Whoa, where did this place come from? Purebread is heaven. Why didn't anyone tell me about this place earlier? Tucked away outside of the hustle and bustle of the village, Purebread is a pastry lovers' heaven. The breads are incredible and pastries are equally as amazing. My cousin took us here (it was a massive group of 12) so I had an excellent sampling of all the different goods here. I ordered the Buckwheat Sour Cherry scone. Why? Because it sounded pretty cool. Once I had a bite of the scone, it was heavenly. The same goes for all the other pastries that I tried out. There were too many for me to remember. The price was very reasonable. About $3 - 4? You can bet that I'll be coming here every time I make the trip up to Whistler. 5 stars! read more

Fresh baked goodness that hugs you like a warm blanket on a cold day. Ventured in with a group of friends over the BC Day long weekend and walked out with our fair share of goodies! Make sure to try: The Crack, Chocolate Covered Banana Bread and Bread Pudding! They also sell Stumphouse Cold Brew Coffee by the bottle!! My heart literally jumped for joy when I saw it! $5.25 - which may be a little steep for some, but I couldn't stop thinking about it when I had a taste in Portland. Heaven is hard to describe. Take a bite out of Purebread's pastries and it become easier. We stumbled upon this place while wondering around Whistler and it must have been fate - falling into Heaven so easily! You walk in and instantly I wanted EVERYTHING - it all looked so darn good! Lucky for me I am vegan and that helped me make up my mind quite quickly about what I would choose - the only vegan item on display - the banana coconut bread. A-m-A-z-I-n-G! My husband had the blonde brownie which he said was equally amazing. This little bakery was quaint and a slice of heaven that I felt the need to come back to multiple times throughout my 2 day stay in Whistler. Carb Heaven! I always come here to grab the disfunction bread (aka beer bread). It is a very healthy tasting sour dough bread made with whistler beer. It is a must try item. I haven't tried their coffee yet, but last time I was there I saw how the coffee was made. I will make sure i go back and try the coffee next time and update my review! read more

My favourite bakery ever. I have been to this location, their Whistler one (before the fire), and to their stand at the Kitsilano Farmers Market. I'm so happy that they'll be opening a location in Vancouver! The creations you'll find at Purebread are one of a kind, delicious, and comforting. My favourites are the lavender earl grey scone and the adults only cookie (a salted chocolate cookie with rosemary--yum!). Took a stroll here yesterday morning during my weekend in Whistler to this place on the recommendation of my friend and her pastry chef boyfriend. I picked up a Lavender Earl Grey Scone. Oh, it was heaven. The combination of flavours made it not-too sweet, not-too savoury. It had just a little bit of frosting on top, but not so much that it overpowered the scone-which I find a lot of bakeries do, and I don't like my scones so sugary. I just found out that this place comes to some of the Vancouver farmers markets on certain dates-I will definitely be going back to try some of their other goodies. There is something magical about Purebread. It's like you can feel their love of baking through consuming their incredible breads and baked goods. This is the stuff that toasty dreams and epic sandwiches are made of. Hell, you can just eat a loaf straight up! I am ever so thankful that Purebread is in Whistler, and only makes appearances at Vancouver Farmer's Markets. I would no doubt be HUGE if they were more easily accessible. The lavender rosemary bread is pure decadence, along with the equally amazing sour cherry chocolate. The cookies (any of them), jalapeno cheddar, apricot, and earl grey scones and chili cornbread are all killer. The lineups at the markets are justified. This is the best little specialty bakery in whistler. Amazing treats and sandwiches. Including a cheese sandwich the size of my head. It's right in the village. The staff is amazingly kind and patient while you droll over the case of goodies. The only downside ? They don't take American Express but they do other cards. They even have Stumptown cold brew coffee to go. I would give them more than five stars since my I came back twice for the Crack dessert bar. That's right twice. It's sooo good. read more

This is the best bakery ever, hands down. Working close by I've had the opportunity to try pretty much everything they make, which is a wide range of treats that will please any sweet tooth. They usually have a few savoury options available too, pour over coffee and of course their loaves which all taste as amazing as they sound. The raspberry brownies (in fact, all of the brownies) are incredible, I'm also a big fan of the earl grey lavender scones but you can't go wrong with anything here, choosing just one thing will be one of the hardest decisions you'll ever have to make. The Function Junction location has a few bar stools inside and seating for 2 to 4 outside, the decor is beautiful and simple and they have a few packaged items that would make for great gifts for those you feel sorry for back home who missed out. Well it looks like a great place. The baked goods looked awesome...but... we didn't purchase the fresh baked goods. Instead we bought a couple of pre-packaged breakfast granolas. Apparently there was a line to the counter but it was held way back in the baked goods. Being there for the first time we didn't realize this. So we went to the counter where no one was and the employee stood just waiting. She first lectured us for a couple of minutes for not being in line, but then rung up our purchases still scolding us. Then showed us a credit card machine that wouldn't let us complete our purchase without adding a tip. She said it would be awesome if we did, even if it was just a point of sale item and she did not perform any services. pretty rude, I'd say. read more

Great coffee and indulgent cheese toasties. The bacon jam cheese toastie gets an A+...just don't think about the calories. Still had to queue for around 5 minutes and waited around 10 minutes for food at 11am on a Sunday morning but was well worth the wait. Great coffee. They brew Stumptown Coffee from Portland, Oregon, so if you're looking for a local coffee place (which is what I was hoping for), this isn't it. Stumptown definitely has a different taste, but it's good and worth a try. I wouldn't say it's the most amazing coffee I have ever had, but it's good. We both got the Flat White, which has two shots of espresso, a small amount of milk and a small amount of foam. It's 8oz, so it's pretty small, but packs a punch. We didn't get a chance to try the baked goods, but they look amazing! read more

This is an amazing bakery. All the goodness -- sweet and savory. So much fantastic-ness I don't even know where to start. Good for snacks, dessert, just because you NEED that brownie. Oh yes. We went for breakfast. I had a lovely croissant -- buttery, flakey, and some pumpkin bread. Oh yummy. My kids had the muffin tin frittatas -- one meat, one veggie. They were delicious. Light, yet chock full of ingredients. The hot chocolate for the kids was wonderful -- milk, marshmallows, oh yes. The coffee was very good. I don't use dairy in mine so can't speak to that. Purebread now has a store in Whistler. They also come to the winter farmers market in Vancouver. The passion with which they bake is evident in very bite of their bread,pastry and other sweets. The Nutella brioches have captured the imagination of customers. The brownies have a faint flavour of coffee and surprisingly are just as good the second day, if you can wait. I couldn't understand why I had had such a visceral reaction to their almond croissants but at some point last summer I realized that they make me feel good because they remind me of my first days living in Italy when I tried to blend at breakfast time by drinking cappuccino and eating a "cornetto" standing up at a marble counter in a tiny cafe. It has been years since I tasted an "almond" croissant which was redolent with butter and almond paste. Poor croisants - you have been horribly abused by places like Costco and Burger King which bake you in a factory and leave you whitish and identical to the other 100 on the tray. As for the bread, Paesano, Rustic Italian, baguettes and cheese and jalapeno breads are the antidote to factory bread. I would like to taste the pizza. and the bread made with beer. read more

We witnessed a line out the door at Purebread one late morning so we decided to give it a try. As I went through the line i viewed a dizzying array of homemade breads and pastries along with small breakfast items such as quiches. All of the items we purchased were delicious and the cappuccino and lattes were prepared perfectly. We ended coming back to this establishment several times during the week. The line moves fast so it doesn't take long to get your food. There is self seating which does take a little time to commandeer a table but its worth the wait. read more

I fell in love with Pure Bread last summer at the Shipyards night market in North Vancouver. I bought a few small pastries at the booth and the man gave me a broken chocolate rosemary cookie for free. Craziest flavour combo but I was hooked. (Although, I will say that it inspired me to experiment with my own baking and I came up with an orange zest and rosemary cookie with white chocolate chips. I'm calling for a Bobby-Flay-style-rosemary-cookie throwdown, Pure Bread! haha) We went today on our way to Pemberton and the actual Pure Bread location in Whistler is bakery heaven on earth. I couldn't decide!! So between my husband and I we got the Crack bar (super addictive, hence the name) the salted caramel something bar, the carmelized banana brownie (OMG!!!) and a loaf of jalapeno cheddar bread. Over the course of the day we snacked on each item and although the bars were way too sweet to eat more than a nibble of at a time, everything was scrumptious. The bread was perfectly savory. Loved it! That brownie... I can't even begin to describe it's deliciousness. Oh, and amazingly friendly staff!!!! The lady was very funny and laughed when my husband was wary of the Crack bar as he thought it was referring to a butt crack and served as a warning that it tastes like @$$. She could take a joke about her product, which was good, and the bar tastes way too sweet and delicious to not live up to its addictive name, so no worries there. I went to the night market last Friday at North Van looking for Pure Bread but they weren't set up... When will you be there? I need another fix! :-) *TIP* Google map search it first if you are not from Whistler, as it's not within the main Village and is off the beaten track by a couple of left turns from the highway. May it be sweet or savory they have it all, my husband absolutely loved the brioche bacon and egg he says it's a glorious combo of a popover roll and a perfectly scrambled eggs with amazing Italian flavors. You just have to try it!! The vegan scones were alll amazing but that blackberry one was so darn scrumptious! Don't believe the hype!!!! The other reviews were a little blown out of proportion. Not as good as I hoped and read about. Very sad!! The reviews were so great and the pictures looked amazing which is why my husband and I decided to stop here for breakfast. Very disappointed! The biggest let down! My husband and I went in the morning because we thought, fresh pastries... We walked in and it looked amazing. So many options, it was just wow!! (Like in the pictures). We got the crack bar (which was the best thing we got but very sweet. I like sweet and am a big foodie but this was almost too much. But, this was the best thing here). We got the Nutella brioche (as suggested in another review), chocolate Blondie bar (Which was way too sweet and sharp dark chocolate like taste) zucchini carrot loaf ( which was ok... Just not fresh and not flavorful), a latte and a hot chocolate (the hot chocolate was the most disgusting hot chocolate I've ever tasted. It gave me and my husband the chills). Yikes!!!The pastries were not good either. We took a bite of everything we got, and couldn't eat anymore and threw everything away . :( I remember reading in a review that they were baked fresh every morning. BEWARE- the ladies behind the counter stated these are baked in a warehouse nearby and brought over to the store Every morning. (I don't believe these were fresh... They have to be at least a few days old. At least... And in fact, I've gotten way better from any grocery store and for cheaper). Additionally, in another review, it states to get the items warmed up. We asked to get them warmed up and was greeted back with a cold response and a "bothered" looked on the lady's face that we even asked to get our goodies "warmed". It pains me to write this but the previous reviews didn't appear to be accurate in regards to taste. This place gets two stars and is accurate in the amazing look and multiple selections of different treats and baked goods. Just don't have high expectations for taste and I'm sure you will be fine with this place. I definitely won't be coming back to an over priced, not so fresh, not flavorful and ordinary pastry treats (that looked deceivingly delicious). :( read more

Try any and all breads especially the cheesy ones, with giant pockets of cheese, flaky, melt in your mouth seasonal scones, sugar buns with lemon curd, passion fruit purée, or anything, pudgie pie, and the nutella brioche is what dreams are made of. The line ups are ridiculous at most local markets but totally worth it. A bakery that will have you taking home at least double what you originally planned. Everything is fantastic here. Their Crack Bar is exactly that. Earl Grey Lavender Scones are exceptionally moist ad delicious. This is the best bakery around and their coffee is excellent too. The variety is incredible and while not cheap, neither are the ingredients, which you can taste. The sticky ginger loaf is not to be missed but there's so many other sweets I want to try. They have another location in Whistler Village.
