The menu at this Pyros is a little bit different from the one by where I live which I found interesting. Candace, the manager, was excellent with customer service and helping out. She was doing a great job of leading her team without micro managing but also targeting her focus where help was needed. We had a plain cheese pizza which was good, a custom topping pizza which was good, and a southwestern chicken salad which was also good!! Ambiance is typical of Pyros, not very loud and it was clean. The whole time we were there an employee was always on the prowl for mess and keeping things tidy, sweeping up, etc. Definitely would return to this Pyros if I'm down this way again. read more

I did not want to go to Pyro's for lunch, but my wife insisted. I'm so glad she did. We are in town doing research at the University of Southern Mississippi so this was our first time at Pyro's. Pyro's is like Subway where you line up and tell them what you want on your pie. Our pizza was ready in, I believe, less than 10 minutes. In one word, the pizza was fantastic! We ordered the thin and crispy crust which was possibly the best crust we have ever had! All of our ingredients were fresh and very tasty! We had done a cheese blend along with their standard sauce. There were plenty of toppings to choose from. The Italian sausage was perfectly spiced. Being a pizzaholic and a former pizza restaurant manager, I've eaten more pizza than I care to believe. Pyro's product is one of the best pies I've ever had! Oh, also, the employees were all very friendly. Service was impressive. I am a fan of fast-fired pizza restaurants. Pyro's is one of those restaurants located down the street from USM's campus. It has been one of my go-to spots when visiting Hattiesburg. Here is how it works: 1. Pick a item from the menu or choose to create your own (I pick buffalo chicken) 2. Pick your crust. I pick cauliflower. There is no nutritional information online but their website does claim it to be low-carb. Due to the consistency, I suspect it is not really low carb but is likely lower than the full flour crust. 3. Choose the standard toppings or add them to your menu item. I always get a ton of jalapenos and add ham. Buffalo chicken with ham is great. 4. Wait at your table for your food. 5. Eat and enjoy. Pro tip - Get some of their store hot sauce and bring it to your table. The ghost pepper version is a great addition to pizza. On all of my visits the store has been clean and the employees friendly. If you find yourself in Hattiesburg and want pizza, Pyro's should be on your list. read more

Our family has LOVED Pyros since the day it opened. Within the last year, I started a job close to pyros, so it has been a lunch spot. Me and my co-worker didn't think we went that often maybe two a month, but the manager Preston recognizes us and knows us by name. He is such a great person and manager. He always makes sure we are well taken care of as well as the restaurant. There's been many days they have been slammed at lunch, but Preston is doing it all! He will be checking people out, taking the pizzas out of the oven, cutting, plating, and running the food the customers and if he gets time in between he steps right in to clean tables, swipe the floor, anything that needs to be done. NOPE. If you're looking for vegan pizza, this is not the place. Went on their website to order a pizza with vegan cheese. Was forced to use a third-party site to place order. When I went to pick it up, the woman said "we're out of vegan cheese" and when I asked for a refund, she said I had to go thru that 3rd party site and she couldn't help me in any way. They'd made the pizza without the cheese so it was a piece of gross thin -- VERY THIN and dry -- crust with a tiny bit of sauce and a bunch of burned vegetables. If you don't have vegan cheese, then take it off the website menu. And if that's too complicated, contact the person who ordered it to let them know so they can cancel the order. Hattiesburg is not a vegan-friendly town at all, so I thought I'd found a real treat at Pyro's, but, no. I'm guessing if you're in Hattiesburg and you're reading this, you probably don't care about vegan food. But for the few vegans who visit this town, this review is for you. read more

Traveling from between states and we decided to stop at pyros for dinner tonight. Our friends across from us order at most two minutes before us. They received their food and we just thought they were taking a second, but then a big party of 10 people come in and receive their food before ours!?! We then had to walk up to the front to ask where our food was. It took a total of 45 minutes until they gave us a Togo salad, we are sitting at a table... we then canceled our calzone and she tries to give it us after we already asked for it to be canceled, trying to avoid giving us a refund. Horrible customer service, and horrible attitude from the lady doing homework at the countertop. Not one sorry for their mistakes. read more

This was a terrible experience. I saw amazing reviews and decided go give it a try. I called in an order and asked for large, they said their large could feed a family of four. I asked the time and they said it would be 20-25 minutes because they were busy. I went to pick it up and they said they still had to make it. I had to wait in line and the girl making pizzas spent 20 minutes ignoring the long line and just focused on the online orders. I don't blame her because of the six people behind the counter she was the only one working. I ended up ordering another pizza because I saw that they were tiny. I had to pay separately because they don't allow you to add to any call-in orders. My first "large" pizza was finally ready and it was barely big enough to feed my eight year old. By that point it was over an hour since I called in and roughly 45 minutes after my pizza was supposed to be ready. What's worse is that it didn't even taste good! It's like they didn't even add any effort into it. Luckily Little Caesars was open down the road and I could get a pizza in three minutes. I'm glad I could because my kids were hungry. read more

I also got the Italian salad, which had lots of toppings but I was a little put off by the shredded lettuce (which contained too much of the lettuce core for my tastes). Wow this place was a pleasant surprise. I've driven by it a few times and it's in the new Hattiesburg Mid-town plaza. It looked super-fancy but once getting in the prices were amazing. Personal sized pizza for $9 on artesian thin-crust which was made perfectly with whatever toppings you want at no-extra charge. It was my first time and the staff was really helpful and polite. Saturday night dinner was happening and they have great local craft beers on tap. I got a thin-crust with tomato sauce, mozzarella, banana peppers, pepperoni, sun-dried tomato, green olives and fresh mozzarella. I had a wonderful experience here, great date night place for the personalized pizzas and scenic atmosphere. The design of the restaurant is an urban feel with exposed lights and ceiling, but is complimented by modern artistic furniture/decor. The pizza was very good for a personal thin-crust pizza, 6 slices and perfectly cooked in the oven. I enjoyed each bite while I myself got a little messy due to my choice of toppings. The orders were effectively communicated and processed. The entire time I was there I did not see any customer complain about something going wrong with their order. If you're concerned about the $9/10 price per meal understand you aren't paying just for food, you're paying for the experience they provide and the open brick-oven cooked pizza. They also have many people on staff at once, 9 from what I counted. They all appear well trained and prepared for each order and situation, so I myself was not complaining about the price of my order. Mighty happy to see our favorite pizza chain make its way beyond the Memphis area. Delicious gluten free crust for my wife with pepperoni, artichoke hearts, and spinach, while I had a regular crust with pesto, grilled chicken, spinach, and banana peppers. Only one turn off: we are accustomed to having to purchase wine or beer at a separate station, but on this occasion the server poured literally just a tiny bit too much wine into a wine, so he then took the glass back and poured some back into the bottle. I get that they are trained not to overpour, but this amount was minimal and returning the perceived extra to the bottle was completely unnecessary and unappealing. My experience wasn't as good. Personally, I don't see myself paying almost 10 dollars for a small 4 sliced pizza but on the day I went it was insanely packed and the pizza was 5 dollars for some reason it was unexpected but hey wasn't bad. The process going through the line is very simple they ask you what you want kind of like a chipotle / subway style of ordering plenty of toppings and you can customize any of the originals how you want it. Got into the metal burning oven not sure if it's wood fired or not but it's very open. Some pizzas I saw were coming out burnt not sure if the guy could handle that many small pizzas in the oven. So we sit down and wait for our pizza I order at 9:15 see the pizza go into the oven and I'm like oh it's going to be quick. Well I was wrong lol as said before we sit and I tell my gf it shouldn't take that long due to the size and the toppings you have maximum 5 Minutes cause I can cook a pizza like that at home fresh 5-10 Minutes for sure. Time rolls around 9:45 the manager ask us what was our pizza but mind you we have a table tracker and that seemed odd to me and my gf says oh there goes pizza coming out now. Pyro's does a great job on their pies considering it's a "fast food" style shop. They have a great topping selection, good sauce, and the hand tossed dough isn't too thick. My only real complaint is there is a fine line between cooked just right and undercooked. Sometimes I'll get a floppy pie, but most of the time it's nice and crispy. read more
