    Specialty cinnamon roll

I love this little hidden gem; it's a place I can only visit on the weekend as thg hours don't work for me during the week so it's become a treat. I typically grab a cup of coffee from the coffee house across the street Ang enjoy it while I wait in line. If I'm lucky enough to visit on a Sunday, the star has to be the scones. They are not your typical dry, dense scones; these are light and buttery. I have a hard time deciding between sweet and savory. I also really enjoy their seeded sliced bread. It is also light and beautiful. Great for avocado toast, sandwiches, panini, garlic bread. It's a winner.

Never disappoints!cinnamon rolls are amazing!!!! The seasonal focaccia is out of this world!

Nightingale opens 11am on the weekend so I got there a few mins before they opened and lined up. A cute lil bakery in downtown Forestville, plenty of street parking. They still only allow 2 people in at a time. I ordered a lime cheesecake, a chocolate cookie, a large french bread, and 2 thimbles and came to over $40. Definitely pricey! I would suggest ordering the smaller french bread if you cant finish the large one in a day. I tried to eat the other half the next day and it was as hard as a rock. The lime cheesecake however surprised me! It was delicious. It was the only flavor they had when I was there but according to their menu they sometimes have lemon and passion fruit. Worth a stop! Its only a 3 min drive down from Mom's Pies.

This loaf of bread in the photo is priced at $7.50. Seriously! I miss Beth the Baker. This is no longer the neighborhood bakery... I believe it's now meant for tourists traveling through. By the way, this was a normal sized pen, & that is an abnormally small loaf of bread. So disappointed.

We also shared a fruit galette that had a lot of berries and pear on it. Lastly, we got their tan square which has a short bread base and then a thick, butterscotch and nuts top. It's so so rich and buttery. I highly recommend this wonderful bakery!

Everything looked fresh and delicious. I had walked in ready to order the chocolate cream pie but the kind lady working that day showed us the list of pies with their sweetness levels and the chocolate was one of the sweeter ones. Hubby doesn't like his pies too sweet so we went back to the drawing board and decided to order one of their fruit pies. Triple berry it is! Wow, wonderful pie, incredible crust, not too sweet and filled with lots and lots of fruit. It was the perfect pie for our family. They sell two sizes of pies but you will be sorry if you don't get the bigger one since they are so delicious. Their highly praised apple is also excellent. There are a couple tables inside if you'd like to try a cookie or a slice of the pie of the day. I love the Mom's Apple Pie metal statue by the Florence Avenue artist, Patrick Amiot, near the front door. We love supporting local businesses and this one deserves a shout out. The lady working the counter was the sweetest, most helpful person too. Thank you Mom's for providing our community with such incredible pies.

I know prices have gone up a lot for everything but the $30 pies just aren't worth it. My friend and I calculated a mark up of at least 1500% based on the fact they grow their own apples. The taste is fine but not that special. I think Betty the original owner must have sold the place or died. There's never anyone in there and they don't like taking cash. They used to sell pie by the slice and the place was packed. Now it's $19 if you want a taste. They used to serve sandwiches too-all that went away. One exception: the strawberry pie is divine, but only available in Early June. I think the place is now a tourist trap, catching the unwary who don't know better. I hope they rethink their business model, drop their price about $12 per pie and work on improving customer service. Bored high school kids are the norm and they can do better. I recommend picking up a frozen pie at Ace hardware in town and cooking it at home.

Our experience unfortunately left much to be desired, & I expressed the below as feedback to a server, as when I asked to speak to the manager or owner, I was told she was busy. I was also told that maybe "she didn't realize" about other restaurant events that day when our reservation was taken. As an establishment, please think twice (and maybe even don't take?) large group reservations if you know your kitchen can't handle them on a busy day. No one would fault you for that. Especially since we were contacted to move our original earlier reservation to a later one due to 'two other big groups' at that original time. However, when we did come in at the requested later time, a curt 'just so you know, it'll be a while' statement by our server at the way beginning of the eventual meal was followed up by *zero* eye contact , communication or updates. We had to finally go ask about the ETA *an hour and a half after ordering*, due to extreme hunger, flight times & medication timings in our group. The food was ok, nothing memorable & nothing wrong with it- just that some members didn't receive items how they ordered them. Though we received some very good scones & an apology from the server whom we gave this feedback to (that was nice of her) & I understand from other commentary it's a popular spot, our group would not return.

The grounds here are always quite lovely and a pleasure to walk past the gardens & nice redwoods to get to the deli. It was quite a bit busier than we had anticipated. It seemed that perhaps they were shortstaffed or not expecting so many people to stop by. We waited in a line to place our order- two of us decided to do the salad sampler. As it was my friend's birthday we ordered a bottle of their brut rosé. When the bubbles arrived, even though the bottle was in an ice bucket, it wasn't properly chilled. We had a glass, but were unable to finish it with the tepid temperature. As we still had almost half a bottle left we asked for a cork or some kind of stopper to bring it home. We were informed they have no such thing. I can't understand how a Winery wouldn't have a spare cork. We ended up passing on the bottle to a group of men having lunch. One friend thoroughly enjoyed the Caesar salad. The two of us that had the salad samples were somewhat disappointed. It seems I had the very last of the pasta salad so my friend was unable to get hers. Upon trying the salad, It had a very strange taste that I couldn't quite figure out. I had both of my friends taste it and they agreed it had a bit of a chalky flavor. Thankfully, when I brought this to the attention to the staff, they were able to let me switch it out. As I mentioned, it was maybe busier than they had expected and were disappointed that they were all out of water as we had just hiked 5 miles in warm weather. Additionally, when we arrived, the Deli was already out of two salads. The outdoor setting is absolutely lovely and adds a big bonus to a dining experience here. We ordered a slice of cake to share to celebrate a birthday and unfortunately, it was on the dry side. Because it's such a beautiful setting and we're guessing they were short staffed I'm rating this a 4 star experience and hoping that at a future time we will be more impressed.
