[[HIGHLIGHT]]Puro Dulzor By Karolene is a lovely little Hispanic mom-and-pop spot with excellent food and a cozy, welcoming feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And to top it off they didn't laugh at me when I attempted to speak broken Spanish. I've been attempting to learn for years. LOL. We ordered the Breakfast for Two and everything was delicious. The scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked with cheddar, ham, and very finely chopped onions that blended beautifully into the eggs. The Cuban bread was fresh, the pancakes with Nutella and strawberries were indulgent without being heavy, and the fruit on the side was lightly sweet and refreshing. The beef empanadas were flavorful and satisfying. My daughter enjoyed the Oreo hot chocolate, and my cappuccino was smooth and comforting. A great local spot we're happy to support and will definitely return to. So glad I drove past the usual dives to try something different.

Wow, what delicious food! It was a bit pricy but boy were you paying for what you got since that was some quality eating & drinking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's set up pretty cute in there with decorations, even with it being a relatively small spot they make it work well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The small location gives it an intimate/local feel that reminds me of places I would find back home in Puerto Rico.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were very friendly, always checking in on us to make sure we were okay. The coffee did take exceptionally long (arrived well after my food) but I will let it slide as they were particularly busy in that department and apologized profusely. Would definitely be going back, exceptionally beautiful coffees with flavor to match!

5 Stars - Puro Dulzor nunca falla This morning I ordered from Puro Dulzor and, como siempre, todo espectacular. The food came fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The empanadas estaban llenas y bien jugosas por dentro, el panecillo suavecito, y cada salsa perfecta. And the iced drink with whipped cream... una delicia total -- creamy, sweet, and the perfect treat to start the day. They never disappoint. The quality, the flavor, and the presentation are always top-notch. Super recomendado if you want delicious food and great service every single time. I also added pictures from the other day I went for breakfast and lunch and everything was amazing as always.

Coffe, empanadas and tripleta was amazing. Food was good and staff was friendly. This was shown on tik tok but looked different in person. My opinion is the food was over priced for what you can get at other Spanish spots in the area.

Look at how pretty the plating is Not only that but the food tastes just as great as it looks. Service is quick and nice! I love coming here for a nice little breakfast. They have the best Frappuccino & hot chocolate. They're always coming out with new things and finding ways to enhance the restaurant. There's something for everyone! The portions are also fantastic. Can't wait to come back

This is an amazing brunch place! They had amazing service & the food was so delicious. I would definitely recommend!

My mom ordered a custom-made cake from here. Owner is super sweet but how the cake was decorated looked like an amateur did it. We also requested it to be wet and taste like almond (like puertoricans eat it) and the cake was also dry, not at all what we were expecting. We gave it 2 stars because they were polite and the price was not as bad as it could have been. It was $35.

Warmed up from yesterday. Looking at the pan you can tell it has rewarded in the same pan. Additional side pork order- they gave me the scraps they were trying to get rid off along with bones and charged me almost $8 Overall service- staff taking my order was welcoming and patient. Person cutting the meet seemed to be in a bad mood. The person at register was ok untill I asked her to replace the dry meat and bones from my side pork order and actually give me meat I could eat. She stated the serve costilla not cerdo her response was so unbelievably dumb I chose to ignore it and asked her to put meat in my order. Her attitude and service changed negatively. This was a great spot, very sad to see that the taste and quality of food has went down drastically. Also, why were there no Puerto Ricans there? Could it be that there are ppl from other countries attempting to match the flavor now instead or authentic food? The lady stated owner was nit available for me to show him the food. Maybe he will see it here instead. They are also in a quick hurry to ask you to leave a review before you even try your food

The hot plates on the steam area were almost empty pans - All they had left was yuca, white rice, arroz gandules, tostones, macaroni salad, lechon asado, roasted chicken, pasteles from what I recall. I opted a plate dinner - it comes with rice, meat and 2 sides. The lechon asado looked good with the roasted crispy skin. I was not sure how they plate the lechon asado as in how much you get. They do not speak english much but they try to understand you and what you want. So when she was slicing up the lechon asado - She kept asking i guess if the portion was ok - I was afraid that if I kept asking more meat they might up charge my $13.99 plate. In total i recieved 5-6 pieces of Lechon asado. Along with arroz gandules - yuca and macaroni salad. The Lechon Asado was delicious. Crispy skin and juicy meat. It was seasoned well. You can taste the roast taste from the meat - So this place is known for this - This is why its a best seller kind of meat here. Yuca - It was tender soft but tasted spoiled. It had a smell to it - I guess because I got it later of the day - The yuca just sat in the hot steamer all day - It had a somewhat sour taste to it. I did not continue to eat it in case I would get food poisoning. Arroz Con Gandules - It was seasoned well and good texture on the rice. You can taste some type of smokiness on the rice. Macaroni Salad - This was bland for me. It needed some seasoning but I still ate it because the yuca was not up to par as far as taste. I can make better Macaroni Salad than this. The pork pasteles was delicious. Seasoned masa and the texture was buttery smooth. The filling was pork not much on it no olives raisins or bell pepper. It was still a delicious pasteles. The pork had a taste of smokiness - They are known for roasted lechon so the pork in the pasteles is delicious.- They only sell / make pork pasteles here. Come here for the lechon Asado - Its very delicious.

A Little Taste of Grandma's Kitchen…read more I actually visited Melao Bakery in Kissimmee twice over the same weekend with family--and I think that alone says something! We didn't get a chance to take photos either visit because we were too busy eating and enjoying ourselves, but I definitely wanted to leave an honest review. The smells, the trays of food, the pan sobao, the pastries...it brought back memories of being in Grandma's kitchen, where there was always something cooking and you definitely weren't leaving hungry. Restaurant Vibes & Service: 4/5 Both times we visited, Melao was BUSY! There were long lines and a bit of a wait, but honestly, that usually tells me people know where the good food is. Despite how busy it was, the staff remained friendly and courteous, which we appreciated. Pollo Guisado with Yellow Rice: 4/5 First of all...the portions are GENEROUS! You could easily feed two people from one plate. The pollo guisado was fresh, flavorful, tender and comforting--the kind of Puerto Rican soul food that makes you want to sit down, slow down and enjoy your plate. My only personal preference would be a little more garlic, because in my family there's almost no such thing as too much garlic. Still, absolutely delicious! Carne Guisada: 5/5 This one was a winner! Another huge portion, with tender meat and lots of fresh, comforting flavor. Definitely something we would order again. Alcapurria: 3/5 Good, but probably one of the weaker items we tried. It didn't taste quite as fresh as everything else--almost like it had been sitting in the warmer for a little while--and it was a bit greasier than I personally prefer. Not bad, just not my favorite. Bacon, Egg & Cheese on Pan Sobao: 4/5: Now this was GOOD! Fresh and made to order, and putting bacon, egg and cheese on that soft, slightly sweet pan sobao just works. The only gripe was that my mom requested sautéed onions and unfortunately they were left off. Still delicious, though! Puerto Rican Cake Slices: 4/5 Fresh, soft and delicious with a light whipped frosting that wasn't overly heavy or sweet. We all agreed that a little layer of fruit filling would have taken these to another level, but we would absolutely order them again. Guava Cake Slice: 5/5 MY FAVORITE! This one had me from the first bite. Moist, delicious and just sweet enough, with that beautiful guava flavor coming through without being overpowering. I'd go back for this alone! Mantecaditos: 3/5 They tasted fresh, but these just weren't really my favorite. Sometimes everything can be made well and still not be your thing--and that was these for me. Corn Bread: 4/5 Fresh and soft, but a little sweeter than I personally like my cornbread. My family, however, LOVES it, so clearly I'm outnumbered on this one. Pan Sobao: 5/5 You really can't go wrong here. Fresh-baked, pillowy soft and slightly sweet. The kind of bread you tear a piece off of "just to taste" and somehow keep going back for another piece. Overall What stood out most about Melao was the freshness, generous portions and that familiar Puerto Rican comfort-food feeling. Not every single item was a 5/5 for us, and there were a couple of little misses, but the things they do well, they do really well. More than anything, eating here gave us that warm nostalgic feeling of food made in Grandma's kitchen--big portions, familiar flavors, sweet bread on the table, and family gathered around enjoying a meal together. We came twice in one weekend, and we'll definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu. Sometimes food isn't just about how something tastes--it's about what it reminds you of. And Melao gave us a little taste of home.

The staff will ask how many pastries you want so they know what size box to give you. I went with an almond pastry with cheese filling, a guava popover, a flaky glazed pastry, and a slice of cake with a pineapple and coconut topping. I thought it was just a regular pound cake with a pinapple marmalade on top but the cake was actually soaked in a pineapple syrup of some kind and I finished the whole thing in one go! Highly recommend. The space is open and seems to have plenty of seating, the displays are well lit and the staff was all very kind. Will certainly be back!

The restaurant itself is cute and well-decorated, and it wasn't busy when we visited (Thursday around 6:30PM). Our server was friendly and attentive, and when we asked where the chef was from, she said Peru--which we later found out wasn't true (an important detail you'll soon see why). Food & Experience We ordered a variety of dishes to try: What we loved: * Sushi Acevichado - Great flavor and well-prepared. * Torta de Chocolate & Mousse de Maracuyá - Both desserts were delicious. What disappointed us: * Sopa de Pollo - The soup was loaded with potatoes, which wasn't an issue, but when we asked if it could be split into two bowls, the server said no. Instead, she offered to bring an extra bowl for us to do it ourselves, which felt like an odd policy. * Lomo Saltado - The charcoal flavor was so overpowering that it wasn't enjoyable, and the fries didn't taste homemade. * Aeropuerto - Not to my liking at all. The chicken was overcooked, and the chaufa's flavor was off, likely due to a different soy sauce (siyau) being used. * Trio (Fried Calamari, Chaufa de Pollo, Ceviche de Pescado) - The fried calamari arrived cold and gooey, the chaufa had the same flavor issue as the Aeropuerto, and the ceviche was just okay. When the chef came to our table, we asked what part of Peru he was from--and that's when we found out he wasn't actually Peruvian. This might explain why some of the traditional Peruvian flavors were missing or off. Would we come back? Probably not. There are so many better Peruvian restaurants we've tried. If we're in the area, we might consider giving it another shot with different dishes, but we wouldn't go out of our way to visit again. (Nice atmosphere, good desserts, but underwhelming Peruvian flavors.)

Disappointing Experience at Tropical Mofongo…read more I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Tropical Mofongo. I called to place an order and was told they would not take my order over the phone and that I had to order online. I followed their instructions and placed an online order totaling over $100. The order indicated that my food would be ready at 3:17 PM. I arrived at approximately 3:30 PM, only to find that my food was still not ready. When I went to pick up the order, I was asked to provide identification. Unfortunately, I had left my ID at the hotel where I was staying. I did have a picture of my ID on my phone, but instead of accepting that, I was told they wanted to write down my driver's license number. Given the amount of identity theft and fraud happening today, I was not comfortable providing my driver's license number for someone to write down. They offered me a refund, and I ultimately left without the food I had ordered. I understand that businesses have policies regarding identification, but the entire experience was frustrating and lacked customer service. I followed their instructions to order online, paid over $100, arrived at the stated pickup time, and still walked away without my food. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Tropical Mofongo. The customer service and handling of the situation were extremely disappointing.
