Nice Italian restaurant in the SC plaza mall. Pasta was quite good, service attentive, but the portions were huge. Order 1 entree to split between 2 people unless you have a big appetite! My parents love this place, so whenever we're shopping at South Coast they want to eat here. Being the good daughter that I am, I obliged though I personally feel like that it's alright compared to other Italian restaurants in the area. Usually, the service is really great here because it's a small restaurant. This time that I went it was a little off. My parents go here often, probably once or twice every other week, so they know the menu and how they like to order. When the server came and they ordered, the server's tone was very rude. I promptly let him know that we eat here often and are aware of any extra charges as well as the menu. After that the service got better. Not sure why the server acted like that to begin with. RISOTTO CAPESENTE E SCAMPI: Anyway, I usually get the seafood spaghetti or munch on the pizzas but I wanted to try something new so I got the seafood rissoto. It came out looking for like paella than risotto. The rice, in my opinion, was rather dry for a risotto. All in all, it's a good place to eat if you're in the mall and craving Italian. I've heard great things about this place and finally gave it a try! Other than being too expensive (it is in South Coast Plaza so you kinda expect it to be that way), I enjoyed my experience. My waiter was extremely attentive and helpful, constantly checking our water and bread basket. I got the smoked salmon penne with creamy tomato sauce, which was really good. It came with a fair amount of salmon chunks and had a rich tomato flavor to it. My family and I used to love this restaurant and came every time we went to South Coast. However today we ordered the seafood pasta and one bite of the mussels made us lose our appetite. They were rotten and were clearly spoiled. We tried to get our waitresses' attention for 10 minutes but were ignored every time we made eye contact. The water glass also had a lipstick mark on it, so make sure to double check your utensils and cups. We weren't offered any comp other than more mussels (that we didn't want), which is ridiculous for a normally high quality restaurant! No apologies from a manager or anything- just an offer for a scoop of ice cream by the waitress. We hope they treat other customers better when they serve rotten seafood. But since we love this restaurant normally, two stars instead of one. read more

The menu selection is huge, which sometimes it's a red flag for me because it takes a really great kitchen to be able to make so many different dishes well. But overall everything was very good, shy from great but very good. The staff here was excellent, they do an "all hands on deck" service approach, which helps to elevate the customer experience, but sometimes can be a bit confusing regarding who to ask. 4.8 stars instead of 5 because the bus person forgot our box to pack the appetizer so we could have room for the entrees that were teetering on the edge of the table, and we were waiting a while before we could start the entree's. I came here yesterday with my family and this little gem far exceeded my expectations! We ordered the calamari, seafood pasta, salami Calabrese pizza, and a pistachio dessert. First let me start by saying, it's hard to find establishments that provides refined and excellent customer service that compares to the pre-COVID era... but alas, it still exists! All jokes aside, the hostess was friendly, our waitress and waitstaff were very attentive and accommodating, to the point where our water glasses were never empty. Everyone constantly checked up on us to see if there was anything we needed even though they were extremely busy- 5 stars on service!! Now for the food- 5 stars! Calamari- very juicy and tender! These addicting pieces of calamari had light breading with a phenomenal tomato sauce with a hint of spice added. The sauce was SO good, I literally could've just eaten with by itself. Seafood pasta (off menu)- included were perfectly cooked mussels, calamari, small pieces of salmon, and two large grilled prawns. OMG- so so so good! I don't even like mussels, but I thoroughly enjoyed it in my pasta. It's so big and decently priced, it could be shared between 2-3 people easily. We had so much leftover and took it home- it tasted better the next day! Side note: I noticed the spaghetti noodles tasted a little undercooked but apparently that's common in authentic Italian food- it's still good! Salami Calabrese pizza- my fiancé had claimed this pizza to be one of the best pizza's in Orange County, and I completely agree! The dough is soft and rolled in honey- I know it sounds odd but it was dang good & addicting! The salami were provided vertically in long strips and had a little spice to it, and the cheese was out of this world! We asked what cheese was used and the waitress said mozzarella cheese, but it did not taste like standard cheese at all. I normally like my pizza crispy on the overcooked side, but this pizza blew my mind! I couldn't stop eating it. Pistachio berries dessert- I forgot the name of this dessert but it's the only one with pistachios. It wasn't dense and had too much whipped cream for my liking, but it was still good and I still finished it. You could probably skip this and opt for something else. Overall, we were beyond satisfied with our food and experience. I honestly can't believe I've spent 30+ years just walking past this restaurant without ever trying it. I came here for dinner with family, and there was a man playing some live music in the back which was nice. Everybody was friendly, but it was clear that they were understaffed because we frequently had to request certain things (e.g. a set of silverware, paper napkins, balsamic vinegar and olive oil for the bread) which were things that they normally provided for us right away. However, it was nice to see all the waiters/busboys trying to help each other out to serve the tables instead of us being left with no service. The food was good! Our table had the linguine vongole, penne con salmone, and panini rustico. The pastas were yummy but a little on the saltier side. The panini was really good, and the bread was perfectly and freshly toasted! The free bread they give at the table had a nice flavor but tasted a bit dry. Overall, I enjoyed the visit. It's not the BEST food, and there are definitely cheaper places to eat. However, the food and service are okay, and I'll probably be back when I'm craving some smoked salmon pasta. read more

The location makes it really easy to come either before, during, or after a shopping trip to South Coast Mall :-) The service is great and the food is a wonderful value; after you've eaten here once you'll be tempted to become a regular! Domenico was awesome and helped me set up the lunch for 50 employees and created a custom menu for us. With a group of 50, it is sometimes difficult for restaurants to accommodate us and get us out in under an hour and a half. My employees and I were very impressed by the fact that all of our food came out fast! The food was fresh and delicious! We all had individual appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We were finished a little over an hour which is rare! This restaurant does get busy but all of us felt very taken care of. We will definitely be returning! read more

Our server was so inattentive that the hostess tried to assign a back-waiter to our table - yet the server had no problem showing up with a smile to present the bill. We always tip, but it really took a lot of nerve for the waiter to ask "how we enjoyed everything," when he knew very well that he had utterly failed to provide anything approaching adequate service. Came here with my Epicurious group..there were 9 of us, for a cooking demonstration. We were entertained by Chef Domenico and his staff with singing and music during the entire evening! We even sang along and everyone said they had a wonderful evening and would come back! This was my 2nd time coming to a cooking demo. The price is reasonable and included 4 courses and bottomless wine (both white and red) from Italy. Chef Domenico asks 2 people to assist and demonstrate each course, and gives helpful hints about preparing each dish. We also received the recipes to take home. We started with Grilled Eggplant rolled with Ricotta cheese in a marinara sauce. The portion is a bit on the small side, but it was delicious and full of flavor. We then had Pollo Piccata. It was so tender and had just the right about of lemon. It was served with a side of rigatoni pasta with creamy cheese. The pasta was perfect Al dente and rich with cream. We then had a demonstration on how to make tiramisu. Made with lady fingers, mascarpone cheese and espresso coffee...it was excellent and I could eat this every day! The restaurant is clean and spacious. My only complaint is that it's abit loud and some had a difficult time hearing during the demo. There were over 30 in attendance and the last time I attended there were only about a dozen. I like smaller groups better. Those talking during the demonstration should be told, "please, no talking". Overall, we all had a great night, and we will all be back! read more

This place is amazing. My husband and my in-laws were in town to see Wicked at the Sergerstrom so we decided to get dinner and drinks before the show. My only complaint was that I couldn't order a taste of everything. The menu is great with a bunch of things I wanted to try. Our waitress Boubou was probably the highlight overall, I wanted to take her with us to the show. Her suggestions were perfect and the whole table loved every single thing we ordered. We didn't catch everyone's names, but the staff was kind and charismatic. I can't remeber the last time I went to a restaurant with live music, the performer was great and set a great mood for dinner. Quattro is the first restaurant that has shown me that impeccable cuisine is only the beginning of fine dining. Domenico - the man, the myth, the legend, the Quattro-Commander-in-Chief - makes the movies seem underwhelming. Everyone knows him - and he knows everyone. On Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays, Domenico hosts and performs live, and you'll swear Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra somehow rose from the dead to personally serenade you. He's that good. Before you know it, Domenico and his amazing coterie will dazzle with the perfect culinary recommendation (always something new). Every meal I've had at Quattro has been, in some way, curated for me off-menu. At the end of the day, I would just like to thank Domenico and everyone else at Quattro. The food is only the beginning. Arugula salad was little dry but they give you more than enough to share among four people. Cajun fettuccine was just ok.. noodle wasn't cooked enough. Maybe original one might be better.
