My patience with PurpleTie is officially depleted. Their website says "No upcharges. No extras - No surprises!" That is such a lie with this company. Beware, they are now charging $4.99 delivery fee on every order. I have been a customer with them for over a year. You think they would alert their customers of this change in pricing. I would never have noticed, had I not looked at my last invoice. Also beware of their sneaky attempts to charge you more. I've had past orders where they took my regular wash + fold and decided to press my items. The last time this happened, they charged me $112 because of the extra pressing - that I did not even ask for! Even my gym socks were pressed and on a hanger - who in their right mind would ask for gym socks to be pressed?? The amount of plastic PurpleTie uses is absurd. They give you a reusable laundry bag, but all of your wash + fold comes back wrapped in about 4 layers of plastic wrap and then placed inside another plastic bag. Not to mention if they randomly decide to press your items.. each item comes back on it's own separate hanger with a plastic bag. I have been doing a quick scan of the Bay Area and there are other services that offer way better pricing and hopefully more environmentally friendly. read more

I sent in 19 items for dry cleaning. There were several major and minor issues with Purple Tie that are still in the process of being resolved. Review to be continued. Thus far, I strongly would not recommend purple tie's dry cleaning services. Major issues: 1) A nice wool sweater came back from dry cleaning with a long thread coming out of a sleeve. 2) a cashmere wool hat came back with the entire hat full of piling to the point where it is unwearable. Minor issues: 1) Branded my nice work pants and nice line pants with a dry cleaning tag that cannot be removed -- it's literally seared into the fabric. Both pairs have their own labels, where most dry cleaners attach a dry cleaning tag. When I emailed to let purple tie know that this is not usually how other dry cleaners handle tags, they did not apologize for it and said that they do this because people had previously complained about having dry cleaning tags on the labels. No idea if this is true or not because that seems pretty ridiculous for ppl to complain about that (which is normal dry cleaning procedure) vs having the tag literally branding the fabric. read more

Well, friends I have a solution for you. It is called purple tie. The hours are great opening as late as 11 PM. They're open every day of the week except for Sunday. And guess what else the prices are competitive, services are friendly, and they do pickup/delivery. What more could you ask for my fellow Yelpers? Now to be fair I did give four stars. The reason why is I called in ahead of time for a quote for a special dry clean. And when I arrived I ended up getting charged more... Dry cleaning is ok, but giving a low rating due to quality of alterations on my jeans/pants. I've had to send my pants back (probably 6-7 pairs) a second time because they come back still too long. I tried a specific inseam (30.5"), tried rolling and safety pinning to the desired length, and even simply said take up 1.5" inches to receive each pair still too long. I have lost confidence in PurpleTie's ability to provide me and my spouse with wash & fold service and there is nothing they can do to regain my confidence. For now, I will continue using PurpleTie for our dress shirts out of convenience. My biggest concern with their wash & fold service is dye transfer. I have light/white t-shirts and undershirts that are ruined because they obviously were not separated from dark clothes. To make matters worse, some of them were returned to me on hangars with a tag saying they tried to get the stains out and did not overlook them--and then charged me $3.99 each which is more than undershirts cost! Other concerns are delayed deliveries, wrinkled clothes, unfolded clothes, and extra charges for items that were supposed to be washed & folded. At least I can iron wrinkled clothes, fold unfolded clothes, and dispute extra charges. I cannot wear ruined clothes. I would have gladly paid PurpleTie a premium for wash & fold service so I could enjoy the weekend with my spouse. Instead, I am reluctantly spending Saturday mornings at the laundromat. read more

I have been a purple tie user for over a decade and just love them. The ease of having them pick up and drop off our dry cleaning is amazing. I used to forget to pick-up our dry cleaning for weeks! They also always seems to go above and beyond if there is any question about how to care for garments. They have called attention to some items that had small tears/holes and fixed them for me. Even today I got a call about their experience with dry cleaning a certain fabric to make sure I was ok with taking a risk. I've been using Purple Tie's laundering and dry cleaning services for almost two years. I even set them up to pick up my bosses laundry as needed. It's so easy and such a relief! They pick up and drop off! They are on point 98% of the time and every once in a while, our delivery date is pushed back an extra day, so make sure to leave a day of cushioning if you're awaiting something that is for a specific date (aka wedding party etc). They deliver and pick-up residential or commercial. All the employees down in the front taking in clothes (and/or curtains or bedding etc) and the ones I've corresponded with in the back office (that handle establishing accounts over the phone mostly) have had an A+ attitude with a knack for customer service and making things run smoothly, as best they can. I've got a little bit of extra funds to support my mostly non-laundry filled days and nights... and let me tell you, I'm so thankful for that. Their prices are extremely reasonable so it truly does not take that much extra to hand it all over to them. Big thanks to Purple Tie for handling those dreary tasks! Seriously, they're the worst. They've broken the buttons on more than ten of my blouses, and replaced them with tacky buttons that don't match. They lost a shirt of mine, and damaged another, then lowballed me on reimbursement costs since I'd already worn it twice and it wasn't technically new. They iron in wrinkles and pucker fabric around the seams on shirts. They accidentally laundered a silk blouse, then claimed it was still "wearable" because, technically, it was intact as a garment, (no holes, even though it was a size smaller and covered in pilling.) Laundered items seem to come out more dirty. Soft sweaters are now scratchy. Shoe repairs are the worst of all -- they put hiking boot soles on my Lanvin ballet flats. For real. They lost the strap on my Chloe sandals when I sent them in to their shoe repair, then spent over a month in nearly comedic back-and-forth with inadequate attempts to replace the strap (including one where the replacement strap was so tiny I couldn't even wear it as a bracelet.) They have one poor guy whose job it is to respond to complaints; he's very nice, and continually repeats lines like, "I can see we clearly disappointed you here, and didn't live up to our own expectations of service." However, when asked how it will be fixed for next time, he admits that they have no intention of changing their service. They're profitable through locking in companies (just like my employer) to do corporate pickup in office parks, and thanks to fools like me who keep using them out of convenience, they have no motivation to actually do a good job. Never again. They put terrible scratchy barcodes that won't come off over the designer labels of all of your clothing, instead of on the underside like good dry cleaners. They wreck your buttons, shred your silk blouses, fade the colors of everything, and wrap it all in excessively wasteful layers of plastic (so much for their "eco friendly" washing.) These guys are seriously, laughably terrible. Spend the extra money and go with Peninou for some actual professionals, or Laundry Locker for decent and reliable dry cleaning. read more

Finding a quality dry cleaner is tough. PurpleTie is great for many reasons. 1) Everyone in my company uses them, so they know they have to be good or else they lose 200 customers 2) I drop off my dry cleaning in the mail room and pick it up 3 days later. Since I am physically in the office building by 9, I get paid for dropping off and picking up my clothes 3) They have my dad's cc on file, so all my dry cleaning is free for me 4) They're so cheap! The dry cleaners across the street charge 40% more (I'm an accountant, trust me on the math) Now, there are a few notes, nothing is simple. 1) I don't talk to a person before dropping off my clothes, so I can't ask for recommendations on which service to use for cleaning, or for someone to assure me that stain X can be removed. However, you can call them or ask them to call you to discuss options. I've done this, they're very friendly. 2) They have arbitrary methods for selecting how to clean something (cheaper laundry vs dry clean vs hand press vs machine press), and there's no one to ask why they did something unless of course, you call. You are given the option to write down how you want your cleaning performed, but I find that this takes too much time. 3) I don't know how this happened, but my dark black sweater turned to a light black after only one cleaning. The white tags turned yellowish-brown. My identical black sweater (I thought I lost the first one so I bought a second, then found the first) has been washed many times before by others and never lost color. read more

CONS: Horrible execution, clothes come back dirty, bonus animal hairs (I don't own a pet) PROS: No harsh chemicals used, no chemical smells, convenient workplace delivery What good are the pros if the clothes sometimes come back dirtier than when I dropped them off? The first time I used PurpleTie's service, one of my black pants came back looking awful. The pants came back dirty and had white lint all over it. There was even a triangular mark on the waistband which might have been from an iron. They offered me a $10 credit, but I can't remember if they actually gave it to me. The fourth time I used their service, two articles of clothing came back dirty. I had a stain on my shirt that seemed untouched even though I included a note with my laundry to pay special attention to it. The pants were dirty again and came back with pet hair. I don't even own a pet. I sent my clothes back for a redo as per their email instructions. Even with my email and sticky notes on the clothes, PurpleTie didn't "see" the problems again. I received a nasty voicemail saying that they couldn't find anything wrong, but they would redo the laundry. I had to call back and tell them what the issues were again and received an apology. One more thing about this drama, they even tried to charge me for the redo of my shirt. read more

I really, really wanted to love Purple Tie. And I'm not even very picky. But using them just once leads me looking for other options. It's really, really not a good choice for wash and fold service. On the bright side, it is convenient. But... 1. Two day turnaround and no weekend service. This means that if you want your clothing for the weekend you need to get it picked up on Wednesday (or pay 15% extra for one day service). 2. VERY pricey for wash and fold. I'm not all that cost sensitive, but... wow. I couldn't believe that about 1.5 weeks' worth of laundry cost like $55 (plus another 15% for one-day turn around). 3. They ripped one of my favorite sweaters really badly. They *did* call me about it, and I thought when they'd called that this tear was already there. I was thinking of a different one though (the sweater has "coat tail" like stitching on the back, and a thread or two is missing there -- very minor), and told them that I think the tear was already there. No. It wasn't. This is MASSIVE damage that was definitely, absolutely, not there. It's a giant clump of frayed fabric hanging down like 2 inches. Wow. 4. My bags came back with a few items that were definitely not mine (mostly socks). I can only assume therefore that I'm going to wind up missing a bunch of items over time if I keep using it. I mean, seriously. You're a laundry service. One of the key things to get right is not losing clothing! 5. One of my husband's dress shirts (of the 3 or 4 we sent) came back folded up and completely wrinkled. read more

Started using them as they serve people in Amazon Sunnyvale, so far only disappointment and getting reimbursed multiple times as they always fuck up something. 1 - Dropped my clothes on Sep 28th, it was supposed to be returned on Oct 1st. Nothing was returned, I checked their drop zone over two different buildings, nothing, no phone call. I call them and learn my clothing was delivered to another company but will have it back on Oct 5th (no clothes for another 5 days). Oct 5th, nothing comes, no phone call again. I call today (Oct 6th), wait on the line for 10m then the lady tells me she will call me back... 2 - Previously, put Wash & Fold clothing in the bag, put a paper inside saying "Press/Hung Shirt x 4" had my shirts plus another 2 shorts pressed. $2.19 for each dress shirt, $5.49 for each old cloth shorts I use to stay at home. How does this pricing make sense? I would not recommend cleaning any clothing you care about with them, as it can apparently easily be lost. read more

I am a big fan of this place and I'll tell you why. I started working at a new place and I wanted to get our linen laundered. I saw a purple bag and I put 16 pieces table cloths inside the bag. I asked someone if I need to put any information on there and they said "N, we have an account with them." I thought great and I continued to put the items in the bag. A week and a half go by and I don't see the linen I put in the bag so I decided to call and speak to Ingrid at the customer service desk to inquire about when the linen would be delivered. After several minutes, there was no trace of where my linen was because there wasn't any information written on there. I was freaking out because this linen is expensive and I thought what am I going to do. At this point, it was elevated to Eddie who is a Manager and he said we will do our best to try and locate the linen for you. I even offered to go there myself and look. A month and half go by and he's calling and checking in saying we are doing our best to try to find the linen but I really felt that the linen was delivered somewhere else and I just had to accept it. Then, a phone call comes in from Eddie and he says, we found your linen. It will be laundered and delivered on Friday. I was so HAPPY because I knew this was my fault for not labeling the bag with any information but what I appreciate the most was how diligent and determined Eddie and the people at Purple Tie to find this and take care of me. My company provides free (well, we pay tax) laundry service through PurpleTie. For the most part, I enjoy the perk. I toss my laundry bag in the closet on Monday or Thursday, and I get it back a few days later. They also are fairly arbitrary on what shirts they decide to press vs. just wash and fold. However, having used the service over the past six months, they've ruined ~$150 worth of clothing because of bleach marks. I'm told they'll reimburse the cost, but it's still frustrating that they've screwed this up at least four times so far. read more

The @Work service is very convenient, albeit a bit pricey. Generally good customer service too, with one major/frustrating exception: THEY ARE OFTEN UNWILLING TO FOLLOW YOUR EXPLICIT INSTRUCTIONS! Example: they sometimes seem to think they know better than the manufacturer of your clothes (or you) what should or should not be dry cleaned (vs. laundered). Even when I have taken the time to update my profile notes AND include handwritten instructions, I have been charged for hand-pressing and/or dry cleaning shirts (at nearly twice the price) that I clearly asked them to launder instead. If you don't want to follow your customer's instructions for some reason, simply return that item without treatment... don't just ignore them and up-charge :-( I had a similar experience when I sent them shoes for a simple shine, and they sent them back with an (unnecessary) sole replacement, at nearly 10x the cost... though they credited my account when I called to complain (see "generally good customer service" comment above). read more

Purple Tie provides corporate dry cleaning (drop off/pick up) service to our peninsula-based company. Given the convenience, the price is understandably higher than your standard dry cleaner. However, the quality of the work leaves something to be desired. I have had numerous articles of clothing returned with missing or chipped buttons. Additionally, they insist on affixing a non-removable bar code to the interior (brand) label of every piece. I wear high-end designer clothing and have asked them numerous times not to affix the bar codes, but presumably due to the volume of customers, they are unable to make exceptions. read more

I've been a PurpleTie customer for years, at different Silicon Valley companies: Google, Visa, Yahoo. You can't get any more convenient than pick up and drop off at work. They always do high quality alterations and cleaning. PurpleTie fixed the hem on pants my local dry cleaner messed up. Plus they untwisted the elastic in the waistband without me having to mention it. Nico worked with me on a special sewing project that turned out great. I asked for pockets big enough fit my iPhone 6 Plus to be added to old skirts with no pockets. The seamstress did such a great job, it looks as if the pockets have always been there. Now I'll wear the skirts longer and more often than I would have if the bottoms had no pockets. I highly recommend PurpleTie for great customer service, good email communication and convenience. read more

PROS // Cheap: Purple Tie laundry is covered by my company. Convenient: Delivered right to my workplace on Tuesdays and Fridays around 12noon. PROS THAT BECOME A CON // Presentation: They fold it for you (kinda). Then they wrap it in paper and tie it with string, then wrap that in plastic. Then, put it inside your purple tie laundry bag. A bit of a waste, if you ask me. Also gets confusing- part of your laundry is in a bundle wrapped in paper and plastic, and another part in dry cleaning hanging in plastic-covered garment bags. You can grab one but not the other and not know that you're missing something. Then, when the next time to turn in your laundry comes around, you're missing the bag to put your stuff in. You miss the drop-off. You have to wait a week for any laundry. Not good if you only have clothes enough for a week. Which, yes, I only have week's worth of clothing. I'm in the process of buying more but that's not really a good solution, is it? Hangers: For dry cleaning, they give you a LOT of wire hangers. They use a wire hanger to hang your purple tie laundry bag from. Really? Doesn't seem environmentally friendly. Wish they would allow us to recycle them. CON // Quality: Everything shrinks. They zap it with lasers or something. It's amazing. A nice soft shirt now feels like cardboard. Some shirts that are purposely meant to be big (it's the fashion or something) are now in that awkward middle ground where it's not big enough but not really the right size for a normal shirt. Go figure. Everything also fades. I'm afraid to wash my nice jackets. The result is that the things I really like are just getting more and more dirty. Catch-22? Organization: Your laundry ends up in someone else's laundry. Not good if you are a girl in a heavily male-populated company. And sometimes your laundry disappears entirely. Socks have gone missing. I just buy more at Target. -- I understand Purple Tie is trying to do a quality service. But instead of swathing every possible object in plastic, perhaps improving the quality of the clothes that come out of the washing is better. read more

They not only tried to stretch it back to normal but when that didn't fix it they provided me a brand new one free of charge. I have been using Purple Tie pretty much since I moved back to San Carlos about 7 years ago. I think they were called CleanSleeves back then but same company. I LOVE THEM! I hate bringing things to the drycleaners. I hate bringing pants to be hemmed. And I usually am disorganized so I realize I need something cleaned the week of an event. In comes Purple Tie. You make your order online, they come to pick your stuff up which you leave on your doorstep at the selected timeframe. Two days later, the items are back on your doorstep (or wherever you've asked them to leave it...you can request back door, side fence, etc.) Everything is always perfect. They hem my pants the way I ask and they'll even reheel shoes/boots or repair glasses or purses! I use them a LOT not just for drycleaning but pants and shoes. Their customer service is awesome. Kay (not sure if this is how he spells his name), who seems to be the main guy there, will actually contact you if they find a problem with your clothing. I once sent in a sweater that had some suede on it. He called to say a) there was a hole in the sweater, and b) that drycleaning would ruin the suede and he didn't want to risk it. Purple Tie has been my only trusted dry cleaning place for 5 years now. I have only nice things to say about them. My dirty laundry will always come back sparkling clean and neatly ironed AND missing buttons replaced. There was only 1 incident where the stain was still intact and once I pointed it out to the staff, they send it back immediately and got it fixed. I usually drop it off in person, but I'll definitely try out the scheduling service next time. They're very reliable, friendly and efficient. I even referred my friend to have her wedding gown dry cleaned with them. I found Purple Tie through a Groupon and have now used them twice. For convenience and customer service in my two encounters I would rate them 5 stars. Nothing easier than leaving my dirty laundry on my porch and coming home the next day to it all clean. And prices are reasonable- at least compared to my local dry cleaners. But the convenience brings a couple of trade offs. For home p/u if you don't meet the minimum amount (approx. $20), you have to pay an extra $4.99 for delivery- which is fair. The biggest trade-off is that you don't get to speak to an expert cleaner when you hand over your cherished garments. The expert can advise you about the condition of the garment and level of care required as well as any risks. You don't get this with a pick-up driver. My first order included a new dress I had worn once. When it was returned, the elastic woven around the waste was broken in several spots, and there was not mention of that by Purple Tie - they simply didn't notice it. Purple Tie rectified the situation immediately, picking it up, having a seamstress repair it, and then redeliver at no extra cost. I don't know if it was their fault, or just that the garment was susceptible to this damage- but that's the kind of thing your local expert would tell you when you hand him/her the garment in person. I should mention that in the same order I included a sweater that had patches of leather on it and they did a beautiful job cleaning it! I've seen some other reports of damage in the Yelp reviews- and to be fair- I don't know how frequent this is with regular dry-cleaners. But my advice would be that Purple Tie is great for your normal dry cleaning and laundry needs. But if you have a special garment that is precious to you - take it to a local cleaner where you can discuss it's cleaning with the expert before surrendering it. read more

We use Purple Tie at the company that I work for and it is quite awesome getting your clothes washed and folded in a nice bag within 4 days. But I don't think this is the most important part of their business. Unfortunately, in one of the loads I gave to Purple Tie, one of my jackets went missing. I looked everywhere in my house to be sure that I didn't simply misplace it. I checked everywhere at home, and I couldn't find it. I sent Purple Tie and email about this and received an email back extremely quickly. Eddie, who took care of me from the beginning to the end of the process, refunded me for the full price of the jacket that went missing allowing me to replace the jacket I loved. This is the kind of customer service that deserves a medal! I recommend Purple Tie highly and will continue to use them. read more

Using Purple Tie is like having magical elves. After using them on and off for dry cleaning and regular laundry for the past year or so, I realized: 1) I've never spoken to anyone, ever. 2) I've never seen anyone who works for this place, ever. So I don't know what exactly happens to my laundry after I leave it outside my door, but whatever it is, it's magical. Steve Jobs should come take notes from these guys. I schedule a laundry/dry cleaning pick up online on their well designed website. (Seriously, I love the simplicity of it. You log in with your phone number, and you're dumped immediately on a page that schedules a pickup for the next day. All you have to do is type in any instructions and hit submit.) I leave my laundry in a bag outside my door. Two days later, it's magically back, with shirts pressed and hung, laundry neatly folded, ironed and wrapped in brown paper and string, almost like a Christmas present. Shirts and coats can go straight into my closet, tshirts and other stuff can go straight into my closet in neat stacks. They have also conditioned my Ferragamo shoes on several occasions and always taken good care of my babies. They even once fixed a pair of glasses for me after I stepped on them and snapped the frame. They are surprisingly affordable, with two weeks of laundry and a couple shirts costing around $40 for me. read more

It is so hard to find a good dry cleaner. I wish I could use purple tie because they are convenient (pick up and drop off where I work). They returned a $200 white dress of mine with blue stains up the front. I asked for a refund and for them to pay for the dress, which they said no to both! They denied ruining the dress and blamed it on the designer! BS! They also ruined my coworkers dress shirt, same problem, blue stains on the collar and front. They must be using some bad chemicals or are not careful when cleaning. I say use with caution. read more

Purple Tie (PT) is convenient--I'll give them that. However, the quality and care given to the garments they clean is subpar. If you have nice clothing that you care about, I would not recommend this service. If you have clothing that you're not attached to and care nothing about, then by all means let PT rough it up. I just had my blue-stripped Boy. by Band of Outsiders dress returned to me faded. This was it's first cleaning and the last time I will ever send a piece of my clothing to PT. read more

I've been using Purple Tie for several months and the service - from dry cleaning to customer service response - has been great. Recently, an article of clothing was misplaced and the team (esp Maria) quickly dispatched personnel to locate the piece and followed up both via phone and email.
