Moose track ice cream by kemps or something but now home made.

Coming from Wisconsin where we pride ourselves to having the best ice cream/custard, when a place says home made ice cream they better make it real good. This place outsources their ice cream. I think it's by kemps, but the ice cream we got looked and tasted old. Like it's been sitting there for a few weeks. I say this cause you can tell it's more ice, than cream. It has a weird sweetness to it. It doesn't taste like real dairy or at all fresh made like they advertised. The pie was ok. The crust was fine, but the filling seemed like store bought pudding with some coconut mixed into it. Not enough coconut. Not something I would come back for. Over all they say everything is home made. They're not.

Chicken pot pie so pretty my husband made me take a photo.

Omg. We are visiting from California and wanted a good dinner that hit the spot. This place is the only spot I have found that makes a better chicken pot pit than I do. And believe them when they say the Mac n cheese is also a specialty. I had to order a second order of the Mac n cheese because my kids inhaled the first so quickly. I had blackberry pit which was lovely, and the crust was a real home made crust. Ice cream to me is always just ice cream. But if you are looking for a good meal with quick service - come here!

Fantastic options for ice cream, pie and other foods. Service was good and had a little mom and pop vibe to it.

This pie was so good! Definitely get it a la mode with ice cream. I've never had bumble berry before, but it was so good. It's a little pricey for a piece of pie, but was filling and so tasty. I would DEFINITELY recommend. They have plenty of indoor seating and they offer food too, but we just tried the pie. EDIT: we went back to try the ice cream. The chocolate ice cream was very rich and the waffle cone was very good. The lemon berry ice cream was good too, like if a multi-berry pie became an ice cream. It was very good!

BlackBerry pie slice a la mode (coffee flavor). Yum!

Sweet little treat after lunch in Custard. BlackBerry pie was delicious - the right amount of sharpness and mellow sweetness to let the berries shine. Topped with a buttery flakey crust. Yum. I had mine with coffee ice cream.

Their strawberry rhubarb pie is divine! The crust is flaky and tastes just like grandma's homemade pie!

I kept seeing reviews and TikTokers telling me we had to try this place and we weren't disappointed! We never made it back for pie and I've cream but we did have a meal here our first night in Custer. I had the chicken pot pie and my hubby had some type of sandwich, both were delish! Service was great but this place is BUSY! Everything's purple including their iconic pig out front.

A fun place and great food. Enjoyed ourselves. Pie was great too. The purple building does create quite the landmark.

We rolled in right before close but the staff was still very friendly. The restaurant is cute & clean. The pies....amazing. I'm pretty picky about rhubarb pie, and theirs gets two thumbs up from me. My husband got the raspberry rhubarb jalapeño pie & it's now his new favorite. It just works. The crusts are crisp and flaky. We'll be back the next time we're in Custer!

Decided to try this very purple place advertising pies. Ice cream (homemade) bar and pick up food in front. We had a nice table in back by an old fire stove. Purple inside and they play a different kind of music sound track. We were cold since 40 outside and 20 mph winds so we both ordered the chicken pot pie. What a good decision. Delicious!!! Served in a bowl and the bowl is lined with crust. Then chicken and carrots and peas and sauce with a heart crust on top. YUMMMMM. I couldn't finish it. No room for pie, which they have many different kinds. Need to go back for soup and a sandwich. Or maybe the chicken pot pie again.

Sorry, but I was disappointed in their blueberry pie. Filling was thick and dry. Ice cream was also just ok.

Starter and food, drinks, etc., are brought promptly to the table. This is exceptional in a highly popular tourist area. The food is good but could use a little improvement--the grilled mahi-mahi was good, but a little on the dry sauce and definitely needed a sauce. A couple of the dishes did have sauces, but fish is why most Creole restaurants like Brennan's will serve a sauce on the side, or a topping with butter such as Trout Almandine. It doesn't have to be a fancy sauce--the option of good ol' tartar sauce works. The grilled vegetables also needed a little more butter and seasoning. Carrots are good on their own; broccoli and cauliflower need a little cheese or butter and some seasoning to be loved. The IPA (Long John) was excellent. The beer cheese dip and soft pretzels were to die for; the chardonnay was passable. A great choice for dining in a VERY heavily traveled tourist destination. Get there early--it starts filling up fast and all the restaurants around Mount Rushmore close at 9.

We were visiting from North Carolina and celebrating our anniversary, and the entire experience made the evening incredibly memorable. From the moment we arrived, the host team was warm and welcoming. Although we were about 15 minutes early, our table was already prepared--a small detail that showed genuine care and attention. Our wonderful server, Teagahn, was full of smiles and positive energy. She took exceptional care of us throughout the evening and made us feel completely at home. The food was spectacular and far exceeded our expectations. We've experienced everything from hole-in-the-wall gems to high-end restaurants such as Michael Mina, and Skogen ranks very high on our list--honestly, even better than Hell's Kitchen. Every plate placed in front of us was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The lobster salad and lobster bun were delightful starters. Our swordfish and filet were cooked perfectly, with balanced flavors and well-proportioned servings. What elevated the experience even further was watching Skogen's remarkably talented young kitchen team--mostly in their late teens and early twenties--handle a very busy dinner service like seasoned professionals. They were focused and polished, yet still friendly and personable. A special shoutout to Dominic, Teagahn, Rosalinda, Lance, and Joseph, the executive chef and owner. The combination of amazing food, genuine hospitality, and an outstanding team made our anniversary dinner one we will not forget. Our entire experience at Skogen was exceptional. It is highly recommended and absolutely worth planning your visit around!

They even were really accommodating for my son who just wanted a plain ol' meat and cheese sandwich (and they'll conveniently wrap up what you don't eat to take home!). I was so happy they had gluten-free bread available. Then the question was if I could have some of the meats so they were happy to look at the ingredient lists for me, which I really appreciated. I got the Italian and it was loaded with meat, mostly pepperoni, which quite honestly I would have done differently. I would have placed more emphasis on the other meats, but still, it was very good. Now were I dock a star is the sad gluten-free bread they gave me. It was clearly the last two slices of the loaf (yes, I got the butt) and if you know gluten-free bread, you know those slices at the ends are VERY SMALL. They don't like quite so small in my photo, but they were. I would personally not have served a sandwich using those. It made it hard to eat because the meat was so much larger and really, I kinda just felt like I was gypped a little. The interior itself isn't anything special...at all, lol. But I can get over that when they at least had a few tables to sit at and the employees were helpful and kind. I would make your way here if you're passing through!
