. The reason I'm giving a 1 star is because I did not have any good results. After 6 treatments on my face, I see absolutely no reduction to my facial hair. What's worse is that because my experience with the first session went well and I wanted to trust the doctor, I got a head of myself and I referred my mom & sister to get the same package on the area of their choice. After all the sessions ended, we are disappointed that we didn't get the results that were advertised. There's hardly any difference at all. I'm going back to SkinSpirit in Palo Alto. They are the only ones I've had real success with regarding permanent hair removal. read more

I first started going to Marjan for laser hair removal (but have since tried other services with her because of my positive experience). Marjan is now my go to person for all things skin-related because she's not just good at what she does, she is extremely fair and honest about what needs work and what doesn't. We need more people like that! I had thought about having my leg hair lasered too, but she took a look at it and said I had such little hair that it wouldn't really be worth my money. A less than scrupulous person could have just said, "That's what my client wants, so that's what we'll do, even if she doesn't need it." Marjan also doesn't push products on you, which is such a change from other places. You can go in there and believe that she will give you the best of her service and make recommendations, but she won't push you to do a certain thing. You can tell that is a genuinely nice person too, and that makes it so much easier to work with her! Plus, she manages her time well, so you won't spend time in a waiting room. Because I liked working with her so much, my partner got the confidence to go over to her and have his "blood mole" and facial warts removed. He came back with great things to say about Marjan (about how fair and efficient she is) and told me he'd go back to her if he needed anything else done. Beyond what Groupon deal describes, she took longer time and extra steps before the high-tech version of microdermabrasion using Dermasweep's multi-level resurfacing system unit that does both exfoliation and Epi-infusion simultaneously. The treatment solution was customized for my skin type and acne problem. After the treatment, she made recommendations on how to sustain my skin and eventually gain a better looking face. I purchased a Groupon for a microdermabrasion from Pure Serenity Skincare. Boy, am I glad I did! I had never had a microderm before, but I assumed it would brighten up my dull skin and help my foundation go on smoothly. Marjan takes the time to consult with you to make sure you are getting what you expect out of the session (or reset expectations, if needed). She discusses each step of the process to you, so you are never surprised about what is happening. My whole experience was relaxing and I left with the brighter skin and smoothness I was hoping for! As an added bonus, I almost expected to leave with slightly pink skin--this was not the case. I even went the rest of the day makeup free because my skin felt and looked so good! Making an appointment was a breeze. At first I was worried because I had to leave a message, however Marjan's assistant got back to me the same day and we were able to quickly find a time that worked with my schedule. The whole point of Groupon is to introduce new clients to your business in hopes that they will return. I'll admit that I have very rarely gone back to a place after getting the good deal with Groupon. This place will be the exception. read more

Also, cozy small office-very clean, good atmosphere and extremely nice front desk lady. Great people, BUT.... I bought a deal on Groupon (microdermabrasion) - maybe because of that, visit was only 20 minutes, quickly you go in and out. Compare to all my previous experiences with facials, beauty salons and Groupon deals- that was not good, nothing impressive or special what so ever. I was paying attention to the final results after the treatment- I didn't see much difference. Personally, I would rate this experience-2 stars! Just be aware before buying Groupon deal for this place. They might be great if you just pay the full price. Groupon is a way to try new places and if I like it I stick with it. The owner Marjan of this space is wonderful. She's experienced, extremely knowledgeable, and intent on explaining the process while listening to your needs as a client. I went to Marjan on and off for over 2.0 years. I've had a number of services here and had purchased a few packages. When I was moving from the area she rolled the packages into some other services that I could use immediately instead of having to come back to the bay area to use some other sessions of previously purchased packages... if that makes sense. Basically customer service wise she met my needs! She's very helpful and honest about how many sessions different things may take. I never felt taken advantage of and felt personally supported as well with some of the services that were not the most, we will say pleasant in the process. So just visited them. To begin with it was my mistake that I made it to the appointment a little late. But there was enough time for supposedly free consultation. There was a frowning, non-smiling receptionist who asked to fill up the form and the doctor mentioned that LHE is not Lazer and she is very knowledgeable and kind of friendly speaking(forced to sort of) however, I am giving one star because she did a patch test and I can see the burnt mark, although she said the mark of was already there and LHE could have not caused it and I couldn't understand why she would do on the same spot where mark was already there. And at last she charged me $30 for investing on consultation time(fair enough because I wouldn't go back there, because I need friendly people treating me and own up to their burn marks ;))) The burn mark will go eventually as its superficial but I wouldn't go back there Anyways other people can surely give a try but personally I would go to a better place. Marjan is okay, however her prices are too pricey for the poor quality of services. I purchased a package for 6 LHE (Light Heat Energy) treatments on my legs - $600. The treatment is different than regular laser treatments since your hair actually needs to be grown out a little bit (3-6 days). She said that she knows it's working if the area turns red after zapping it. She didn't talk much or tell me what she was doing or what she wanted me to do. It seemed like she was giving me the silent treatment while zapping my skin until I decided to leave. After 6 treatments, about 3 months later, I've noticed maybe a 30% reduction on my lower legs (I got the treatment on both upper and lower legs). It's not a general reduction, it's patchy. She also made me buy a useless $40 cream that I supposedly needed after treatments. "You have to buy it for the LHE treatments". I've never found myself needing to use it, and she started using a different lotion while trying to be like "the other one is still good, just different". Such of waste of $640, which is apparently a deal - only to get poor results. read more

VERY happy with my results! I have tried every single laser available in the last 10 years for hair removal and haven't had such an improvement in hair reduction. Some locations I would get upwards of 30 treatments over the years. Hair was embarrassing and would cause breakouts and nothing would help. I purchased 6 treatments full face laser hair removal on groupon, so far I have done 5 and I am very pleased with results. It is not a first time I do laser treatments and I am happy to see such a difference after just 5 treatments. The type of laser used here does not require to shave before the treatment and it is huge deal for me - every time I had to shave my skin got terribly irritated, hair turned to be coarse and even more visible. So I am happy to see it is almost gone. Pain is tolerable, ice application after feels great. I don't have any irritation or burns after and I have pretty sensitive skin. Im giving a 5/5 stars due to Marjan's great customer service. I bought the LHE package on groupon twice so I had 12 treatments total. In the beginning I was not too satisfied because my hair is just so stubborn it would not go away. Marjan knew I was not satisfied so she gave me a call right away (NOTE: MOST PLACES DO NOT DO THIS). I really appreciated this. It really meant a lot to me and showed that she actually cares about her customers. She decided to work something out with me and this really had me satisfied. I know it is not in her hands due to my hair growing but I know that she is trying her best to keep her customers satisfied. I am still working on the treatment of my hair. It has thinned out a lot from where I have started, but it is not completely gone yet. I choose Pure Serenity by seeing all these 5 stars on yelp and had an horrible experience. I went to Pure Serenity for electrolysis, after my first treatment on face my skin was bumpy, red, irritated for a week and I got scabs. Now I have little scars on my face where I was treated which I think will take months/years to go away. After my first treatment I was told that its normal for skin to react this way but I decided not to continue. Well its not NORMAL!! Someone needs more training! I am glad I did not continue at this place to have scabs all over my face. I started going to another person for electrolysis who knows what she is doing. I don't get any bumps, redness or any scabs at all. Such a huge difference in treatment and I pay 1/4 of the price what Marjan charges for 15 minutes. read more

I originally bought groupon for 180$ for 6 laser treatments. She advised me that because hair is hormonal, I should get electrolysis instead which came up to 3 sessions of 15 min each for total of 180$. Ripoff - hygiene under question: she doesn't use gloves and didn't see her using hand sanitizer She was trying to sell me facials and started squeezing black heads on my nose and cheeks without gloves. I have hesitated to write this review and honestly cannot believe that I kept going back to this place despite my early experiences, really my only excuse is that I paid hundreds of dollars for an LHE (not to be confused with laser) package that I regret but kept hoping would be worth it in the end. (FYI, LHE is incredibly painful in sensitive areas at higher levels of intensity, but this is not really her fault so my rating does not reflect that. I'll be looking for a laser treatment center to complete my treatment rather than buying another 6 pack of treatment here.) I also felt conflicted posting this because I don't often post negative reviews, but I do hope that it helps others avoid the regretful experience I had and ultimately I hope it helps Marjan address some of these issues in her business. Pros: -Marjan is friendly (although one of her assistants is not) and also not too pushy about selling other treatments to you -nicely done overall office aesthetic -very thorough free consultation Cons: -CLEANLINESS. Every time I went home I would thoroughly disinfect treated areas because Marjan does not use gloves or visibly sanitize the LHE device between sessions/ areas, which is very alarming to me! The only two times I saw her barely "rinse" her hands was after a session with me perhaps to get the lotion off (with water only, no soap, and the sink was usually dry when I arrived even though she always has back to back appointments and have never seen her clean her hands with soap after finishing with the previous client.) She then barely dabs her hands on a cloth rag/towel on the counter, instead of a more hygienic disposable towel. I really do not want to know what kind of bacteria/transmittable diseases are on her hands or equipment, as she provides services for ALL over the body. -haphazard application of device in non-flat areas resulted in several painful burns from overlapping areas and very patchy results, not uniform at all and I had to remind her of missed places several times, which of course resulted in uneven application -Marjan did not inform me that her extra small package was "sold out" until after doing the treatment, so I had to pay an extra $100, which I later politely asked her to add in an additional extra small area because this didn't seem fair to me.I do appreciate that she accommodated my reasonable and request. -4 or 5 of my 8 visits started 15-20 minutes late - she stays in the room as you undress(!) this is very unusual in my experience, and awkward. read more
