Quattro Cafe is a must if you're visiting South Coast Plaza! The food is incredible, truly brings the taste of Italy to California. You can really taste the quality of the food which is hard to come by these days. I attended my first cooking demonstration with Domenico the other day and had THE BEST time. Domenico is such a kind and fun person who cares about every single one of his customers. I volunteered to cook with him at the cooking demonstration and had a blast. He brings so much energy with his wonderful singing & talented cooking. All the workers are properly trained to deliver quality. Stopped by for lunch with a friend. This place looked nice so we thought we'd try it. The bread was pretty good. I ordered the Margarita Pizza and she ordered the Chicken chopped salad. The salad was pretty good and flavorful. Everything was chopped to little bite-size pieces which was convenient. The Margarita pizza however, was super greasy and tasted like frozen cheap pizza. Highly disappointed with the pizza here! Service was ok. The tables were a bit cramped and small. We had to shuffle things around constantly. Overall, not worth returning to. Food and service was average. Food was pricey. If you want authentic Italian, I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

This Italian place is located inside of south coast plaza, so it's great to come here to eat food after a long day of shopping. Me and my friends decided to come here for some dessert and drinks. Service here is really friendly, the guy was very nice, so no complaints there. I got the panna cotta and OMG was it amazing! It kind of tasted like half flan and half creme brûlée. The texture was so soft and the caramel sauce went so well with it. I would definitely come back just to get this dessert again. The strawberries on the side were really sweet as well, and I normally don't like strawberries to begin with. My friend got the chocolate lava cake and she said it was super rich. My other friends got the calamari and they surprisingly thought it was delicious. I will definitely be back to try their entrees, so for now I'm just giving this place a 5 star for good service and some bombass panna cotta! read more

Went here for lunch today w/some co-workers to check out the OCRW menu. It was actually our second choice as Traditions didn't have any openings til 1:30 but I figured Quattro would be a good substitute. :-) We were a little surprised when we got the OCRW menu cuz (to our dismay!) it was totally different from the menu that was listed online. We asked our server why that was and she explained that the website had made a mistake and listed the dinner menu as lunch. Hmm... seemed a little like a bait and swtich as the dinner options were considerably more delicious sounding. She did say we could order the dinner menu but it was for the more expensive dinner price. We opted to stick with the lunch menu even though it wasn't the menu we had anticipated, and the reason we came. :-\ All three of us ordered the same first course.. the mussels. They came in a wonderful broth and appeared to be well cooked, until I bit into one and bit into something crunchy. I thought it was sand but it turned out to be a tiny baby crab. I've never had that happen and not really sure I can fault the restaurant since they mussels were closed when they bought them (I assume) and it really wasn't their fault that the last meal the mussell had , or rather *attempted* to have, was a baby crab. lol My second course was the white lasagna which was VERY good. I especially liked the tomato sauce it came with as an extra thought around the perimiter. It was also quite a large portion for a prix-fixe menu. For dessert I had the crepes suzette which were basically two teeny weeny bite size crepes. I guess this is where they made up for the large portion of the lasagna! ;-) All in all for $20 lunch I can't complain -- just wish that 1) my mussell hadn't decided to eat just before being cooked and 2) the menu had matched what was orginally on the website. I understand mistakes happen but it's just a bummer when you go somewhere in hopes of one thing and end up with another. read more

After having enjoyed some hole in the wall Italian joints the past few weeks, I knew that Quattro Caffe needed to wow me for me to consider a fancy shmancy type of place over the mom n pop restaurant setting. What better way to sample the fancy shmancy place during OC Restaurant Week? A group of 5 of us came for their $20 lunch special which comes with an appetizer, entree and dessert. Because there were so many of us, I was able to try quite a few of their selections (which doesn't seem to appear on their normal menu). Appetizer - Salad - very very fruity... nothing too special, just some greens with some fresh fruit on it (2/5) - Bruschetta - not the typical kind of bruschetta, especially since one of them are drizzled with truffle oil. it's a little on the small side but with the bread basket there as well, you forget about how petite it is (3.5/5) Entree - Portabello mushrooms - three small mushrooms stuffed with something, definitely pass up if you are looking to get a bit more full (2/5) - Lasagna - very good, non traditional lasagna without beef but chicken. It would have been a 4/5 if they had served it hot but it came out luke warm unfortunately (3/5) Dessert - Lemon cake - didn't get to try but... - Gelato - I would definitely get this over the cake; it's a more interesting dessert, especially the crunch in some kind of toast that it came with Service seemed a bit choppy that day but it appeared to be peak lunch hours at that time. For 5 people, we each dropped about $28 for tax and tip as well. Not bad... looking at the other menu items, everything seemed to cost a lot more than it is worth. Quattro Caffe is my favorite South Coast Plaza restaurant. This small restaurant is located between Jimmy Choo and Armani. I'm here almost every other week. What do I typically order? 1) Carpaccio Di Manzo - Thin slices of filet mignon topped with arugula, parmesan, and lemon juice. This is my all-time favorite Quattro dish! 2) Caprese - The tomatoes are always sweet and the mozzarella is always fresh! Yum! 3) Seafood Pasta - This dish is their weekend special. It contains calamari, chunks of fish, prawns, mussels, and clams in a red tomato sauce. 4) Prosciutto e Arugula Pizza - The salty taste of the prosciutto is absolutely perfect with the hot mozzarella cheese and rich arugula. 5) Cioppino!!! - You will not find this dish on their menu, but if your order it, the chef will gladly make one for you! It contains the same seafood as the Seafood Pasta. 6) Chocolate Soufflé! - Best Quattro dessert! The soufflé itself is always served hot and tastes incredibly rich but not too sweet. Besides the consistently awesome food, all of the waiters and waitresses are uber polite and friendly, the food is always brought out promptly, and the restrooms are always clean! If you have not tried Quattro, you definitely have to try them out! read more

This is a convenient Italian restaurant in the South Coast Plaza mall. The food has been good, but service has gone down hill (delivered wrong item and after 10 minutes the waiter apologized and took back...who know's where it went). After ordering lunch for 2 with one alcoholic drink), the bill came to around $70 dollars ($18 for a vodka tonic with the well vodka..kind of high for a well vodka). There was 2 totals on receipt, one for if you paid with cash and then the one for paying with a credit card. Of course the total for using a credit card was around 3% higher. I understand that it is legal to charge for using a credit card, but I feel like this is another slap in the face of the consumer. I will not be patronizing this restaurant just because the consumer is absorbing way to many costs. Food costs up, labor costs up, gas price up, crime (robbery) is up....I'm surprised the consumer doesn't have to pay for chair and table rentals when dining. Like I said, I won't be patronizing this restaurant in the future. read more

I have been going to Quattro Cafe for awhile now and I must say the food and service is incredible. I recently attended one of their monthly cooking classes and had the best time. They paired food items with Irish Whiskey and wines from Italy. It was such a unique experience and I will defintiely be attending more in the future. Domenico is extremely talented and I learned so much that evening. He also has an amazing voice and serenaded all that attended that evening with his music. It was 12:30pm on Black Friday. Somehow, I had been up running around with my Fam since 5am but at the mall since 9am. It was a MAD HOUSE! My sister and I were sitting at the bench outside of Macy's waiting for my other sister and her fam (they truly are expert marathon shoppers). I was exhausted, in a daze and yet somehow borderline delirious when my sis asked me why were we not waiting for them with a glass of wine in hand?? BRILLIANT! Quattro was the closest spot and although we were quoted a 30 min wait, we decided to stick it out because every where else was also jammed packed. I have been shopping at South Coast for over 20+ years and have never stopped in to Quattro so I wasn't sure what to expect. Once seated, I took a look around to survey my surroundings. The decor inside was a nod to Italian caffes with old movie images all over the walls--mostly of Sophia Loren. We decided to split: - Bottle of Starmont Chardonnay - Complimentary Foccacia and bread sticks - Insalate Contadino (Grilled chicken breast, greens, warm brie, fresh tomatoes & toast) - Fries - Chocolate Molten Lava Cake The Chardonnay was a great choice--crisp, full flavored...Starmont is always a solid vino. The insalate was exactly what we needed since we were so desperately needing greens. It was fresh and hearty with tons of chicken---and ooey, gooey brie. Perfect! As for the cake, it had good flavor but was overcooked because it lacked some of the gooey "lava" and was a bit dry. Those may have been the only items we personally tasted but every dish that walked by smelled and looked amazing! I'll definitely be back to try some pastas and pizzas. They also seem to have some great happy hour items ranging from $4-$7 (M-F, 4pm-6pm). The best surprise of the day was the awesome service! As mentioned, the mall was a MAD HOUSE and the restaurant was constantly turning over tables. However, it didn't seem to phase the staff at all. Our waiter was incredibly attentive which was particularly appreciated since we were feeling so beat down from the craziness. And yes, after we were watered and fed....we charged out for more hours and hours of shopping! read more

They must've change owners because something seems off. Our entrées took a very long time to come out. I ordered risotto and the scallops and shrimps were hard and over cooked. Mentioned it to my server and he just brought out a couple of new scallops. The food isn't great and we won't be coming back anymore. read more

My BF and I usually stop in here just for a drink and some cheeses in between our shopping. The service on all our other visits had usually been great. But today our server almost got upset with us that we weren't ordering any entrees. He totally checked out after we told him we would just be getting drinks and appetizers. He even said, "Are you sure you don't want anything to eat?" We only saw him twice after that, once to bring us our cheese and another for our check. The bartender even brought us our drinks. I still give it three stars because we have had great experiences in the past, but I do not appreciate a rude staff. read more

***This is the only restaurant inside a mall that I will give a 5 star*** Everytime I visit South Coast Plaza, I always stop here for lunch before a long day of shopping. The service is great and prompt. And the food is excellent; fresh Italian cuisine. It's a little Italian haven. The employees are Italian and the food is fresh; tastes like its made to order. My favorite there is the ravioli di pollo and the margherita pizza. Perfect blend of tomatoe and carrot sauce; so light. There's also a full bar. It can't get better than that. read more

Their restaurant week didn't start on the first Sun, oh well. The foodie group people have always liked this place so I wanted to try it out anyways. While I was entertained by the meal, it was unfortunately not by the food... Got their special seafood pasta for my entree. Quality was pretty poor. The grilled prawns were old or frozen since they had a mushiness to the meat, usually you find that at all-you-can-eat places. The muscles were all undercooked, and had way too much of an ocean flavor to them. The scallops were tasteless along with the fish. The sauce was a bit watery which would have been ok if the seafood was of good quality. My friend had the penne carciofi which is a simple penne with straightforward flavors of wine and garlic. While the penne was cooked well, the dried tomatoes and the artichokes were not high quality enough to elevate such a simple dish to beyond ho-hum. For desert we got the chocolate box with mixed cream and fruit. The cream and fruit were decent. The quality of the chocolate box was probably on the See's candy level since it was pretty sweet chocolate which indicates a lower quality chocolate. But ah, the most entertaining part of the meal was watching my friend try to break down and get at the pieces of the chocolate box. Since it was a challenge, she had a look of determination and a sparkle in her eye with a look of satisfaction as every piece of chocolate was indulged upon. All a bit primal and pretty hot. ;) She seemed to enjoy the dessert. When the best part of a meal was watching someone eat the food rather than the food itself, I know I have a problem. With the low quality ingredients and the high end prices they like to charge, please save yourself the indignation and go to Marche Moderne inside the mall or across the street to Antenello's at the very least. read more

My favorite restaurant in south coast plaza. My favorite to start with is the arugula salad (which I substitute for mixed greens) with fennel (used to be artichoke hearts, which I personally preferred) and shaved parmesan cheese. The lemon dressing on it is light but very flavorful. For entrees, my favorite is the penne pasta with salmon that comes in a creamy pink sauce. I ask for shaved (rather than grated) parmesan to go on top. So delicious I often order to go if I don't have time to dine in after shopping. The service is always top notch. All the waiters are very experienced and appear as though they have been working here for many years. There is a nice clean restroom in the back of the restaurant, as well as a door which takes you directly outside to the parking lot so you do not have to navigate through the mall if you do not plan on shopping. Quattro Caffe is a moderately upscale Italian restaurant located on the first floor of South Coast Plaza (outside the Macy's). Its light-colored woods and immaculate dining hall provide a comfortable setting, while the visible presence of a brick oven and the house wine collection add a bit of class and old world charm to an otherwise modern establishment. The food is prepared in boutique fashion. Pizzas are hand tossed and baked by an open flame, giving them a distinctly rustic look. Pastas are served in voluminous portions with equally generous heaps of chicken, seafood, and other choice toppings. The dessert cart carries the normal entourage of sweets, such as cakes, cannolies, and tiramisu, and they are well done, if not innovative. Quattro Caffe doesn't break any new ground when it comes to food, but for what does, it does well. I do like this place and they have great service but their prices are getting to be absurd considering this is a fairly casual mall restaurant. I think their squash ravioli is amazing but not for $26. IIRC their calamari appetizer is almost $20! I think that's pretty silly. It should be like $12. But I notice a lot of restaurants seem to be raising their prices lately. I understand high prices for certain items but I know the cost of a pasta dish with tomato sauce and the prices they are charging are a little over the top. If I want quality Italian food, I'd rather go to Canaletto or Il Fornaio. Their prices are a little better and they are much nicer restaurants with better ambiance. I would also skip the Chicken Marsala here, it's lacking flavor and I've had much better elsewhere. The apple dumpling dessert is really the only reason I come here but they run out of it sometimes. read more

A true hidden gem in South Coast Plaza. A little pricy but their food is consistently, consistent, consistent. We've been coming here for over 15 years now and didn't think to write review until now. They have THE best fried calamari, always comes out light and crispy and is always consistent. Their red sauce that accompanies the dish is not your normal marinara sauce but flavorful and a little Spivey. Their clams in white wine sauce is always consistent. They come out plump and never shrunk like most other pricier places do. Their clam portions are generous. The kids always order their penne in the pink sauce (tomato cream). Their cioppino is excellent and the seafood is fresh! Service is great. The bartender, Alfredo, has been there forever. If you have AAA card, it's 15 % off your meal. If you are eating alone or for 2, their 6-seater bar is a definite must! Ask for the bar menu and you will be pleasantly surprised. Shhhhhh! read more

If you can get over the fact that the restaurant is in a mall and just go there for the fabulous food, you will find that this is an awesome place. Our family goes here once every other week. Some of our favorite dishes are: the veal, seafood pasta, carpaccio, pepperoni pizza. Their mimosa and tiramisu are also fantastic to start and end a meal. I had the immense pleasure of attending one of Domenico's "Cooking Classes" this past Monday evening. Everything about this venue is elegant. Upon arrival, you are greeted warmly by the staff. The place settings were nearly arranged and I chose to sit directly in front of the demo table. The wine never stopped flowing all night. The food was exquisite! After seeing how the food was prepared and cooked, their staff emerged from the kitchen with our own plates of food. Trio di Bruschetta: Bruschetta Calabrese, Salmone Affumicato, and Funghi Parmiggiano. Filetto al Pepe Nero: pan seared filet mignon with a peppercorn sauce Ravioli con Carciofi e Spinaci: filled with artichoke hearts and spinach with ricotta. Served in a pink sauce. Tiramisu: lady fingers, mascarpone cheese, espresso liqueur. Lots of great singing and dancing. It was an awesome and amazing experience! Cannot wait to attend the next one! read more

One of the best restaurants in the area. Food is awesome, service excellent. We go there every week if not few times. Dominico and his team knows how to make all feel special. From Nino, Bobo to every single one. They have cooking class once a month. It is the best cooking/party event that I attended. The entertainment is live and music at the end of the day completes the entire experience. If you have not tried that yet you are missing out. My favorites are Ravioli aragosta, seated tuna, sea bass and all of their pizzas. All of their deserts are good. When it comes to Italian food, I love this place for FETIUCINE CON SALMONE FRESCO. The service staff they are nice, but very busy. My friend and I waited for almost 40 minutes for our pasta after an event, so our dinner did not arrive till 8:30pm. We were upset, but once you have tasted the food, the food is great. We also had FUSILLI CON SALSICCIA, it was also very good. I came here for pasta once a month. Believe or not, I do miss FETIUCINE CON SALMONE FRESCO. The portion is very good for a lady who wants to control my weight. (LOL) My husband typically needs to help me finish almost half of the plate. I definitely recommend. I have tried many other places in South Coast Plaza, never been impressed.... Highly recommend! read more

Little GEM inside South Coast Plaza. I've personally walked by it for years always caught my attention, but never gave it a try due to the crowd. My fiancé and I finally decided to give it a try last weekend for lunch. We were seated promptly every from the hostess, server to busboy were lovely. Our server guided us thru the menu and helped us narrow down our selection - everything sounded delicious. We ended up narrowing it down to tortellini & prosciutto and arugula pizza - made to perfection. Happy with our selection we plan to return and try various items on their menu. Some complain about the prices, but they are really not bad for the quality and proportions you're getting. read more

DISCLAIMER: We had the distinct pleasure of doing a food shoot for Quattro last year and we got treated like royalty here. Came back again with friends in a group a few months later and were treated--if possible--even better. If the way they treat their vendors is any indication of how they treat their regular customers, I'd say the service is superb! We were the lucky ones that got to eat practically everything on Quattro's menu since we shot almost every food item. Even though by the time we got to it, most of it was cold, it still was delectable! I ate the pumpkin ravioli with my hands, since I was exhausted by the time we got to eat and I just couldn't stop! Brown butter running to my elbows--did I care? Are you kidding? My favorites from our private little tasting would have to be the pannini and the ravioli. We got the following dishes: ARUGULA SALAD Organic baby arugula + fennel + parmigiano reggiano + lemon dressing It was very fresh and light for summer! I loved how they use lemon dressing, that made the salad refreshing. SEAFOOD RISOTTO This was a secret dish not on your regular menu.It was okay, not too special. RAVIOLI Dl ZUCCA Homemade ravioli filled with pumpkin with aurora sauce. This was for my colleague who is a vegetarian. She didn't like it very much. PESCE DEL GIORNO Fresh fish of the day. It was served with mashed potato, grilled zucchini and eggplants. We got sea bass, and it was so delicious! My favorite for the day! Highly recommend this! Went to a cooking demonstration event. Didn't know quite what to expect. We had unlimited wine, an amazing delicious Italian dinner with appetizers and dessert. Entertainment by Dominique. We had the lyrics to sing along. A few glasses of wine and you're definitely singing Also have the recipes. It was so much fun!! Definitely will go again. Oh and the best thing. All this for just $38per person! Just came back recently and price is now $40 but even better. Loved loved the chicken Piccata and fettuccini with truffle oil. read more
