Beautiful little restaurant in an old hotel in downtown Palestine. Nicely appointed and a comfortable, little more upscale place. Service on the night we were there was v-e-r-y slow. It look over 15 minutes for our drinks to be served, and by that time the salads were on the table. Not quite the beginning we had hoped for. Our entrees were all good, duck, pork tenderloin, pappardelle with shrimp and redfish we're all tasty but typical. The price point for each is reasonable for a nicer restaurant, and the wine list is not extensive but the selections and prices are also reasonable. Overall worth the trip if you want something a little different than what you normally find in ETX. Added bonus- the art gallery next to the restaurant is open on Friday and Saturdays and worth checking out. Texas artist David Tripp might be present - his lovely images of Texas are really beautiful!

This place is the bomb... been here twice & the filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus was to die for! I highly recommend & coming & checking it out if you're in the hood! I'm from Austin & usually order seafood... I almost ordered the charcuterie board but when the couple at the bar just got their food- we were like what is that?? And cancelled our appetizers. It was truthfully one of the best steaks I've ever had & I've had Ruth's Chris, Perrys, Bob's Chop House, Trulucks, Eddie V's, III forks, Sullivans, Vince Youngs' steakhouse, Justine's, Filet Mignonetc....

Yelpers, you are spot on! THIS is THE restaurant to enjoy the finest dining of Palestine, Texas! (Actually, perhaps the best in East Texas!) Built 1914 for railroad visitors, the Redlands Hotel has been modernized without losing its soul! It is slightly upscale and don't let the surrounding area cast any doubts on the fabulous food and service you will enjoy!! Our welcome was gracious in a very friendly East Texas way. It felt genuine and with heart! (Tip: ask for Ariel. Absolutely one of the best servers I've experienced in months! She is attentive without being in your way, outgoing, full of energy and smiles plus builds a rapport that few but the skilled at elite fine dining establishments can do. Seriously!) The menu is full of options and while we were seeking to stay on our diet, we were able to have decadent flavors while eating healthy. The Queen Dinner Salad up front set the stage for the super dining experience! With a quality spring mix, it was put over the top with sweet pecans, strawberries, feta cheese and to die for pear vinaigrette! The pecan encrusted salmon I had was the best fish dish I've had in years! (I eat a LOT of fish!) Ariel was close to winning me over to a serving of pecan cobbler, but I knew that would bust my diet as well as belt. (But, oh, was I tempted!) Price was really reasonable for the quality, taste, appearance and elite service! Make sure you ask for Ariel!

Try the Brussels sprouts. You won't be disappointed! And my wife is obsessed with the lunch pimento cheese sandwich.

A great dining experience! We enjoyed everything, but the flourless chocolate cake was our favorite.

One of the best farm to table restaurants in the country. Can't wait to go back this summer, especially for the exquisite service.

We arrived around 11:30 a.m. and were seated immediately, even as the restaurant quickly filled with the after-church local crowd. Seeing so many locals choosing to eat here made us feel like we'd found the right place. Our server, Trish, was wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and checked on us just the right amount--always available without ever making us feel rushed. Our family of seven ordered a variety of meals and everything was a hit. The catfish basket special was a favorite with my parents. My grilled pork chop was cooked perfectly and came with a baked potato and delicious grilled squash and broccoli. My husband enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich with onion rings, our daughter loved the kids' sirloin with mac and cheese, and our youngest happily devoured his chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and fresh fruit. What stood out most wasn't just the food--it was the overall experience. Great service, generous portions, a welcoming atmosphere, and a dining room full of locals all combined to make this a memorable meal. If we're ever back in Palestine, Home Grill Steakhouse will absolutely be on our list for another visit.

Today's choices were liver & onions, beef tips & rice, chicken spaghetti, collards, scalloped potatoes, corn and pinto beans. I ordered the liver & onions, scalloped potato, collards and cornbread. My husband ordered the beef tips & rice as well as the collards and pinto beans. Everything was so delicious but my favorites were the beef tips & rice and the scalloped potatoes. Th restaurant is simple but very clean and the service is polite and attentive. I would definitely come back. I heard they have oxtail on Saturday....oohhh La la!!!!

You get 1 entree and 2 sides with roll/cornbread for about $15. If you want a drink that is extra. If you want something other than fast food but more like what you would cook at home - try it. Everything that my husband and I had I can cook better at home. For starters, I would buy fresh mustard/turnip greens to cook and not get mine from a can. Same with the sweet potatoes. The rice was instant rice that was not cooked properly and was crunchy. When I asked for rice and gravy, the young woman serving me looked confused because there was no "gravy" selection and I had to point to the gravy with the hamburger steak- which by the way was frozen hamburger patties, not fresh hamburger meat hand shaped. So, if that sounds like good home cooking, go for it. I'll probably just stay home and cook.

We hosted approximately 200 guests in Palestine, TX, and the experience was elevated significantly by your outstanding staff. We specifically want to recognize Hunter, Haley, Yari, and Rolando for their professionalism and dedication. They arrived on time, took the initiative to introduce themselves, and actively participated in our logistics meeting. Throughout the evening, they displayed remarkable teamwork and a genuine commitment to service, greeting our guests with warmth and hospitality. Please also extend our thanks to Maria and the kitchen staff. The food was superb, arriving fresh and hot, and the Tres Leches cake was a particular highlight for our guests. You have an "A+++" team at El Toro. We look forward to recommending your catering services to the community and working with Brittany, Maria and their Teams again for future events.
