PurpleTie has always deserved a positive review from me, but this time they really went over the top for extraordinary service. They packaged up my "lost" iPhone adapter and attached it to my delivered order. Thank you so much as those adapters are easy to lose and pain to order another. As for the delivery and service for laundering and pressing my work shirts, I absolutely love this place. You drop off on a Monday and they return on a Thursday for us working at Google. So happy this company is there since they are reliable and take care of my clothes really well. Couldn't ask for more from a dry cleaning company. I regret sending my nice things to PurpleTie. The bar codes they've ironed on to my shirts have ruined them! They placed them directly on the fabric of one shirt, making it unwearable. They placed them on the tags of my expensive blouses, so they no longer have resale value and the tag is scratchy now. And they don't warn you about it either. They charge too much for the convenience to be worth it. I shouldn't be charged at all for my items to be returned to me ruined, let alone how much they charge for a simple shirt. Go anywhere else and you'll get a better experience unless you truly don't care about your clothes. Companies who partner with them - please choose another option!! Man oh man, those of you that have read a few of my reviews know that I'm all about ways to compensate for my laziness. I am not a big fan of going to the cleaners simply because they are never open when I need them to be. I'm a parent, and a guy who works with a lot of people in Europe and Asia, so my mornings and evenings are already packed. How I'm I supposed to drive to the cleaners when I need to make a 7:00 am phone call? That's where Purple Tie comes in. Our workplace has a cabinet and a regular pickup/dropoff schedule (Mon/Thurs), and I looked at it for years before I saw The Wife using it and wearing dry clean only clothes that weren't dirty, so I gave it a shot. I dropped off a bag with my clothes (complete with a very stubborn mustard stain) and an order form (with a credit card number, of course), and three days later I have clean (including stain removed), pressed clothes hanging in the cabinet on coat hangers are fastened together with plastic tie that for some reason is purple, and it has a complete inventory/cost receipt. They were also returned with a reusable nylon bag that has your account information on it and you never have to fill out the form again. What floors me is that I can pick up while getting my third cup of morning coffee. I try 'em again, this time with slacks that have a busted seam. Their instructions state that you should fill out a form with repairs, but I'm lazy and forgot. They called me and left a message saying they would repair them, and now the pants are returned, fixed, and ready to wear. My neighbor said they deliver to her door, which I hadn't tried but I'm sure is a little more expensive, but given the convenience, I wouldn't mind the cost. Otherwise, the costs are competitive with the local cleaners. read more

One of the trade-off's I made to afford living in Palo Alto was to give up an in-unit washer and dryer. So when laundry builds up, these are my options: 1) My apartment building's shared washer and dryer. Putting quarters in this is like putting coins in a slot machine to play Laundry Roulette. Maybe my load will come out clean and dry, but it's just as likely to be sudsy and damp. I do not care for this kind of suspense. 2) The laundromat down the street. Which would be fine if I were by myself, but having a toddler run outside every five minutes makes Mommy need a drink. 3) PurpleTie.com. I leave a couple bags of laundry next to my door. They disappear. A few nights later, they reappear, clean and folded. It's like magic! Taking a star off for minor squibbles. I wish it was less expensive, though it's comprable to other wash-and-folds and the savings to my sanity is still worth it. Also, I think they dry-cleaned a couple of garments in an order that was supposed to be just wash-and fold, though I can't tell if I was charged extra for this, and they were fragile garments that possibly deserved the extra care. read more

We used this service twice a week for a few months until we got tied of our clothes being destroyed or lossing a entire bag of clothes. They mixed all our white clothes with the dark clothes leaving all my white clothing gray and dingy looking, not to mention most of our clothes are all misshaped and don't fit right anymore. I work close to their location so I pick up. The work is not excellent as I have to lint brush quite a number of my laundered shirts after cleaning. They are clean and it saves me time having them done. It is also a kind place to my wallet as I have found better work, but with a huge price tag for my work uniform shirts that I am going with good enough. Super convenient. Now I just wish they would expand their service area. I've done the dry cleaning, the purse cleaning, and alterations. Everything was perfect. Not a single complaint. The prices aren't cheap, but it's only a couple dollars more for alterations. When I had a job with a long commute, it was tough to get to the local dry cleaners before closing time. I also dealt with the "we're so sorry, it'll be ready tomorrow" several times from the local place. WIth purpletie, it was delivered when they said it would come. No excuses. It's convenient and timely, I'll give them that. But you pay the price for convenience, the charge 20-30% more than my regular dry cleaners. My very first time trying them was not a good experience. They turned my white duvet pink! I only ordered dry cleaning, so i have no idea why they were even washing it which is the only explanation as to why it would have changed a color. The guy in charge was friendly and followed up with me quickly to help resolve my issue. I'm adding an extra star for customer service. The only issue with it was they said they cap reimbursements at about $50 if they screw your stuff up. Well bedding can be VERY expensive and that just isn't enough to pay for THEIR screw up. Luckily my duvet was affordably priced that it almost payed for the replacement, but I would not want to take expensive things here if they are not going to be 100% fully liable. why should I pay even $1 out of my pocket for THEIR screwup?! Not ok in my book. Until they change their policy on reimbursements, my business goes to my trusted dry cleaner, even if I have to spend a few extra minutes driving there. read more

So, as long as the stuff comes back clean and pressed, (which it always does) I give a dry cleaner a solid 3-4 stars. So what makes a 5? Customer service. Oh, and I guess price in this case. Purple tie is not open till 12 PM on Monday's because they are a commercial drycleaner and probably have a ton of stuff come in over the weekend from hotels and other places with huge volume. They are doing fine and have every reason to blow off customers like me who have like, 2-5 things a month...maybe. So, I show up 2 hours early around 10. Happen to see an employee walk by and flag him down. He opens up the shop *two hours _early_* to take my (small 5 item order). He's nice to me. He treats me like an important customer who came during regular business hours. The dry cleaning or shoe shining is great (I've had both), but it's the prices (which are very reasonable) and the customer service which make this place awesome. read more

Seriously, our company LOVES PurpleTie. Our delivery guy is great. PurpleTie management is great. Prices are great. Convenience is GREAT. My dog chewed a hole through my favorite pair of boots and PurpleTie was able to fix it and only charged me $11 - it was as good as new! Recently, I entrusted Purple Tie with dry-cleaning and pressing of a beautiful, high quality suit. It came back clean, but pressing did not meet my expectations: puckering on the jacket and misaligned, deep creases on the trousers (in addition to the actual correct crease). It's hard to look good with 2 or 3 creases on the front of your trousers, no matter how nice the suit. I contacted them of the issues and they offered to refund the cost of service and asked for a chance at fixing the pressing job. I'll take the refund, however, will take it elsewhere in hopes the suit can be saved without further damage. The suit means more to me than a refund- I was just married in it. I am disappointed with this sloppy pressing job. While I may still use Purple Tie for less expensive "dry clean only" items (it's convenient and not expensive), I will not bring them items that I particularly care about. read more

I've used their services about 5 times now and I think the are great! They pick up at my work on Tuesdays and return my stuff cleaned on Fridays. After a few orders, they even give you a bag to put your clothes in so you don't have to keep using a new plastic bag each time. Once you give them your credit card, they have it on file and you don't have to keep putting your credit card in with your orders. I have had them dry clean slacks, silk dresses, delicate beaded tops, silk scarves, etc - and everything has come back perfect. The reason I started using them was I was tired of that strong cancerous smell that other dry cleaners use and since their pricing is about the same, I've switched to Purpletie. Lastly and why they get a 5 star, they have called me a few times when I have sent stuff in that was really delicate just to tell me that they will take gentle care of it but there is a chance something might happen, they just wanted me to be aware. That feels better to me than a place who just does it and then hands me back a damaged dress with no care. These guys care about their work and the few times they have said it, my stuff has come back in great shape with no damage. I don't know why it took me this long to try them out. read more

I brought my coach purse in here to be cleaned. It wasn't ready when they said it would be so I was a little disappointed. Then when I went to pick it up they had only cleaned the outside and not the inside. I clearly specified to please clean both. So I had to leave it again and come back a few days later. I've been using Purple Tie since they were called CleanSleeves. Great service. Whenever I've had an especially unusual stain that was hard to get out or in need of a rush order, they always try to accommodate. When I've inquired further on a problem stain, they can recite back the entire history of that shirt's cleaning and each step in the effort to get it out. Great that you can either request on-line or by phone for evening pick ups. One less trip down town. read more

UPDATE - Despite a very bad outcome of my handbag cleaning, the guys at Purple Tie provided excellent follow-up service and made every attempt to make it right. 0-stars for handbag cleaning service, 3-stars for customer service. ORIGINAL REVIEW - DO NOT use this service for leather handbag cleaning. My company uses PurpleTie as an on-site dry cleaning service; however, I'll admit that I have only used the service this one time to have a handbag cleaned. Per a recommendation from a co-worker, I decided to use PurpleTie to have a leather handbag cleaned after an unfortunate ranch dressing incident. The bag was not ruined by the dressing, but it was now slightly discolored in a couple spots. My experience started off well. They explained that they could see the stained spots and warned me that the spots may not look any better after they are cleaned given how sensitive leather is. What happened next was where things went sour. After a 4-weeks and multiple voicemails about the delay of the cleaning I picked up the bag. It was ruined! I immediately called PurpleTie (nearly in tears) and they told me to send the bag back for them to look at. After all that, they never even looked at the bag after it was "cleaned"! After another month of them "re-cleaning" the bag, the result is a fully ruined handbag. My light pink handbag is now a tannish-orange and feels horrible. Whatever they did (twice) has now rendered this bag unusable. While they were very friendly over the phone, they still charged me $65 and only offered to try re-cleaning the bag. I took the re-cleaning offer, which helped, but the bag is still shot. You can't give 0-stars on Yelp, but I guess 1 star is fine since the guy I talked to on the phone was really nice....no help, but nice about it. read more

These people are great. You tell them an hour-long window when they can pick up your things to be dry cleaned, between 6-10pm. Two days later (or one day if you pay extra), they bring the stuff back, again within a one-hour evening window that you specify. Delivery is free if you're dry cleaning more than $20 worth, and contrary to my expectations, the prices were actually reasonable. I got three sweaters, a dress and a skirt cleaned for under $30, which I definitely would not believe coming from most dry cleaners in Palo Alto...and I never had to leave my house. I just had to open the door twice. Furthermore, I could also have just left the stuff hanging on my doorknob and they would have come and taken it without even knocking if that was how I wanted to roll. Come on. This is totally awesome. Frankly this is one of the better service experiences I've had in a while. This is a great idea for a company. I know they also operate at my workplace and I'm definitely going to check it out, but since I don't have a car, I think I'm probably better off just having them come get it at home. I could see how their service would be valuable if your job requires you to dress very nicely and there's a closet where you work. They do an OK job on shirts and pants. If you want to get some nicer items dry-cleaned every once in a while, then go somewhere else. Why? Because of those terrible barcodes. Not only are they ugly and don't come off, they can actually alter the item. I sent one of my wife's dresses in, and they put the barcode tag slightly over the designer tag onto the fabric of the dress. This caused the original tag to bunch up and scratch her neck. After careful snipping with fabric scissors she was able to get it to be wearable again. But this is not something anyone should have to deal with. In the future, I'll forgo the convenience and just take it someplace where they have to deal with mistakes face to face. read more

I think they do basics just fine - dress shirts, cheaper quality shirts. However, for things that require a little more care, well, they don't care. i have so many instances where they failed me. My last experience has made me never want to use them again even if i'm desperate. 1. Sent in a leather jacket since they had a leather deal. I didn't know they had to send it out to an outside leather specialist. The leather specialist wiped black on my grey leather jacket, leaving the worst chemical smell even after months. 2. Knicks all over nice suits 3. Burned wool pants - they probably put too much heat on the pants 4. Shoes. I sent in two shoes for repair. One had a huge leather cut and my heel was obviously broken. There was no mention of specifying what needs to be done. The shoe special said it did not cover shoe shines. When I get my shoes back, my heal is still broken but both shoes were charged shoe shines with a discount? So I called to ask about why they charged me for 2 shoe shines when it's obvious what my shoe needed. They never called to ask what service I needed and just did two shoe shines on two broken shoes. I used PurpleTie through my employer at work twice, and had bad experience for both times! First time I sent three items for dry clean and they charged me 4 items price. Second time I sent them four items and they charged me 5 items price, in addition, they charged me $59.99 for one of my jackets which no where on the pricing agreement showing a jacket could cost up to $59.99 to dry clean, even a big comfort's listing price is only $29.99. I have used Purple Tie for almost one year now, and I am very, very happy with them. The cleaning is perfect, when there is a cloth they are not sure to get 100% clean they send a warning so we know what we can expect... And so far every single cloth we made them clean was perfectly done. I love the convenience of Purple Tie. I use them every couple months or so for dry cleaning pick up at my work. It's so convenient to drop off everything at the office and then pick it up a couple days later. The turnaround time at my office is 3 days, which I find isn't so bad (my local cleaners take even longer sometimes and at my previous company it was 4 days). I also love the fact that they are a green company. After your first order, they give you a large, reusable bag to use for your dry cleaning / laundry plus you can return the hangers with your dry cleaning and they will recycle them. I've never had an incidents with missing or extra clothing in my orders, and my clothes always come back clean and pressed to my satisfaction. P.S. I've used their service a few times and have been happy with it all! B works at a location they deliver to, so we usually do our dry cleaning that way. When we housesat for a friend last month we were lucky enough to use the home service, and although a bit more expensive this way, everything was so smooth I still can't believe it. Downside? The idea of this service is great but transparency on pricing and such is lacking. Sent two bags of laundry and was billed for dry cleaning ( there was no dry clean items in the laundry ). When I called they offered to refund the dry cleaning portion bit weeks later I received a bill for the full amount. Very disappointed to be told one thing but not followed through on. Also wish they would give you an idea of weight when they pick up. Drop off service was cold and impersonal as the guy tossed laundry at me and ran out. read more

I had a loose string on an outer pocket of the purse I use every day, and it would've been a feat of sewing engineering for me to fix. Quality of service: Purple tie not only does dry cleaning, but they do laundering, alterations, wash and fold as well. I've used all of the previously mentioned services and all services have been top notch. Their services list includes shoe and purse repair, photo processing and eyeglass repair--I have yet to use these services but I'm sure I will will not be disappointed. We use the dry cleaning service the most and each time, the garments come back clean, fresh and nicely hanging. If there are problem areas or stains, they might keep a garment longer but they make sure to call and let you know what is going on and when they anticipate delivering the outstanding garment. 2) Customer Service: I've spoken on the phone with a customer service rep and have also interacted minimally with the drivers. All are professional and polite. The employees of this company have been well trained to assist the client with whatever issue needs to be addressed and they have always handled questions or other interactions in a courteous manner. 3) Customer Satisfaction: 100% satisfied. I have never had hesitation using Purple Tie's services. Plus, it's so EASY!!! (See my phone app comments) 4) Phone app: here's the good stuff... They have a phone app. Most of the time, it's a one-click process for me. I choose the "leave at door" and deliver at door option. You stuff your items into the bag they provide after your first order, and leave it outside! Your order is processed and delivered THE NEXT DAY! There is no requirement to list out what you put in the bag, no need to go to your laptop and set up an order. Stuff the bag, leave it outside. DONE. Only if you have special instructions does it take a minute or two more...but you can input this all on the app! I have used PurpleTie service from my office for a long time and have had no issues with the service. However, the pandemic hit and I did not have a need to use them since I was working from home. Then we needed our drapes cleaned and a few other items, so I looked into their home pickup/delivery service. I have had a full length wool coat for about 25 years that my grandmother had given me as a gift. The lining inside the coat was torn to shreds from random storage, moving around, and I guess wear and tear. I called PurpleTie and got Jonathan whom I asked if the interior lining repair was something they could do. Jonathan explained that they could, but they would need to look at it to provide an estimate. The following day Jonathan called and provided me the estimate which was quite reasonable. (I would have paid quite a bit to restore the coat since it has sentimental value.) The end result was AMAZING! The coat looked like new and the lining was very professionally done. I called Jonathan to thank him because that coat means the world to me. I wish I had before and after photos because the difference was literally night and day. What an absolutely wonderful service. The customer service is great, Ed, Ingrid and Arturo are a great team and they never let me feel like I am not being taken care of. The cleaning is standard for a good dry cleaner but the money is in the pressing. I sent in a linen shirt (because linen is a pain for anybody to press) and they sent it back looking fantastic. I also sent in a white shirt that I had taken to a wedding which someone got red wine on and they sent it back looking better than my expectations. Red wine is tough to get out but whoever is cleaning those stains really knows what they are doing. My boots were not too old but had taken a beating and we're looking much older than they actually were. PurpleTie sent them back looking as close as brand new as possible. Lastly, the service is quick. A lot of other people are complainers and whiners. 3 days for dry cleaning is pretty standard. Mom and pop cleaners usually take about 3 days so for PurpleTie to be able to offer a next day service through their residential (which I wish I could take advantage of) is nothing short of miraculous. Would highly recommend them and trust them with my dry cleaning and all other services they offer. read more
