Buffalo Chicken Pizza on cauliflower crust
John L. H.

I am a fan of fast-fired pizza restaurants. Pyro's is one of those restaurants located down the street from USM's campus. It has been one of my go-to spots when visiting Hattiesburg. Here is how it works: 1. Pick a item from the menu or choose to create your own (I pick buffalo chicken) 2. Pick your crust. I pick cauliflower. There is no nutritional information online but their website does claim it to be low-carb. Due to the consistency, I suspect it is not really low carb but is likely lower than the full flour crust. 3. Choose the standard toppings or add them to your menu item. I always get a ton of jalapenos and add ham. Buffalo chicken with ham is great. 4. Wait at your table for your food. 5. Eat and enjoy. Pro tip - Get some of their store hot sauce and bring it to your table. The ghost pepper version is a great addition to pizza. On all of my visits the store has been clean and the employees friendly. If you find yourself in Hattiesburg and want pizza, Pyro's should be on your list.

Food was great . We ordered a build your own pizza with thin crust . The waiter were friendly & accommodating. They were out of diet soda.

Good pizza for what it is. I found other places with a similar convention to building your own pizzas to have better quality toppings.

Fabulous & fast service, yummy options and clean fun vibe!! Thank you for these weary hungry travelers!

Pyro's Fire Fresh Pizza ("PFFP") is one of the most disgusting restaurants I have ever been to in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I have attached photographs for your review. The photos do not adequately display the full extent of the trash and debris covering the food prep area, dining space, and restrooms. Our pizzas were also absolutely horrible. As a result, I would unequivocally not recommend PFFP!

Ham, pineapple and black olives

So delicious!! We loved the food and the atmosphere was awesome, plus our service was pretty fast and they were so nice about getting us what we needed.

My personally made pizza.

Good service. Pizza was good for a small lunch. Not heavy at all compared to a full size pizza .

I ordered the baked spaghetti, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The kind of dish that makes you pause halfway through the first bite and think, "Yep...this was the perfect choice." It tasted completely house-made, rich, comforting, and clearly prepared with the kind of love that usually comes from a kitchen where someone is yelling in Italian. The sauce, the pasta, the baked goodness on top--everything just worked. The wine list was also a pleasant surprise: great selection and very affordable. Nothing makes pasta happier than a good glass of wine that doesn't make your wallet cry. For dessert I went with the limoncello cake. While it wasn't house-made, it was still delicious--light, citrusy, and the perfect way to finish off a very satisfying meal. Here's the real kicker: the entire meal with wine was about $40 with my drink. In a world where mediocre pasta can somehow cost the same as a cell phone bill, this place delivers incredible value. It's not only the best quality Italian food I've found around here, it's easily one of the best meals I've had for the price. Bottom line: great food, great wine, and a price that doesn't require selling family heirlooms. I'll definitely be back.

Award winning pizza dough.... high quality ingredients, and the portion size of the toppings are perfect. We also tried the Philly cheesesteak sandwich which was beyond good. They use their pizza crust for the bread, baked and folder over almost calzone style. The quality of the shaved sliced prime rib is excellent, the meat was incredibly moist, tender, and the sautéed onions and green peppers complemented by their beer cheese made this culinary surprise a solid 10 out of 10. Great portion, priced just right, arrived to the table piping how..... seriously, order this sandwich!!!! Great small-town atmosphere, and the service is exceptional. We were greeted with a warm welcome, a smile, and that friendliness was also extended by our server who gave excellent service, checked back a few times, refilled drinks, and kept us informed about how long our order would take to arrive at our table. The place is worth the drive from Laurel.... Five stars for sure.... go for the pizza, but also try other items off their surprisingly great menu. They also have nice pasta dishes, several salad choices, and an excellent appetizer menu as well. We had their home made pretzel bites with beer cheese, a 10 out of 10... a must! Lastly, their build your own salad is genius. $11.00 is the price... you pick the type of greens and up to six toppings of an extensive list of choices... great value given the size of he salad and the amount of toppings.....

Since then, we make it a point to stop at Pizza Inn if we pass one while traveling because she loves it so much! I have to say this is one of the better locations we've managed to discover. Upon entering, the woman at the counter greeted us with a friendly smile and said we could seat ourselves. Our waitress was nice and kept us refilled on drinks. She checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed but didn't hover or bother us at all. The buffet is self serve! The food itself wasn't bad either! They restocked the buffet very quickly throughout our visit. The price of the adult buffet was $13.99, which I felt was a little high, but not absolutely terrible for a buffet these days. They had a few different pizzas out that they restocked regularly, and I believe you could make requests for specific pizzas to be made-- we didn't try this but I don't think it costs extra. I really enjoyed the cheesy breadsticks and the pasta was good! I will however mention that everything was very salty, including the dessert pizzas. The entire restaurant was very clean! I was even impressed with the cleanliness of the restrooms. They also had an arcade in a small back room that was pretty fun! The machines are a bit old and warn and one of them ate an extra quarter but the whole family had a fun time playing old-school cabinets. Overall, a pretty good experience! My mom is already looking forward to coming back next year :)

Upon arrival parking was tight and inside was packed, good sign. We were told to give them a minute that they were busy but would accommodate us. We were seated outside after the table was dried off for us. It had been raining earlier. Outside was large and spacey with tables and couch along with tv and some toys for the kids. Service was slow and received numerous apologies along with the excuse they were super busy. They have a good selection of local draft beers. We ordered kids food immediately along with 3 drafts, 2 waters and 2 cokes. Drinks came after a few minutes. Kids food came after probably 20 min or so, kids cheese pizza was piping hot along with kids chicken tenders and fries. Kids cheese pizza was phenomenal. Kids chicken tenders and fries were terrible. Fries were completely over cooked and greasy. Tenders weren't over cooked but greasy and the cheap frozen kind. Service was slow on beer orders and we received the same excuse they were busy. Appeared to only be two middle aged men working. Received a plate of Italian bread and marinara. Both were good, marinara was superb imo. Placed an app order of cheese sticks with our main order and I ordered a house side salad. The cheese sticks and salad came out with the main order. The cheese sticks were substandard and frozen. The house salad dressing was phenomenal and I enjoyed the pecans and roasted peppers. I had the wings, they looked amazing when we first walked in. They were good, not as delicious as I was expecting. The garlic parm was way better than regular buffalo. Parents had a half and half supreme and pepperoni pizza hold onions. The supreme side was lacking peppers. Pepperoni side was good. GF had the Cabrese pizza. It was skimp on chicken but had a decent flavor. Bathroom was small but accommodating considering it's a bar/pizzeria. All in all I gave 3 stars because we were forgot about at times while we were seated outside by ourselves. We had to ask for replacement beers and still were forgotten about. Plus each time we were told the same excuse "we're really busy", but the place cleared out long before we got our food. I will give it another go but will definitely avoid the fried food choices due to poor quality food and stale tasting grease. The outside area for kids was a plus because we all know how toddlers can be.

Pasta cooked perfectly al dente. If you love a saucy pasta this isn't for you. It is nice and creamy but not swimming in it. Big plump shrimp that tasted great. Also has chunks of chicken breast and sliced sausage. Uncle Jim got the red beans and rice. Great flavor but barely warm. The catfish is a thicker cut and battered in a coarsely ground corn meal. Aunt Robin had the shrimp and grits. Those were the star of the show. So creamy and incredible flavor. Very generous amount of nice sized shrimp. Mike had the Keg Stand burger. He requested the sauce on the side. It's definitely a unique flavor. Nice soft bun. The meat was grossly over cooked but would have been tasty had it not been so dry. The onion rings that came with the burger were soggy. Overall, enjoyed it. We know what to get next time. Shrimp and grits and KPauls pasta!!
