We didn't even make it inside the restaurant! The hostess had zero customer service or manners she was beyond rude. While speaking to the manager and reaching common ground the hostess came and basically shushed the manager and said she got it. The manager then said he would get us a table. Keep in mind I had called previously to make sure they were going to be able to accommodate us (party of 7 including baby in stroller) they said yes that it would just have to be a table outside we said that worked. Once we got there we checked in they said we are cleaning the table should be five minutes we said ok not a problem. They began sitting about 5 party's that had gotten there after us and it was well past the five minutes. The same hostess came and told us that the restaurant was under staffed and that it would be another 20 min. We then restated what they told us that the table was ready and available just needed to be cleaned and she said well this is what we have and we as a restaurant are not equipped for a babe stroller inside. We than told her we had previously called before coming and they assured us and when we arrived we showed them the stroller and they said it wouldn't be a problem. She then proceeded to say well I'm telling you now. That is when we decided to leave she had now manners she talked to all customers even the manager with attitude and disrespect. Came for lunch, the staff was attentive and friendly the outdoor setting was cute and inviting but the food was not worth ordering or a second visit. The complementary bread was slightly wet on the bottom, the salad I ordered was made with shredded iceberg lettuce and basic dressing ($21) and our seafood pasta was fishy and taste like generic spaghetti. The food at Quattro is always amazing however we were seated near the front reception desk where the receptionist gossiped with a customer for 20 minutes and I had to listen to just when my entrée was served. Very disappointing to have to endure that, to his credit, the manager did finally come over and tell the customer to move on- time to go! read more

I have been coming to Quattro for years- it has become a tradition! You cannot go to South Coast Plaza without ending your day of shopping with a cocktail (my favorite is the espresso martini) and delicious meal at Quattro. Dominico is so wonderful and kind and it is always such a treat when we get to hear him sing! We recently attended the cooking class event here and it was like no other! First things first. Excellent friend service and wait staff. Thanks The food however left a lot to be desired. My "grilled" Club Panini came out of the kitchen cold and flabby. The porchetta seemed like overcooked bacon. Not a fan of cold panini. Kitchen wasn't even that busy during our time there. Our fusili pasta was decent. I am an image consultant and often bring clients to eat at Quattro Caffé while shopping at South Coast Plaza. Their veggie soup is a MUST have as it's freshly made every day and is beyond delicious. I have some dietary issues, and Domenico and the staff always find a way to make me something I can eat. They always greet you with a warmth and inviting manner, as if you are entering their home for a great meal. I've even brought my networking group here 2 times to experience their Italian delicacies. From fresh, oven roasted pizzas to their delicate pastas and array of salads, this place does not disappoint! Sit at the bar and meet amazing people or outside on their secluded patio, or even inside in the evening listening to live music. Service was really bad, I'm mean horrible. The waitstaff was so unfriendly and had zero charisma. Basically tossed the menu on my table and they way they spoke to me was very rude and harsh. Dining is out back on their patio, but social distancing set-up is very poor and all four sides of the wall are covered with plastic tarp (no open air except the doorway). This review is not so much for the food and service, but rather a response to an incident that happened here on January 22. I will say that upper management has been professional, and that Carmen is an incredibly helpful and kind person. I was physically attacked and verbally assaulted by one of the patrons at Quattro Cafe. I barely know this woman to begin with, but I understand it is not the restaurant's fault directly. However, I did find it disturbing that the manager on duty that night--Domenico--did absolutely nothing to de-escalate the situation or handle the assault in a professional manner. He stood by watching and didn't bother calling security. I called the restaurant a couple days later to attain security footage of the incident. I spoke to Carmen and she was wonderful and very understanding of the situation. She informed me that the cameras have unfortunately overwritten the footage. I do want to give my gratitude to Carmen for handling this matter in a way that was significantly more appropriate than that of Domenico. Clearly he lacks management skill and is probably better suited for a different role at Quattro. read more

My friend and I stopped here for lunch yesterday, I must say it's now one of my faves restaurant in South Coast. Even during Covid, they had such a cute set up in the back of the restaurant and completely outside. It's under lots of shade and trees, kinda reminds me your in a foreign country. Good quality food. Bruschetta- fresh and tasty Kids Penne Pasta was extremely delicious and well made, just a little Too buttery. Fish of the day - Halibut was a little dry but overall tasty Soup - no cream so I liked it, needed a little More salt for our taste. Lot of veggies grind together and very healthy. We went here based on someone's recommendation and we loved it. Great wine selection, the bread served at the table is freshly baked. If you like cioppino ask for it, it is not on the menu, however it is available on request. You will have a large bowl of the freshest variety of seafood, the grilled lobster tail that is placed on top gives a new dimension of flavor and texture to the entire dish. The broth is one of the best I have ever had for a cioppino. Staff is friendly and attentive. A must go while shopping at South Coast Plaza. read more

Used a Go City Pass voucher and received a free appetizer. I also ordered food and wine in addition to the free appetizer. The food was AMAZING and Quattro Cafe, was a wonderful and inexpensive way to experience fine dinning and fresh food. Not bad, not bad. Came here with a friend for lunch AFTER trying on clothes and we were hungry! It was pretty busy but we got sat right away. Nice host staff sat us and took my newly acquired suit to hang up somewhere. She also have us hooks so our purses could dangle from the table. I always like that. For apps, we ordered the Funghi con Parmigiano, sauteed shitake & portobello mushrooms in a light yet flavorful white wine sauce. Friend ordered the Spaghetti con Pomodoro e Basilico, fresh tomato sauce, basil with a dash of mascarpone cheese, and I took the Penne ai Carciofi, marinated artichokes, sundried tomatoes, served in a white wine and garlic sauce. My entree was satisfactory. The penne was the right doneness but to me the sauce didn't have as much flavor as the mushrooms did. My friend loved her dish. While we ate, this woman carted around this torture device called a dessert tray. I would come here again just for a latte and some tiramisu! Our service was good. The prices were right in line with being across from the Prada store. If Ghidotti's is my standard for an excellent Italian meal and Francelli's is at the opposite end, Quattro Caffe is right in the pricey middle. read more

Just an average meal. Service is great though! I ordered the pasta and they were able to customize it to my liking. I had fettuccini with pesto, $21. The pasta was cooked al dente, the way it should be. But the overall taste was a little bland and the parmesan cheese they sprinkled on top also had no taste and did nothing to enhance the dish. For the price point of their dishes, I don't think I'll be coming back. Too bad because this place is so convenient in the mall, seems popular, and is always busy. read more

Over priced, lack of service, and poorly executed dishes for an inside South Coast Mall cafe. Being the second time I've been here when I'm shopping, this place always looks nice and convenient. As both visit were with different family members, in short I have to say, go elsewhere. This, like the last visit years ago, was a disappointment in their main dish and that ended up eating somewhere else to make up for my uneaten meal. 1st a star goes to the bread and salad, since they taste good. But their dishes are not edible nor worth the price. Soggy and cold Margarita Pizza this time and last time was a falling apart and watered entrapped raviolis. As you can guess...I ate a third and trashed the rest. The food has potential, but just executed poorly. Our servers are always nice (2nd star), but the staff as a whole are slow. The hostess was very slow and does not like her job. I know the food industry well so just get another person...that position is easy to fill. My suggestion is eat their bread and a salad while you take a beak. Or just go to Nordstrom Cafe or get a sandwich from Starbucks or Lawrys. You'll be satisfied, while your time and money won't be wasted. read more

Really...? I cannot understand the high rating this place has. The food is mediocre at best and severely overpriced. I ordered the three cheese ravioli. It tasted fine, but the dough was way too thin and had cheese falling out after a tap of the fork. I also got only 6 small pieces what ended up being about $3 a piece. Huge markup for something not really done well. My dining partner on the other hand ordered a terrible "veal" dish. I say "veal" because what we got was a tough, dry, pounded flat white piece of meat that didn't taste like any veal either of us had ever had. To top it off the asparagus that came with it was too crunchy to go with the mashed potatoes. Anyway, the service was pretty good, but the food was pretty bad. read more

The champagne selection is excellent, offering by the glass or half bottles. I always have to order the Tattinger, duh! The bartenders are super friendly too. I don't think I have been to a more uncomfortable, terrible restaurant than Quattro Caffe. The service was horrible -- the noise and chaos is almost as bad as Grand Central (it was a Sat. for lunch)...they sat us in the back of the restaurant in a different area than the main part of the restaurant where it was cold (it is winter now) and the worst part was that our server was yelling across the room to ask her customers if they wanted bread or water etc. I have seen other servers that have more tables to serve and yet keep their composure (or at least don't yell at the customers) and are Professional. Our server was so unprofessional it made us I'm uncomfortable telling us how demanding the other customers were and that we were the nicest people there (we were too shocked to say anything and just wanted to leave) and I am thinking to myself -- she clearly does not see how she treats them/us. I asked her a few questions and she didn't understand what I was asking (she was not actually even listening) so she answered with an are you an idiot tone. I almost got up and left then and now I regret not having done so. I asked her what the most popular items were and she said the lasagna and chopped salad. The lasagna had no flavor and tasted worse than school cafeteria food. The chopped salad looked like it had been prepared and sat half a day before they served it. It was wilted and when I bit down on a mushroom it was rotten -- beyond disgusting. Even my drink (a liquor special) was terrible. It was room temp and the strawberries in it that were supposed to be decorative looked like they had been mashed up so it really did not look nice. I wish I could say there was one nice thing about this place but I cannot. It is shocking to pay over $100 for two and know that ANY fast food would have been better than place. There was something really gross about Quattro Caffe and I would not eat there if it was free. read more

I come to Quattro Cafe to eat lunch every time I shop at South Coast Plaza. Not only is their food amazing also their staff is very friendly and kind at all times. During the return to the mall after COVID they are operating above and beyond safety requirements with masks and social distancing required at ALL times except when you are eating you're meal of course. Very clean and safe environment and I am very happy to be a returning customer and support this business with my continued patronage. With a wide selection of food and drinks to choose from at South Coast Plaza I know I will always be treated the best at Quattro Cafe.
