I know my 2 star rating is daunting but there is a legitimate reason for it. This morning, I decided to go out of my way to get breakfast from Topher's. It is over 3 miles from my home and out of the way. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and the person at the drive-thru asked if I wanted it on toast and I replied. "Yes," confirming I wanted the toaster sandwich. I have not had great experiences with their biscuits so my order was very intentional. When I made it to the window, my order was repeated and the receipt on the bag read the same. I drove 3.3 miles home with my tastebuds excited to enjoy one of my favorite breakfast items. Unfortunately, I had received a BEC BISCUIT! To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I toasted my own bread and transferred the eggs and bacon, which were absolutely delicious! The first time I ordered from here I was in love with the orange juice.. so the second time I ordered it again to-go and I got a large this time. I get home and notice it was filled with ICE. I walked in and walked out, the worker behind the counter was glaring the moment I walked in, I asked where their menu was she pointed rudely at the counter where there was a laminated menu and did not say anything to us, did not greet us just pointed at the menu and glared. All she had to say was no I'm sorry we don't but heres a menu rudely pointing at the menu and looking at your customers like they are impositions is not winning anyone over and the crazy thing is, is that the other tophers food is amazing and the service is great. I didn't eat here because like I said I walked in and out after that interaction they were laughing at our backs as we left too (owners watch the video this happened 3.15.26 @ around 230 to 4 o'clock give or take a few minutes You'll see a couple walk in, walk to the counter and walk out that would be us. after reading several reviews it looks like other people won't be going to the other ones either. 30 bucks lost might not seem like much in the long run but one customer turns to two and so on and so forth and 30 dollars lost can suddenly turn to thousands if they chase off more people you might want to get a handle on your workers. it asks for ambiance but it was bad no one wants to be glared at while ordering and eating. I won't be going back went to city buffet instead where we wouldn't be glared at for existing and giving our money to someone who actually wants our money. If the owners truly cared they'd clean house. This is not just an issue of the cashier its a management issue if they felt this emboldened to act this way. My mother was a manager at krystals, wards, and burger king over twenty years, she fired people for things like this and worked their shifts. Considered fast food, Yelp should put it in a new category called gourmet fast food. I was very surprised the quality of food this local MS chain cooked up. For the price, its a great value. I had the Bacon Bleu Burger and onion rings. The sour dough buns are a great touch! Next time I want to try the Aleppo Cheddar bun. Onion rings were just right, big and non-greasy. This place used to be *excellent*. A couple of years ago. I used to visit on Wednesdays to get the "Special" which was the Pepper-jack Burger, Handcut Fries, and a Drink for $5.99 plus tax. I also would buy the burger at its regular price on other days, since it was so good it was worth the money. But last week, I revisited them after a lengthy period away, and found that not only had their prices increased significantly, but the quality of my favorite Pepper-jack Burger had gone down as well. I used to get a huge burger, moist, with plenty of fixins including lots of Getback sauce and the Onion Rings on top, covered by an ample bun. But on THIS trip, I got a burger that was barely taller than what you could get at Hardees for half the price, the meat was dried out, the bun looked like it had shrunk by a third, there was hardly any sauce, and only one skinny onion ring inside the burger. I immediately wished I had gone elsewhere. Not to mention, this Pepper-jack burger and an order of Fries only got me back about 30 cents from the ten-dollar bill I gave them. Was I overcharged? I'll never know, because when I asked them for a receipt, the woman at the window gave me a puzzled look, and handed me a piece of paper that only had the Topher's name on it and the time of my visit -- no prices, nor total, at all. Every time I pass through Hattiesburg I have not been disappointed by this place. The employees are ALWAYS nice and willing to suggest things for you maybe things you have not tried before. The place is clean from the door to the bathroom. They deliver your food to your table and come around to ask if everything is ok unlike your other fast food places. They also served made to order beignets and milk shakes. A place the kids will love. A bit loud in there if you don't mind playing great music, a place to just enjoy and hang out. Great restaurant. I have tried, so far, the Peanut Butter Burger, PepperJack Burger, and the Bacon Cheese Burger. They were all WONDERFUL. You'd think the Peanut Butter Burger would be so nasty but it was actually REALLY good. It has a light peanut taste (though i wouldnt get the jelly on it i think it would be too sweet for the burger). Their onion rings, fried dill pickles, and sweet potato fries are also very good. Prices are good for the food you get. For two people it cost roughly around $16. Their burgers are HUGE i can really only eat about half a burger at a time! Their staff is the most friendly i have came across in Hattiesburg or surrounding areas. They always bring your food out to you. (We ordered shakes after we got done eating and sat back down to wait on them and she brought them to us even though they were to-go and even got us new straws for them).
