The food is amazing prepared, the service makes you feel like family, and the place is so clean, that you can her own mother rushing you to clean the house before company gets there. I ordered the baked spaghetti, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The kind of dish that makes you pause halfway through the first bite and think, "Yep...this was the perfect choice." It tasted completely house-made, rich, comforting, and clearly prepared with the kind of love that usually comes from a kitchen where someone is yelling in Italian. The sauce, the pasta, the baked goodness on top--everything just worked. The wine list was also a pleasant surprise: great selection and very affordable. Nothing makes pasta happier than a good glass of wine that doesn't make your wallet cry. For dessert I went with the limoncello cake. While it wasn't house-made, it was still delicious--light, citrusy, and the perfect way to finish off a very satisfying meal. Here's the real kicker: the entire meal with wine was about $40 with my drink. In a world where mediocre pasta can somehow cost the same as a cell phone bill, this place delivers incredible value. Our waitress never introduced herself, we saw her only for drink and food orders and the check. Never once did she check on us after delivering our meals and when we were ready for the check we had to get her attention. The food was amazing. My kids could not stop ranting and raving about it and even made sure to call out to the kitchen staff to let them know how good it was. I am unsure of it she was just having a bad day or what but she had no smile on her face nor pleasant disposition that would make me want to return to the establishment if it had been my first visit. It was my daughter's 16th birthday, and she wanted Italian. We chose Trattoria in downtown hattiesburg. We have been here before and the food was good, so we decided to revisit. We were extremely disappointed. Our server brought us our drinks. Then we did not see her until 10 minutes later. She took our food order and disappeared again. When my daughter's food came out, my husband's and mine food did not. The waitress came back 20 minutes later to say the kitchen was still working on our pizza. We were very frustrated with the situation and lack of communication, so we asked to speak to the manager. The waitress vanished only to reappear 10 minutes later to say the manager was in his office. We told her that since we still did not have our pizza, we no longer wanted it. We just wanted to pay for the spaghetti and drink then leave. We were told the manager would have to take the pizza off the bill. Well I guess our waitress was finally able to talk to the manager because she gave us our bill minus the missing pizza cost. Then she writes sorry with a smiley face on our receipt. We went last night for the first time and were pretty sure we found the best tasting pizza in Hattiesburg. The sauce and cheese went well together- most places have either really good sauce but fake tasting cheese or real cheese with a bitter sauce. The downside to our visit was the service. Upon walking in, we weren't sure whether to wait to be seated or sit ourselves somewhere as there wasn't anyone at the host stand and servers were in the back somewhere (no sign displayed either telling us what to do).
