Fast, cheap, and excellent work! This was the first time I decided to try out Purple Tie and I'm loving them so much. I got the heels on my boots replaced - It had already rubbed down to the plastic part of my boot heel. The boot heels are flat wide kind, not a typical pointed heel - so I wasn't expecting any delicate work to be done. I put my boots there on Monday, got them back on Thursday and they looked as good as new. They had covered up the plastic part that was showing, coloring it black - very impressive work. They only charged me $15.99 even though the price range for heels is 11.99 to 19.99 at their discretion (I had thought they'd charge the max price, but they didn't!). Definitely worth it and extremely convenient. : ) I'm definitely throwing all my shoes in there from now on. read more

This is our fourth attempt to find a good dry-cleaner and so far so good - - Prices are reasonable- At other places I've seen up to $5/shirt, but these guys charge $1.60 and pants were $4.79. I had eight items done, applied my $10 discount coupon, and paid $9. That's awesome. I'll update the price comments once I do a run of dry cleaning sans coupon, but this is a good start to our relationship! - They come to work, and pick it up, and deliver it back to work again. It's beautiful, like having a mom again doing your laundry! Anything that saves me or my husband an errand and gives us more time to do what we like is a great service- and I've worn a few of the items already and they are clean and ironed. Purple Tie gets high marks for convenience and great service. I can drop off and pick up my dry cleaning at work Monday or Thursday (well, mostly my wife's dry cleaning - so I better remember to pick it up on Monday!). The re-usable laundry tag, complete with ID tag is green (as green as dry cleaning gets at least) and keeps them from mixing up orders. The dry cleaning service has been flawless, and they've often fixed small items (buttons, small tears) at no charge. Customer service has even called me when they need to keep one item for a bit longer to repair it to make sure it's ok. They also have shoe repair and other services that seem convenient, though for some things, I'd rather find a real expert. The pricing isn't outrageous for shirts or pants ($5 for pants), but suits, dresses and specialty items like blankets can be a bit more expensive. On the other hand, I don't get the weird "cat pee" dry cleaning smell that I've noticed with some other dry cleaners in the area, so maybe it's worth the extra price to not smell like a litter box... read more

I tried out their corporate dry cleaning services for the first time, and they lost my two dresses for about a week. During this time they didn't even have my order recorded in their system, so needless to say, I was pretty freaked out and angry. They eventually found the dresses, though, and I do have to say that their customer service is excellent. The operator I first spoke to made personal follow-up calls to me to update his progress on finding my dresses, and assured me that I would be compensated in the worst case scenario. I love that I can drop off my dry cleaning next to the kitchen where my morning coffee awaits. I'm terrible at actually getting errands done, and at least half of what I wear is dry clean only, so I'm thrilled Purple Tie offers such a reasonably priced service. I've heard it might not be the best for really fancy things with a lot of intricate details, but luckily I don't own anything like that. The only complaint I have is that once they dry cleaned pants when I asked them to wash/press them. The price is the same (for pants) and the pants didn't look ruined, so... not going to freak out too much. Overall, I'm rather impressed with the quality. read more

We've now used Purple Tie for 4 years. They give us easy service for pick up delivery. The cleaning is excellent. They give great service for dress shirts. Good job of cuffing new suit trousers. (They called to ask if I wanted 1 and half or 2 inch cuffs.) My wife dresses for work and praises PT. The prices may not be the cheapest but less than others we tried in Menlo Park/Redwood/Palo Alto. We go online for pickup, have our own purple bag. They pick up same day, return in two days, one day is extra. PT people are savvy, efficient, and a delight to work with. For so long now (nearly 2 years), my husband and I were taking our dry cleaning to some over priced place in Palo Alto, where 1) the price were ridiculously high...but apparently "low" for PA, and 2) customer service was lacking beyond belief -- the woman who owns the place needs a lesson in bed-side manner. One day, I thought to myself...there's got to be another option -- and sure enough, after doing some research on Yelp, I came across Purple Tie. The quality of dry cleaning (having an on site plant), attention/detail to material and the types of dry cleaning done, price points, and customer service are impeccable. From time-to-time, I drop off cultural outfits (e.g. saris etc) that require special attention given the handwork, embroidery etc -- I received two follow up calls prior to Purple Tie dry cleaning the clothing to ensure that I was okay w/ the type of dry cleaning they were going to do to prevent any harm to the embroidery etc. I was really pleased with the attentiveness and quality of their work. Aside from that, I typically drop off my husband's button down shirts -- they allow you to specify the level of starch you would like applied, something that the other cranky lady in PA never bothered to ask. All in all, coming to Purple Tie has been one the best decisions I've made since moving to the Bay. I highly recommend them given how particular (some would say "picky") I am when it comes to dry cleaning. read more

Their service and tailoring is also great--they even put new buttons on when needed, and have patched a couple of shirts that were in need after a call to ask if we wanted it done. It was like a big factory warehouse type of deal, Was cheap as i only dry cleaned my Ties for $4 each which i did 5 ties. If you buy on their yelp page they have a really awesome deal which is $10 for a $20 voucher. Which made the ties like $2 each. Looks like they service big companies and buniess as they have cars coming in and out dropping clothes off. That individual people like us get some good pricing but you can tell we are defiantly not their number 1 priority. All my ties were nice and clean except for one which i have got a curry stain on my white tie of course. You can barley see it so they didi get a good chuck of it out but i wasn't to worried as i only paid $2 :) to get it clean . Overall i like this place very much but the only thing is not really sure how long dry cleaner takes but it took them 4 days just to clean those ties. They say "upfront pricing" but then charge me more than the rate chart they provided to my employer (in their defense, when I questioned it they did offer me a credit). The second attempt of using their service was dry cleaning to remove a stain (which did not get removed) and hemming two pairs of pants and one pair was returned to me still being too long. Don't bother using them unless you can tell them to their faces what you want. Their delivery service is horrid. read more

It was my first time using purple tie, long story short we dropped an item off on the weekend for dry cleaning to be picked up mid week. We used this one item as a trial item per suggestion of an employee. We later picked up the item and were satisfied we let them know we would drop off the remaining items we had. To this they let us know we could pick them up on Monday! We needed the items waaaay earlier than this. Thankfully we spoke to Eddie ( the manager) and he was very understanding of the whole situation. He helped us figure everything out. We left beyond satisfied! You'd think that having a dry cleaners that comes by our place of employment to pick up your dry cleaning would be such a great convenience (only to have them damage your items). I had sent in my Winter White coat to be cleaned. My coat came back full of black lint. I sent it back so they could fix it; it took them two weeks to bring my coat back. My coat came back looking dingy and fuzzy. I am very sad over this. I was going to give them another chance and have my black coat cleaned but, after my colleagues blouse came back snagged, I decided against it. Did a load of laundry service with them and the services were efficient and inexpensive. Second time they up charged me per item. Mind you, the same exact service was requested as the first time. So a $23 dollar load of laundry turned out to be $100. I asked for my clothing to not go into the dryer, that's it. No where on their site does it say they charge "per item" simply not to put my clothes in a dryer. I did not ask for ironing or dry cleaning service. Very dissatisfied and still working on my refund. read more

Convenient service, yet over-priced and horribly executed. Dry cleaning: Any decent dry cleaner should be able to dry clean a simple white dress shirt and remove basic dirt from regular wear. But not Purple Tie! My shirt was returned to me with the same familiar dirty collar as when I dropped it off. I emailed their customer service and received a prompt response to drop it off again and they'll redo the cleaning free of charge. A few days later I receive the shirt and once again- dirty shirt. Alterations: Their alteration service states that you can write any simple alteration instructions and they'd get done. I have used them a dozen times now so I can fairly gauge their accuracy, which is 50%. Half of the times, my items were sent back to me without anything done to them, yet I was charged. I've had to email them asking for a re-do, and wait another few days to get my item back the way I instructed. So it takes about 2 weeks to get an item altered correctly. I'm not requesting any fancy alterations either. Just simple hemming to either shorten the length of sleeves or length of the dress shirt. How do you mess that up? I don't know. Alteration quality: I've requested that a shirt be hemmed up to shorten the length, and the hemming was done backwards (or inside-out), where the stitching is showing on the outside instead of the inside. Think about that for 5 seconds. Why would they alter a shirt this way and send it back to me? Answer: because there's no quality control. This shirt was redone and again it took 2 weeks to get it the way I wanted it. (I'm almost convinced this place is entirely run by robots because anybody with eyes would not have let such a mistake be sent to a customer). So why am I such a sucker for repeatedly giving them chances when they repeatedly fail to follow simple, clear alteration instructions or clean simple items properly? Because they were so convenient: drop off clothes, pick them up. But no more! I'm tired of having to audit every item I submit to them that they repeatedly fail to deliver on due to lack of quality control. If you fail at alterations and fail at dry cleaning, what's left? Answer: Nothing. Move along now. read more

I can't believe I have to write this review. I was a loyal Purple Tie customer for the past 5 or 6 years. They have always been great. I loved the convenience and how clean my clothing and table linens were. I recently sent them a cashmere blanket for dry cleaning. There is a tag on the blanked that says "100% Cashmere - Dry Clean Only" so I didn't feel the need to add special instructions to my order. Imagine my surprise when it came back and had been machine washed. The blanket was half its size and twice as thick as it should be. For you fiber noobs, this is called "felting" and is irreversible. I contacted customer service and Eddie asked that I send the blanket back for inspection. I did, and when he contacted me, he said sure enough, they messed up. This blanket was a gift a few years ago and I wanted to replace it, so I sent him links to the manufacturer's website showing MSRP ($473) as well as to some online retailers showing current market replacement price ($425). He came back offering me a $200 refund and $50 cleaning credit. Um...what? That does not replace my blanket. I said as much and he came back with a $300 refund and $25 cleaning credit saying this is "above and beyond what any cleaner would do." Nice try. That still does not replace the blanket. I understand it's a luxury item, and that's a pretty high price tag for a *blanket* of all things. But that doesn't change the fact that there was a tag--A VERY OBVIOUS CARE TAG--that got ignored and the blanket got completely destroyed in the process. He tried to tell me that I should go buy a replacement item from eBay (same brand, different style, different color). Um, no. Then he said Williams Sonoma also offers cashmere blanket that are only $250 and that maybe I can find something similar there. Seriously?!?! What kind of customer service is that? All the while, he's saying "I want to take care of you" and "I want you to be happy with the resolution here." You know what would make me happy? Full replacement value for something you completely f-ed up. Bottom line, he wouldn't do it and Purple Tie has just lost a loyal customer. And before you ask, no the blanket was not blue. read more

Oh my goodness, how I love Purple Tie! My current job is the first company I have worked for that offers Purple Tie. Prior to that it was such a hassle getting my dry cleaning done as more dry cleaners aren't open at the time I would get off work. I really appreciate how much easier my life has become thanks to this convenience. I encourage all my coworkers to sign up for it, because not only do they do dry cleaning, they also wash comfortors, fix shoes and purses (even unexpected repairs like fixing stitching on a vintage purse), and alterations. Many years ago I used Laundry Locker, which wasn't quite the same but had the convenience factor. At some point though, they ruined a dress of mine and refused to take ownership of it, and wouldn't even give me a dry cleaning credit. I went from fan to writing nasty Yelp reviews. I've had a couple mistakes take place with Purple Tie (not ruining any items though, but just misunderstanding instructions such as resoling the wrong pair of shoes), but they have the best customer service, always going to great lengths to make any mistake wrong, and doing it with a metaphorical smile . Yesterday I had the pleasure of talking to Eddie on the phone as I had dropped off two shoes, one to have the complete sole re-done and the other to just be resoled at the heel. They switched the instructions by mistake, so Eddie not only told me to drop the shoes off and they'd repair it for free, but credited me $10 for my troubles. I can't say enough about this service. Price is also pretty average as far as these services go. Will keep using them and raving about them! read more

This review is for the shoe repair service. I simply needed the inner soles replaced in a pair of boots, I found this place online and thought I'd give it a try. Turns out it's a big warehouse where they dry clean on-site. The guy at the desk was really friendly. He told me it would take 4 days! I was really looking for a place that would do it on the spot. He then we can do it in 2 days so I said OK. These are $300+ all leather boots. I collected the boots and they now have a cheap thin plastic inner sole which is not even stuck down properly - for $20! I will definitely need get them redone. Service was very friendly and the dry cleaning operation looked legit, just don't get your good shoes done here. read more

WARNING: Purple Tie does NOT always read the care instructions and may damage your clothing! Our office has been using Purple Tie for four years, and I have been pleased with their work, and we love our delivery guy. But this year they have ruined two very special items of mine. The first was a loose-fitting cashmere/wool Eileen Fischer sweater-jacket that I had splurged on, had worn just a few times and was having cleaned for the first time. When it was returned, I was horrified to find that it had been badly shrunken and that the sweater (which had been loose enough to wear as a jacket) was so tight that when I sat down the front opening along the buttons pulled open. The very nice customer service rep suggested that I return the $300 sweater to Nordstrom since they had an excellent return policy. I was horrified that Purple Tie would not take responsibility for their error and refused to contact Nordstrom since they were NOT the ones who had cleaned and shrunken my sweater. I was asked to send the item back to Purple Tie to try again. When returned the sleeves were shrunken more and were so tight that they fit like a wet suit, and the once-soft cashmere/wool fibers were hard and crunchy. They obviously had dry cleaned the garment and had not read the wash-in-cool water care instructions. After refusing to accept $100 for my $300 item, the amount of $200 was finally agreed upon, and I was asked to return the ruined sweater to them. I have a feeling that they thought that if they had not asked me to send the damaged sweater back to them that I would go next to Nordstrom to try to collect another $300 from them. Very sad. Sadder yet, Nordstrom no longer carried that item and was not able to locate another one for me in any of their stores. Because of this experience, I decided to have Purple Tie clean only my work slacks, suit jackets and blouses but NO sweaters. Last month I sent them a blouse, worn only on special occasions and which had been cleaned a few times. Purple Tie called and said that the rhinestone (or cut-glass stone) on the top of three of the five buttons was missing. I could not figure out why and suggested that they look in my Purple Tie bag. The customer service rep said that the blouse had already been cleaned, and that was when the missing button tops were noticed. I have been very angry about this and have spent three weekends searching for similar buttons but have not found any that even resemble the original ones. When Purple Tie offered to compensate me for the blouse, I said that it wasn't about money but about special items that could not be replaced. The rep then acknowledged that the care instructions had not been followed and that the blouse had been dry cleaned instead of washed and that the solution must have attacked the adhesive that secured the rhinestone to the top of each button. So go ahead and use their service for items that are fairly standard but NEVER for items that are costly or that cannot be replaced. read more

Outstanding care from professionals who are perfectionists. These folks will see damage you may have not noticed in your favorite sweater and along with a lovely dry cleaning job will fix it! I especially love how inexpensive and beautiful Purple Tie inserts pockets where a manufacturer was either 'lazy' or 'cheap' 'to leave the side pockets out' of a lovely dress or cardigan. Do not use them for tailor and hem jobs! Way overpriced! I used to like you guys- a bity pricey for my dry cleaning but we've been using you guys a lot. But, this last time I sent over a blanket to be washed and a pair of pants to be hemmed and my husband had a $10 off coupon. I saw your pricing placed the pants hem at $13.99 and up and the wash of the blanket somewhere around the same price. You guys 'charged' $20 for hem! I've taken my pants to lots of of other tailors around the area and none have charged me that much for the same type of work. I measured these myself (by the way, I never got my safety pins back) and not only was the hem too long, I feel you way overcharged us so you would still get paid even though we had the $10 coupon! I say this because the blanket we washed, as delicate as it was, was only priced at $13 or $14- if anything, I thought this would have cost more than the pants. Well, I know now, I won't be taking any more of my items to you for tailoring. read more

I was excited to try Purple Tie for the first time, especially since I am recovering from a work injury and my apartment's laundry facility is downstairs, only takes quarters, has curfew, and is inconvenient. I spoke with the manager Eddie for an estimate and he was extremely polite, informative, and friendly. He listed out my options, and I decided on the pick up and drop off at my door with next-day turnaround. I had three bags for wash and fold, and I wrote on a post it on one bag that the clothes inside were for a low dryer setting only. The delivery man arrived this evening, right on time. I got my wash and fold bags, but I also received all of the clothes that were in the post-it note bag individually hung on wire hangers and wrapped in garment bags. Each garment bag had an individual receipt for dry cleaning. I did not authorize any of my items to be dry cleaned. I got a voicemail *after* my items were already delivered, saying they laundered the items according to their care instruction tags in order to "play it safe and prevent items from being damaged." I called back and explained that playing it safe would be to call your client before you upgrade them to a more expensive service that they never authorized in the first place. He apologized for the unauthorized service, and cancelled the cost of the dry cleaning and charged me for the standard wash and fold instead. I appreciate that I received my refund, and my clothes came back beautifully laundered and in excellent condition, but the unauthorized service and fees makes me very hesitant to try Purple Tie again. --Monica read more

I really enjoy the convenience of at-work laundry pick-up and drop-off, however, on two separate occasions, my white dry-cleaned shirts have come back with black stains on the collar. Both times they even had the audacity of adding the little "we couldn't get the stains out" tag to the shirts! read more

The concept is great but the execution is not so. This goes for any dry-cleaning service that crams all the clothes onto a van so the wrinkles are now set in before you get them. I have received pants that were not even touched (I noticed the crotch wrinkles were still there). They gladly re-did them but did that have to even happen? read more
