I just moved to Fremont in April, and have been trying different nail salons along the Stevenson/Fremont Blvd area. I found out about the Q-Nails by their flyer I rcv'd in the mail, and went on a gloomy Monday. Unfortunately they're closed Mondays. Boo! BUT! I came back on Tuesday!! Cute clean little corner suite. I was the only one the time I came in, which is a good thing, bc I had my 3yr old son with me. (This is very common for me to bring my son. So I'm always prepared. Snacks, toys, iPad if needed.) With my son with me, I go at certain times where there would be no rush, and other customers so between 10a-12p. The ladies were sooo accommodating, and didn't mind my son being there at all. They turned on the tv for him putting on Thomas the Train, and gave him a madeleine! It was very nice of them!! This is a brand new place (about 2 months), and they currently have a special going on. Get a pedicure and get your manicure for free. So something of that sort. Haha. They did a great job! Totally love it. Will return again, and again for now.. I started to frequent Q-Nails over a year ago--off of the already glowing Yelp Reviews. They made me a regular just after my first visit! They take great care in making sure they provide you with a quality manicure and pedicure (I normally do a gel mani and regular pedi) and have a policy that if the gel mani gets messed up within the first week you have it they will fix it for free. The entire staff is friendly and they have a large selection of colors (gel and regular) to choose from. Pricing is also extremely reasonable (20 for the regular pedicure and 25 for the gel manicure. Often they have even offered me water or coffee when I am there (not many places do that anymore)! Hint: Make an appointment if you want to make sure they can fit you in! I like this place. Mani pedi is $30 which is an okay price for Fremont (for $ nail salons, I consider $25 to be cheap/more reasonable). But, the redeeming thing that makes it worth the extra $5 is that they really take their time, don't make you feel rushed, you get the massage chair, and they give you a pretty good massage for a long time. Make sure you budget enough time though, because it takes a while to finish. The ladies there are friendly, their work is meticulous, and they do a pretty thorough job. The color selection is also good enough for me. I would definitely come back to this place again. Some side notes: they wanted to charge me $10 total for taking off my gel nail polish on my hands and feet, since I got the gel from another salon and I'm only getting a regular mani pedi from them. I talked them down to just $5 extra. The salon is on the back side of the street/plaza. It's got a nice view looking out when you're sitting in the spa chair. There's a sports bar next to it though (called Coach's), and you see some loud, trashy people coming in and outta there sometimes ;) A lot of fellow Yelper recommended booking an appointment in advance, so I did, but I didn't see any need to. I came here on a Saturday afternoon around 3, and the entire time I was there (3-5pm), I only saw 2 other ladies come in. And when I called to make an appointment that afternoon around 1pm, they had ample time slots to choose from (1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3), so it seems like their schedule is wide open. But they only have 2 workers (and one lady who just seems like the manager/cashier/receptionist), so maybe that's why it's not always so easy to do a walk in. read more

I went here for the first time on a Friday around 1:30 pm. It's a small but clean, bright, no-frills nail salon. I was really impressed considering how reasonable the place is! My friend from the East Coast came to visit for a couple of days so we decided to treat ourselves to some basic manicures. Somehow getting your nails done can help make you seem more put together than a visit to the therapist will. Normally I would be skeptical about pretty much any nail salon that does manicures under ~20$ but this place outdid any I have been to in the past in terms of price, efficiency and quality of the end result. My manicurist was quiet but kind and all the ladies were extremely nice. The atmosphere was homey and happy unlike other salons I have been to that are tense and where everyone seems rushed. My friend was impressed with the sheer amount of color options. They have just about any color you could want from OPI and Essie. My manicure took much shorter than my friends, probably because her nails needed some more work than mine but I was pleased with everything from the massage to the color of the polish and its durability. My manicurist was efficient, skilled and paid close attention to detail which really show, I don't think my nails have ever looked this great! 2 stars because they had really good customer service. I showed up @45 minutes (no traffic!) and they accommodated me BUT I didn't like the way my feet looked once I stepped out of the shop. They actually looked drier & rougher than when I walked in. I put more lotion on them when I got into the car. I got a clear coat manicure but it stated to peel the next day and a couple of my nails were visibly crooked. My pedicure only lasted one week. Normally my color will grow out, not chip.off. Pros. Smells very nice compared to most nail shops. Very airy and smells much of peppermint and lavender. Nice soft mystic to relax to. They give you a wheel of door to choose from. And the manicurist are not noisy and loud like other shops. Cons. Location, it's across from a bar. A bum even asked me if I had spare change . Parking isn't that great. They didn't remove the callus instead just buffed them for a few seconds. The cracks were hardly scraped and I can see them back in 3 days. This place is awesome! It's my second visit and I am just as happy with the service as I was my first time. From the moment I opened the door, the store had a very clean and minty smell, and I was greeted with a welcome from everyone. The store front is nice and very clean. The employees wash down and scrub the pedicure stations immediately after use. The woman who attended to me was again Mary. She doesn't converse much but she has a very friendly smile. Brought my mother (visiting from FL) for pedicures; mani for me & acrylic fill for her. The great reviews seem to be describing another salon! The place is small, minimal decor & in a difficult parking location. We were both unhappy with our pedicures. Chairs were broken & didn't massage; my mom's tech was rough & made her bleed (twice!!); my tech was painfully slow; massages lacked effort; and final products were OK. I do my own better. We were so put off that we cancelled our mani & fill service. I would NOT recommend this place! I honestly don't think I'd go back even if services were free. read more

My daughter and I called ahead and made same-day appointments each for a mani-pedi. My daughter is 5. She was done in maybe 30 minutes. I was done a little after an hour. The techs seemed a bit disorganized and rushed. As it turned out, the salon had booked appointments for a party of 4 and seemingly forgot. Two were accommodated immediately, then after some time, the third, then the fourth person was sat in the chair I was in. I didn't have anything spectacular done to my nails, no designs, no jewels, nothing extravagant, pretty standard gel polish. A few hours later I notice one of my hands looked pretty and glossy, and the other looked flat and neglected. In their rush to get me out, they completely missed putting on the top coat for an entire hand. I tried to call and let them know because I was going to want to get it fixed, but they were closed. I couldn't call at all the next day either, because again, they were closed. I found this salon by using yelp. I'm not sure if they just had a bad day, it happens to the best of us, but as a first time customer, my first impression was awful. When I finally was able to go back in, the tech was apologetic and corrected the mistake, but it was rather inconvenient to have to wait two days for said correction and to have to go back in at all. I'm not here to speculate whether or not the service is typically poor, I'm just here to provide my honest account of what happened during my visit. I do NOT recommend this salon. Shellac mani for $27. Kelly and helen did my nails. They were careful not to cut my cuticles as I told them no blood since I've diabetes and its hard to stop the blood. Hidden little nail shop & I wish I found them sooner! I had no appointment and walked in on a Saturday morning and had to wait about 10 mins to be helped. In the mean time they gave me all of the color swatches to choose from and it kept me occupied. The shop is very clean, nice and quiet. Its unlike the other nail shops in the area where the ladies working there are really loud and chatty and shouting across the room at each other (which I can't stand). Although, they could of used some light background music. I was helped by Helen and Tina. Helen was a sweet, quiet lady and she did s great job on my pedicure. (20 bucks). They also don't make your nails too thick as other shops I've tried in the past. I didn't have issues scheduling, but do recommend you call first as they have their peak times. Prices are reasonable too. They only accept cash tips. I think you can use a credit card for the service, but make sure to keep a few extra bucks in your wallet to tip. This is a perfect, comfortable local nail salon. They put the extra touch on their services, and really made me feel welcome. Hot towel wrap after my warm peppermint lotion leg massage? Yes please! A shellac mani and a killer pedi for $50? All the yes! It was a delight to have these ladies as my nail techs. Sometimes I forget how great it is for people who have been doing nails for years to do my mani/pedi... this is a field where experience matters! I think this was the best AND longest leg massage I've ever had at a pedicure for any price point. But for manicure one old lady did my nails and while removing the calus, she cut my skin at many places and it bleed and while filing the nails as well the filer touched other places of the fingers and it cut my fingers. I was seen at 515 and ended up with a regular pedi due to walk ins. My entire pedicure lasted 25 minutes and seemed quite rushed. One cuticle bleed a little due to being stuck with the tool. Q-Nails was recommended to me by a friend who said they provide great gel pedicure/manicure services so I had to check it out. Let me tell you I was not disappointed. I've been here twice now. Once for a gel pedicure and again for a gel manicure/regular pedicure. The first time I had an appointment but the second time I walked in and was helped immediately. Every time I've come, I have been given great service. The nail techs are very gentle to ensure you won't get cut. They make sure you have enough time to pick your colors and that you are happy with the shape. Also the chairs for the pedicures are massage chairs which is a plus. The massage that comes with the pedicure is also very relaxing. They rub oil and lotion on your feet and legs and finish it off with peppermint infused towels. I came in yesterday with my friend, and called about 30 minutes beforehand to see if they had availability for two pedi's. They were extremely accommodating, and was able to schedule us for the time we wanted. This is a very clean salon - they clean the spa chairs after each client, and not in a half-ass way. They literally take out the jets and covers to everything and scrub it down. Tools are in sterilized packaging, and they use new files and buffers on each client. They have a pretty good selection of Essie & OPI colors, and offer Gelish & Shellac services as well. I also appreciate the fact that they honor appointment times, and do not rush your services to cram in walk-ins. They are honest and upfront about wait times. For the pedi itself, my tech (Kelly, I think) did a great job! My feet felt brand new after, and she applied the color perfectly. And even after we left, and my friend smacked her toes getting into my car, they were extremely friendly about fixing it when we came back in. As for the reviews that say they speak in Vietnamese during services, yes they do. However, they didn't say one bad thing about customers. They were just talking amongst themselves about their personal lives, and scheduling issues when clients called/walked in. And they did talk to us when they felt it was appropriate (i.e. a lull in our own convo). I don't look Vietnamese, more of a generic Asian, and my tech was surprised when I handed her my credit card to pay, to see my Vietnamese last name. So for those that think they're talking about you, don't flatter yourself, and stop being so hyper-sensitive. I will definitely be back. read more
