My husband came home from this place yesterday with the worst haircut I have ever seen in my life! When he went in he had a nice men's short haircut, but not a buzz. When he came out, both sides were completely buzzed very high on his head, with what looks like a piece of rug sitting on top. And the sides are not even even, with one side going all the way up to basically be on the top of his head. Really awful. He definitely won't be going back there. read more

My wife and I will go no where else in the Oxnard area. What more is there to say about a hairstylist for men and women? She also has discounts for military and seniors, and they show up in droves for the best haircut for the money. Aren't buzz cuts all the same? I thought that, but why do the local military guys go to Queena's in droves? If you are a guy, as with any haircut, do a final check to ensure your sideburns are even, then you're good to go. Queena does exactly what the client asks, only better. I have not yet used one of the other professionals in her shop, but I am getting more comfortable with this place and will see about soon. I have been going to Queena's since they opened a few years ago. My husband also gets his hair cut and beard trimmed there every few months. He has seen Queena and Mary and a young man whose name escapes me. He (and I) have been very happy with his cut and trim. I have highlights done every few months and a cut once a year. The first time my highlights were a little too "highlighted" and I went back and had Mary tone them down. Now she knows exactly what I want and does it perfectly each time. I needed a haircut and didn't have a go to place I stopped by and the owner asked if I wanted the same style because I am currently growing out a buzzed cut and just needed a clean up. Went here for first time today with my mom. We are new to the area and trying to find a great procedure place to get haircuts. We did the 2 for $25 which is perfect!! Get a great haircut! The place is very clean, stylists are verybfriendly and nice. Not pushy for products. Also noticed the guy who works there is VERY good at male or short haircuts. The only down side was the wait. When I called prior they said no appt needed so we had to wait longer than they said we would when we walked in. Also I am not sure who cut my hair. Never introduced herself so I couldn't ask for her by name again if I wanted too. Overall, we will be going back. This will probably be our new salon! read more

I am always nervous when I need to get a haircut, so I was spontaneous walking into this salon -right away queena took me , we talked about what I wanted (long layers, face frame, ends cleaned up and keep hair long!!! Well she seemed to understand what I wanted so I trusted her. As she had me in the chair I noticed she was doing some type of razor cut layering? I was Leary of this but kept my mouth shut anyway. She blew my hair dry and it did look descent when I left the shop after $35.00 + tip.... A few days later when I washed my hair, it was awful!!!!!! Awful!!!!! I hate it, it's still long in the back but the sides are too short and uneven and just hang -no shape at all-it may grow out ok but that's not gonna happen for a while! Needless to say I will not be going back for a fix-I don't want this woman to come near me with a razor/ sissor again in my lifetime! $40.00 bucks down the drain-thanks for making me unhappy-I hate when this happens :( read more

Awful experience. We made 3 appointments at 11am for my brothers wedding... Started first 2 at 1130 after taking to walk in hair cuts... The first 2 went in, and I remained in the waiting area. (There were only 2 stylists working). The owner them proceeded to take another walk in client at 1150 while I still remained in waiting Area. I have to agree with a previous yelper that she does not respect your time. I went to her with an appointment and got shuffled around to different stations and workers. I spent at least three hours there for cut and color. I then decided to give her a second chance and forgo making an appt because it didn't seem to matter. Now I'm being pushed back because I didnt make an appt and saw others before me. I got the same treatment with or without an appt. I spent another three hours of my day there. I then went back to get my highlights fixed because they were incorrectly done (wanted blonde highlights and got red) and got pushed back again! So this time I just walked out. (After watching another customer do the same) I'm normally an easy going person and understand that getting your hair done is a lengthy process, but the blatant disrespect of my time 3 consecutive visits pushed me over the edge. I won't go back and I don't recommend this place unless you want to spend half your day there. read more

I've gone to this establishment 5 times. The first two times, I received decent service, but the price was a surprise and definitely not comparable to service. The 3rd time I came in, for my usual 1" trim, the woman who cut my hair barely spoke English and was completely incompetent. She cut my hair unevenly, and again the price was a surprise. The last two times I came in, it was disorganized, the wait was long, and as there is no sign in sheet, customers who went in after me went before me. The customer service is terrible, the quality is questionable and it's very disorganized. It's definitely a 2 at best. There are better places. I would not trust them with my hair. read more

If I could give this place a -5 stars i would. I went in to get my hair bleach blonde and cam out with blonde orange and yellow hair. I went there and got it don't and when they were done the top was an orangish color and the bottom with fine and then I called and said I was unhappy and they said come in and we will put highlights in to try and fix it so I go in for the second time and queena was talking about me 2 chairs down to another client. When she got done putting highlights in she didn't even tone them so they looked yellow! On top of all of it they told me it was going to be $55 and when I left they charged me $85 for blows tying it and cutting it too and she didn't even cut it enough. I called for a third time yesterday and asked for a refund cause I look stupid and she told me that she couldn't do that and I couldn't get blonde hair for only $55 and I said you should have told me that in the beginning!! There is absolutely no better salon or barber you could find than Queena. She IS the best. I have been a patron of Queena's since before she opened her shop in Oxnard. Every haircut she gives me is EXACTLY what I request and completed perfectly. She and her staff are true professionals with their styling/barbering skills. When you make an appointment she is ready for you within 5-10 minutes to when you're promised to get in. Queena, Mary and Frankie are always welcoming and make you feel at home. My wife is handicapped and cannot sit for long periods of time. We scheduled an appointment for 2:00. Just prior to 2:00, a rich snob whispered in Queena's ear and the next thing we knew, she was sitting in the chair. Queena commented to the gentleman next to us that it would just be a few minutes, totally ignoring our appointment. The reality is, I have tipped her between $30 & $40 per visit and despite this, we were treated rudely and had to leave because of the pain my wife was experiencing from having to wait too long... I'm giving this review 1 stars because Queena did give my hair a nice cut. But other than that the service was horrible. I had long hair and I wanted a short hair cut and a wash a blowdry. The whole time Quenna cut my hair I felt like she wasn't even paying attention. She kept on looking at the people waiting in the lobby. It honestly felt rushed and I feel like she was in a hurry to cut my hair so she can move on to other client's haircuts. The WORST mistake I did was to ask her to wash and blowdry it. After she washed my hair she started to blow dry. She put the dryer on maximum heat and it burned my scalp multiple times. She didnt even part my hair to blowdry it. She just moved the dryer all over my hair. If I know she was going to do that I could have blow dryed my own hair at home. My hair was still WET and she starting to do bad curls on my wet hair and I could see smoke coming out. I had to tell her that my hair was still wet. After a while I had enough of the mistreating to my hair that I just got up and paid. Horrible! I will never come again. read more
