After my appointment at Kaiser Hospital, I was eager to find a coffee shop other than Starbucks. Since I was in downtown San Jose, I expected there to be more interesting options. I couldn't believe I'd never noticed it before--perhaps it was hidden among the office buildings, or maybe it had just opened. When I walked in, only one person was ahead of me in line. Despite that, the café was lively--many people sat alone with their laptops, a few sat in pairs, and plenty of seats remained open. Behind the counter, a single woman managed the register, prepared coffee, and served pastries. Wow, she truly was a Wonder Woman! My order took a while, and as I waited, the line grew longer. I felt for her; perhaps someone had called in sick, or maybe this was just the norm. I didn't mind the wait since the World Cup was playing on TV, but I did notice a group of people give up and leave. My Iced Pistachio Latte was velvety-smooth, and the almond croissant was perfectly crispy and golden brown, with just the right amount of sweetness from the almond cream inside. I'd love to try more of their pastries and coffees in the future. Hopefully, next time, the woman will have a helping hand. read more

I had little expectations when I came with my wife for morning coffee. It's a quaint place near the airport, but is big inside. There's at least 5-6 tables inside. The best part- they have giant TV's! Saw a couple parties watching world cup games. I too was enticed. Their prices are reasonable. For 4.50$ I got turkish coffee of a reasonably large portion. Newly opened and right next to my favorite ikes and Vito's, i found this Turkish coffee place. The ambiance is gorgeous and relaxing and service is friendly. They were busier than i thought and now i know why! Since we were short on time we ordered the Adani tea (large kittle) to share ($27 incl tax/tip). - Adani tea - 3/5 - I loved the fact that the tea was creamy and sugar was not pre-added. It was very close to indian chai and loved that it came with a lit candle to keep it warm! Loved the earthen cups. Deducting one star for being over-priced. After 10 mins, the server surprised us with a complimentary order of "Turkish coffee" -- YAY!! - Turkish coffee - 4/5 - $5.50 plus tax but complimentary for us - it was served in a beautiful tray and cups. This was flavorful black coffee which was perfect and high caffeine. Loved it! Definitely coming back empty stomach next time to try their honey comb bread, tiramisu and pistachio pastry :) They have inside and outside seating. Another amazing Yemeni cafe! I love that so many are popping up in the area. They have beautiful lighting inside and a huge display of sweets to choose from in addition to their coffee. I only saw street parking, but there may be parking behind the shop that I just don't know how to access. Biscoff Latte (16oz $7.50): There is a 12oz option, but I didn't realize until after I purchased that the staff at the register defaulted to 16oz without asking me my preference. Didn't matter that much since I was thrilled with the huge (!!) mug and it was really tasty hot, but just so you're aware. Mango Cheesecake ($8.50): I read raves about their different flavored cheesecakes, and I was feeling mango today. It is indeed darn good. Strong mango flavor and it's pretty sweet, so I balanced it out by taking sips of coffee in between bites :P I will absolutely be back to try their pistachio latte and other cheesecake flavors when I'm near SJC! read more

This Arabic coffee shop is new to us and decided to check out since it's a convenient location. I had only a simple coffee since I was about to fly out for the day. I must say the coffee was super smooth! The space is very large, bright, and clean. The pastry selection looked scrumptious and will plan to return in future. Qishr is honestly one of the prettiest coffee experiences I've had in a while. Everything feels intentional, from the ornate serving trays to the presentation of the drinks themselves. One of the sweetest details was that the barista made me this tiny frosted milk pouring cup on the side because that's how I personally like to drink it. It made the whole experience feel super thoughtful and personalized. We also had the iced Biscoff cookie latte, a hot pistachio latte, and the honeycomb bites. Both lattes had these beautiful swirls lining the inside of the glass, crushed Biscoff cookie layered through the iced latte and pistachio swirls throughout the hot drink. First let me say: get the cheesecake. Don't get me wrong, the coffee is good but at the end of the day it is just coffee. The CHEESECAKE is different, it's easily one of my favorite cheesecakes ever. like others, i also really wanted to like this place. unfortunately, had a dismal time (went at 8pm). there's a parking garage next to the strip of businesses, which had plenty of free parking. the front exit/entrance close off after a certain time though, which forces you to walk all the way around to the back to get back to your car there was no line when we came in and only a few people waiting for their drinks here and there. we ordered an iced pistachio latte with oat milk, and an iced biscoff (biscuit) latte with oat milk. drinks are default 16 oz, 7 to 8 dollars, and oat milk is a 1.00 upcharge. that's $9 a drink, near $10 with tax. we waited over THIRTY MINUTES for Two drinks when the store was objectively not busy. we ended up checking around the 25 minute mark, just to make sure they didn't lose our ticket entirely. they were apologetic about the wait but over thirty minutes is insane for any drink establishment, coming from someone who has worked at multiple. i wouldn't be this upset if the drinks were good. unfortunately, their biscoff latte was not sweet at all. this confuses me, because biscoff on its own is pretty sweet, and the spread you can purchase in a jar is also relatively sweet. the pistachio on the other hand is overly sweet, but it is also the only thing you can taste in the drink. their espresso has 0 flavor despite being made with a massive la marzocco machine, which is rather disappointing. i could not taste the espresso at all, if there was even any in there. both lattes came out very pale. i felt like i paid $9 for slightly flavored and watered down oat milk. there wasn't enough ice in the cups either, despite us not asking for less ice in our drinks. if i wanted to drink straight oat milk, i would've just poured some out of a carton. at 16oz, drinks need at minimum a double shot of espresso OR more ice to correct the ratios. i would not come back here until the ratios are fixed and they've figured out how to fix their service time/drinks. the space is otherwise beautiful though with plenty of seating, and i have hope that they can make the proper adjustments. until then, will have to continue driving to fremont for my fix read more

I was so excited to find an Arabic coffee shop near me. I've had to go all the way to Santa Clara or Fremont for Yemeni or Turkish coffee, so getting my fix was so far and few between. I stopped by Qishr Coffee House around 8am on a Tuesday. The cafe was clean and modern with a touch of Middle Eastern design. There was one other guest while I was there, and she was cozied up in a corner working on her laptop. Definitely spacious and comfortable for setting up a post for work or study. I think Qishr would benefit with having a bell at the front if there's only one server working. The other guest helped to flag the barista for me, who was in the back kitchen. That said, she was a sweet lady, and she made me smile with her cheeriness and genuine excitement for the items I ordered. I got a Mufawar coffee with medium sweetness. The drink comes out piping hot, so be sure to let it sit for a bit to reach ambient temperature. Fantastic bold spices. Speaking of spices, everything I ate was so flavorful and aromatic. The chicken shwarma had a curry flavor, and the the beef pie had a more cinnamon, allspice flavor. My favorite was the spinach and feta pie. Stopped by here for the first time on Tuesday and came back two days later because the coffee is so flipping GOOD. Excellent customer service, and chill ambiance for anyone looking for a place to study or get work done. There's plenty of seating outside and inside, free WiFi, and some nice LoFi music. Tuesday I got the tiramisu latte which was perfectly sweet and balanced. Today I got the Spanish latte which had the ideal amount of condensed milk -- the unique flavor was present without overpowering the rest of the drink. The espresso used in both drinks were smooth with a lovely hint of bitterness. The Ube cheesecake was super rich and not too sweet so the flavors were gentle. It was on the sweeter side which is good for me, but if you don't like that maybe it's not the best choice for you. I'm pleasantly surprised at how elegant this place is. I love the decor. The coffee is legit too. I got the flat white coffee with the coffee milk cake. It's excellent on all levels. The cake is sweet but not overly. It's a great contrast to the flat white. There's plenty of caffeine in the little cup. They serve it in an elegant tray. You get a little a pager that vibrates when the dessert is ready. We'd have to get it ourselves but I'm not complaining. It was a bit of a wait, but worth it. We came around lunchtime on a weekday. Qishr is a clean, bright cafe serving Yemeni coffee and pastries. We ordered the qishr with no milk or sugar, berry refresher, honeycomb pastry, saffron milk cake, and chicken musakhan roll. The favorite was easily the honeycomb pastry. It's made of individual bite-sized buns each stuffed with cream cheese, baked together served like a pie slice, with sesame seeds and honey on top. The combination was delicous and each bite was a real indulgence. I thought the saffron milk cake could have had a little more fragrance. I also personally would have preferred the milk sauce to be a litle thicker so that the mouthfeel is richer. The chicken musakhan roll had pleasant tangy aftertaste probably from lemons or dried lime. I usually order black coffee so I got the qishr (brewed coffee husks with spices) with no milk or sugar. It's good as is but I can taste how a little bit of both would balance the drink better. They would bridge the slightly bitter roastiness and the warm spices nicely. One suggestion is to update the digital menu with a brief description of the qishr, mofawer, and Adani tea. These are more unique drinks and might be less intimidating to order if there was a short explanation of ingredients and recommended sugar and milk levels. Overall the vibe is nice and relaxed, and I'd come back to grab some more honeycomb pastry and try their other Yemeni drinks. read more

There are very few coffee houses where a cup feels like home, and this is one of the rare ones! Everytime I come in I'm greeted with a smile by the owner Ali and the team. I've had their Mufawar (OG Yemeni coffee), Adeni chai (warm Yemeni tea), and their Qishr (naturally decaf Yemeni drink) and everything is delicious. Don't leave without trying their milk cakes! My favorite is their mango milk cake. It's soft, dripping with mango flavor and the custard in the cake is absolutely lovely. And this spot is open till late (around 2 am on weekends) especially considering there are VERY few coffee spots open post 5 pm in the South Bay and this is one of them. All drinks were served tableside and piping hot. The interiors are spotless and lovely, with comfy couches and the whole place has a really good vibe. Great place to work from too, noticed lots of folks working late on one side. And great place to stop in for a coffee since it's right next to Kaiser at Skyport too. Bro and I came by on a Sunday morning less traffic less crowd any later that it's pack. Interior quite spacious decorative Middle-Eastern decor with added cushion comfort sofas for relaxation. We were greeted very warmly so inviting they even have a display case of various Yemeni pastries we were tempted but instead we chose iced mocha classic with whipped cream and pistachio latte. Unlike other coffee shops this one stays late in the wee hours in the morning whereas alot of business are closed. A great place for after hours dine-in with friends and co-workers rather than hanging out at a late night bar clubs/taverns. Here they have a large outdoor seating and ample parking would definitely be back highly recommend so support your local business. read more
