The purple ube coffee latte is where it's at!Calling all coffee lovers -- especially those who love trying fun and unique drinks. Come for the pastries, but don't leave without getting the ube latte. This bakery completely surprised me -- can't believe it's right here in Lexington! The pastry selection is amazing -- colorful, creative, and full of flavors like ube, taro, and matcha. They've got both sweet and savory options, and I may have left with way too many pastries... but I had to sample and share with the family, of course. Such a fun spot -- definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

Located next to Lexington staple Pho Saigon, Purple Yum offers a rare treat of mochi donuts, select breads (called buns), and cakes! We got 8 different items to try and my fab was the caramel mocha donut and the coconut cream bun. Most of the other buns were nice but not sweet enough for me. I did not like the mango cake--was basically pastry dough with unsweetened whip cream and fruit. Service was nice once we got up to the counter. I kinda of which there was so sort of interactive component before that since walking in you don't know what to expect. Overall space is super cute and perfect for a little sweet treat or afternoon date.

On a trip to Lexington I decided to swing by this Purple Yum Bakery. It has a beautiful and aesthetic interior, it opened 2 months ago so the cushioned seats are still really clean. The inside is massive so there is a lot of seating for those who want a quiet place to sit down and chat. They have each of the buns in a self service with instructions (use tongs please don't touch the buns with your hands) each bun is priced at 2.99. Now the breakdown: Taro bubble tea-- clear tapioca pearls, fair size for the price (6$) Ube Mochi Donut-- mochi donut texture is soft and bouncy-- the cereal is a bit stale and it's hard to taste the ube over the sugary cereal Oreo chocolate lava bun-- thick melted dark chocolate filling, soft bread it tastes more like a chocolate bun instead of an "Oreo bun" (there isn't much cream to counter the rich chocolate for the balance Pork floss bun-- this was my childhood growing up and I've had a difficult time finding a bakery that has the same amount of mayo/sauce as my memories but this one does!! It tastes saltier than how I remembered but I was transported back to early 2000s with this one. If I lived here I can see myself coming at least once a week to treat myself! There is a diverse range of buns and that's not even taking the cakes into consideration.

Hmmmm, i'm not sure what to say. The space is very cute and cozy. The service was great. Let me preface this by saying I am an absolute foodie and I love a Filipino bakery, but I'm not sure the differences between this Asian bakery and a Filipino bakery. I tried four separate things today and it cost $12 A durian pastry, the pork floss pastry, a coconut pastry, and some kind of garlic butter pastry. Nothing hit with me. It's not bad but it's just not for me. All of the items were bland without much flavor. The pork pastry had a very weird texture and aftertaste. They did have several cakes that looked very delicious and the coffee looked good, but I haven't tried those things yet. Based on the variety and the things I tried today, I probably won't be visiting again. If I'm in the area, I might swing by to try the coffee, but I can't see myself going out of the way to come here. I wish they had turons.

Super tasty pastries!! Things are less sweet and less greasy than American pastries. Beautiful and clean inside, nice service. Amazing addition to Lexington!!

WOW! The varied assortment of cakes and donuts were a treat! I loved the mochi donuts and the caramel cream filled donut. AMAZING It's definitely worth checking out to try some new desserts. The interior was impeccably clean and the service was 10/10. I am so happy I tried Purple Yum Bakery Cafe!!!

Such a cute space! I stopped in right before they closed, so I don't feel like I got the full experience, but even just being in there for a few minutes was a delight! The aesthetic has been carefully planned and exciting is so pretty and cute. You grab a tray and tongs and pick out your baked goods, then take them to the front counter to pay. If they're to go, the cashier puts them in a plastic container. They also have free WiFi for people who want to do remote work there, so I'll definitely be back for that! I bought one savory and one sweet bun, and they were both delicious. I kind of expected them to be a little stale since I got them at the end of the day, but they were still super fluffy.

I've never been to an Asian Bakery before, so decided to try this. I ended up getting 3 pastries and a drip coffee. It's self serve where you put your pastries on a tray, go to the counter to pay where they package it up for you and they make your drinks. I picked a veggie japanese curry bun, red bean bun thing, and pumpkin spice donut. It was nice having some savory yet sweet vegetarian pastries, while also getting my pumpkin fix. Unique and pretty good! Coffee was decent. They have some seating for eating there, and everything is labeled well.

Purple Yum Bakery is open. If you've ever been To Paris Baguette, this is a smaller version, and Chinese as opposed to Korean. I bought a few items and had a brief chat with the lady at the counter. You select your baked goods, place them in a tray and take them to the counter. Very cute little place. More Ube coming. It is, after all, called Purple Yum. just go! 36

Great food and pastries, the service is always helpful! The overall ambience is great as well. My Chinese family loves going here for Asian pastries. The moon cakes were made just like how my auntie makes them. I definitely recommend!

Finally made it to Purple Yum Bakery Cafe in Lexington after hearing good things! This place is fairly new (only been open a couple months) and you can definitely tell - everything looks super clean and modern inside. Really pretty aesthetic too. I ordered a couple of things on my visit. Started with their taro boba tea which was solid - they use clear boba and the sweetness level was perfect without asking for modifications. Not overpowering at all. The ube mochi donut looked amazing and had this really nice chewy texture, though I think the cereal topping might've been sitting around a bit too long? Tasted slightly stale but honestly didn't ruin it for me. Their oreo chocolate lava bun was next level though! Filled with rich dark chocolate that wasn't too sweet - sometimes these dessert places go overboard with sugar but they nailed the balance here. But okay, the real winner was the pork floss bun. I wasn't expecting much but wow... the mayo inside tasted exactly like kewpie (the good stuff!) and with those seaweed flakes on top it totally reminded me of a tuna mayo onigiri. Such a unique combo and absolutely delicious. Definitely coming back to try more of their Asian fusion baked goods. Great addition to the Lexington food scene!

We tried the pineapple bun, green tea mochi donut , custard tart and coconut cream bun and coconut parlar.

Beautiful and delicious. recommend . A delight to the eyes! Such a novel place in little old Lexington KY. The manager is very friendly. Can't wait to go back and try more of the buns.

I LOVE the new cafe! Lexington needed an aesthetic Asian cafe, there's so many bakery items to choose from, I've had the coconut cream bun and the strawberry cake and they were delicious! Iced lattes are also good but the cups for the hot coffee are a little flimsy and the lid pops off easily which created a mess in my husband's car. Minor issue aside, I love it here! You definitely have a repeat customer out of me!

Its chocolate/espresso mouse and vanilla, but the cake was dry and I couldn't taste any espresso or coffee flavor at all. I had a dirty chai latte and it was a lot sweeter than I expected granted I should have asked for it to be less sweet. The house coffee is on a little acidic side as well. Not the bitter chocolate notes of coffee. The many people are there to help but its a little chaotic ordering. I also think it would be helpful if they added signs or names for the individual cake slices, so customers know what they're choosing without having to ask. Overall, the experience didn't quite meet my expectations. Maybe I'll give it another try in the future, but this visit missed the mark for me.
