    NZ Meat Pie

Really enjoyed our meal to queenstown which has a slightly more expansive menu than some of their other locations. The meat pie was flaky and tender and the fries were crispy. The tomato chutney comes as a side on many dishes and I wish I could have taken some home, a perfect balance of sweet and acidity. Every burger that came past our table looked great so I can't wait to try one of those.

Great spot on a nice day to stop and pretend you aren't shopping or maybe talk about shopping for fun. It's in the middle of the mall and there are a lot of great restaurants in UTC. But this place has brunch and lunch options on Sunday. The late breakfast was delicious ( see pics ). The chicken blt I ordered was simple but delicious. Very fresh. The steak Cesar was also great. Steak was plentiful and it tasted awesome. They also accommodated our third meal ordered for the group which was making a teriyaki burger into teriyaki chicken and the fries or potatoes were tasty. Waiter was cool and remembered everything with frequent check ins. Ambiance was nice as it's all outside and it was a sunny evening with clear clouds. Only thing from giving this place a five is it's not cheap. Very expensive and overly price. Over 20$ for a sandwich or salad which is portioned perfectly to finish but you probably won't be taking anything home or 100 bucks with tip for 2 Sammie's and 1 salad and no additional drinks is just too much. It was Mother's Day but it was a standard menu. I could see these meals costing half the price so let's just say the food is great and service and ambiance but it's definitely overpriced. We don't go out too much and for a pseudo holiday and fun outside spot it's definitely a great spot, just expect to pay prime real estate prices and no to go leftover boxes.

Very aesthetic for both indoor and outdoor seating. Ideal for beautiful sunshine breakfast. The lamb burger was flavorful and juicy. Fries were crisp and enjoyable too. That was the highlight. The croissant and French toast were overly sweet and underwhelming. Would come back to try other dishes. Service was quick and kind.

I've been to their UTC and Little Italy locations before, but this was my first time visiting the La Jolla Village spot--and I have to say, it's the prettiest of the three. They have a nice outdoor seating area, which worked perfectly since we had our dog with us. We went midweek, so it was very quiet and relaxed. I ordered the steak salad, which was fresh and really well done. The steak was cooked perfectly and added great flavor to the dish. The portion was good too. My mom had a sandwich and tomato soup, and both were delicious as well. It did seem like they might have been a bit short-staffed. Even though it wasn't busy, service was a little slow--but nothing too disruptive. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I'd definitely come back, especially to try their brunch--it feels like the kind of place that would be perfect for it.

Food was fantastic, service was wonderful from everyone including bar staff and the inside of this restaurant is so gorgeous. Definitely picture worthy! We were told during the winter they add lights to the decor and I'm sure it looks stunning. Try their version of the espresso martini, you won't be disappointed. We'll definitely be back.

Been to all of the sisters restaurants and finally popped in here. There have a cute patio area. Comfy bar area and restaurant seating. Tried the veggie pie for the first time and it was delicious. The burger was good too. Service friendly and quick

The food was fabulous and I loved it. We came on a mother's day and of course, it was super busy. They were very courteous and patient since it was busy for them. The service was great. And I would probably most likely come back again.Do this service and the food and the ambience was super cute. The decorations of the place was so admired. Parking is really hard so plan ahead.

Love it so aesthetically pleasing. Has a bar and cafe. Service was amazing, so was the food, it came out really fast too. Sat and talked with the bartender for a bit he was super nice. Lots of seating inside/outside and in the cafe area.

What a lovely visit! The host was so kind and gave us a tour of the restaurant, explains their decorating process. Spring Mode is gorgeous! We sat in the bar area for a snack and enjoyed their Wine Wednesday special. We chose a great bottle of Italian Prosecco, and had their delicious onion dip. Seriously the best version I have had. They offer a nice selection of cocktails and wine. Service was great. Highly recommend a visit when in La Jolla.

Dined here during a quick trip to San Diego and first step in was stunned by the interior. The floral arrangements were beautiful! Service was amazing and personable as well. They can try to make any of the cocktails into mocktails so I thought that was a bonus. The food was also tasty. The pretzel with the jalapeño cheese was so yummy (i did have to take some salt off bc it was a bit salty for me). The steak was yummy as well but the fries get a bit oily once you reach the bottom of the plate (i just didn't some of it). But overall would definitely come again if I visit the area.

Very good food. Friendly service - although a touch slow on this visit. The ambiance is amazing. Beautiful whimsical space that is kept clean. It's spacious and comfortable.

3 months later... and I'm still thinking about this brunch spot. Friendly, fast, and festive. My hubby and I went here during the holiday season. Such a vibe. I'm here for the aesthetics or whatever is aesthetically pleasing. Great service and great food. We ordered the lamb hash and quiche & salad. I would recommend the quiche and salad as a light meal because like I said in my previous reviews we are trying to get snatched in 2026. Enjoy! Thank ya!

This place is super cute! The service was great and loved that they had vegan options. I had the slides and avocado toast. This is the perfect place for a girls brunch or a birthday brunch.

The ravioli was the standout of the night, thin pasta with just enough filling for a delightful bite. The bucatini all'amatriciana wasn't quite what I'm accustomed to, the guanciale was ground rather than diced, and the sauce leaned more toward a meat sauce with an oily finish, not really my style, though the pasta itself was cooked well al dente. The steak, on the other hand, was excellent. Cocktails were great, and the staff were attentive throughout. For dessert, the trio was a nice way to sample a few things, though I wish they offered smaller sampler portions instead of full-size pieces. The Basque cheesecake was excellent and the semifreddo was perfect with a nice crust. The chocolate torte was good but couldn't compete with the other two. Overall a strong dinner spot in La Jolla, especially for pasta lovers and sunset views.

We called an hour ahead to reserve a table and luckily they had availability. We ordered the crudo and octopus as appetizers. The crudo was served with fresh tuna topped with a sweet melon sauce (not to my liking, but still appreciated). The octopus was delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the pistachio pesto pizza, raviolli, and beef ziti. The pizza was my favorite (i love anything pistachio) especially enjoyed the pistachio pesto. I appreciate the thin dough of raviolli and the ziti was good. Overall food was good. Our server's name was Kevin, he was friendly and gave great service.

The place was lively, but luck was on our side: one perfect booth remained for the four of us sweet seekers. We settled in and immediately starting gabbing (versus checking out the menu). George came over to take our order. Without even glancing at the dessert menu (a bold move, I'll admit), I asked for one of each dessert to share--paired, of course, with a couple glasses of Scarpetta Rosé bubbles (okay so I glanced at te wine menu). Priorities . What arrived was equal parts surprise and delight. First, a charming little glass jar filled with lightly whipped crème fraîche and topped with salted caramel--simple, elegant, and absolutely delicious. And then... the "hamburger." Cue the table going completely silent. Naturally, we had questions. Our server walked us through this masterpiece from the bottom up: a golden caramel cake "bun," topped with a chocolate-coated ice cream "patty," a delicate mango gelée "cheese," and even "pickles" made from matcha cake. Finished with a second warm cake layer and a touch of garnish we were too excited to fully catch--because at that point, we were already diving in. The contrast of warm cake, cool ice cream, and rich chocolate was nothing short of fantastic. Playful, unexpected, and genuinely delicious--exactly the kind of dessert experience you hope to stumble upon. Thank you, The Whaling Bar, for the sweet surprises. We'll absolutely be back--next time for martinis, and I've already been told the duck meatballs are not to be missed.

We called to add a couple extra people, and then those people didn't show; they rolled with the punches. The table was set when we got there. Service throughout was friendly, prompt, over and above. Ambiance was great, in a very important way: There was nice music, but you could hear yourself think! Nobody had to repeat themselves a million times. Perfect sound level for a group our size. But the food was the absolute star of the show. Literally everything was perfect. For shareable appetizers, we got both the trio and the mezze plate. It was basically hummus flights, with pita triangles and multicolored carrots. All the hummus types were delicious. But a special shout-out to the truffle hummus--it was divine. It was very truffle-y, but it was also very light and creamy. Somehow that's not a combo I expected. Next, I'm already a falafel fan, but good *Lord* their falafel was unreal. Some kind of perfect crispiness on the outside and soft flakiness inside that I've never experienced before in falafel. I asked the server what he'd recommend, and he said beef kebab. I got the beef kebab. He was not wrong. The meat itself was sumptuous. And I just moved from Texas, where every other backyard BBQ has someone smoking their brisket for 18 hours. This was the kind of cook where even the marbling melts in your mouth. Even the carrots were good, I don't know what to tell ya. 10/10.
