Bought my car here some time ago, a smooth matter as these things go. Opinion, of course. But for service, they are more than solid; they had my back when I needed to understand what was going on with the car -- after all we ride around at high speeds, on roads filled with a lot of dangerous drivers, including at times, ourselves! Cliff's always been helpful, and last time in -- now some time ago -- I was helped by Becky. Wow, does she understand her Hondas, not to mention we worriers -- today's drivers. Service was exceptional, and I fully understood the entire matter. And she was right about what was needed. Terrible experience at this Honda dealership. I was getting my oil changed and a brake inspection and in the middle of my service the technician goes on his lunch. What should've took less than an hour turned into 2.5 hours. I don't think I'll be coming back, had much better service at Midas auto shop 10min away. Ferndale Honda has a promotion running now on Facebook---become a fan, and get a free oil change. A friend told me about it last weekend, and my car just so happened to be 500 or so miles past due for an oil change. I drive an Acura, but I figured since Honda and Acura are made by the same company (same with Toyota and Lexus), I would take a chance and head up there. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. It took a minute or two for them to determine that they could indeed service my Acura with an oil change, but once that was settled, they drove it into the work area, I settled into the waiting room (which was very clean, comfortable, with hot coffee, tea, and a television) and waited not more than 10 minutes for my oil change to be completed. In addition to the service, they also topped off all of the other fluids and checked the air in my tires (in my case, adjusted it---I had severely over-inflated at the gas station a few days prior! oops!). I've had Hondas my whole life up until this Acura. My last Civic had over 250,000 miles on it, and it's still going strong with a new driver. I'm not in the market for a new car right now, but next time I need a quick stop for an oil change, you can bet I'll pass up the quick change place down Woodward and stop into Ferndale Honda. read more

This place is just awful all-around. While having my airbags replaced there after a recall they told me that my car needed a significant amount of work and quoted me an estimate that was three times what my regular mechanic ended up charging for the same work. Additionally, while they were replacing the airbags and I was sitting in the waiting area, one of the employees came up to me with an older woman who was selling cakes and tried to pressure me into buying one. I am sure the cake was great, but I don't want to be made to feel like I am jerk for not buying a cake that I don't want/need while I am waiting for my car to be repaired. Several weeks later my husband and I went in to test drive new cars and the sales staff was so rude that we agreed that if even if we loved the car we would purchase it from another Honda dealer where we were treated with some common courtesy. I understand that they probably get a lot of "window shoppers" who test drive and do not end up buying cars, but it wouldn't kill the salespeople to say, "hello" or "my name is blank_____." If they were feeling especially chatty that day, a "How are you doing?" probably wouldn't hurt either. The salesperson barely looked at us or answered any of our questions with more than a grunt. Additionally, the exact car that we were interested in was sitting on the showroom floor and we were initially told that we could only test drive it if we planned on buying it that very day. How could we possibly know that without test driving it? They did eventually let us drive the car we were interested in, but acted like they were doing us a huge favor. Thankfully, we now drive a Ford and will never be headed back to this place. read more

The jerk I had, RAN MY CREDIT for a vehicle I did not want or even TEST DRIVE...I had my little one with me (THANK GOD), that gave me a reason to leave that place and shop around. We moved here from Ohio late 2014. I leased an Accord from another Honda Dealership in Troy. The factory recommended 7500 mile LOF's ~ they told me I had to change it every 4000 miles. After just 3000 my oil was dirty and needed to be changed again. Not sure what happened, but since I have been a Controller in a dealership for almost 40 years my guess is that they either did not change the oil, the filter, or used cheap oil. I called Ferndale and they asked me to stop over at my convenience. They worked me in, changed the oil and I am very happy with the way they respected me, and also listened to my needs and concerns. I was a repeat customer for years at Ferndale Honda. Until last year. My wife took the car in for the engine light coming on. The service person told her to go another place lke Autozone. Autozone did not have a person that was qualified to read the engine light. Another person told me I would be better off taking back to the dealer. Boy, what a big mistake that was. I had to keep calling about what was going on with the car. When I did pick it up. The service advisor just dropped off the keys to the cashier. Without explaining to me or my wife about what was done. He finally explained it to us after we demanded that he talked to us. The cashier was not very nice. The survey about the service was very negative about Ferndale Honda, The service manager called me and apologized about my experience. He saw that I was a long time customer and promised that it would not ever happen again. It was too late. I now take my business to Jeffrey Honda. read more

Like the experience there. Bought our new 2015 Odyssey EL-Navi. Best price in this area. Straight forward experience. No up sell, no baiting, no haggling. all documentations are prepared ahead of time. Come, sign the document in 30 minutes. I use the Costco Auto program. Note that their trade-in value is a bit low. I have been going to Honda dealerships my entire life with my mother. She owns three honda vehicles currently and does not plan on going with another brand. She passed the love of Honda's down to me but after going to this dealership for a simple oil change it made me question that decision. I took my vehicle in fully running with no previous problems for a oil change and after coming back in and paying for my services that said my car wont start and shrugged it off like it's not their problem. They tried to say it was the timing chain but after taking it to a different dealerahip I found out they were dead wrong. Being a full time student and working full time this was a major inconvenience. The lack of caring they showed was the the same as any random car repair shop on a corner. I will never be going there again for ANYTHING!! read more

Update - I am happy with their response about the commission thing and feel better about it. (see below). In addition, they are very very responsive. The next day after my car was first fixed, the engine light came back on. I called and they told me to bring it right in - they then offered a loaner car or for me to wait there. I waited and mechanic came out personally to explain what he thought the problem was and why the light came back on. He fixed it and so far the car runs perfectly. Obviously I was not charged at all for the second time I brought it in. It was also very comforting that they responded that way, because we are basically at the mercy of the mechanic when we know nothing about cars ourselves. When a customer has a problem, THAT is the best way to determine the level of customer service of the company. I will definitely be taking my Honda back here in the future when I need it. read more

The lot is small and there's only street parking on a very busy street (be careful when bringing little kids), but the inside of the facility is nice. The internet sales manager and my assigned sales person was very responsive via both email and phone and was courteous and professional throughout the presale and closing process. In terms of value, when compared to the top trim of comparable vehicles, the CR-V was the most expensive, but I was willing to pay more for what I believe is the most stylist... which says a lot in this competitive vehicle segment. Apart from the added cost of an accessory that I didn't want that was shipped with the vehicle, the price was exactly as was negotiated weeks earlier to delivery. Hopefully, the Honda reliability will also shine through on this vehicle. Overall, I am happy with my experience and hope follow up service visits will be equally pleasant. read more

Best experience I've had at a Honda dealership. I usually go to the one in Bloomfield but this location was more convenient for what I had planned that day. And I can't tell u enough how nice everyone was compared to the one at Bloomfield. Honestly won't go to any other dealerships anymore. This dealership needs to be investigated by the state of Michigan. They sold a 2016 vehicle as brand new and then after having problems with the steering wheel they would the fix the problem and they kept stating nothing is worng with it after taking it in 3 times. then i took it to a different dealer for a second opinion and stated the vehicle was in a accident prior to being sold to me and had parts added but the dealership that i purchased from did not disclose that information to me, they are a very shady dealer. please people do not buy a car from this dealer ship they lie their way to sell cars and the owner is even more rude. I live in Ferndale, and had hoped to give my business to Ferndale Honda when I started looking at the CR-Z (great car, by the way). My experience was terrible, overall - mostly related to communication and approach to customers. I did all of my research online, so I knew I wanted to the Z - A test drive was all it would take, so I went to Ferndale Honda. I totally dug the car, and worked with a sales person to check inventory in the area. I had to wait about two weeks, for a check from my insurance company on my stolen vehicle, so the sale man gave me is email address. When I was ready to buy, I tried to reach the sale man by email twice, and no reply. Then I tried emailing the sales department through ferndalehonda.com, and I received an email saying there was technical glitch with their server, and the email wasn't delivered. I visited the LaFountaine Honda website, and a live person popped up in a chat box. I explained what I was looking for, and left my cell number (and suggested text). Within one-half hour, I received a text from LaFountaine Honda. Within two days, I had my car - and most of the transaction was through text or email. Later, I tried to send an email to Ferndale Honda through it's website, to explain how they lost a sale due to a lack of ability to handle current-day technology - that email didn't go through either. I did try Ferndale Honda's service department for a quick software recall - no issues there. When I tried to by parts at Ferndale Honda - well, not so good. I ordered the parts through Honda.com, where I was told that Ferndale Honda would handle the final sale. I was told on the Honda website that I would receive confirmation from Ferndale Honda that it had received the order. Nothing. After two weeks, I called Ferndale Honda to check on the order. The parts manager used my cell number on his caller ID to locate my order, I guess, because he never asked my name. He said he had some of parts I ordered, and that the rest would be in that afternoon. He said he would call back to confirm. No call. Two weeks later, I decide to call the Ferndale Honda general manager, who apologizes and says he will call back. A few minutes later, the parts manager calls me, with attitude. "Man, your stuff is here. Something was wrong with your phone. I called the number and it wouldn't go through." Mind you, it was my cell number. The same number that came up in his caller ID before, and the same number he successfully called me on after I complained to the manager. I called LaFountaine Honda, and got the parts through them. It was a piece of cake. In fact, you can just go to the LaFountain website and put your information into a form to request parts. I would love to support Ferndale Honda, as I believe in supporting local businesses. However, this place doesn't seem very hungry for business. The lack of 21st century communication skills makes it feel like a tacky dealership from the 1970's. And, there's no sense of customer care. The parts guy broke a cardinal rule in customer service: he blamed the customer for his err. If you don't give a rip about how you are treated - Ferndale Honda may be convenient. For my money and time, I'm going to have to drive elsewhere. read more

I purchased my Odyssey from Troy Honda, but with my husband in school and us actually living right in the same city, when I received my airbag recall notice, it seemed logical to have it done at Ferndale Honda. Horrible idea. I should have read these reviews and the google reviews first. I called last few days of March/beggining of April to set up the repair, gave them my vin# and they told me it would be 2-3 weeks for parts to come in. I received a hang up call on my cell, no message, in about 2 weeks. I called to check and they said they didn't call me, no parts yet. On April 24th, I called again to check on the progress, was given to Morris in parts who asked multiple ways to look me up, then finally said "it will be about two more weeks" which was puzzling because really it didn't sound like he found my name. I called back today, May 20, was sent to Morris in parts again, who couldn't find me again but said "well, I have lots of extra ones, just make an appointment." I asked to leave a message for the general manager, was sent to a voicemail with no message, and received a return call from somone who would only give me the name "Charlie" and when I posed the question of what would have happened had I not repeatedly called back, stated he didn't know what I meant. I called Honda North America to file a complaint and they are having their customer service department schedule my appointment at another dealership. I told them that if Ferndale Honda were the only place I could buy a Honda, I would never buy another. Save yourself the headache and go to Troy Honday or Tamaroff Honda in Southfield. read more

This was the worst car experience I've ever had. Major communication issues with getting my brakes done. The online scheduling never responded to my request. When I called and made an appointment, I was told there would be a shuttle available when I dropped off my car (there wasn't), the brake inspection would be done but no guarantee the brakes could be replaced (though I said they needed to be replaced), and the part I said needed to be ordered wasn't ordered until I brought my car in and paid for it instead of having it there, which meant I needed to bring my car back again. The worst part was that my car reeked of cigarette smoke which lasted for days. Most dealerships wash your car, not give it back in worse condition that you brought it in. When I called about the part, I was told to go to an auto repair shop to get it. They couldn't remember what part I ordered and when it would be in. Never go there. Never. read more
