I used Purr Inc a few times for visits with my cat, Josette. Robert was very professional and attentive during the meet and greet. All the sitters who visited sent timely recaps with pictures and details about their visit with my cat. Scheduling through their online website once an existing client was very easy. I had a great experience using Purr Inc, however, I felt their pricing for their visit duration (15, 20, 25 minutes) was a bit high and I also didn't like that they couldn't guarantee visit time (eg. 10am-11am) . They have a route that they follow so it could be anytime within a larger time frame.I also wasn't able to schedule multiple visits per day. I've worked with two other services that allow me to schedule two visits per day (AM and PM) during a specific two hour time frame for the AM and PM visits. As I mentioned I've always been satisfied with the service, but their model and pricing doesn't work for my needs where as other companies do. If these items aren't a big deal for you then I would definitely recommend using Purr Inc. read more

Rob and team are simply THE BEST including for cats with SPECIAL NEEDS. They have been taking care of my cats for years. I have multiple cats, one of them has diabetes and a few other special kitty conditions. He is the sweetest, smartest, cutest boy ever though. Because of his condition, my cats are on a regimented medication and feeding schedule. Rob and team always deliver and put my mind at ease. They send pictures and quick updates. I always have so much anxiety leaving my best buddy behind when I travel. Having Purr Inc as a resource has made me so much more comfortable. I was extremely nervous letting strangers into my home to babysit my 2 fur babies over the thanksgiving week - I searched the internet to find a company, reading reviews, asked for recommendations etc. and was still nervous- I mean these are my babies! But Purr proved that all my reservations were unfounded. They are fantastic. They took care of my babies so well - sending picture updates everyday of the full food bowls, scooped boxes, and my kitties (really adorable photo too). Purr is such an amazing service that I am writing my first Yelp review on them! I used Purr for the first time in October while living in a high rise and leaving on my honeymoon for 2 weeks. Robert came to my apartment and asked all the important questions (things I wouldn't have thought of!) about where the trash is, cleaning supplies, dust pan, any hiding spots my cat may run to, etc. I left instructions with my doorman to let the Purr staff in while I was gone and everything went smoothly. I received emails with my cat and updates about how she was doing. They even show a picture of the clean litter box and do scoop for you! I used Purr for the second time just last week after having moved into a town home. I was a little nervous since this wasn't a doorman building but Robert came back for another visit and saw our home and took careful notes. Everything went smoothly and my cat was so happy with the care from Purr. Her litter was changed and I got pictures of her playing and being brushed. Wonderful service! I recently used Purr Inc. for the first time for a week long vacation. I was impressed by the reviews online and liked that they focus on cats in particular (I love dogs too, but cats are a whole different animal, pun intended). I was so nervous to leave my cat as he is like my child and I'm very anxious by nature, however I immediately felt comfortable with Purr Inc. When I sent an initial inquiry, Robert contacted me immediately to set up a phone call, followed by a video call and introduction where he explained the services asked many questions about Colby and his needs, habits, etc... I could tell right away that he was an expert, took his services very seriously and that he and his team truly cared about cats. Each and every day, I received an email update and photos of Colby, his food, litter and water. Even a neurotic cat mom like me could relax as I knew Colby was safe and well cared for. We used to love Chicago Cat Sitters, in fact, we had been using the service for over a year every time we went on vacation (and really liked Robert as a person), but our last experience was really bad: 1) When we came back, the mail had not been checked, the plants were not watered, and we had a VERY messy litter box 2) We checked our home alarm system to see how long he was there - something did not seem right, and our cat was real moody. Here's what the alarm company told us: visit #1: 3 minutes, visit #2: 5 min, visit #3: 7 minutes. (!!!) 3) We approached Robert asking for a full refund, which he did. He further stated (and I quote): "this is not an excuse for shorter service times and I'm suprised I didn't mention that we usually take care of the basics and do our best to stay and play for as much as possible. Im also not going to say that this time around was conducted on our best days, but I did what I could with what time I had prepared with. I'm sorry that I failed to mention the shorter time periods (which are never that short) but more, I didnt expect one of my employees to fall ill and be gone to even past today, which is just about the last day of the holiday rush (Dec 21-Jan 2). Moreover, at this point in the year, we are forced to be conservative with time so as to minimize the risk of being delayed by possible animal illnesses (taking animals to animal hospitals) or employee problems in which we experienced. If we arent, we risk falling into a position where we can't finish our visits for the day, which would be a disaster, but again its usually longer than minutes if were not in a vulnerable position." I understand his position, crappy stuff happens - BUT - BE HONEST! If someone falls ill and you are swamped, a quick email to us to LET US KNOW about the situation is warranted - especially when we are paying $20 for a 20 minute service. The service is advertised as 20 minutes to visit, play with, and feed the cat, change the litter and water, water the plants, and check the mail. Can someone do all that in 3, 5 and 7 minute visits? If we did not have an alarm system, we would never known that our cat had 15 minutes of services while we were gone, which to me is unacceptable. read more

One of my cats was dead when I came home. DEAD; MY KITTEN WAS DEAD. I opened my front door excited to see my cats again, and I was greeted with one cat yowling and the other lying towards the front door and DEAD. I thought it was odd that I hadn't heard from the catsitter at all, as I've seen most people receive emails, and the only thing I heard was through him calling my boyfriend back about the cats. I didn't have complete reception the entire time, so I understand that, but he still hasn't even bothered to call me about my dead cat. No refund, no call, nothing. This isn't an old cat either, but a 6 month old kitten. He's had his share of problems in the past, as he came from a shelter, but he appeared normal when I left. From what the vet has told me, he probably had an underlying condition that could have resulted in rapid deterioration, so maybe there were no signs until he dropped dead, except that my apartment had various excretions all over, including a pillow so completely soaked with hardened brown liquid and some feces near the rear end of the cat outline that it looked like the cat had died there. Just maybe the cat got up and walked over to the door and expelling liquid in his shape and then died there curiously not leaving anything behind on the spot that I found him in. Maybe my other cat dragged him. Who knows. I talked to the vet about the state that I found him in, and he was already out of rigor mortis, which means he had to have been sitting there for at least three days. I hired Chicago cat sitters to come every other day after I left ending on Thursday, and I was coming home on Sunday. Perhaps my cat just came out of rigor mortis abnormally fast, and he really did seem just fine when the cat sitter saw him, but science tells me that he had to have died on the day that the cat sitter last saw him, or should have seen him. I understand that my kitten likely had a condition that could not be helped and that maybe just wasn't easy to spot outside of his litterbox full of bizarre mucosal diarrhea that obviously hadn't been changed during the week I was gone, but the complete lack of attempts at communication are completely unacceptable and suspicious. What kind of decent human being, let alone cat sitter, doesn't even bother to call to acknowledge that my cat died on their watch? He didn't seem sketchy or questionable in character when I met him, and it looks like he had been feeding my cats and taking out some garbage, but not even bothering to acknowledge that MY KITTEN IS NOW DEAD AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED. What was he even doing during his last week of life? Was he happy and playing until the end or barely able to move and slowing and painfully dying? Did the cat sitter even bother to look at my cats, or did he just throw food in the bowl and leave? I hired this cat sitter because I feel better about a cat sitter with a pre-arranged vet plan just in case anything happened to my cats, as it wouldn't be right to put that on a neighbor or a faraway friend. He could have at least bothered to tell me some nonsense stories about him happily playing and sleeping on Thursday, so that I could have a reason to believe or pretend like he wasn't dead for days and left as a rotting carcass for my other cat, but he has given me absolutely nothing. My non-dead cat has lost some weight, but I think he's been fed. He's been acting odd, but I guess I would too if I had just spent three days with a dead body and near my food bowl at that. If your cat is not inclined to suddenly die of illness, I'm sure this service is fine, and I think I've left enough details to you to figure out for yourself if he is completely innocent or not. However, I would not trust my cat with someone who hasn't even bothered to tell me ANYTHING about my dead kitten, even if he couldn't have done anything about it and is entirely guiltless. I spent the last day staying up all morning to try to bring myself to clean up the mess of brown liquid dried up all over my apartment and get the deceased kitten out of my house and disinfect everything, and it was the worst nightmare I could imagine, as I live alone and had to do all of this on no sleep, as I couldn't very well risk leaving my other cat in it. At the very least, the 24 hour vet was wonderful to me about my deceased cat when I dragged myself in with him at 4 am. I never could have imagined what it would be like to come home and open my door to my kitten's dead body in front of me, and I hope that you don't have to. I just won't ever be going away from home again, as I can't imagine trusting anyone again after this, even if it was entirely a fluke. read more

I have mixed feelings about this service. Really nice and professional appearance, but I question how much time and attention our cat really got. When we got back from a 10 day trip to South America, our cat seemed fine. What made me a little concerned was how her food dish was completely filled, when we have specifically stated numerous times about her feeding amounts (which is a lot less). Made me think someone just showed up a couple times and dumped a ton of food in the bowl. read more

So pleased with this service! My little kitties are my babies and as close to kids as it's going to get for me for awhile. I was in a bit of a panic because I just moved to the city and the person who was going to watch my precious Tia and Lennie bailed about 48 hours before. I needed someone to come on Christmas eve and Christmas day. I started looking at cat nanny services and getting a lot of no were booked for the holiday or just sketchy sounding people calling back. Then there was Robert with Chicago Cat Sitters on the phone. He sounded very warm and was asking all the right questions. He came out the following day to meet with my husband, myself and our children. He was right on time and Lennie seemed to like him! Very professional with all the paper work as well. Didn't seem weirded out by the special requests made by our kitties either like Lennie likes more gravy on his special food then Tia as there treat or that they like the filtered water out of the fridge. When we got back they both seemed happy and not so upset with us that we left like they normally do. The litter box was clean, they had food, water bowl was clean seemed to have fresh water, the keys were left in place like we asked and he also locked up the bedroom window that we left opened because we painted the night before like we asked in a note we left him. Aside from everything being done perfectly VERY VERY reasonably priced. 100 PERCENT with out a doubt if I go out of town again Robert Prouty from Chicago Cat Sitters would be the guy I called. The owner (Robert) is flexible even with a short deadline. I was heading out of town in a few days when I called him. He scheduled an orientation before I left town, and was attentive to details. I have 2 cats and they are like family to me. Robert sent me updates while I was away via email, which calmed any of my fears while away. My girlfriend and I have used Mr. Prouty and his service multiple times over the past year for our kittens, and we've never had a bad experience. Our cats are always happy and healthy when we return, which was not the case with the sitter that we used before Chicago Cat Sitters. Payment is easy, and we're able to leave a key with them, so the effort is very minimal on our end. I like that the confirmations are automated so you feel secure. The one thing I'll say is that contact during your trip is minimal, so if you're looking for total peace of mind while you're gone, you might need to request something special (or look elsewhere). But overall, nothing to complain about here - I plan to keep using them for a long time! read more

It was a Friday night and after procrastinating booking our usual (and very expensive) cat sitters for the upcoming week, I did an internet search and came across Purr Inc. The high rating and reasonable price were very appealing and my husband and I were leaving for vacation in two days, so I sent an inquiry to see if they had any availability. I ended up getting a response right away from Robert saying he had availability for the 4 days we needed that week and I was told I would be given a call the next day to discuss more details. Robert called as promised and got more information about our two cats, our condo, where we kept things, our vet, etc. Before I knew it, I was dropping keys off that afternoon and resting assured that our kitties were in good hands. Not only did we receive daily picture updates and reassurance that the cats were doing well, but they even followed up after we got home just to make sure we were home safe and that everything went smoothly. I contacted purr inc. rather last minute because another pet sitting service canceled on me. Rob and the purr inc team responded very promptly and had availability despite the short notice. The company communicated very reliably and I got the promised daily updates and photos of my cat. The only difficulty I had was picking up my keys afterwards as the location is a little hard to find but everything worked out. I will definitely be using purr inc again if I need a sitter. They were excellent in handling the situation, and put in extra time to make sure our kiddos would be ok. Love the fact that they send photos with every update. My husband and I were very nervous about leaving our kitten, Schrodinger, for 5 days alone while we were on family vacation. Robert came to the rescue, and we could not be happier with the service he provided! He showed up every day, fed Schrodie, changed her water, scooped her litter box, and, most importantly, played with her. He sent us daily updates and photos of Schrodie, which we loved! As busy professionals, we have been requesting services from Mr. Prouty for the last few years. The only time he could not fulfill his promise to visit our guys was during the '2011 blizzard, while he was constantly updating us on his efforts to make it to our building! We had to convince him that it was alright and actually desired to drop that visit! He insisted on refunding us while people were abandoning their cars on LSD. One of our cats requires twice-daily medication and CCS has been very meticulous in not letting him miss a dose. We really feel that Mr. Prouty is almost family now and having the peace of mind during our trips on which we receive email updates and pictures of the cats is really something irreplaceable. The manager was at least polite about it, but there's not much point to a service that won't drive 15 minutes south. I have nothing but positive things to say about Purr. I got the run around for two weeks from another pet sitting agency, and they canceled on me the day before I was set to fly across the country for my wedding. I emailed a few other places frantically, and while they all responded only Rob from Purr was willing to drive and meet me with less than 24 hours notice. He stopped by our place, met the feline and jotted down notes and instructions. He emailed me a picture and update every day. He even alerted me that my alarm panel was low on batteries and offered to replace them. The flat rate is good if you plan to be gone on weekends or holidays when other places charge more, but it is a bit higher than what other places charge for regular visits. I found it to be well worth the price. And once you sign up, everything is automated so next time I'm out of town I can just sign up online. If you're looking for fast, reliable service, I definitely recommend Purr. Our cat was healthy and apparently happy, though typically needy, once we got home from a week and a half trip. read more

When I first called rob stated he comes over to meet the cats and also gets to know where everything is which was a nice added touch for me. I usually take my babies to my moms house on trips and I have been so pleased with them that making that extra trip is no longer needed. At the orientation they asked very thoughtful questions, for example they even made sure they knew where the carriers were in case of an emergency. While I was on my trip, one of my cats was hiding during the visit. They looked everywhere but couldn't find him. So happy I found this company! I was going to Nashville for a friend's bachelorette weekend and didn't have anybody to watch Stanley (my cat), and felt uneasy about boarding him (was afraid he'd be crated/be nervous around other cats). Robert first came over for an orientation and asked very thorough questions, making me feel at ease with leaving Stanley and my apartment keys in his care. When I was away, Robert was easy to contact and I received cute pics everyday from the sitter watching Stan, which was very reassuring! Rob and his associates are Purr Inc. are fabulous! I am a slightly overprotective cat owner and going away is probably harder on me than on my 4 cats. With Purr, I get something you can't put a price on - peace of mind. Knowing that Rob takes the time to come in and not just feed them, but sit and play with them makes me feel so much better while I'm away.
