Let me preface this review by saying that my husband and I are in our late 70's and we both have health issues. Roundhouse Resort is a nice resort but the staff leaves a lot to be desired, they do not care about the guest's welfare at all, just what's best for them! When we arrived, Chuck Goeckeier at the front desk insisted that we were going to have to move to another unit for our second week! When I called the resort 3 times before our scheduled stay to request a ground floor room, I also asked about moving and all I got was the runaround, never a straight answer, now I know why! To be to get two consecutive weeks, we had too book the first week Saturday-Saturday and the second week Friday-Friday. We knew at the time that we would lose a day, which was okay with us, but we didn't realize it was going to cause such a firestorm. As Chuck told us "I absolutely cannot allow Saturday-Saturday people who are in an oversized one bedroom unit to stay in that unit with a Friday-Friday booking", those are smaller one bedroom units! I guess the peons go into the Friday-Friday units! He was adamant about it, my husband and I were not happy. We feel we should've been notified of this by the resort via letter or email at the time of booking. Chuck is the only one doing all the bookings on a DOS operating software system, how antiquated is that, no one else knows how to use it, no staff, not even the General Manager! According to a staff member, this prevents overbooking! If they had an updated software program, overbooking wouldn't be an issue! We pleaded our case with everyone, even the General Manager, Stephanie Barwicki, and everyone said it's Chuck's decision, we have to abide by his rules. He is nothing but a bully to the seniors! So on the Friday of this trip, we had to pack up all our belongings, we had stuff for two weeks time, Including food in the fridge and freezer! I thought one of us was going to have a heart attack, we were so stressed out! We had to make 4 trips with the luggage cart! All we did for two weeks was pack, unpack, pack, unpack, pack and unpack again, great vacation! In 25 years of timesharing, we have never come across anything as crazy as this! What we don't understand is why they didn't put us in Friday-Friday unit in the first place, we would've been fine with it! The unit that we were in for the "privileged" Saturday-Saturday folks was in the lodge and it felt like we were living in a cave! It faced the atrium which is for the use of all the guests, therefore, you cannot open the drapes at all because people were outside your window all the time! These are the "privileged" oversized 1 bedrooms for the Saturday-Saturday folks! Also, while in this room, one morning, while making breakfast, we had the coffee pot on, the toaster on, and the microwave and the breaker blew, we had no power for two hours before someone came to fix it. We had to get dressed for the day in the dark! The remote for the bedroom TV didn't work, and the TV's were constantly going on of saying "no signal", very irritating! The second unit which we moved into on the Friday for the Friday-Friday folks was fine except they had a water problem with the unit upstairs and for 3 days, we heard the workman working on the unit from 5pm-9pm! He made quite a lot of noise banging and moving stuff around, we didn't think it was the appropriate time to be doing major work on the unit! We will not be staying at this resort ever again! We had a problem with Chuck when we stayed at this resort last year. We were guaranteed a ground floor room through our timeshare management company and the the resort, but when we arrived, he said since we were checking in early, only one hour before check in, we had to go to the second floor! He did this with 3 other senior couples that came in after us and also were supposed to have a first floor unit! All this after driving 7 hours to get there! We all helped each other bring all our belongings up to the second floor! Going up and down two flights of stairs for two weeks almost killed us! Proceed with caution! read more
