We came in for a Sunday brunch. Our waiter was great - very attentive, patient and knowledgeable. The buffet was interesting. The whole salmon was off putting but my husband seemed to love it. I had my fill of the salad, crispy potatoes, and grits and I enjoyed it all. I had the omelette for my entrée and it was decent, and a bigger portion that I assumed I would get. Queenie's is my family's go-to for holidays and special occasions. We have enjoyed take-out during COVID-19. Recently, my son's birthday to go meal did not meet our expectations. For $500, my expectations are quite high! I was not satisfied with the response I received that evening, and I recognized the restaurant was busy. It is my belief that things go wrong so give a business a chance to recover. I decided to call back the next day and speak with a Manager. I reached the GM, Andrew, who listened and apologized for my experience. He said he would call back to make it right. He did exactly as he said, and Andrew shared that the kitchen was sorry for their errors. He also said they wanted to make it right, and they prepared our meal again for FREE! The second time was a charm, and it was exactly the experience we are accustomed to. Everything was perfect! The steaks were cooked to perfection. The sides...OMG!!! We finished with the doughnuts. Please try them! My son put them in our air fryer to warm them up, and they were perfect!!! I am so grateful to Andrew and his team for making my son's 25th birthday dinner special. By the way, we have dined at Queenie's before the pandemic, and the service was the same. They ALWAYS strive to get it right. They have exceeded my expectations once again. Good service starts at the top with managers, and Andrew is the epitome of excellent service. Kudos to you, Andrew! And Kudos to the team for the attention to detail the second time around.. Tried the wagyu bone in ribeye that was the special offering for the night. First, the tomahawk chop didn't come close to being the advertised 32 ounces. Fortunately it was under weight because it was pretty poor steak for this kind of establishment. I wouldn't have been pleased with this steak at Texas Land and Cattle but was especially disappointed to get a steak like this at a celebrity chef's high end steakhouse. I'm beginning to think chef Love should stick to his special burgers and fries. I'll continue to go to Pappas Brothers for high end steak. read more

I wanted very badly to like this place. The bar service was very good. We were seated within a few minutes of our reservation. The appetizers were excellent and arrived promptly. The fois gras was perfectly cooked. It took an hour for the entrées to arrive after the appetizers. The food was excellent, but some dishes were cool while others were at perfect serving temperature. Three checks for a party of six required three returns to get right. A few items were comp'd after the third try. There was no offer to remove the 20% gratuity for service. That actually made the three stars for the food drop to two stars. read more

We recently found this place and I got really excited to share it with my husband. I've been to Tim Love's Lonesome Dove Western Bistro in Fort Worth, and I looked at the menu online and loved that he brought some of my favorite dishes to this restaurant. First off, E. Hickory in Denton is totally under construction, so finding the entrance to this place was a nightmare. Secondly, the jazz band they had in last night was so loud, it was hard to have a discussion at our table in the next room. We ordered the Lobster cakes and Quail legs for an appetizer, they were bland and lacked an seasoning, definitely need the black bean puree and the corn puree to add any level of seasoning, along with salt. The quail legs were too salty, but tolerable. I ordered the Gnocci for my 2nd plate, these were great. I ordered the pheasant and my husband ordered the pork chops. Our sides were of course the truffle mac and cheese and the fried spinach. Both my favorites at Lonesome Dove, but at Queenie's, both were lacking. I really wanted to love this place, but for our money, I would rather drive to Fort Worth and get the real thing. Our total bill was $170, and I was really disappointed in our experience. I was really hoping that my husband would love it, and for what this restaurant claims I was really expecting to be far more satisfied with our experience. Terrible place. Tim love is suppose to know how to run a restaurant and that is not the case. He should look in his backyard before he starts telling others about what to do. We went for a birthday celebration and ordered a cake before hand and they explained the cake over the phone saying that it would be a big cake and when they brought it out that was not the case. It was tiny. We ordered the lamb and both of us had to send it back twice then finally they brought a different steak to us which was good but no one in our party liked their meal. The service was terrible as well when we asked for our plates to be exchanged the waitress laughed and then proceeded to talk crap to the other employees when we were sitting right there and we could hear everything. If you decide to go here do not order the lamb and the quail. The only thing that is good is the appetizers. read more

We can't say enough good things about this place and our experience. We had our wedding reception dinner here and the entire staff went above and beyond to make our experience memorable! The food is incredible and we loved everything. With a party of eight we tried a little bit of everything on the menu. To start, we had the grilled oysters, fried quail legs, himachi, lamb chops, wild boar ribs, and butter lettuce. For the main course, half the our party ordered steaks while the other half ordered the venison. Our food was cooked perfectly and simply amazing! For our sides we chose the truffle mac & cheese and the carrot home fries. I highly recommend the carrot home fries. Absolutely the best carrots I've ever had in my life...and it's pretty hard to say that about a carrot. Loved the atmosphere, music, and the whole ambiance. We'll definitely be going back! read more

When my wife and I went to Queenie's we had a great time with great food. We ordered the jalapeño margaritas and they were excellent. We did the appetizer sample and added the fried quail legs which were by far the best thing at Queenie's. We each shared the tomahawk and it was pretty good just not mind blowing. read more

Hannah's is better for the price. This place is very good but the dining space was a little tight. The squash carpacci was not good at all. The salad was okay. The gnocci was great if you like spicy. The steak was great as expected but the fish was really bland. I would give it 4 stars but for the price you have to wow me more than that. read more

One of our new favorites in Denton. Awesome dining experience all together. The atmosphere is nice but cozy. The waitstaff was great. We started with a cocktail at the bar. I had the "I'll have another" hubby had the Queenies Crown. We had the lobster crab cakes which had an excellent black bean and corn purée. I had the butter lettuce salad, it was fairly average, I would not order it again. We both had steaks, I had the fillet and he had the ribeye. We finished with the doughnut holes for desert as recommended by our server, It was a great little fun desert with three dipping sauces. We had a nice bottle of Greek wine recommended by the sommelier. We will return for sure. read more

Delicious meal but long wait time. I had the pork belly and it was amazing. Everyone else in my group had one of the steaks, which were all perfectly cooked to order. The only complaint I have is the courses were not timed very well. Long waits between each dish. The longest one was waiting for the dessert- I'm not sure why it took so so long. If the food wasn't so damn good we all would have been more annoyed but it was worth the wait! Hopefully it's not a regular problem. Finally - the gazpacho I had as my salad course was out of this world!! I don't know if it's a regular menu item or just seasonal. If you see it in the menu it's a must! read more

Average at BEST. Most items are a bit overpriced for what you receive and not as good as it needs to be in "the best upper scale steakhouse" in Denton. I see Chef Love competing or judging food events on the Food Network. Seems like someone is trying hard to promote Love as a rising star but I am afraid that your "star" is falling if judged by Queenie's. Maybe a bit less promotion and more production oversight? I hope you can do better. We have not given up on Queenie's but will not go as often as we'd like. read more

This is a Denton jewel with great jazz playing in the evening and the delicious menu items you've come to expect from Tim Love without the wait at his Fort Worth, Lonesome Dove. I love the high ceilings of the barn/garage feel of the main dining room and the long bar with usually chatty Bartenders with customized cocktails. The menu is a scrumptious assortment of seasonal vegetables and the best beef in Texas, expertly prepared. Queenie's is a first choice for north Texas dining. read more

We arrived for our reservation on Saturday evening and were greeted warmly. Service started out okay, but soon went down hill. Appetizers and then salads came out in a somewhat reasonable amount of time, but dishes were hit and miss (hit: chili and lobster cakes/miss: butter lettuce salads and marinated shrimp). Then after waiting 30 minutes for our entrees without a word from our server, we flagged down another server who clearly wasn't happy to be bothered. After another 15 minutes, our entrees came out, but one of the pasta dishes was cold. The manager finally came over and offered to comp desserts, but by that time none of us were interested in dessert. So, after 2.5 hours, we paid the (large) bill and departed. Should mention that the restaurant was about half full. We won't be back. read more

Took my family for brunch on Sunday. Had 1pm reservation and the place was nearly empty when we arrived. The brunch was a buffet line and a limited menu. The way it worked was the buffet was included in the brunch price of $19.50 per person, and it also included 1 free mimosa and an entree from a limited menu. The price was rather modest, but I'd prefer to pay more and have a quality meal. The wait staff was professional and attentive but the execution of the buffet line was awful. There was a giant salmon (snarly toothed head and all) that looked like it had been there all day. Patrons scooped out the flesh from the side of this beast and the poor thing was mangled and just gross. It was really off-putting to have to stare at it (or rather, have it stare at us) while we ate. It seemed that it had been touched by many people and was well past its display prime by the time we arrived. The rest of the buffet line was tired too. Small plates were stacked along a counter, each with a hand written placard stating what the dish was (simple things like diced fruit, what appeared to be store bought mini muffins, limp salad, and brownies cut in to small pieces). There were two heated serving pieces (the barrel shaped kind you see at hotel breakfasts where the top rotates back and exposes the food inside). Each of the items inside had been left on the heating gel too long and were crusty around the edges and generally unappealing. Grits, some sort of deep fried potato skin, and fried brussel sprouts were the choices on the day we visited. I'm not the pickiest eater, but I found all of it to be inedible. My family all chose something different from the entree list. Wife had a chicken thigh with some sort of sauce on it. It was a very small portion (we figured it probably should have had two on the plate but maybe they ran out?). It was about 4 small bites of meat, but she said it was OK. Daughter had eggs benedict and she said it was good. Son and I both had hamburgers and both were pretty bad. Buns were old and had been steamed back to life (sort of). Meat was overcooked and generally flavorless. Side dish was fried shoestring potatoes that were not freshly cooked. Neither of us ate them after the first tentative sampling. This was our second visit to this restaurant. The previous visit was for dinner and it was excellent. That's what led us back to try the brunch. The consensus of our group was that either brunch is failing there and they just haven't stopped it yet, or that Tim Love is just phoning it in now. In either case, it was a real disappointment and we won't be giving this place another try. read more

The atmosphere is good. The service is good. The location is good. The food was meh. My wife and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary at Queenie's with high expectations. We have been to some very good steakhouses and hoped we had found one in Denton. We knew that we would be spending a lot of money but were excited to have a fine dinning experience and memorable date. We split the Red Chili Marinated Shrimp and we added an extra piece so we would not have to fight over the third one. The shrimp was served onto our plate by our excellent server leaving what I assumed was all of the flavor in the dish she had. The shrimp was overcooked and lacked any real flavor. You couldn't taste the smoked pineapple or the chili. Next, I had the butter salad and my wife had the shaved vegetables. Once we added the fresh cracked black pepper and a generous spoon of salt they were passable, again not much flavor. Next were our steaks. I had the 16 oz rib eye and she had the 8 oz Wagyu. We added the Truffle Mac and Cheese and the grilled asparagus. The best thing was the fried artichoke garnish on the Mac and cheese. Everything needed flavor. Then for desert was creme brulee for the wife and doughnut holes for me. The creme brulee was adequate and the doughnut holes for not good, absolutely no flavor to the doughnut itself and the cinnamon sugar coating was not enough to mask the flavorless fried bread under it. Our server was excellent and took very good care of us, even bringing out a sparkler and champagne with desert for our anniversary. We will probably give this place another chance because we really want it to be good. It would be nice to have a place like this in Denton instead of going to Bob's or some place in Dallas. Our meal with tip was nearly $300.00. It didn't ruin our date but it was a major let down. read more

Queenie's is Denton's first upscale steak restaurant and Tim Love has brought his A game to this fine restaurant. We went there on opening night and Tim Love actually delivered our food to the table. The quality of the food and service were top-notch, even by Dallas standards. We had a few drinks at the bar while we waited for our table and quickly realized the bartenders were true mixologists able to mix up even the most exotic drinks and make it look easy. Once seated, we started with the grilled oysters, homemade sausage, and the Gnocchi. Everything was delicious, but the Gnocchi, covered in rattlesnake sausage and tomato sauce, was the big winner for me. On most of the meat selections, you choose the size of your cut and pay by the ounce. I choose the wet aged Beef Tenderloin ($2.60 per ounce with 6 oz. minimum) and ordered a 12 oz. It was delicious, tender and cooked perfectly. My wife had the dry aged Ribeye ($3.80 per ounce with a 14 oz. minimum) and it was even better than mine. Her Ribeye was so tender, I was able to easily cut it with my fork. For sides, we had the Truffle Mac and Cheese ($12) and the Roasted Mushrooms ($15) and both were really good. I looked for flaws in this restaurant and areas were they could improve, but it was perfect. They also have a cigar menu and an outdoor patio where you can order drinks and smoke a cigar. Queenie's is currently only open Thursday through Saturday and only serve lunch on Friday. They also have some great happy hour deals early evening on Thursday and Friday (you'd better call to confirm this). It would also be a really good idea to make an advance reservation. It's a steak house that will rival any of the best steakhouses in Dallas. You'll definitely need to bring your money, but it was well worth every cent we spent. I was disappointed with Queenie's. I think Denton has the potential to support a quality steak restaurant but this one falls short. The service was excellent and our waitress was very knowledgeable of the different cuts of meats and wine offerings. I enjoyed my salad; however, my wife's tomato basil soup was luke warm. The sides we choose were the truffle Mac and cheese and the grilled cauliflower both of which I enjoyed. The cauliflower was delicious but inconsistently cooked. The steak which I was most excited about fell way short. I felt it lacked the flavor and tenderness of other quality steak restaurants. I also felt the steak sauces provided were solely there to distract you from the lack of a quality steak. Despite the convenience of being local, for the money, I would rather drive to Del Frisco's, Papa's Bros, Bob's, Nick and Sam's and I would even rank Maquire's in Addison above this place and they are at least half the price. read more
