We recently stopped into Qahwah House on a hot summer day and were pleasantly surprised by both the drinks and the atmosphere. We ordered the iced Yemeni Chai Latte and the Dubai Chocolate Latte, and both were incredibly refreshing. The Yemeni chai had a wonderful blend of warm spices, while the Dubai Chocolate Latte really hit the spot, especially if you enjoy rich, pistachio-chocolate flavor profiles. Service was quick and friendly, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance was one of the highlights of our visit. The café has an eclectic, welcoming vibe, with Yemeni music playing in the background and walls adorned with beautiful artwork, murals, and maps that pay homage to the history of coffee and its trade routes around the world, particularly Yemen's important role in coffee culture[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We also tried the honey bread stuffed with a mild, soft cheese. While the bread itself was fresh and the honey was absolutely delicious (and available for purchase at the register), we found the pastry a bit bland for our tastes. That said, it may simply be that our Western palates were expecting something sweeter than what is traditionally intended. There were plenty of other pastries that looked tempting, but we'd definitely return primarily for the iced lattes and the unique atmosphere. I tried their honeycomb cake! Even though cake is in the name, it's more doughy like a bread. Little balls of dough with a cream cheese (or some type of cheese filling) drizzled with honey. It was really delicious even after consuming the next day. It's good both baked in the oven or microwaved. I prefer it microwaved as it makes it softer. The Yemeni latte was okay, the coffee tasted burnt or perhaps slightly old, and the added spice notes weren't enough to offset the beans. The Khaliat Alnahl (a cheese-filled soft bread with honey) was a bit one-note. I found the flavor to more or less be the sum of its parts, a danish-like sweet cheese filling in bread. Extremely rich, as a solo diner I wasn't able to finish it. They heated it up to order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tables were a bit dirty, but I came during a high-traffic time of day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I think that there are better cafes in the Village, and so I would only return if I wanted to try their teas. read more

My daughter, who's an NYU student, has become completely obsessed with this place, so she treated me to my first Yemeni tea experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location was buzzing--pretty busy, all seats taken.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is bright and welcoming with warm wood furnishings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the tea and the honeycomb-style bread stuffed with cheese, and everything paired together perfectly. The tea was creamy with a slight cinnamon kick, and the bread was light, crispy, and flaky. I came here around 1pm on 11/1/25. I ordered the popular iced Yemeni latte, which was absolutely heavenly! Maher, the barista, went above and beyond by adding pistachio powder at my request (watch the first video below). It took about seven minutes to prepare, but every second was worth it. Next visit, I'm definitely trying the iced Chai Latte. Maher says it's Qahwah's most popular drink, and I can smell why (watch the second video below). Plenty of seating and a surprisingly clean café for such a busy Greenwich Village spot make it even better. read more

We saw this place had great reviews so we stopped by after having lunch at Nami Nori. The service was fast and friendly, he gave us a dessert recommendation of the milk cake, which was great. Similar to of a tres leches, rich and creamy. Latte and tea were also great! Definitely recommend stopping by. I think it can get busy but on this nice Saturday afternoon it wasn't, probably more in the mornings. read more

Great coffee shop! I love their Yemeni tea and the honey cheese pastry (I wish I remembered what it was called). It's so diverse here with cultures. Lovely to see big families come here as well. Wanted to find a place to get some work done, and Qahwah House was recommended as a cozy spot. Oh man, this place was insanely busy for hours straight. Like packed to the brim with seating being very hard to find. It made it super loud and crowded inside. They ask for a 90 minute seating window when busy. We tried the black tea with spices and asked for it to be light sweet, but it was VERY sweet! We couldn't finish the pot we got to share. read more

We came right around iftar time during Ramadan and the place was packed! People had to stake out their seats. I don't think that it will be this busy outside of Ramadan. The small pot of tea was more than enough for 3 people and was good. Only ask for sugar is you really need sugar- for us it ended up being too sweet. The honey cake was a large piece and also good for 3 people! It was not too sweet and had little blocks of cream cheese inside all of the holes in the bread. Overall for 1 slice and 1 small pot was around 25$. read more

I'm usually someone who makes coffee at home to avoid the outside costs but, The coffee here doesn't have the awful aftertaste acidity that you find in cheaper grocery store coffee. It's a nice change of pace when I want something smoother and creamier. It pairs perfectly well with the sabaya, which is a treat that I had never had the honor of trying before this. This is a very quaint and cozy place for delicious Yemeni coffee or tea. The desserts and pastries are also delicious. I came here with three people; two of us ordered a Yemeni coffee and one person ordered the Yemeni tea. All of them are full of flavor. They do have non-dairy milk for those who are lactose intolerant. The staff are friendly and quick to prepare your order. The space is good for working at, with plugins all around the place to charge laptop/electronic devices. Shame on me. I drank my iced Yemen Latte in a New York minute instead of savoring it. Reason? It was that delicious. I loved everything about this little gem. Cozy and authentic, the staff were very welcoming upon my first time visit. I had zero clue how or what to order. The person at the counter was extremely helpful. Final selection was an iced Yemen Latte which incorporated the deliciousness of Middle Eastern spices such as Cardamon. As I waited for the beverage, every table was occupied and I couldn't help but notice the unique manner of how beverages were arranged by decanter and cups. The counter had an amazing display of sweets such as Creme Brulee tart and Baklava. If you fancy tea, there's a variety on the menu. I could picture myself returning with friends and enjoying a beverage (either coffee or tea) with a delightful sweet treat. In fact, as I waited for my iced coffee, another employee behind the counter offered me a sample of their hot tea. Absolutely delicious. My iced coffee was off the charts delicious! I even received a discount off the original price. Such a nice gesture. This place is a goldmine and I'm anxious to return. A lovely, spacious cafe with friendly service. We came here before noon on a Sunday and it was not busy yet with seats plentiful. There were also three tables outside. It did get packed by 1pm and some people were even standing around waiting for seating to free up. I love that there's an option to have tea/coffee by the pot which is perfect for two to share. For bites we ordered the Khaliat Al Nahl (Yemenite Honeycomb Bread) which was perfect. The honey added just the right amount of sweetness to it while the cream cheese filling added a density to it that was not too heavy. They had a lot of other pastries in their display case and other coffee/tea varieties I'd love to come back to try! read more

Was excited when this place opened but have yet to have a positive experience. Been here a few times and just don't get the hype. Love strong spiced coffee but have yet to get a drink we'd make a point to come back for (especially given their price point). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is always so chaotic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Most drinks are pricey and meh. Usually get coffee but also tried the tea. Found it to be especially tannic and unpleasant. Never tried the sweets but they seemed popular. The ordering process is not optimal. Menu can be confusing (ex. Some drinks are sit in only/not available to go & it's not at all clear what drinks are sweet- some are topped with whipped cream) and the staff are often surly. Frequently stuck behind people understandably struggling to place an order. Even when the place is not busy there's typically a significant wait for your order and/or table. Suspect they need more help as the tables are often not cleaned in a timely manner. To be honest, have had much better Arabic style coffee elsewhere in the city. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is a branch of a growing chain out of Michigan and it shows. I had the yemeni latte which was good but tasted strong. My friend had the adeni chai which i liked a lot because of the spices. We also tried the honeycomb bread which has cream cheese and was a unique pastry. It goes well with the coffee. It's a little bit challenging to find seating because people sit for a long time. read more

It was an unexpected stop here as our wait at a nearby restaurant was 1.5 hours. This place was surprisingly busy. We were afraid that we wouldn't be able to sit but it worked itself out! You order at the front and as you wait for your order, you can hawkishly look out for people leaving their tables. We shared the adeni chai. The taste was great with a very milky flavor. But my teeth were left feeling like they needed a wash after. The spinach pastry was very good! I would def come by again for another pot of tea and to try the other pastries. Was going to get gelato at the place next door but I remembered hearing good things about this place and recognized the sign, so I decided to come here instead. There is a nice amount of seating and it wasn't too crowded, which would've made it the perfect place to work if I had brought my computer with me. I decided to buy two Talias and an iced Adeni Chai. I had to wait a while for the coffee, but it was refreshing with a perfect blend of spices. The Talias were even more so, and gave me a newfound appreciation for pistachio treats. If I was ever in this area again, I would be more than happy to return. read more

When you realize qahwah is Arabic for coffee and you are not a coffee drinker, you hesitate. But at the suggestion of a friend visiting town I tried Qahwah House. More accurately, I had their Adeni chai. It is made from black tea and evaporated milk ... with spice and sugar ... and serves two. Perfect blend of tea and spices. And a perfect drink for the wintry days to come. Qahwah is a great space. Nothing like it would go undiscovered in the West Village and, sure enough, seating is at a premium. The space is large, bright and welcoming. Service is superb. Prices are high but par-for-the-course when you consider the quantity. If I lived in the vicinity I would likely come here every day. A refreshing change from Starbucks and other large cafe chains. read more

They've kept this place in good condition. Lots of seating and menus everywhere. It once was an Art Deco bank, you can kind of get the feel of that just from looking around. If you look at the mural behind the cash out point it gives you a little touch of history what once happened within these walls. I ordered the salmon toast. It was a little hard but I like the cream cheese was thinly spread not just thrown in like many places. The salmon was good and the mint tasted fresh. The capers were like slightly toasted and crispy, i've never had them like that before and I loved it. I think the toast was just missing a little drizzle of olive oil on top. To be honest, I think the capers were my favorite part. They were just this unique texture. I've never experienced before. I also got an iced lavender chai latte to go. It was so light and delightful, with the perfect blend of lavender. I really enjoyed this place and would totally come back again.
