Brought my daughters car in for a noise...sounded like a belt. I was told upfront that it could take a few days. Imagine my surprise when they called about an hour later...with the bad news that my daughters car needed a new engine. I was like WHAT??? There's only 40k miles on this car. I was devastated, my daughter was devastated. They said it would be $8800 for a rebuilt engine. Being that the car was only really worth about $7k we were looking at a total loss. Took it for another opinion and another mechanic said it's just a loose dirty spark plug and figured it out in about 15 min. Thank god I got another opinion. So what was the angle? Is it because I'm a woman?? Did they know it was just my spark plug and they were going to just say they gave me a new engine? Were they going to take my engine out and put a rebuilt one because they knew how much money they would make off of it??? Or do their mechanics really just suck??? Whatever the scenario--STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! On another note, I did go up there to get my $110 back they charged me and raised hell. read more

It's hard to find a good repair shop and once you think you have, you want to stick with them. I stuck with these guys for too long and really regret doing so. I've used them in the past and while the price was high, it was clean and the guys seemed nice. I actually reasoned with them on the pricing a few times with references to estimates on the internet that showed that they were 2x what was expected. They were still a premium price, but I just wanted the work done. Did have a couple of times where it took a second visit to get things addressed. But the last straw was a fuel pump replacement that was going to cost an exorbitant amount. Car had to be towed there, so I guess they thought i was just stuck. They wouldn't budge on price. Found a new place and the work was done for 1/5 of the price. Like seriously. Could not believe it. That new place has been my trusted mechanic ever since. I imagine that it costs a lot for all of their advertising and mailers. That is probably the strategy and they get tons of people who really don't know what a fair and reasonable rate is for most repairs. It's really sad. read more

i brought My 2016 keep grad Cherokee here for a tune up before a long road trip vacation. The engine light was on and I knew what the fix needed to be. After the diagnostic test, they quoted the tune up to nearly 3k. I was shocked. i Told them we were not going to go through with the suggestions because they were priced WAY to high. They tried to charge an extra $140 for stuff they said they did to the car AFTER we said not to touch the car. this should be illegal. disappointed, disgusted, feel like I wasted money on nothing. now my car is acting stranger than it was when I brought it in. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! THESE GUYS ARE INCOMPITENT. THE FAILED TO MAKE THE REPAIR I WAS CHARGED FOR...TOOK THEM 3 WEEKS...AND IT'S GOING TO COST ME MORE MONEY TO HAVE IT FIXED RIGHT! It took them 3 weeks to replace the timing chain on my car. They actually bent a valve putting it back together because they didn't have a tool which was required. I drove the car less than 4 thousand miles, and found out the timing chain cover has been leaking the whole time. The car actually broke down on me on a 900 mile trip from NJ to FL. The shop here in Florida tells me the timing cover is leaking, and has been for some time. Quality Auto claimed to have a Nationwide Warranty on the repair. When I tried to file a claim, I found out this repair was not covered. Quality Auto then told me they only used Mazda Parts so their "Nationwide Warranty" is not in effect. They wanted me to bring the car back 900 miles so they can diagnose/fix. Shop here in Florida says its a $800 job to take the timing chain cover off and reseal it correctly. You go for a simple oil change and without asking they do a full car inspection and come back with over $1,500 of "needed" repairs. It was ironic that they said my wiper blades look worn down. The folks at Quality Auto did exce work on my 1980 Corvette. The did a much better job than a specialty shop in South NJ. They were more than kind, very efficient and had excellent follow up. The shop is cleaned and well maintained, as is the front office. I will have all future work on my collector car completed at Quality Auto Repair. read more

I have been taking my cars to this shop for several years, having them perform maintenance items such as oil changes, brakes, spark plugs and other miscellaneous activities. The work had been adequate until my most recent oil change. The car is a 2012 Subaru Outback, which is certainly very common. When I dropped the car off, I mentioned that I needed to add about a quart of oil between oil changes. They called me to tell me that the car need a replacement oil drain plug - which I approved. They later called me telling me they were having a hard time finding the part, I suggested that they buy if from a dealer, they told me they have their sources. They found an appropriate plug, I picked up the car - all good, or so I thought. The car was now needing a quart of oil about every 1,000 miles - time to go to the dealer. The dealer immediately found the issue - the wrong drain plug was used, oil was obviously leaking and provided pictures of the wrong sized plug and the oil spattered under my car. I called Quality Auto and spoke to Ben, I described the issue, the findings and my concerns - Ben didn't seem to be concerned, but asked me if I wanted the manager to call me back, I said yes. I have not received a call back. Had I not stayed on top of the oil leak, the outcome could have been disastrous. This repair shop has a quality control issue, at the very least. They used the wrong part, their lack of concern and lack of acknowledgement seems to indicate that perhaps there is a more serious issue. I would not recommend the use repair shop. read more

Do not go here. They cost me over $1,500 in repairs (after quoting me $2,200 - amazing how much the price can drop when you threaten to walk away) for parts and services I did not need. They replaced my entire cooling system (water pump, hoses, thermostat, and radiator) for a head gasket issue. REALLY?!? Also, who quotes $2,200 for a cooling system repair in the first place? The person I spoke with was extremely pushy and continued to insist that their concern was "my best interest" and "safety" but lets be honest, they had never met me and will never meet me again. Whatever. The fact that they did not know the difference between a cooling system and a head gasket issue (even I suspected it was not correct when it was diagnosed but being on vacation they kind of had me by the balls) is frightening. This is not your typical auto repair shop, because the inside is actually NICE! AAA rated, clean shop with a fantastic staff, these guys did a great job on my oil change, put in new front brakes, and made sure my car was ready for a long car trip. They offer shuttle service too, so I was able to get a ride to work after I dropped my car off there, SO convenient! They also have loaner cars if someone needs one. The prices for tires/labor were a little steep, but other than that everything was fantastic. read more

I brought my BMW in for repair. They assured me they could fix my car. My oil light was on and my service engine light. The car kept stalling. They did an 831.00 repair, and the next day I picked up my car I had the very same problem. I took it back they told me it was something else now. A mass air sensor. Another 250. ,and the oil light is still on. They tried to sell me a 92.00 oil change. I finally took it to a BMW dealer for the oil light . I is an oil level sensor that is bad. This shop appears to me like parts changers. Charged me 14.00 for a 4 oil cap that was not a BMW cap. I feel ripped off. I wouldn't take my bike to that shop. Picked up my car and on the way home car started to over heat again so I called mike at quality auto. He told me that are booked up on Saturday and to bring it back early next week. So I dropped it off on Tuesday and got a call back within 2 hours and told me that I have to a brand new computer system and will cost 3k. I asked why was this not told to me last week and the excuse I got that this was a new issue. So I decided to take the car to cherry hill Volvo... I got a call from them and told me that my car has two fans and the one is bad. I had them install the new fan and my car is running great. The price was VERY high so I decided to go to another shop. When I told them I was going elsewhere they said it's $79 for them to look at the car. I called them to enquire about cost of replacing the Alternator, they said bring in for a free diagnostic. I went in & they quoted me $587, then agreed to do it for $550. Later on added $25 for minor work which any other place would have done as a courtesy. I had to agree to the additional $25 since the car was already in the bay & would have had to be pushed out, don't know what they would have charged for that. Never going back. read more

As soon as I pull out the parking lot my check engine light goes on and my car is struggling to run. Before coming to this place my car ran perfectly fine and all I needed was brakes. But coincidentally as soon as I choose to take my business elsewhere something brand new goes wrong with my car. After this I take the car immediately back and talk to management they tried to tell me they didn't nothing to the engine and only did a full service check. where do I start?? This place is a complete rip off. They smile and say nice things to you while they rifle thru your wallet looking for every last dollar!! Over charge.......over charge........over charge. Shame on me. Let me be more specific. Now I'm considered a good customer. In the last 3 years I have spent over 5k repairing my cars there. They insist on charging you to LOOK at you vehicle. $........... So, they are making money no matter what. They mark up all parts over 50 bucks 2 1/2 to 3x. For example: basic fuel filter $15......They charge $43 Ok........over priced but I can live with it. How about $180 labor to install!!!!! Now to the good stuff!!!! They wanted to charge me X amount of dollars to perform a service. I thought, wait a second......this sound way too high? I called the dealership....THE DEALER QUOTED ME $100 less. The Dealer!! Then I contacted another mechanic. I explained the problem. I did not tell him my car was in QAR. He quoted me 1/2 what QAR wanted to charge me. I finally opened my mouth to complain. They called me back and matched that price. WHY DO I NEED TO DO THAT IF IM AN IMPORTANT CUSTOMER. At least hats what they tell me . I was told I would get a loaner.......Nope........ NEXT...............now this is my fault because I neglected to read my invoices. In my defense, Im a good customer!!! Why should i need to question the invoice. Well a little under 2 years ago I had my car in for service. I got the " Your serpentine belt is bad" needs to be replaced. Ok....i said! Go ahead. NOW HERES THE DEAL WITH THOSE BELTS For optimum protection, most experts recommend replacing V-belts every three to four years, or every 36,000 to 48,000 miles. A recommended replacement interval for serpentine belts would be every four or five years, or 50,000 miles. Last monthI had the same vehicle in and I got......your serpintine belt is bad...needs to be replaced. By the way I had only put an additional 17k miles on the car. I never thought to look at the invoice from 1 1/2 years ago!! f you think Im over reacting, put yourself in my shoes!!! Do you believe that is faithful service. Do you think thats being honest? Im not going to list everything however I will end it with this. Once I started READING my invoices with a magnifying glass, on each invoice in small print they charged me for "SHOP SUPPLIES" this is after all the mark ups. This is after paying close to 100 bucks an hour for labor and this is after they charge me a environmental fee. This after they charge me for PARTS CLEANER!! ARE YOU $%^& kidding me. Of course they don't elaborate on the invoice what SHOP SUPPLIES is. If I were to guess?? It would be for the toilet paper that their VALUED CUSTOMER needs to stop the bleeding. Can you tell Im a bit pissed off?? 2 more things before I close the book on this..... On the phone the manager and I listed everything I wanted done to the vehicle. Once the price sky rocketed and I complained they said they would cap the labor charge. It was only after I picked the vehicle up did I notice on the invoice that they omitted a particular service I requested. Now I know why they were eager to cap the labor. I would have never blogged this UNTIL....... I happen to be at a social event locally. I ran into a buddy. We started talking cars. One thing lead to another the person asked me where I get my car worked on. I reluctantly told them. This persons mouth hit the floor. He basically told me verbatim the same story.......guess where????? Yes.....they are nice people. They are not friends but people I trust not to gauge me. I learned my lesson the hard way. We should have known better after the first car. We took our Volvo in to these guys after hearing that they won SJ Best, and they are just next door to us. The chief complaint was that the car just shut down while driving. They replaced the fuel pump and had us on our way within a day or so - until it happened again. Took it back, they replaced it a second time free of charge, tested it, and we left...only to have the car towed back to them after being stranded on the side of the road near the Red Top Market. Afterwards they told my husband and I that it was probably something electrical that would cost more than buying a new car, so they bought it from us for $250 (after dropping more than $1,000 in repairs). We figured that the car was older (2002) and there was probably upwards of 200k miles on it by then so we let it slide and decided to give them another shot because they -did- try to fix the problem free of charge after we picked it up the first time. Just a bad car, right? My Check Engine light popped on about two weeks ago after two weeks of odd behavior. We check it and it says Cylinder 1 misfire - we do everything we can ourselves, but the car still bucked so we took it to QA. QA said it was the mass airflow sensor and that they'd have to drop a few things to get to it and replace it and quotes us $430. We need the car, we can afford the expense. Picked it up yesterday. This morning while waiting at a light, the car started bucking again. On the drive home from work, the engine was audibly stressed and loud while accelerating. Additionally, there is a brand new train-track noise coming from underneath of my vehicle now, with the nice accompaniment of the flashing Check Engine Light. This is the second car that has come back from this mechanic that is worse off than when I brought it in. Not only that, but when my husband told them that they needed to take a look at the car again because obviously it is NOT fixed, he got some attitude. I won't be taking any of my vehicles here ever again. read more

The estimate I got is more than double of actual cost. These guys quoted 3 times the price of actual parts. When I provided the option that I can buy the same part for $25 instead of what they quoted which was $100, the guys was not responding well, saying oh then there is no warranty and blah blah... because he just got busted. I just called this place to get a price on installing an Alternator on my car. Installing an alternator is a standard job. He wanted to see the car and "make sure the problem wasn't something else." I said "I know it's the alternator. I have the alternator. I just need it installed. Can you give me a price on the labor?" The guy was still trying to tell me I had to "bring the car in and have it looked at." I said "I'm trying to give you business. All I want is a price on the installation." He still gave me difficulty. If you call Pep Boys they will give you a price over the phone for this basic repair job. The guy should have said "usually the price to repair this is X but of course if something else is wrong that may change." He totally talked his way out of business. With a little studying I can replace the alternator but I don't want to. I have never had work done on my car there but when someone calls and tells you they need something basic installed don't make things difficult. Of course if there is something ELSE wrong he can easily say "buddy you said you just wanted the alternator installed. I gave you the price on that however there is X wrong with the car." He lost me before he even gave me the quote. He didn't even give himself a chance. read more

I just moved down here from central new jersey several months back and was looking for a reliable auto repair shop. The first time here, I just got an oil change and was made aware of a few recommendations on my vehicle. One of the people who worked there actually brought me into the shop and showed me exactly what needed to be done so I know he wasn't trying to get me for some unnecessary repairs. I told him I couldn't get them done at that time. Over the course of the next few months, I received letters in the mail and emails with discounts and concerns for the needed repairs. It actually seemed like genuine concern and that's rare for an auto repair shop. Today, I got work that needed to be done as there was an issue with a tire rod and some fluids that needed changing. I got those done and the car is running real smooth now. On top of the great work, one of the employees drove me back home, and picked me up when the work was done so I wasn't waiting. As with all car repair work, some is going to be pricey, but I highly recommend this place. read more

Since writing my last review I was contacted by the manager Dan. He was very eager to correct any wrongs from the past. I never voiced my problems initially so in all fairness I gave them another shot. My vehicle had some lights on the dash and I had no idea what was wrong. Dan took it in and did a very thorough investigation. He was unable to correct my problem, no fault of his bc my vehicle needed a specific scan tool that only Jaguar carried. He left me with a detailed description on what codes showed up so I had no problems communicating with my dealership. Since then Dan has personally contacted me taking a interest in what was wrong with the vehicle. He didn't charge me a dime and wouldn't take a tip! That goes a long way bout his character. I have contacted him to discuss any mechanicle problems I'm having and he gives me very accurate imput. I do not plan to have car troubles a lot but it will happen and Quality will be getting my business. Talk bout going the extra mile! This place will rip you off. I was going here for about a year and first sign was when I had to have rear drums replaced because they were "loose", I decided to take it back to Firestone since I still had a warrantee and was told that the drums were fine but they would honor the warrantee anyways. Second time was just recently I was experiencing severe misfires and they "diagnosed" the car for 100$ and told me i had bad ignition coils, and possibly a blown gasket, I replaced the coils myself and problem got worse so I took my car somewhere else and come to find out it wasn't either. It was caused by spark plugs not properly installed when they did my tune-up. I'm never going here again not will I recommend this place to anyone. read more

Do not take your car here! We had our Jeep repaired here last year for a check engine light that came on. Reluctantly, we paid over 3k for repairs. We again took our Jeep in last week for a few concerns where the car stalled. They gave us a quote of almost 4K to get it fixed. We promptly picked up our car n took it to the dealer! The dealer discovered the spark plugs that Quality Auto put in although appeared to be new were actually an after market product. Jeep was able to fix the car for only $560!! I have used Quality Auto repair for a previous repair and the results were great. Recently I began hearing a noise while driving at highway speeds and it turned out to be the front wheel bearings. While I was there they replaced the battery, drive belt, and inspected my vehicle. These were all needed as my truck is 10 years old. The pricing was fair and all the work was done neatly and properly. My truck drives like it did when it was new. Really appreciate having a great shop near by that does clean, professional repairs. The mechanics here are excellent. I really take good care of my truck and don't trust anybody with it. I typically had done all my own repairs. This shop has earned my trust with their work and I don't hesitate to bring my truck to Quality Auto Repair. I'm honestly disappointed and outraged at the level of service my daughter received from this company. All they were suppose to do was tow her vehicle from home to a local shop who was gonna look at her car for free. The tow driver convinced her to let him take it to their shop cause he assured her meinike or pepboys would charge her more. Upon getting her car we were informed she would pay 100$ just to diagnose the problem. Then the repair for a valve cover gasket and a tune up for her 2001 altima would cost her 570$. I called 4 auto shops that's would have charged 400 and below. But now she would have had to pay them 100$ to get it out their shop even if they do no work. When asked to just do a tune up so she can get the valve cover done cheaper. They responded by you do all or nothing. Worse service and fees I've ever seen. I'm appalled that people take advantage like this. read more

Service this month Sept 2016 - Actual Customer - Real Review First, I will not hesitate to refer people to this shop for repairs. This started off with a AAA Tow request when my transmission decided to die on me. I knew what the issue possibly was and other shops flat out completely declined to work/repair my trans - 2007 BMW X3 - because of the 150K miles on it - other shops quoted me an outrageous 5K for a warrantied trans swap without even offering to drop the trans pan to check for any issues. The tow driver was nice and convinced me to actually at least get the car diagnosed at the shop for a fee which would be applied as a credit if I repair in shop. They confirmed trans failure and informed me that we'd have to drop the pan and get in to the transmission to see exactly what was wrong and how much the real repair might cost. Dan, my service adviser, was always prompt in returning my calls or answering all the questions I bugged him with. He always let me know what kind of cost and what the status was of the job. Now to the point - the labor cost was a bit on the high-end but they did an awesome job and actually completed the repair slightly cheaper than what I was initially quoted after the diagnosis. Car was in and out in 2 days - I didn't use it but they told me of their shuttle service as well as Enterprise rental service where they could get you a rental for about 30 to 40 bucks. I only briefly stopped into the waiting area but it does have all the amenities like coffee, seating area, reading materials, tv, etc. The up to date ASE certificates are also posted right there at the desk for their mechanics. Summary The service I received was great - hands down. The garage was closing but I called while stuck in traffic and someone stayed so I could still get my vehicle out. Labor was a bit expensive but they got me back on the road for a far, far more reasonable price than TWO other shops who flat out lied to my face and said I needed to replace the entire transmission. I am definitely bringing my vehicles in for other services in the future. Also - just some advice for people who call mechanics rip-offs. YOU need to ask questions and get multiple quotes and see if you can find out the exact cost and problem. ASK questions - I asked Dan everything! How did my fluid look after you dropped the pan? Can you give me a better deal? Do you have a loaner? They also NEED to see the car to tell you whats wrong - thats just plain obvious. They can't just quote over the phone. They answered all my questions happily. Honestly this is a business ok? Yes, somethings might be more expensive but they warranty and stand behind their work. Thats also why I went 4 stars - the labor was just a bit too expensive in my opinion. Charlie even gave me a call today for follow-up which prompted me to write this review. read more

Dave (service advisor) called CARiD for me, for a needed part to hook up to my power steering pump and Steve (auto tech.) ran around to custom fabricators to make the part and later install it. Dave kept me informed on the progress and said I think your going to like how the truck will look and I did! Not only did the truck have more aggressive look, the oversized tires don't rub like they use to. It's great to have a shop that will do both accessories and regular maintenance.
