I've been fortunate to travel extensively and enjoy some truly memorable meals around the world, so it takes a lot to impress me. Terrace by Mix Mix did exactly that. It's a foodie's paradise tucked right into the heart of Orange County, with a menu that seamlessly blends French, Italian, and modern Filipino influences into something uniquely its own. The shrimp lumpia was incredibly fresh and refreshing, while the pork cheek adobo absolutely melted in my mouth, rich with a subtle briny depth and finished with crispy shallots and delicate cilantro flowers that tied every bite together. Every plate was thoughtful, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor without trying too hard. The service was equally outstanding - thank you, Amanda! We checked out the special spring omakase menu. They limited seating indoors and I was bummed that there were no booth seats left as they had sat a couple on a 4 top yet there was 3 of us. Service wise our server was patient with my daughter as she couldn't decide on what to order since she didn't want the fixed menu. For the food I enjoyed variety of offerings and it was interesting to see how the chef interpreted what he bought as seasonal items from the farmers market. This place has such a cute outdoor patio seating area. Love the plant decor. Went around 4 for an early dinner and it wasn't busy. Was seated right away and service was great. The albacore tostado was a perfect start, light and refreshing with a slight kick. The wagyu cheese burger was super juicy and is definitely one of the better burgers I've ever had. And the sticky toffee pudding was pretty good as well, not super sweet, the ice cream helped balance it out. First time trying Terrace by Mix Mix. I was at the Annual Spring Garden show enjoying all the beautiful plants and doing my plant shopping when I spotted this cute restaurant by the bridge. This restaurant was eye catching and has such a beautiful patio so I knew I had to stop by after my plant haul. I'm glad I did. Everything was excellent. From the customer service we received to all the course options and special menu to the ambiance. I was highly impressed. Thank you to Kenny for being so patient with us. It was our first time, so my Mom and I had lots of questions and a few requests. He did a great job explaining everything and providing the best service. Also big thank you to Abi for her excellent customer service as well. We were back in CA the last day of OC Resto Week on 3/14 and I was delighted to see a $35 dinner menu at Terrace by Mix Mix. Chef Ross delivered an incredible OC Restaurant Week 3 course dinner for $35 each. We started with the Goat Cheese Toast -- creamy, tangy, balanced -- and the Shrimp Lumpia, which were crisp, light, and paired with a roasted lime aioli. For mains, the Filipino Brunch was the standout: tender pork cheek adobo, garlic rice, sweet longanisa, fried egg and chimichurri that elevated this filipino classic. The Oven‑Steamed Mussels "Sinigang" were authentic -- plump mussels in a tamarind broth with tomato, garlic, steamed with a bread lid which was pretty innovative. Sorry, I thought I took a picture of this dish without the bread lid. Dessert sealed the night: the warm Sticky Toffee Pudding was rich, comforting, and crave-worthy while the Coconut Panna Cotta with tropical fruit and ube ice cream was refreshing and vibrant. We recently visited Terrace and had high expectations partly due to the reviews and secondly, I was very curious on how they would execute the filipino dishes. We ordered the filipino brunch which had a little bit of everything (adobo, garlic rice, longanisa, fried egg, chicharon) the wagyu burger and the pizza with the hot honey and longanisa. I think they did a great job on the dishes. My one feedback was that the pizza crust was very soggy, despite other photos looking differently. I had a great experience here during OC Restaurant Week. Prior to coming, I didn't know their menu has some Asian influence, which was a nice surprise. I ordered the steamed mussels sinigang, green salad, and sticky toffee pudding off the Restaurant Week menu. The mussels were delicious, especially in sinigang style! It's good when you dip the bread into the sauce. The salad was good and filling. Lastly, the sticky toffee pudding dessert was the perfect way to end with! Came here for their Garden Show Prixe Fixe Menu. No table was available but told to come back at 12:30 and the table was ready by then. Ordered first the rose which I wouldn't recommend. Wait staff took my order of shrimp eggroll, Filipino brunch and ube ice cream. Brought my rose and took the order from the next table for 4. While I was waiting, I was reviewing the garden show here in Yelp. I waited and waited. Then the table of 4 started getting their appetizers before me. Waited again and the waiter said he was going to check. My eggroll came hot but was greasy. Didn't care for the aioli with a hint of curry. Of course, the next table started getting their entrees. My Filipino brunch consisted of adobo pork cheeks, longanisa, fried egg and garlic fried rice. I cut into the egg and the yolk melted on the rice. I took a bite of the tender pork cheeks and didn't like the seasoning. There was an aftertaste. Took a bite of the longanisa and it was better, not too sweet. So I was disappointed with the adobo. Then came the wait staff and told me that they run out of the ube ice cream and had to order sorbet instead. I was excited to eat here but felt let down. Also, their water carafes had water spots. I guess it means that they've gone through the dishwasher. I would try them again but probably not order the Filipino inspired dishes. read more

The place greets you with their clean open kitchen with display of the well-oiled staff's working in concert: one sous chef grilling, others chopping and main chef making something delicious while the server sits you without you having to wait unlike any other pompous restaurants! It's a place where no nonsense for customers only philosophy is truly practiced in its maximum. The waiters are all extremely well trained and smart with their crafts. They know how to treat their customers with efficient delivery of their best manners in providing the best and most importantly common sense approach: they won't make you wait unnecessarily, gives you choices to sit anywhere open, no bull in telling you what is best that day, and serve you immediately! Came here for a birthday dinner celebration. Servers were very kind and accommodating, as well as taking the time to explain to us their menu as well as the Filipino/European influence from the chef's background. Outside terrace area is very nice and has a good ambiance. We ordered a margarita pizza, shrimp lumpia, and the shrimp alla vodka. Margarita Pizza (3.5/5): This was a solid dish, kind of difficult to mess up since it's very simple. We liked the thin airy crust, and it was very cheesy. Though a lot of the cheese kept sliding off the pizza and made it a bit difficult to eat. Good but not anything mind blowing personally. Shrimp Lumpia (4/5): I really liked the crunchiness and thinness of this lumpia. The shrimp filling was also pretty delicious and the sauce that it came with paired well with the flavors. I do wish we got more of the sauce since it's a very thin spread under the lumpia. Shrimp Alla Vodka (3/5): It tasted more tomato heavy, not as creamy as other vodka sauces I've had. Seasoning was alright, didn't love the taste of this pasta but the shrimp was cooked very well and was supple. Also the pasta was a tad bit undercooked so it was a little hard. They gave us a free dessert for my friends birthday which was very kind! We ordered the sticky toffee pudding and it came out with a lit candle that she got to blow out. This was yummy though keep in mind that the toffee pudding is more akin to a cake than it is a pudding. The cake texture was a little dry though we did like the toffee flavoring in it and the ice cream scoop on top. They have really made the outside terrace an attractive space. Even on a rainy night it was comfortable for all. Our waiter was excellent. Having tried chefs Ross Pangilinan's and Nicholas Weber's 2 other restaurants, Populaire (also in South Coast Plaza) and Verdant (at OCMA), I was due to try Terrace by Mix Mix in South Coast Plaza just across the Bridge of Gardens. The restaurant has a small indoor dining area and a larger pretty outdoor terrace. The menu is eclectic, with several Filipino selections reflecting chef Ross' heritage. I came for lunch because I was particularly interested in their "Weekday Express Prix Fixe Lunch" menu, offered 11am-3pm M-F, 3 courses for $32. There are multiple choices for the starter and main, while dessert is either ice cream or sorbet. I started with the albacore tostada, poke-like tuna and condiments atop a crispy tortilla. A tasty but small portion. My main choice was the Filipino Brunch: pork adobo, longanisa sausage and a fried egg over garlic fried rice, topped with crispy shallots. Very flavourful. I added an epi baguette to my prix fixe order and it was very good, soft almost like a Parker House roll, not with a crispy crust like a traditionally-shaped baguette. I chose the sorbet for my dessert, and got one scoop each of mango and yuzu. The yuzu was not as tart as expected, and the mango tasted more like cantaloupe. Overall a pleasant lunch with good value. They offer a 4-course prix fixe menu without time or day restrictions that I'd like to try. I'm a big eater and I was compelled to down a few xiao long bao at Paradise Dynasty after this weekday lunch. read more

I came here with a group of friends with a lot to celebrate. Our birthdays are all lumped together so rather than celebrate 3x we always meet up in the middle to celebrate the magic of us. The restaurant itself is a little tricky to find on the third floor of a shopping mall, but thankfully my friends beat me here and messaged me where to go. It felt a little like a hidden rooftop, and had welcoming vibes. I skipped lunch so was absolutely starving. We probably over ordered but there were a few different things we all wanted to try. Just a heads up that it's more of a tapas-style (small plates to share) concept, which was perfect for our little group outing. I'm a vegetarian, so shout out to Kenny T. For making sure I saw everything available that was either already vegetarian, or could be made to be. I had the Roasted Brussels Sprouts, the Green Salad, the Spicy Noodles, and the Panna Cotta. Everything was beyond delicious, and since my eyes were a smidge bigger than my stomach I had leftovers for the next day. Service was fast and friendly, and it felt like our server was part of the group. Kenny was attentive and let us stay and chat without feeling rushed. He even suggested another spot for our group photo that had a better background. The touch lamp even changed brightness to maximize both our experience and our Yelp photos. Absolutely no notes. Well just one: this place needs MORE traffic. As someone who loves a good Asian fusion spot, Terrace by Mix Mix came to my attention via the algorithm on socials. A few of my friends have also visited and given pretty rave reviews. So I had to try it for myself. Took my church friends here for my birthday dinner this year on a Sunday night. To my surprise, the place was empty, so we had the whole Terrace to ourselves. But it shouldn't have been! It's such a cute outdoor space! They such an amazing selection of Italian food with Filipino twists. Hot Honey Pizza with LONGANISA?! Mussel Sinigang?! Bone Marrow Pizza?? I couldn't ask for a more exquisite menu. Our server was very patient with my large party and our questions. Food came out decently quick despite being a large party. It seemed like it was just the chef himself working back there when we left the restaurant. Honestly, truly hats off to the chef. I went on Saturday and was surprised that it wasn't very busy. We sat outside and had a cute view of the bridge. We ordered the lumpia which were amazing. I also loved the garlic noodles. They had so much flavor. We ordered a salad and added shrimp and that was that ok. The thing I really didn't like was the tostada. First time dined here during the Spring Garden show. Both my husband and I chose their 3 course Garden Show Menu. I had albacore tostada, pepperoni pizza, and sorbet. The garden salad and wagyu cheeseburger were all good. There were so many dishes to choose from the main course but I was in mood for some pizza. I asked the server what kind of pizza they serve and he said it's Neapolitan style pizza. However, the pizza I got was not even close to what I was expecting. Super cute spot in south coast plaza. I came during a slower time and I was basically one of the only tables in there besides one other family. My server was Kenny, he was amazing! He brought me multiple wine samples and made sure I got a wine I loved. I ended up getting the Sangiovese for my first and then switching to an Alberino for my second one. They had a very nice patio with heaters and multi course lunch deals that are offered all throughout M-F. I ended up going with the lunch deal which was $35 (I'm pretty sure) for 3 courses. For my first course I got a goat cheese toast with grapes and pistachios that was amazing, then I got the miso seabass with soba noodle salad, and finish with the 3rd course of gelato which was vanilla and ube gelato. read more

Horrible experience. We came for Mother's Day brunch and immediately regretted it after waiting nearly 2 hours just to receive our appetizers. The entire meal lasted over 3.5 hours, which is completely unacceptable, especially considering the restaurant didn't even seem that crowded. What made it even more frustrating was that this was a fixed menu, so you'd think the kitchen would have an easier time managing orders. Unfortunately, that clearly wasn't the case. Our second course arrived about 40 minutes after the appetizers, and the food came out cold. To make matters worse, my dish looked completely different from what other tables had received. It honestly felt like they either ran out of ingredients or the order was completely messed up. Meanwhile, two tables seated well after us had already finished their meals before we even got ours. I really wanted to like this place because the presentation and concept looked promising, but first impressions matter. The food itself was average at best. The shrimp lumpia was just okay. The lime aioli didn't have any taste and just made the lumpia soggy. The chicharron tasted like it came straight out of a bag from the gas station, despite the fancy garnish, and the vodka shrimp I ordered looked nothing like the beautifully plated version served to another table -- smaller shrimp, different presentation, and clearly not the same dish. Desserts tasted pre-made and below average, and they were brought out almost immediately after our entrées hit the table, making the pacing of the meal feel rushed and disorganized after hours of waiting. Our server was quick to get us waters & drink orders. I ordered the Chilean Sea bass over a bed of crispy rice salad with a side of garlic fried rice. The crispy rice salad had a unique delicious taste alongside the obvious texture. The sea bass was perfectly seared and seasoned, it paired well with the garlic fried rice and my rośe. Wow what a wonderful experience dining with Terrace by Mix Mix. I inquired to celebrate my birthday with my family here and was immediately seated upon arrival. Our party was brought outside into the patio area which was so lovely and decorated with lots of greenery. This made the ambiance so enchanting and special. My entire party opted to try to 4 course prix fixe menu. With this option, you select one course from the 'snack' menu, second from the 'salad or small plates', third from pizza, pasta, or main course, and of course a dessert. Everyone got to try and sample each others plates but these are my notable items from dinner: Albacore tostada 9/10 This was such a great starter that bursted with flavor and umami. There was a generous cut of albacore to top the tostada and it was so fresh. My only gripe was the piece of albacore was one whole piece and I almost wish it was one piece cut into two so it could make taking small bites a bit easier Shrimp lumpia 10/10 3 pieces of lumpia in the prix fixe? Say less! I could not get enough of the jalapeño lime aioli they paired the lumpia with. It paired so nicely and elevated the juicy shrimp. Would highly recommend this one! Pork cheek adobo 8/10 The garlic fried rice was lovely with the tender pork pieces. Everything fell apart in your mouth as you took each bite. I'm not sure if I could finish an entire plate on my own Oven steamed mussels 'sinigang' 10/10 This was my first time trying sinigang, even if it was just an inspiration. If you like tart, bright, and zinging flavor, this is the dish for you. Mussels were cooked to perfection and I could not get enough of how delicious the broth was! It came with a bread lid which allowed me to keep dipping into the broth and if only I could have another loaf of bread, I would've finished the entire bowl of broth! We ran into an issue where one of my family members was not able to get her mussels tonight due to quality of the seafood but we were accommodated well. Luckily we had plenty of mussels to share around the table so we all got to try one or two. Hangar steak 9/10 I love my steak medium rare and this was cooked to my liking just great. I thoroughly enjoyed the drizzle of chimicurri on top of the steak and actually prefer that over the mushroom peppercorn sauce. You are able to pick one side with any main course dish and I opted for the whipped potato's, also 10/10! This was a great way to finish off savory dishes for the night. Coconut panna cotta 9/10 What a delicate dessert that isn't too filling but hits the sweet tooth mark! Compared to their sticky toffee pudding, this was far less sweet and almost refreshing. I got the bone marrow pizza and the albacore tostada, and both were delicious and the portions were definitely enough for 2. The bone marrow pizza is indulgent in the best way possible. It has a crispy, thin crust with a generous layer of rich, buttery marrow and caramelized onions. The albacore tostada was light, fresh, and beautifully layered -- sashimi-grade fish with the sriracha aioli and avocado, and crunch from the base. Clean flavors with thoughtful texture -- a perfect contrast to the pizza. The space itself is open-air and relaxing, with a casual yet polished vibe. Well, well, well, we just had a SPECTACULAR dinner at Terrace by Mix Mix. S P E C T A C U L A R !!! We had the Pre-Fixe Menu inspired by "Filipino Food Month". (Check it out on their website.) Three main courses, followed by a dessert course. Portions were not small, so go there with an appetite. One of most flavorful dinners we have EVER had! Each course was beautifully presented. Something we appreciate because of our love of art and design. By the time it was ready for dessert, we were stuffed, but, when the dessert arrived, it was impossible to not eat it. Beautiful and awesomely flavorful. It's my understanding that this pre-fixe menu will be available through the end of April. I'm looking forward to having this same meal before the end of the month. I have been here multiple times and every time was a pleasant experience. Reservations were seamless through Yelp. Food wise, this review is mainly for their Mamma Mia menu going on this week. Portion was great and flavors were well-rounded. I thought the crudo could use a little more citrus and the presentation overall could be improved. We kindly asked to switch the dessert course for their coconut panna cotta, and the staff happily accommodated us. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and it was a great start to our Mamma Mia evening. read more

We decided to try Terrace by Mix Mix before a show at OC Performance Art Center. The Dine OC menu offered many options. Everything was wonderful. Friendly staff, shady & cool outdoor seating and tasty food. Miso seabass was fresh and tasty. The pork cheek adobo in Filipino Brunch was moist and easily separated by a fork. The sweet longanisa sausage was cooked the way I like it, crunchy outside and moist inside. The dessert was a great way to end this wonderful lunch. We will definitely come back again read more

Always had a good experience here! My wife and I love the albacore tostada and have to get that every time. The terrace, of course, is amazing and offers great ambiance. The interior is nice and cozy and you get a view of the open kitchen. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Love coming here when taking a stroll through South coast Plaza. read more
