My father and I visited Q-BBQ a couple of weeks ago for lunch. Even on a Tuesday around noon, parking in La Grange can be a challenge. I got lucky and found the last space in the small adjacent lot shared with the hardware store. Downtown La Grange is crazy-busy no matter when, and you can forget street parking. My father uses a walker, and the restaurant was very accessible for him, which I appreciated. We thought about sitting outside, but it's not all that appealing as you basically are out on the sidewalk looking over parked cars and traffic. After we found a table inside the rustic-appointed space, I got into the short ordering line and chose the Papa Q Platter because I wanted us to be able to try a little of everything. Neither of us eats very much anymore, and the platter was more than generous. We brought home well over half of it. The pulled chicken and brisket were okay, as was the mac and cheese. The smoked turkey, baked beans, and pulled pork were all on point. The burnt ends were great, but the ribs were easily the highlight. They appeared to be back ribs, but they were meaty, smoky, tender without being mushy, and had an excellent bark. The sauces were fine, although I would have liked a sharper Eastern Carolina-style vinegar sauce, or something really hot and spicy. Overall, there were a few average items, but the better meat--especially those ribs--made it a very enjoyable lunch. read more

Well Yelpers the Mrs & I tried this place out after a little shopping close to the area. They have a small parking lot for patrons which was a plus. You could smell the smoke outside another plus. Decent size on the inside with some outside seating as well. You can see them preparing your food from the kitchen. The service was very good. Abby took our order and she was very patient and helpful. They have complimentary pickles to go with your order if you like. We ordered beef brisket sliders, sliced turkey sliders, 1/2 lb. Of brisket burnt ends and 1/2 lb their signature brussel sprouts. All that cost roughly $53.50 without tip. First the brisket burnt ends. They were tender and Smokey I just wished they had some type of bark on them. All in all they were tasty. I'll give them a 6.8/10. The brisket sliders were also tender & a nice smoke flavor to them but they didn't have any bark on them as well. The buns were soft and buttery which helped. 7/10. They came without sauce which I liked they have 3 sauces on the table for you to choose from. Sweet, spicy and a vinegar based sauce. The sweet sauce and the sauce were average 5/10 the vinegar based I didn't care for at all 0/10 for me. The turkey sliders were decent. Very nice smoke on them and very tender. And they weren't dried out. The same soft buttery buns 6.5/10 Now those signature Brussel Sprouts was hitting hard! They had a nice char on them very flavorful and just a faint hint of sweetness. They were star of the meal! 8.8/10! We got fries with the sliders...... 7.8/10! Q BBQ was decent nothing special but they were good. I'm willing to give them another chance. Extremely disappointed in my order. I need to remember to physically check every item before leaving. BBQ sauces were not what was requested. This is disappointing as this is the one time I didn't take any extras. Mashed potatoes and gravy - Why offer The option of extra gravy / gravy on the side? I think there was a 1/2 tablespoon in total of gravy. This has happened before. I asked your employee if there was extra gravy in the side and he smiled and said there was. The sliced brisket was all fat. This was extremely disappointing ~ I paid for a 1/2 pound of fat. Is this normal? I regret not taking a picture. I understand there could be some fat but this was a joke. Your sausage links have dramatically shrunk in size, to I just happened to receive a very small piece. We stopped by Q-BBq while in the La Grange neighborhood during the summer, and the outdoor seating was definitely a plus. But the food.....just didn't do it for me. I tried the Mac Q-Roni and it was a little odd for my taste buds. Not bad, just not something I would order again. The signature sauces were good, but overall I've had better BBQ elsewhere. We went with family ranging from adults to teenagers to toddlers and honestly, no one at the table seemed overly impressed. Great location and atmosphere, but the food left me a little underwhelmed. Very nice BBQ restaurant located on the West side of LaGrange Road, in the lovely downtown LaGrange area. 2 nice size patios, one on Lagrange road and one on the North side of the restaurant. Very nice , large, sleek and clean dining area. Child friendly with both booster seats and high chairs. Offering Coke Products at the fountain , or Tea, sweet or unsweetened. The burnt ends were very delicious. Tangy with a little kick, nice bbq for sure. I do think they need to do a better job with service, to ask customers "would you like bread with that". As I couldn't read the menu fast enough and was trying to create a "meal" off the à la carte menu. As I couldn't find "meal" options on the display menu. I think there should be some verbal communication with customers for "add ons". I expected some type of bread option, as it generally accompanies BBQ. We have been coming to this location since they first opened. We drive here from Orlando Park and when they did a couple of pop ups at Willis Tower I was there. We haven't been there for over a year due to life stepping in the way. Tonight we drove there for dinner. I found that the menu has really changed. I ordered the burnt ends with a side of Brussels sprouts and a corn bread side. My wife just wanted one chicken slider and a side of Mac and cheese with no crumbs on top. BUT you can't order just one only three. So, I said okay three sliders with Mac and cheese no crumbs on top. I ordered one drink. Now for the food. Before the food came I went and got my one tea sweet. As I filled my glass it had no color and tasted like sugar water with no semblance of tea. When the food arrived my wife's order arrived with French fries. The Mac and cheese came WITH crumbs on top. I had asked for warm sauce on the her sandwiches and it was like asking for the Crown Jewels. They replaced the Mac and cheese. My order came correct but quality of the food was lower in quality. The burnt ends used to look like nice pieces of ends this looked like shredded pieces of fatty meat. The brussel sprouts were so so, while the corn bread was old and stale. The workers it seemed were waiting for time to end. No offer to come and take your tray as they were too busy talking to each other. Then while we were sitting there eating our food a kid came over and started spraying glass cleaner on the door to clean the glass. Let's just say we got up and left after I clean the table off. I love the food here, but the portions in the Papa-Q platter have gotten noticeably smaller. I've been ordering the same thing since 2016ish and it's been fairly consistent until today. In the past, the Papa-Q platter had enough food to feed my wife and myself for two days. Today, there was much less of everything and there will be no leftovers. You should've kept the portion sizes the same and raised the price. People will feel conned. read more

I wanna start off by saying I do come here pretty often almost every weekend. The western salad is one of my go to. I also love the chicken wings. Memphis style. The service is usually really good. And the vibe is usually very nice some days better than others. Decided to check this place out after discovering it on yelp and so happy I did! My boyfriend and I split the lil q platter with 2 sides. And for 19.99 plus tax what a great price!! With the platter were able to try 4 meats plus ribs. Decent amount of each meat as well. My favorite was the smoked turkey. The ribs were great as well. I got the sweet sauce on the side and only really ate it with the pulled pork. As far as sides, there were so many choices! We went with the mashed potatoes with brisket gravy (yum!) And the Mexican street corn (which I thought was ok and my boyfriend really didn't like). However, both were nice large portion sizes. They have a larger size portion for the platter, but it was nice for 2 people to try a little bit of everything at a reasonable price. I contacted Qs for a catering order 1 week in advance and was told to wait to place my delivery order online 48 hours before the event because if they didn't have a delivery driver the online system would point me to other delivery options. I questioned that plan because I didn't want any problems with the order so close to the party and was assured it was not t problem. Q-BBQ is a good spot for some good bbq. We've tried several items off the menu. The meat is tender and not dry and the bbq sauce is also good. The sides pair well with the bbq. They surprisingly also have really good salads. I like to get the chopped salad with bbq meat on top. Service is good. Food comes out quickly. We had a good family dinner at Q. We ordered the Papa Q platter which turned out to be perfect for our family of four (kids ages 10 & 12). The Papa Q platter had some of each type of meat available, plus four sides. The kids loved the Mac and cheese. We also had coleslaw and mashed potatoes. They were good, not outstanding. The meats were all very good, good smoke flavor, not too dry. The chicken wings were over done unfortunately. The hush puppies were really yummy and crunchy. We would have liked a few more sauce flavors to choose from but overall we enjoyed it and would be back. These people do not mess around, as we had some pickup that was disappointing. I went for pickup and was 5 minutes early and brought my cooler to hold foods and heat better. We live about 1.5 miles from Q's BBQ and all the food was cold and not up to their standards. I have received a phone call from the managers and fixed the troubles, we are going to take our friends for another attempt, but this eating in restaurant. We have eaten here so many times and is a favorite of our niece and her husband too. I travel many times a year and go down south and the food at Q' is better than an area place, Gibson's BBQ, that has many awards to their name. The food at Q' is better than theirs. We placed a large delivery order for my husband's 75th birthday 6-27-24. The ribs looked and tasted like they were extremely dry and a good day old, the chicken was dry, the burnt ends were dry. For the pickles, we received 6 slices in 2 tiny containers. The Mac and cheese was dry and no taste. The last time we placed a very large order, the food was also dry but thought we'd give it another chance. We know how the meat should have tasted and served because my husband has won awards at BBQ competitions. I think a manager should check the food before it goes out the food. We tried Q-BBQ for the first time last night. We ordered the Papa Q platter to go, which was a large amount of food for a reasonable price. However, the one word I would use to describe the BBQ here is DRY. The wings, ribs and brisket were all bone dry. The overall flavor was good, but there was a serious lack of moisture for all of these meats. Surprisingly, I found the smoked meats (pulled pork, pulled chicken and turkey breast) substantially more moist. The hot link was also quite tasty. As for the sides they were mainly quite good. We had coleslaw (bad -- flavorless and sorely lacking seasoning), hush puppies (very good - probably the best side), BBQ baked beans (also good), and cornbread (good). Sauces were good as well. Overall this could have been much better had many of the meats not been so dry. I might give this place another try in the future but looking at the reviews from other customers it looks like 'dry' is a common complaint. read more

What a great BBQ restaurant. My brother took me hear for lunch. You order your food at the counter. I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich. Every order comes with hush puppies and then I ordered the plain Brussels sprouts (which cost a little extra). I also ordered a Blue Moon in a bottle. They give you a number and then bring the food to you when ready. The food is excellent. The brisket was cooked perfectly and the portion is generous. They have a choice of three sauces you can add at the table, I added the sweet sauce that was a perfect complement. I also loved the hush puppies (which are little corn fritters). They were fried perfectly and such a nice change from the fries you get at most places. I was probably most pleased and surprised with the Brussels Sprouts. They kind of char them, but they are so delicious, a real delight. The place is very clean and then I really loved the fact that they had a hand-washing station near the counter. The one young man had a disability but did not deserve to be spoken to and demeaned in front of other employees and customers. How shameful that this happening. Ok 467 reviews and 4 stars, I'm down because I'm a bbq hound. I was in the area so I decided to get a late lunch bbq and dam this was the supper trendy downtown looking area with all parking taken but they have a big lot for parking, it's comunitty parking and smashed full. I found one spot a block away and walked over, I could see and smell smoke from the back of the building so it's full slab time when smoke is detected. Because of the no parking I thought that they were packed so I called in take out, NOPE plenty of tables open so I fuck#d up. The place is typical today's bbq with wood, chalk board menu and rich color on the walls. I would get the full slab with hush puppies that comes with two sides, Mac and mash/gravy. The ribs smelled wonderful by the way. Let's start with the sides, the hush puppies x 2 was a total tease because they were sweet/tasty with a little crisp left in the golden shell and whole corn kernels in them, dam I like them. The mash with brisket gravy was baby reds skin in and very tasty, nicely done. The Mac Q Roni looked boss with perfect cooked noodles but light on flavor, an aged cheese would have added what was missing flavor wise. The ribs are up now, dam they look meaty with a nice bark but sauced, you don't get the sauce on the side so I hope it's ok. The sauce was sweet on the safe side so it's ok. The ribs were meaty/tasty with a sweet smoke flavor but the bark seem to add anything major beside looks to the ribs. They were fall off the bone tender/moist, not my little chew that I like but not the dry/hard crap some places serve. All in all the ribs were not the best that I have had or my most favorite but they were pretty dam good, remember bbq comes in all ways/styles/tastes so be objective when it comes to bbq because it's better than average. My final thoughts is that this is some good bbq quality wise and I thought the sides were better than average so I would have no problem eating here again, Yah I'm a fan. read more

Best BBQ in Chicago, new smaller COVID portions are sad. Really. My family and I really love Q-BBQ. We ordered from here a few times during quarantine but now that they have dine in, they kept the smaller portions served for take out. This is ridiculous. Especially for old customers like myself. This is the 3rd time here and each time has gotten progressively worse. Nothing has been as noticeable as today though. My wife and I each got the Papa Q platter to see what it is this place will be great at and what we should order as a "go to." The ribs were so dry they looked reheated and over done from the night before. The brisket was more like a dry roast and didn't pull apart. All the pulled meats were horribly dry and almost caused me to choke I had to swallow so hard and drink liquid to push it down. Burnt ends were mushy outside and a dry almost impossible to swallow inside. Not soft...mushy. My wings were raw on the Memphis and the spicy wings were so burnt and black. The spicy sausage was so old and dry. There was no fat present in the sausage and it was discolored and old. The signs say "as seen on tv" and maybe at one time this place may have been great but our experience with the cooks, food, and help has been terrible. The only thing that made this place less aggravating was a young man named Jason who works here. He's a very kind and pleasant worker who walks around making sure everyone is attended to. He seems socially challenged and goes out of his way to make sure everyone is happy. That's a major saving grace and a reason we didn't just up and leave.
