After reading all of the 5 star reviews on QC, I requested more information through Yelp. Marty contacted me within a couple of hours and we discussed my project. I recently moved into a brand new home and I wanted a custom wall unit for my office. The wall unit consisted of shelves, cabinets, and a desk. I wanted the wall unit to be integrated into the wall and appear as one piece. I looked at other companies (garage or closet organizers) and their product offerings all appeared to be modular. After Marty looked at my office, he sketched out the wall unit after taking multiple measurements then produced a quote. The price was reasonable so we negotiated a contract and I made a down payment. We agreed to an end of January delivery and installation date. Marty delivered the wall unit well ahead of schedule on January 8. He did the installation with his helper Nic who was very polite and professional. The installation appeared to go without a hitch which is what I expected from a craftsman with close to 60 years of experience. I highly recommend Quality Craftsman for anyone seeking high quality wood work products such as cabinets, desks, or furniture. I have attached a picture of the wall unit that I now have to decorate. I love my kitchen and I've also approached him about a future project. I had a basic 1970's era condo kitchen-outdated but can't really change the footprint. I tried to revive it with refacing. It still didn't function well, but I worked around it. A leak in the wall behind the cabinets, forced an unexpected remodel. I received estimates from several contractors using stock or RTA "IKEA" kitchen cabinets. The cabinets I saw in these stores did not seem as sturdy as my existing cabinets. I couldn't customize and would have similar unusable spaces where the pre-made cabinets are put together. The contractors and pre-made cabinet stores told me custom cabinets would cost twice as much as their estimates. While looking for design ideas, I saw multiple Houzz and Reddit posts stating a local carpenter could give me custom cabinets at a much better price. I am so glad I paid attention to the posts! That's how I found Sacramento Millworks. His price for my project was comparable to the quotes I received for stock cabinets. Raymond is a carpenter and a designer. Because of his experience, he handled everything. He walked me through everything, including a trip to the granite and tile shops. I just picked colors. He was very patient. Most of contractors I've worked with recently send employees to do the work. They just pop in here and there until it's time for payment. Raymond was on site working with one helper everyday. This is NOT construction- this is an INSTALL- difference between the two.. a construction is built from the ground up. These are pre- fabricated cabinets that your company can't even install properly without damaging or breaking. Darria also told me that Jamie called her telling her that I was (crying) ik a hyperbolic way about the employee arriving 3 hours early and why did it matter if I already had workers here?? The other tech arrived on time- 9 am an hour after their employee, to fix a furnace issue. One employee, not several. That is not an excuse. When I reached out to Jamie a week ago, she texted back, oh- I was planning on reaching out??? Really.. ok We won't have all new pieces in until end of the month!! Darria, here I am crying again.. end of the month, I've been sitting with incomplete cabinets, damaged done and they want me to wait another month and expect me to pay 12k for this?? I think not. I expect them to indemnity me- the CLIENT for my loss here, in time, my 6plus k that they have in their possession already, and compensate for all this run around, time lost, unprofessional, and more.
