It pains me to leave only 3 stars for this restaurant as we are regulars. We are at Hillside at least once, sometimes twice per week. Not sure what the shift is but the last few visits have been disappointing. Food has come out cold or missing items. We were there this past week and had some out of town guests with us, had a couple of appetizers and then on to our meal. Half of the table got their meals while the other half sat for at least 15 minutes before receiving ours. Some waited on us to get our meal therefore theirs was now cold. Can I also state that the green beans were completely inedible, and the trout was way overcooked. The salads are also hit or miss. Sometimes all expected & listed ingredients are there other times it's lettuce and a couple of croutons and tomatoes and that's it. Our server was fantastic, this has never been an issue. Service is always fantastic. I think this is a kitchen issue, but somewhere there is a breakdown and we need it fixed pronto! We love this place to much!! read more

We dined as a family at Hillside the week of Christmas for our special dinner. Our reservation was ready upon arrival even though they were very busy. We were seated promptly at a booth as requested. Our waitress was incredibly professional and very helpful at guiding us through the menu (our first visit). We all had a hard time deciding what to eat as there were a lot of good looking options! After starting with a dinner salad that was delicious (loved their ranch) I decided on the catfish and shrimp, my husband tried the fish and chips and my son got the lemon herb chicken. All were done well. I wouldn't say any of us said it was the best we'd ever had, but we didn't have any complaints OTHER than my husbands coleslaw being on the plate instead of a separate container- all of the coleslaw dressing ran into his fries and fish. But that's a simple fix in the future. Overall a pleasant experience and we will definitely return. read more

We came for dinner on Friday at 5:30pm. Wow, they were packed! So glad we got a table without a reservation. Mike was our server in the bar area. He was great! So professional, always checked on us, cleared the table as plates were emptied, refilled our drinks without us having to ask, and just pleasant! He answered a lot of questions and we enjoyed our meal and dinner. We got dessert and tried the cappuccino ice cream pie. I'm not a coffee drinker, my husband is, we both enjoyed it. I've been going to this restaurant regularly since it opened. Lately, the service and food has not been as stellar as is used to be. We had a yoing server the past two times that had to be hunted down to get drink refills. The portions are getting smaller (the shrimp used to be the bigger size, the potatoes are in smaller dishes, etc) , and with their latest menu, they took off the trio selection. I know recent economics make it difficult, but I hate to see the decline. read more

I went here to celebrate my husband and father in law birthday. The service was really amazing. I don't know the name of waiter but he was really nice and friendly. We had an issue with one steak and they were prompt and professional with handling the situation. A staff member name Devin came to personally to apologize for the steak. The food is good here. I got the spinach dip pasta which was not my original first choice but after seeing another customer devour it I had to try! So glad I did! Got the meatballs as well which were a bit salty for me but the shrimp appetizer made up for it! The Bellini was a little too syrupy for me so replaced it with a skinny margarita which was fantastic! Have been here twice now and can't say enough good things about this place! It was introduced to me originally around my birthday as a friend who is a regular there, took me. Food was excellent and I couldn't wait to have my husband try it as I knew this would appeal to him. Well that they came this past week and he has talked about nothing but this restaurant since we were there! We were out running errands In frisco and he said let's go back there for dinner... from the point of which we were it would've taken us at least an hour and a half to get there so we kind of put that on the back burner, but I already have plans to go back this next week! Food was absolutely phenomenal and our friends who are very regular regulars were it's so pleased that we liked it as we have wanted to join them several times but just couldn't make the connection. This time we did and it seems like it was all worth the wait. The menu is large and very well varied with so many choices that you literally could go back there time and time again and not eat the same thing. We dined here as a family to do a celebration dinner for a relative and there is not one complaint I can make regarding our experience. We were offered a fine dining experience for a more than reasonable price. This place is great for families, or for a date night. We made reservations using my favorite app (Yelp lol) and everything went as planned. I was able to get there early and have a cake be kept in the back; the server delivered it with plates and forks at the end of dinner as a surprise for my sister-in-law. The entire establishment helped to make our celebration dinner as success. What a wonderful restaurant. We will be back for sure. read more

There is not a single thing I don't love about this place. The ambiance is absolutely comforting and inviting, warm and modern, and the music is played at a perfect volume. Their menu is very extensive (American type fare) with so many great things to choose from so I must go back to have more! I had the Brussel sprouts and peppers which was pretty filling even though it's an appetizer. I also had a cup of their seafood gumbo which was very flavorful and had some pretty nice sized shrimp. This place does fill up quickly but we got there right when it opened, and our service was quick throughout the visit. They have a very nice bar area to sit in as well!
