today my car would not start. I called triple A to get a jump or a tow. the tow driver was friendly. he tried hard, but the car would not start. since I was here visiting my kids & grandkids, I did not know where to take the car for repair. the driver suggested Quality Auto. Said he knew the guy personally and that the tow company used them to repair their trucks. Sounds trustworthy doesn't it? the driver explained that I was trying to get on the road by noon so I could get to work tomorrow (in So Cal). So Frankie got my car in by 10am and I was out by noon. Honestly they seem like good people but didn't do shit for me but still charge me after they accidentally broke the belt tensioner off the side of my block I had to tow it the rest of the way home to Seattle because they wanted to Highway Rob me on a new block that only goes for a fraction of the price+ install. They said those are Notorious for breaking off like that but how do I know if they didn't mess up and put to much pressure on it. They were willing to just push it out to the street and call it a day after there mess up that they won't own up to. They broke it and couldn't even make it right I shouldn't have even went there. Would give ten stars if we could! Owner Frankie saved us today on our drive home to southern CA from Oregon. In Redding our car suddenly showed signs of trouble and we lurched into Quality Auto Repair right off I-5. Despite being ready to close on a Saturday afternoon, when he learned of our plight (all shops closed on Sunday and we have plane tix to the east coast early Monday morning out of San Diego) Frankie quickly located the problem and part and fixed the car up with a new alternator in half the time quoted. Our family of five even had a nice cool place to wait in their attractive and comfortable waiting room. We were back on the road in no time instead of being stuck in a hotel as we feared. Oct 29 2016, I had been looking for a reputable honest auto repair shop in Redding Ca, and I found 4 shops fairly rated on Yelp, but the one that excelled was Quality Auto Repair, On late Friday I called two on the list and first they don't work on Saturdays, I asked for a quote over the phone and neither one of them were willing to do it until I took my car to their shop on Monday when they were open. So the next day I decided to call Quality Auto repair, I new they work Saturdays by checking their website, I wasn't expecting to have my car repaired the same day. I talked to Frankie, I explained to him the issue with my car, I suspected the water pump to be about ready to fail and right away he gave me the quote over the phone , within 30 minutes I took the car to his shop, at 9:00 AM to be exact and by 4;00 PM he called and said the car was ready, his price was reasonable. Well all those people who have given Frankie at Quality Auto Repair 5 stars know why I am writing this review. He is a man of his word and provides excellent repair and customer service. His entire staff was friendly and professional. He had to order a part from GM and promised stay late the following day to get me back on the road. Well he did just that and stayed until almost 8pm to finish the job. He allowed me to stay in his lot with my trailer until I was back on the road. I never yelp, but Frankie deserves the recognition for doing such amazing work and running such a great shop. Like the experience another reviewer had, we were just passing through and our vehicle, a 1993 E150 Camper Van, decided to cry all over the freeway near Dunsmuir. After discovering no radiator locally but one in Redding we towed the vehicle to QAR in the late afternoon. After staying at a nearby hotel they had us back on the road the next afternoon, changing the radiator, water pump, cleaning her out, hoses etc. With the exception of the heater core the cooling system was all new and at a very reasonable cost and for prompt service as they are quite a busy shop; we continued on our trip with barely a hitch in our giddyup...yehaw! Pleasant and cheerful they kept us apprised of the situation. Though I hope to never see them again (obviously who wants to get their car repaired while tripping through northern cal, or anywhere for that matter) if I am ever in need of repair in Redding then this is the place I would go based on this experience. read more

Still waiting for my car but I can already say AWESOME! Broke down east of Redding travelling to bay area for a funeral. AAA towed me here upon his recommendation. As the driver stated "Don't let it fool you with all of the vehicles parked around, he works a lot & gets them in & out." Got my car in a bay right away & had my diagnostic within the hour. Part is on the way & I will be back on the road in a couple hrs. I can live with that!! The guy behind the counter is pleasant & sweet to try & keep me entertained! Wow! What an amazing business. I can not be more happier with my experience on the mechanical and customer service . Updating my review to give them full stars and to clear things up a bit. We brought our car in for a check engine light and a/c issues. We got the engine light taken care of but opted out of the a/c repair because the entire thing needed to be replaced and would cost us roughly $1200. We called around and pretty much everyone gave the same quote. I called back and spoke to Lacey about the parts and asked if it's possible for them to just replace the compressor. She told me they absolutely could, but it wouldn't be warrantied because only replacing that part may not solve the problem, which is why they always suggest to replace everything so you know it'll last. She then told me that we could bring in our own parts. So I purchased a compressor kit and they replaced it and showed me a hose that was leaking badly. I opted to get it changed and they didn't charge labor because it had to come off anyways, which was very honest of them to tell me. We got our a/c fixed for a fraction of the price and we are so grateful for Frankie and his team. It's an amazing shop and you can count on them for their honesty and quality. read more
