Pedicures generally last longer so Q Nails is a great option since it's still quite cheap They're also decent at eyebrow waxing, only paid $12 which is a steal. If I need something more reliable then I would go with Honey or a nicer spot in Manhattan. read more

Been coming here consistently for the last 6 months because it's the most convenient since I live by the waterfront. The aunties at the store have been very accommodating whenever I have concerns about the shape or look of the nails. I appreciate their patience whenever I'm there. This has been my go to nail salon since the day I moved to LIC. All the ladies there are nice and professional. I'm easy going with the style and always pretty happy with all the gel manicures I got done here. Although some customers can be very specific about they what they want but I think this place deserves more than a 5 star review. I am a nurse, so my hands get washed and purell'd a lot. A gel manicure should last for 2 weeks without chipping or annoyingly peeling back from the nail. There are a couple nail technicians here who really strive to give you that, and that's why I keep coming back to my specific nail tech. If she's busy, I'll come back another day. It's my first time here and honestly I had a good experience. I was seated right away and worked on immediately. Everyone was very friendly and professional. The lady who did my nails (she had glasses) was very careful and articulate. She made sure every cuticle was taken off and everything was smooth. This is my first time reviewing a manicure because I want to make sure others in LIC residents and others don't waste their money. I spent over $40 on only the gel manicure that should at least last 10-15 days but it didn't last a week. It's sad that they believe taking people's money for service that is not worth it. I've been patronizing this business since I moved into the neighborhood, in 2021. It was this past Thursday (2/15/24) when I walked in at 6:15pm. I told Amy I needed a mani/pedi (gel). She told me to have a seat and let the new guy do me. She knows me - so I'm not sure why she handed me to him. I sat down, & he proceeded. A Caucasian woman walked in about ten minutes later & started asking Amy should she leave, since I'm in the chair. IDK what that was about, but it was nine o'clock when the new guy finished my pedicure & my toes were not filed properly. Amy started stating to the white woman (who came after me-once she was done with her pedicure) how tired she was, & that I should come back tomorrow to get my manicure. I knew it though. I felt it as the time passed. This is black history month & me being African American - I was extremely offended. Esp b/c she chose not to service me-over them. She wouldn't dared let them leave-feeling how I felt, once I left. That's what was offensive. As a loyal customer (number one), and then watching her take every white person who entered the salon after me (number two), REALLY PISSED ME OFF. I will be finding a new nail salon. I had to then ask her to put the foil on my nails (which she did not want to do), with a plastic glove on-and walked in the cold, home. I then didn't have the tool at home-to remove the gel which was lifting from the acetone & it was really making me angry. I couldn't believe they just wasted my evening like that. When businesses show you how they feel about you, BELIEVE THEM! & then proceed accordingly. At this very moment, I still have gel particles on my nails. I'm way disappointed at how she did me. Definitely the best nail salon in Hunterspoint, also reasonably priced for the neighborhood at $33 for manicure and pedicure. They also have a loyalty card so if you go a lot that you can redeem for a free manicure/pedicure. Fair warning, it takes a lot to get there. I go twice a month and have only cashed in one so far. The girls are always very nice and do a good job. It does get busy during peak hours as it's a small salon so if you're going during those times just be prepared for a wait or be okay with coming back. Really it's great, no complaints- I only left off a star because it's not a high end salon like tenoverten but as long as you know what you are walking into it's fantastic! I spent 2 and a half hours here for them to tell me my finger is bent upwards that's why the nail looks this way as if this was my first manicure! I'm beyond upset at how poorly the staff is trained to talk to their customers, extremely unprofessional. They are very clean. The prices are fair considering that they are located in LIC. Sometimes the nail polish doesn't last long. As far as consistency I only go to the same person, because some just do a mediocre job. The only bad experience that I had with them which I had to take a break going to the salon. I have an afro and every-time ago they will ask me if that is my hair. One day the owner put her hands all the way onto my roots to see if it was real. Then she said something in her language to her staff. I was so furious but I didn't say anything, because I knew that it would not end well with her. The technician did a poor job on my french pedicure and I'll need to find another place to get a redo. I selected this place since I was in the area and it closed at 9p. Other places closed earlier. It seem to have ok ventilation since it didn't have the strong smell like other places. The staff are chinese and seem to know some English. The whole process took an hour. I went today t get my nails done I will NEVER go here again.. They looked at me as if I don't belong there my nail technician act is if she didn't want to touch my nails. Great foot massages, poor for nail services. I would show you my gel manicure but this is the 2nd time I went and it came off in 2-6 days. The color selection for powder dip gel is so bad I can't even have that done there. My pedicures are always smudged too. They currently have an infestation problem. Lots of flies and crawly winged bugs on the floor, which one of the employees was stomping over right in front of the clients. When I looked around, there were many bugs crawling right at my feet, which left me feeling itchy and paranoid. I had to leave. I get that these things tend to happen, but the right thing to do is to close the business until extermination has been performed, not leave customers to be surprised by the condition of the place mid-treatment.
