We've been here so many times and will come back so many more. Haven't tried any other Korean BBQ nor hot pot elsewhere in Richmond and we honestly don't feel a need. This place is consistent and clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is dangerously good. As many have said, you have to know what you're doing in order to make the most of this experience, and it IS an experience. You'll choose a soup base (all of them are good) which the waiters will bring and heat on your table. Then you'll hit the buffet and grab anything you want to add to your soup (they have all sorts of noodles, veggies, seafood and more). You'll also grab any meats you want to cook on your table's little grill. What I especially love is that the KBBQ and hot pot are all one flat rate, you don't have to order anything but your soup base and any drinks. I recommend getting a big plate for all of your soup add ons, and a small plate for your raw meats. They'll give you tongs to cook the meat and a giant pair of scissors to cut everything (wait to cut the meat until it's cooked). Apologies for the novel above, but maybe it will help someone. Yes it can be overwhelming if you're not used to the cuisine, but it is WORTH trying that something new. Qpot also has a full Chinese buffet, great for kids who are scared of the grill and the soup. The selection besides that is not too bad either. They have different assortment of shrimp, seafood, meat, and noodles. The broths, though, are just okay. They don't have much depth to them. Wow! I was almost disappointed with Richmond's hot pot scene (coming from DC/MD) until I experienced this place. First off the interior is bright, fun, yet beautiful! The gold pots and silverware gave it a slightly upscale feel. I liked being able to get the raw foods yourself instead of waiting on it to be brought.. i was able to use the kbbq meats in my hot pot (like thick pieces of salmon, chunks of chicken and beef instead of thin slices. The sauce bar was VERY clean and had great options.. even had old bay seasoning! Only downside was service. I was seated next to a table of 2 and in front of another solo diner (i was solo too), but i noticed these tables were checked on regularly by my same waitress who repeatedly skipped my table- i only was assisted when i flagged her down.. as she made her rounds to the tables around me. There was only one obvious difference- i'll let u see my profile pic to guess. Ill try another day but if this is a theme, i will gladly stop patronizing.. shame. read more

My new favorite place to be! I've visited Richmond Short Pump many of times and knew about this place, but figured it's just another buffet place that I can try another time. And if the sign stated "Korean BBQ Buffet " I would have been hitting it a long time ago! We'll, today was the day. And boy I was so amazed how big and fun it was! When you walk in it's so colorful and the decore is very trendy! Very clean and modern. The service was spot on, plus the price was good. Most other Koren BBQ Buffet places I've been where priced higher. I was so excited to start the experience The back wall had so many choices to pick from just for the soup experience , and sauces as well. The Island stands have the raw meat you can chose from for grilling. Plus cooked side dishes, fruits, vegetables, noodles, spring rolls, french fries...etc... Oh how I love a good HotPot session! A group of us came in to celebrate our February birthdays and I'm so glad we did! All the food was fresh, and customer service was immaculate! I came here during a weekday dinner and got the ayce for $34 pp. They give you one hot broth of choice, a variety of meats, veggies, and sauce fixing to choose from. The KBBQ also had a good selection of beef, pork, and some other meats. My favorite for the bbq were the garlic pork and spicy pork but they did they a long time to cook and get crispy. The ribeye and short rib were pretty good as well. I was able to try both the tomyum and miso soup. The Tom yum was very savory and sour and my preferred soup for the hotpot. It was very hot temperature wise which cooled the toppings and meat fast but was hard to sip on as I burnt my mouth a tad(but worth it). Overall it's easily the best KBBQ in the Richmond area! All of the food is self serve (besides the hot pot soup base), which I really like since you can control your own portion sizes and try a bit of everything. It can be overwhelming with so many food options so I'd recommend going with ample time to enjoy it. The table was kind of small when you're trying to manage the grill, pot, and various plates. Next time I'd probably focus on one thing at a time. For adults, lunch (M-F til 3:30pm) is $23 and dinner/weekends/holidays is $34. They do have a buffet only option during weekday lunch. read more

This place was awesome. I am no stranger to hotpot but this was my first time at Qpot and it is now my go to for hotpot. The buffet style eliminates waiting on a waiter to bring you your next course and there are plenty of offerings. Jay was taking care of us and was very prompt with drinks and refills. He was a genuine guy and you could tell he enjoyed working there. The restaurant itself was much brighter inside than I imagined it would be and was a great family atmosphere. As a newbie to the hot pot scene, I had a somewhat disappointing experience at Qpot. The server didn't ask if we had ever dined there before, if we had any questions, and did not provide any guidance. I thought, ok maybe that's just the way it's done here. My daughter ordered lemonade and I asked for water. We went off to the buffet while waiting for our soup base to arrive. We returned to our table where my daughter's lemonade was served and I received a mug of hot water! We tried cooking some proteins on the hot plate, thought maybe ours was broken. I got up to fetch the hostess to show me how to operate the hot plate (because my server was nowhere to be found). After what seemed like an eternity, our soup bases arrived and I asked the server to please bring me a cup of cold water. In the interim, another family was seated next to us and I listened in amazement as another server greeted the family and gave them a complete overview. So apparently, we just had a lackluster server. Overall, the experience wasn't great. The bad service would likely have been less of an issue if we'd known what we were doing - this is a buffet after all. We will actually return and hopefully get a better server next time. We were able to glean some tips from listening in on the other table's server, but a little too late to take full advantage of our time there. read more

I love a good hot pot and experience! Qpot did not disappoint! They have some of the freshest selection of meats and veggies. There is a huge variety of things to choose from. I am personally a seafood lover, so having the opportunity to make a pot with crab legs, scallop, shrimp, mussels, and a side of salmon was right up my alley. They have meats for grilling, as well as ramen, eggs, etc. to add to your pots. They also have a buffet of hot foods such as orange chicken, wings, green beans and rice. QPot has a variety of broths to choose from. I don't like extremely spicy food, so I went with the herb broth so that I could adjust the heat to my desired taste. The service at Qpot is amazing! They give explicit directions on how to utilize the pots and grills. They also assist as needed and give recommendations at your request. But after that, we had to get up and find someone every single time we needed something. We asked a server to come take our order. Once she returned with our soups, we didn't see her again. There was no explanation, so it was good that we have had hot pot before. Our first trip to the food bar, the labels were in a pile on top of the shield. However, with all the raw foods sitting out, it did make me worried about getting sick, but I didn't, so it must be decently clean especially because we went at the end of the night. The server was also very attentive and nice. I'm knocking down a star because the broth for the hot pot wasn't as rich and flavorful as it is at Hot Pot 757, and overall, I've had better hot pot/KBBQ elsewhere. The quality of meat is better , i like that its self serve so you dont have to wait for your server, and the hotbar is nice too (the green beans are super good and they have crab rangoon!!) The only thing I'd ask is better labeling for their sauces, some are pretty confusing , like the sesame oil doesnt look like sesame oil... some are mislabeled. The meat options range from beef, pork, lamb, chicken to crab legs, octopus, and other parts of animals like tripe that I'm not brave enough to try just yet lol. For our hot pot we chose the Tom yum and the spicy soup. Both were okay but with it simmering our whole stay, the herbs and spices started to change the flavor into something bitter and not as tasty. Loved the sauce bar and if you don't know what you're doing they have recommendations on what to mix. In addition to the bbq/hot pot they also have a sides bar and a hot bar with prepared foods. But again, this is mainly an experience where you cook your own food so if that's not your thing..figure something else out! read more

All in all, we had a good experience at Q Hot Pot. The Chinese buffet items were delicious and beat out a few other buffets in the area in terms of flavor and freshness. The Korean BBQ meats were all tender and nicely marinated - my favorite had to be the tenderized steak, and my friend really enjoyed the pork belly. The hot pot items were endless, vegetables were fresh, and there were multiple meat options. Both of our soup bases were flavorful, and the service was friendly and quick. I can't give five stars because there are some issues. The spicy soup base is absolutely loaded with whole spices. It was delicious, don't get me wrong, but it was hard to enjoy the items coming out of the hot pot while they were covered in spices (which also kept getting stuck in my teeth - embarrassing!) That's not to say it wasn't good, but take it as a a warning. When they say "spicy," they're not just talking about the heat! The hot pot item selection was fantastic, but labels on the items themselves would be much more helpful than having to stand back and look up at a banner hanging above the cooler. The dessert selection was extremely lacking and consisted of two different kinds of freezer-burnt cream cakes typical of a buffet, stale cookies, and some dry cake balls. In comparison to all the other food, and considering the price, the dessert options should be much higher quality. The restaurant itself was clean and there were plenty of staff to attend to customers. Our server was very helpful and polite, and even though his English was limited, he was ready with a translator app if it became necessary. You pick the meats and veggies that you want and you cook them on the heated cast iron grill plate at your table. Thay's the bbq. It cooks fast too! I learned the hard way haha. The beef short ribs were so tasty! For the hotpot you pick your soup base flavor and choose the meats and veggies or ramen noodles and other things you want to toss in the pot. We had the pork bone broth and the spicy broth. Both were really good! You get whatever sides and sauces that you like and in our case was the white rice, kimchi and egg rolls and it was a real bon appetite situation after that haha! They also have dessert if you have room left for it. It's a really cool, delicious and fun dining experience. If you have never done it, maybe you should!
