I grabbed a bunch of different toppings, with most of my choices somehow involving chocolate. All three of our cups ended up filled with an assortment of yummy ingredients. Service: There was one employee there who seemed to be taking care of customers while also keeping the serving and dining areas clean. I would say they were efficient, but not especially chatty or friendly. Atmosphere: The place is well designed. It's easy to figure out the process for making your own dessert, and there are lots of different areas for sitting. Big windows let in plenty of natural light and make the space feel open and inviting. One thing that really stood out was the number of signs mentioning that the premises are being monitored by cameras. Even in the bathroom, there was a sign saying that if teenagers are suspected of vandalism, the cameras may be used to identify them. It made me wonder if this location has been dealing with issues involving younger customers. There wasn't any trouble while we were there, but all of the signs definitely made an impression. You can go in, get some fro yo and sit and do some trivia! Or even take to go. They change their flavors around. My absolute favorite is the cookies n cream mixed with cake batter. I love how the machines have pre mixed flavor or you can mix whatever flavors of your choice. They also frequently have a dole pineapple flavor very similar (better in my opinion) to the famous dole whip sold at Disney. It's self serve and there's a number of toppings from cereal, gummies, cookie doughs, and sauces like peanut butter, marshmallow, caramel and hot fudge. Pricing is based on the weight, at the register you weigh your fro yo(s) and pay based on the weight. Not sure what the prices is per ounce but I paid $4.98 for a medium sized cup (the green cup shown in the picture). I also love that Hefner's employs mostly teenagers. It seems like a great place to work and develop teenage friendships. Probably the first job for many of these kids. Also, I am obsessed with fried yucca and I rarely find them on restaurant menus, so I was excited and eager to try them out. They were a bit oily but still crispy, lightly seasoned, and flavorful. WI Campfire S'mores: Cedar Crest Ice Cream is a premium ice cream company that has been located in…read moreCedarburg, WI since 1976. They offer around 80 flavors of their delicious ice cream and their claim to fame is that they invented the now widespread "tracks" in ice cream. WI Campfire S'mores is an ambitious ice cream flavor comprised of graham flavored ice cream with crushed peanut butter cups and a marshmallow swirl. The marshmallow swirl is a little tough to see visually because its white color blends in with the light brown/tan color of the ice cream base. Trust me, it's there though. Separating a spoonful of the swirl out, it does have a texture that differs from the ice cream as it is more aligned to marshmallow fluff. Although the graham and marshmallow flavors tend to get somewhat lost in each other, the peanut butter really comes through when you get a piece of it. The problem is the peanut butter cups are few and far between. Imagine eating an actual s'more that's only graham crackers and a marshmallow. The chocolate (or in this case peanut butter cups) is needed to complete the experience. Cedar Crest is not the only company to do this, but the picture on the package egregiously exaggerates the amount of peanut butter cups. As good as this ice cream is, I think Ben & Jerry's (B&J's) does it better with their PB S'more pint. Not for me, but my mother likes them as much a salad she gets anywhere else. Another thing I appreciate is the fact they have an app. An app for a local place isn't common in my experience. This makes it easy to order in advance so you can skip the line, skip the phone call and better still earn rewards. Finally, I have to commend a few of the guys who work here. Two gentlemen in particular who both are always pleasant and personable, which alone is commendable, but they've also both been there a few years.
