WEARY TRAVELER BEWARE!!!!!!! first, let me explain. I did not stay in this motel. I made a reservation on the choice hotels app upon arrival. I was told that I needed to pay a $200 cash deposit because I lived within 75 miles of this motel. I can't speak for the rest of you, but I don't walk around with a lot of cash in my pocket and I had a MasterCard credit card which could've been charged however much they wanted to charge should I have caused damaged the room or something of that nature which is why I'm going to assume they wanted the $200 cash deposit. I left the hotel and immediately called my bank to dispute the charge. This motel chain is so desperate for money that they have been fighting my dispute for four months now. I'm just dumbfounded at why you would charge somebody for a service you did not provide. I highly suggest you consider staying somewhere else. read more

This place is very suspect. people working acted shady. Says they allow pets, but when i checked in the staff basically threatened me regarding any damage caused by the pet. I assured them that wouldn't be a problem. I travel for work and am in hotels every week with my dog. He has never damaged anything or gone to the bathroom inside. Never been charged a fee for damage. We stayed at this Quality Inn for one night. Hotel charged me $30 for pet free and then $110 mystery fee for damage caused by a pet. No proof, or explanation. All of that was on top of the initial $125 for the room. They said I signed the pet waiver so tough luck. DO NOT EVER STAY HERE. read more

I was suddenly stuck in Durango (much better than being stuck in Lodi, I hear) for the night and wanted a to keep things cheap but clean. It was mid-May, so it was off-season pricing, which made this hotel downright inexpensive. My review is based on roughly $80/night for 2 queen beds. For that price it was downright charming. First and foremost, everyone working there was friendly and helpful. I had only one issue (my room's smoke detector went nuts and suddenly thought I was Smoky The Bear's worst enemy by my mere noncombusted presence,) and they responded quickly and efficiently. My room was clean. The night before, I'd stayed in a similarly priced room in a town about an hour away, and it was so skeezy that I wiped everything down with disinfectant. I have *never* done that before, but that place was scary. Same price. This one was no problem. Shower and sink hot water worked great. The modified closet had a curtain instead of a door, which was a clever solution to a limited space situation and allowed for plenty of room to hang my clothes. I found the bed and pillows to be comfortable. Plenty of towels and washcloths. All of the plugs worked. Room doors exit to the parking lot, which I prefer when I'm in a hurry. I stayed on the ground floor, so I can't remember whether or not they have an elevator. I left too early to try the continental breakfast, so I can't comment on that. Overall I got the impression that the folks who run this place are making an effort to go above and beyond while keeping prices low. If I'm back in town during the off-season again, I'll plan on staying here. read more

Unfortunately not the best place to stay in Durango. Spend the extra money to stay elsewhere. Breakfast is cereal, yogurt, coffee, OJ and oatmeal. "Hot breakfast" must be the coffee and oatmeal? Bugs everywhere in the rooms and not sure what's going on with their windows. Appears they sprayed it but never wiped it off or maybe it's bug spray. Either way weird. The room smelt so much like perfume that it gave me a headache. One good thing, the shower pressure is outstanding!! read more

Let me tell you what I think , by the way my option comes from 20 years in the business I ran a Best Western With that said the truth is this the rooms are okay the beds suck but the room has a large ref a 2 burner cook top , it even has kitchen items 2 plates, a coffee cup ( one ) it has a pot holder , dish washing cloth, a couple of pans and a skillet On the surface looks great , The cook top only one of the cook spots worked the floor very nice , but very cold , the housekeeping well I really did not have them in my almost 2 week stay . But they have some very big opinions walking by my room saids room very dirty , I admit it was a complete mess I had been traveling with 2 dogs it snowing and raining for 2 weeks the mud around here sticks on you like glue I had empty my car in my room because my car had this mud everywhere the small dogs had red mud all over them point here is housekeeping please keep your mouth to your self your opinion was not needed , if my housekeeping staff said that I would have let them go , when your there at work you keep your our mouth to your self ,, you want to think it go right ahead but say it is not needed , this business very touchy because well I'm not going to get into that , conversation around the kitchen table about what you seem at work at a hotel. i stayed here with my boyfriend for a few days. perfect place to go if you want to be harassed everyday by housekeeping and the front desk. housekeeping will leave you nasty notes about kicking you out if you don't take off your shoes before you get inside (it's winter in colorado. yes there's mud!) there's black mold throughout the entire room. there's no bed bugs but there's beetles that die all over the room that i was in. im asthmatic and got sick my entire time i stayed there. the windows were literally dripping with condensation the entire time. also apparently with housekeeping there's no "option" to have them not come to your room. we asked if they could come on just sundays but apparently that's a problem and they're still gonna come the 3 times a week, whenever they want. do not go here there's cheaper and way better options in the town of Durango. read more

I am not sure what hotel people stayed in who rated this place with 5 stars bc wherever we stayed was an absolute disaster! My husband and I and our 4 kids were driving through on our way to Fort Collins so it was a last minute booking so there wasn't a ton available outside of the quality inn. Upon pulling in the parking lot, everything in my gut told me to pull right through as the place looks more like a motel from the outside. I decided not to be picky and just suck it up as it's only one night. I walked in to the "lobby" to find an older gentleman screaming at the staff that his room was horrific, smelled rancid and was filthy. Honestly, just based off the front desk area, he probably wasn't wrong. The one gentleman working there looked either high, drunk or on something... We proceeded to check in and get in our room and to no surprise at all; it was a dump. The room was old and grimy and smelled of dirty feet. The beds are not clean at all. down comforters had no protective layer and had stains all over them. I found multiple hairs all over the sheets and upon inspecting the mattresses, I saw an ungodly amount of stains all over. I was shocked NOT to find bed bugs. Long story, long, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. I made my kids sleep in the same clothes they were in all day and wouldn't let them sit on the floor. I think what angers me the most is that this room was $180 for the night! We should not have paid more than $80 after taxes and fees. Absolute DUMP! To make matters worse, we saw the man who claimed to be the manager across the street later that night at the local pizza spot. He was at the bar and 100% drunk. He then proceeded to walk back over to the hotel to do God knows what. I highly suggest you drive right past this place and sleep in your car if you have to. read more

My husband and I have stayed at this Quality Inn for years because of the reasonable price, the yummy breakfasts, the fact they accept dogs, and the location being 5 minutes away from our daughter's home. Sadly, this may have been our last stay. When my husband made the reservations for 4 nights, he kept asking for a room with 2 queen beds because that's what we've always gotten. The person my husband talked to was totally unhelpful. She didn't seem to understand what he was asking, and we were not sure if she got it correct. When we got to Durango after driving 8 hours from Arizona, the room only had 1 king bed, and it barely fit in the room. There was maybe 10" on one side, so no side table, and the room was so small we barely had room for our luggage, let along our medium sized dog. And the desk clerk said that was all they had. It was 2 days before Christmas, so it was cold outside, in the 30s. There was ONE blanket on the bed and no other blankets in the room. I went to the front desk and asked for more blankets, and the desk clerk said he didn't think he had any extra blankets, but he would "check in the basement". What?! It's December! In Durango! Luckily he came to our room a little later and had one blanket and a short decorative thing they used to put at the bottom of the bed. Better than nothing. The worst thing however was the toilet. It wouldn't flush all the way, and kept backing up. It flushed most of the contents, but not all after 3-4 flushes, holding the handle down. So again I went to the front desk and asked for a plunger. He didn't have one. It was very obvious this toilet has had problems before and it just didn't start backing up. Consequently, we spent as little time as possible in the room and basically had to go to our daugther's home to use their bathroom! And because of Covid, no more yummy breakfasts. Not their fault, obviously. I hope that the Quality Inn can get their act together. As it stands now, we are done with them. read more

Absolutely outstanding. The breakfast served is fantastic - there's even a short-order cook that will make eggs for you. The pool and hot tubs were great and the room was clean (if small). The best part is the staff - they are some of the most helpful people, always eager to make your stay better and provide you with anything you need. The offer bike rentals and a "bar hoppers" coupon, both of which are inexpensive. Only downside was the water pressure, which was pretty poor. I would highly recommend giving this place a try, it's one of the most customer-friendly hotels I've ever stayed in. Best of all, if you check in with Yelp they offer a "welcome package" that had some bottled water, microwave popcorn and some assorted sweet snacks. They manager said we were only the second people to ever use this check-in bonus and she went and got something special for us and left it in our room while we were out. read more

This place is HORRIBLE! I'm here on business, and that's the only reason, my company put me here. They have bugs. DISGUSTING. But that's not even the worst part. When the staff gets done harassing you for "tracking mud in", there's no hot water! I ask for privacy and I come back to housekeeping in my room. I tell them no thank you don't come into my room and over the next week I'm bombarded with calls from the front seat threatening to kick me out over some bogus policy about they have to make sure my room is clean. MY COMPANY PAYS FOR ME TO LIVE HERE! LEAVE ME ALONE! This place is horrible. Do NOT, under any circumstance, book here! My husband and I were going to spend a couple days with some friends near Durango, and had reserved two nights at the Quality Inn in Durango. What a nightmare! The first morning after waking up, we were itching like crazy, and by the time we arrived home two days later, we knew we had to get checked out by the doctor. The doctors diagnoses confirmed that we'd gotten bed bugs from this motel. If I could have rated this motel lower than 1, I definitely would have! We've stayed at this hotel for years and it's definitely changed hands(major assumption) only because it's so different. But I've got to take into consideration how much Covid has changed things. Definitely gone down hill since our last stay. Walked in into the bathroom to find a dirty towel from the last unfortunate guest still hanging on the hook behind the door. Toilet didn't flush properly, sink did not drain, and the shower was adequate. Fought to keep the bedsheets on the bed all night eventually gave up and awoke to sleeping on the bare mattress. Website offers continental breakfast, no signs stating otherwise, wrong! No breakfast is offered, when the gentleman at the front desk was asked about it by my husband "No Breakfast" was his only response and then he went back to whatever it was he was doing. We will definitely find other accommodations for our next stay in Durango. read more

Amazing this pathetic place has not been shut down. I made a reservation one month ago for a one night stay for two on May 14. Mid-morning of the 14th I had eye surgery and one third of my face was covered with an eye patch and tape. The surgeon said I should stay in town, Durango, CO, in case any problems arose. I live an hour away in Farmington, NM. After my surgery, at 2:20 p.m., we tried to check in. Upon seeing my driver's license, the clerk at the front desk said I would have to pay a $200 cash deposit because I'm from Farmington, NM. She couldn't say why the motel was discriminating against people from Farmington. I then asked if I could get a refund for my "non-refundable" paid up front reservation because I didn't want to stay there after learning of the penalty applied to citizens of Farmington. She spent a minute on the computer and said she canceled my reservation and issued a refund. In retrospect, I should have asked for written confirmation. I hope whoever reads this will take their business elsewhere. read more

We have been Choice Hotel members for years and whenever I book a room I print my reservation with the total price. I have never been charged more money than what is on my reservation form. This Durango, CO Quality Inn charged us more money and when I questioned them about it they blamed it on Choice and more taxes. Yet the other Choice Hotels in CO did not charge us more. I think they are just trying to get extra money out of people. Also, they are the one Choice Hotel that did not have the courtesy of having any breakfast options, they just are not offering it (unlike other Choice Hotels). They are charging high prices and being greedy in my opinion. I recommend you book somewhere else. We will never stay here again. I think the Choice chain will be notified. read more

I can't say enough about the awesome customer service here. They let us check in an hour and a half early (basically the moment our room was ready). I mentioned in passing that I was interested in chicken fried steak, and Matt took it upon himself to call a restaurant in town to ask if they had it on the menu and then passed the info on to me. That's the type of service I'd expect from a fancy hotel with a concierge! The room was spotless. Everyone was friendly. And this was one of the least expensive spots in town. Great value. I asked for a partial refund from the hotel's management but I never heard from them. The reason for the request was due to a barking dog next to our room that started barking in the 5 am hour. I called the front desk in the 6 am hour but was sent to voicemail. I didn't leave a message the first time but called again around 6:50 am and got voicemail again and left a message describing the problem. I never got a call. Finally, around 7:30 or 8 am I walked to the desk and described the problem. The clerk couldn't explain why he missed my call (it didn't matter). My wife and wanted a good night's rest after a late night check in and to check out at 11 am. We were forced to leave much earlier. Everyone we spoke with at the front desk was kind and sorry for the problem but I shouldn't have to pay for an unpleasant and restless night that was no fault of ours. I sent an email to the hotel management but after a week and a half I haven't received a response. The room and hotel was fine, hopefully you won't have a problems that require management's participation. read more

Broke down and called #choicehotels reservations to get a room for the night. Since my first choice didn't have any rooms the reservations specialist put me at this location. We pulled in around 2am. While getting parked and set up there were a few individuals who were clearly on drugs walking up and looking at our vehicles then walking away and getting on their phones. Not wanting to have my vehicle broke in to we found another room and let the front desk as well as choice hotels know what the situation was. I was told I would have to come back after 3pm when the manager would maybe be here. What a hidden gem! From check-in to check-out, we were treated to service you would expect from a luxury hotel (thank you Jared!). Plus, there were numerous little extras that made our stay special. For example, the room had a little rubber duck at the sink. It also had a chalkboard to draw on. Everything was clean and comfy. Mixed feelings a little bit. We got this hotel on priceline and were a little dismayed to find that we got a motel. That said, everyone at the hotel was super friendly! Especially the check-in guy and the guy making breakfast in the morning. We were super impressed. The rooms were nice and we felt safe and secure. Pool and hot tub areas were decent enough. The only few problems really were that, when we got to our room the door was like...wide open. As a result of that there were bugs in the room (including a wasp in the bed). So, it must have just been kind of a weird accident. I don't know. The service was friendly though, the breakfast was great, and the price was right. read more

I had a reservation here for a pet friendly room. A lady from India called me to ask if I had a reservation for two rooms. I said no, it's for one room. She told me that she would cancel the second reservation, and would see me the next day. She canceled the only valid reservation I had. My reservation was no longer in the app. I called the hotel, and they said I had a reservation with them. and they gave me the confirmation number. The number they gave me was not valid. I had canceled it about 3 weeks before. I put this confirmation number into the app, and it showed canceled. If I can check a confirmation number to see if it's valid, then why could the hotel not do this. I had booked this at $118 several weeks before. The going rate is around $180. This was very fishy! I think they had a guest that wanted to stay over, so they looked for a way to get rid of my reservation. I was in a pickle, because you have to book several weeks before to get a lower rate, and get a pet friendly room. This was very dishonest! How could anyone be so stupid! read more

I don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel where the staff was consistently friendly and eager to help. "Are you enjoying your stay and do your have everything you need?" was the constant theme. Dogs allowed and the rooms are equipped for it, wood -ish floors instead of carpet and a doggie bed :). Breakfast provided in a special room on the 2nd floor and quite acceptable. This hotel charged me before 12 midnight. They counted me as a no show and I was there before midnight. They did not recognize me as a Diamond Member. I knew this was exterior facing, but I did not feel secure even with the security lights. People were walking in the parking lot. My room was old and outdated. The WIFI did not work at all. The heater made a very loud noise and could not sleep with it on. This was a not a good stay. The check-in and check out was the same person with no personality. The breakfast is awful. I wasn't particularly thrilled with this place. It worked out, but it could have been better. We were under the impression that it would have been closer to Purgatory Ski Resort, and ended up driving to and from the hotel a lot. The first day we were here, no one serviced my room and I had to go to the front desk to exchange towels. I checked in to the hotel on Yelp and didn't receive any sort of gift item like other yelpers had described. The room I stayed in here was super small and the shower only ran a trickle of water from the shower head. It was an alright experience. I don't know that I would ever stay in this hotel/motel again. You would think that quality inn would make some improvements in the rooms, being a large chain company and being located in a popular city with popular attractions. read more

The whole of building B as I understand from friends in same building. I left and they refused to credit my one night cancellation. Didn't answer the phone and didn't return my voice mail. Room is very clean and smells fresh. Linens and towels were nice bright white and of good quality. Front desk gentleman was very accommodating to us- he even went all the way from the front check in area all the way to our room which was way down by the pool just to help us find a safe place to park our truck and trailer. Kudos to him . We will certainly not hesitate to stay here again - we usually come through here from Texas once a year. I understand that with this COVID stuff going around that the Continential breakfast has been put on hold just wish that there would be some kind of take along breakfast bag with fruit, muffins, granola bars etc. like Best Western hotel in other areas are doing. Would be nice to see that since the pool, breakfast areas etc aren't being used that you could cut your cost of a room down just a little to offset that to.
