This place is located in south coast plaza, so I went in anticipating that it would be a little on the pricier side. I was correct. However, I was also expecting a nicer experience and I don't feel that I received that. The food is good quality but not outstanding and the service was not very good. I had to stop someone and ask for a coffee refill more than once because no one came to check on us between dropping off the food and bringing the bill. Overall a passable experience, but you can get crappy service and decent food at any number of places in the area for a lot less money. read more

I have been going to Quattro for 6+ years now and I am never disappointed. The food is incredible and the staff is always so kind and helpful. Last night I attended my first cooking class/show that Chef Domenico puts on inside the restaurant and it was amazing. Live singing, he teaches you to cook the dishes that you're eating and the energy is through the roof! Domenico's energy is a sight to see and he makes sure everybody feels like they're at home. Taking into consideration that Covid pretty much destroyed most restaurants, that's NO excuse for restaurant management & servers to allow customers to be on their worst behavior. On a very rare occasion my daughter & I went to enjoy a lunch on the patio of Quattro only to be very disappointed. 2 very we'll-to-do, 40something women were enjoying a few too many cocktails , the loud filthy mouth on one of them should have been washed out with soap. We stopped here for lunch on Sunday, June 12 around 12:30 pm. Our 17 year old daughter was not very hungry. She asked to see the kid's menu thinking she would find something small to eat. The waitress asked the host for the menu and he berated our daughter publicly for asking for one. He was very rude and said you can look at it, but you may not order from it. Seriously? Who cares if she orders from the kid's menu? Service was good. Food was average. I rarely come to South Coast but when I do I always make a point to stop by Quattro. It's quick easy and delicious. Today unfortunately I had a very unpleasant experience that could potentially influence whether or not I will be returning. Id like to say, my waiter was amazing and the soup was great. I sat at the bar by myself that faces the outside of the restaurant. I was in hands reach of the hostess at the front. I looked at her and politely waved by hand to ask for a menu because I had just finished my soup and was still hungry. When she looked at me dead in the eyes and didn't respond. I said excuse me and she looked away and started laughing. It was one of the most bizarre experiences and I truly couldn't believe how down right rude she was being. I felt completely disrespected and disregarded at a customer. She legitimately started laughing at me as she purposefully ignored me intentionally. I almost asked for the manager to settle the issue face to face however I realized that a worker like this needs to be known to the public. As a hostess your job is to be welcoming and accommodating to every customer. If she continues to treat people this way it could permanently affect this small cafes success. My mother took me here so we can enjoy lunch together, but after eating the clam vongole pasta she had severe food poisoning twenty minutes later. I have lived in OC for 10 years and always noticed this busy italian restaurant while shopping at South Coast Plaza but had never been until last week. WOW, what was I waiting for? Not only was the food phenomenal, the service and staff were A+. When Domenico had us all singing along to "that's amore", I had to pinch myself that I was at SCP and not in Italy again, haha. This use to be the old Armani Cafe. I love the decor and atmosphere here. They play nice music and sometimes have a live band. This place could easily be a 5 star place, however, I've not eaten here in a few years because the food I got during my last visit was not very good. I think this caffe is majorly missing out on mega money from the coffee and beverage side of things because they have an espresso machine and wonderful quaint little bar and friendly bartender but like everywhere else in South Coast Plaza the coffee/espresso is horrible. What Quattro has is a goldmine opportunity to start making gourmet expresso coffee drinks but unfortunately they do not even try. The expresso machine is rarely to infrequently in use. My bf needed an espresso shot, so we recently stopped in. The bartender should have ran some hot water through the espresso machine to heat it up as it was not even on, but didn't and the espresso was not even hot and the coffee beans were bitter, but he is a bartender not a barista and it is obvious Quattro is not attempting to excel in espresso drinks! All over the world, amazing coffee is served out of little bars and places just like this place and it is suppose to be an Italian restaurant and yet they are letting the OC coffee connoisseurs drive to third wave espresso cafe's like Portola Labs, Kean and Kit to get coffee and are not even trying to compete. In so far as SCP goes there is no where to get a good espresso, cappuccino or latte, etc. As such I am rarely in SCP plaza anymore, as I can't even sit down for a nice Latte or Gibraltar. I just CAN NOT drink Coffee Bean, Starbucks, or Antonello Espresso Bar coffee and Euro Caffe shouldn't even count as a SCP shop because it is not in the mall. If I was really having a serious caffeine coffee withdrawal emergency and was trolling SCP, I would go to Nordstrom's eBar. Nonetheless, none of the SCP cafes seem to have a highly trained Barista that really knows coffee and how to foam/steam milk properly so really this review is for Quattro, to let them know that they are missing out on a huge opportunity. Antonello's coffee beans are extremely bitter, they use skim milk unless requested otherwise, burn the milk and no one steams to a precise temperate, so you can not request to have your milk steamed to 130 or 140 degrees as they have no idea what they are doing and in the past I burnt my tongue quite a few times. I'm not certain they understand grind either as the crema on their shots is very thin to nonexistent. eBar does not have anywhere for people to sit down nor do they offer espresso in a porcelain cup as you could. You could be making a fortune from expresso 2pm-3pm happy hour stand and go and other marketing concepts as you have a prime location and wonderful decor. If I were you... I would get some VESPA ESPRESSO cups and mugs and color code the drinks to the color of the cups and coffee bean used. Offer freshly roasted high end espresso coffee drinks and train your bartender to be a barista or employ one to work along side the bartender. Quite frankly, taking things a bit further, I think SCP could give you some seated tables in front of Macy's Dept store where they have shows and displays....there is plenty of room there for a perimeter of small tables and chairs for people to get a coffee and then sit down. If not you could still have amazing espresso drinks to go just as eBar, and could have people place their to go orders via an app. All in all good coffee will bring people in to dine and have a ripple effect which will increase profit margins tremendously. Some small delicate pastries could also be incorporated, such as some walnut or pistachio baklavas or macaroon's. Anyhow, I'm just trying to help you out! I just hope you can stay in business with the same old business model you have. read more

Saw great reviews on this restaurant and decided to try it. My son ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and we ordered salads. All of it was delicious! The pasta was freshly made and you could really taste the difference. They had live music (a guitarist) playing which added the the ambiance. Our server was funny and kind. Wife and I go here every Friday evening. We order two or three things and share them all because it's too hard for us to pick one thing. Too many good options to choose from. Sharing is caring :) The ambiance/vibe, management, service, and food is as good as it gets. That's why we keep coming back. First I have to say that we love Quattro Cafe! We have lived in the OC for 30 years and we are always on the hunt for good Italian food (not any more) We just happened to try Quattro Cafe (in South Coast Plaza) when the place we used to go to ( in the same parking lot) had an hour and a half wait on a Sunday after noon. We had the best food, the best service and everyone was so friendly and treated us like we were the only 2 in the restaurant. We were so impressed! Domenico the GM came by our table a number of times to make sure everything was to our standards and theirs. We didn't have to ask for anything! The servers BooBoo and Tim were on it!! Filling our iced tea without asking for it???? Really???? Yes!!! They are top notch servers and we love them. We now go at least once every week or so. They make us feel like family. They know us now, what we like, how we like it and we love that. We love it so much we had a big 60th birthday party for my husband there on July 13th on the patio for 32 people. It was beautiful! They really know how to treat their customers and they really know how to throw a great party. Everyone that came was so impressed. Not ONE thing went wrong! The food choices were off their regular menu and not a special menu for big events. I love that because we love the menu and love the food we were serving our friends and family. I can honestly say that for the past year since we stumbled into Quattro Cafe, no lie, we have not had a bad meal!!! Not had any issues!!! The service is always top notch! The servers (if I knew all their names I'd mention them too!) all work together and everyone is awesome. You can't go wrong! You must try it!!! We just took our friends there for her 60th and BooBoo and Tim were amazing! I would ask BooBoo for something and she would just tell me "you visit with your friends, I got you! Don't worry!" I tried this restaurant for the first time today for lunch while I was at the mall. I had a nice dining experience with exceptional service and friendly staff. The ambience is casual and relaxed offering a nice menu options and fair prices. The restaurant is popular and was full at 2pm. I had the Chilean sea bass which was cooked to perfection and very flavorful along with asparagus. A friend had salmon which looked excellent as well. We split some French fries which were delicious. First, I must start with the manager Domenico Grillo. He makes a point of getting to know all his guests. His passion for service, quality food and providing a 5 Star experience every time keeps me coming back. The food is made to order with the freshest ingredients. If you do not see what you are looking for on the menu, they will make it for you. The staff is top notch. There is live music most evenings which is such a nice touch. The hubs convinced me to give QC one more shot. Total mistake. Our $18 burrata appetizer was served with red tomatoes that were so underripe, they were white. The yellow tomatoes were definitely at their peak and should have replaced the red ones. The burrata itself was a bit rubbery on the outside. The hubs had fettuccine alfredo which he seemed to like. I ordered the soup of the day, which was lentil. Ummm.....I have never, in my whole life, sent something back. I did last night. The "lentil" soup was like thickened tomato soup with a few lentils. It was gross. I took one bite and sent it back. It was like chili or ??? IDK. Just too much sweetened tomato sauce. I've never seen lentil soup done so wrong. The big tv was on. This was my first time at Quattro and I was pleased with the attention and quality of the delicious food that we learned how to prepare and sampled, the portions were more than generous! Dominico, was engaging, energetic, funny, and knowledgeable. I was totally engaged and entertained the entire class! His singing is wonderful and he encourages his class to sing along. My boyfriend and I had dinner at Quattro last night and overall had a nice experience. Servers were very nice and prompt and no complaints there. My boyfriend has been several times but this was my first experience. We ordered the carpaccio to start and split it. I had a few bites but wasn't too sure about it where my boyfriend needed up finishing off the whole thing. For dinner, he had penne noodles in bolognese sauce and I had the Di Mais salad. I tried a few bites of the pasta and it was good - no complaints there. My salad was OK. I thought it would have a little more flavor but the corn in the salad just tasted like canned corn so overall is wasn't anything spectacular. Overall, we had a nice night and we would most likely go back if were at the mall because my boyfriend really likes it. But, as soon as i got home i started complaining of a stomach ache and thought something was off. I decided to sleep it off and i had a restless sleep the whole night. At about 4 in the morning i woke up projectile vomiting for the next hour. My boyfriend, about two hours later, started projectile throwing up as well. It was a disaster and we both had to say home sick from work today. The only thing we shared that day was was the carpaccio so since we both got sick there had to be something wrong with it. I called Quattro this morning and informed the manager, Dominico. He was apologetic and nice and invited us to come back but didn't offer us a refund or to comp our next meal. Which is okay but i don't think i'll be planning on going back because of how i'm feeling right now. Hopefully this was just our experience and doesn't happen to you. read more
