The location is great. Who doesn't love outdoor patio by the water. Came on a Thursday evening and it was empty. We were asked if we had a reservation, but if felt like they were going to say they wouldn't seat us without one. Were able to get a seat on the patio. Service was fine. Quench was a nice find to stumble onto; having our little one with us, our other Port Townsend favorite, Sirens, was off-limits to us, but thankfully, this upstairs Hawaiian-adjacent bar and grill is family friendly! As our time was limited (waiting for the ferry, as many often do), and we weren't particularly hungry, my wife and I each ordered a Bloody Mary flight, each choosing four of the six options most to our fancy. Sadly, we both received the exact same four, neither of which entirely matched our selections. The result was a mixed bag of "Yea" and "Nay", some being incredible (the basic Bloody Mary was our collective favorite) and some almost undrinkable (the Bacon Mary was similarly unpleasant to both of us). My wife also ordered a side of Spam, nominally a favorite of hers, preferring the canned variety (strangely enough) over all others. Homemade, or sourced otherwise, she wasn't a fan of it, although I thought it was great, so YMMV with this one. Our little guy also enjoyed it, so I think her palate for processed pork products is purely picky and particular. There were a couple of other minor operational snafus, but nothing to write home (or on the internet) about. In short: the things we ordered, and expected to enjoy (for the most part), we did. Those we didn't, were not as well-received. Overall, Quench didn't quite satisfy our thirst for adventure, but they weren't completely off the map, either. A little more care and attention to detail, and there's no doubt we'd make it a point to stop in for the full meal deal, instead of just a pre-boarding pre-funk. read more

Prices are very good. The view is spectacular and would be even better in the summer. Overlooks the Salish Sea and Ferry route. The service is decent but it can take a very long time for the food to come. The water is awful and probably just bad in this town unless filtered. The food portions were huge but no flavor. No salt or any seasoning on the burger. Fries were nice with salt and pepper. Greens were a little wilty but it's winter in the PNW and good greens are hard to find. Got menus within a few minutes all good. But also got "the bartender is xxxx and will be right with you". 10 mins later between menu and being ghosted, we gone. Unfortunately the service yesterday evening was very poor. We were unable to get waited on and left after 20 minutes of being ignored. Most of the guests had left but the waitress was spending a lot of time clearing tables and never once acknowledged us. The hostess talked to us a long time and we saw her clear one table. Our advice on a busy night like a Saturday evening (we were there @ 6:30) would be for the hostess to help on the floor way more than she was doing. Waitresses should not be handling dirty plates and delivering food. There seemed to be no real teamwork evident. Also, would recommend owner or manager come in when they are so short staffed, as there was only one waitress handling the whole restaurant area which included the outdoor deck. This place gets 4 stars from me but it's mostly because they gave us non vaccinated domestic terrorists a place to sit and eat. If you can prove vax then you get to sit in the regular restaurant, if not you get to sit in an outer area that's nicely decorated, within the building. Sounds confusing but I think I snapped a couple of pictures to help explain. Anyway, for food we had a panzanella salad and a deluxe cheese - cheeseburger. The salmon on the salad was tasty however the rest of it was a bit salty. The cheeseburger on the otherhand, we found delicious. We wouldn't mind coming back to try brunch. Long story short, they charged $20 over the bill I signed for. Keep your receipt! Thank goodness I did. The waitress was incredibly inappropriate and made a joke about OJ Simpson dying in front of our two young kids. They forgot about our order, which happens, but they kept saying it would be up in 5 minutes. The tables around us noticed and started saying how good our kids were for waiting. Our second visit to Quench is unfortunately the one that will keep us from going back. My wife ordered the bloody mary flight. Took a while to get it and when she did, the bacon was missing from one of the drinks. Wife informed the server who apologized and notified the kitchen. After waiting several minutes more and asking again about the bacon, the server went back to the kitchen and retrieved a slice on a plate. When she got to our table the server rolled the bacon up (with bare hands) and put it in the drink. We stared at each other in shock and disbelief at what we were seeing. Obviously, this is the event that sticks out in our minds, but there were other issues that soured our visit. The same server got in our personal space and touched us on the arms or shoulders. The staff became perturbed at people seating themselves. Food was only average (my first burger, BBQ, was excellent while the second was mediocre. French toast was undercooked). Odd hours. Uncomfortable chairs. We wanted to like this restaurant, but the "bacon incident" has been burned into our memories. I do not recommend Quench. read more

However we were pleasantly surprised. My wife got the deluxe cheeseburger, my son got the crème brûlée French toast and I got the OG loco moco. What a Kitchen Nightmare! How is Quench still in business? This place would give Gordon Ramsey a stroke. The only good thing about Quench is the view, and oh do you pay dearly for it. Food was so gross and weird and insultingly overpriced for what it was. Horrible 90s music adds to the confused vibe of industrial cannery meets garden party she shed with tacky decor from Marshall's. Loco moco was more like loco caca, especially considering that it caused exactly that within hours. Their bizarre loco moco is basically Spam drowning and waving for help in a soupy sea of Thai curry sauce and overcooked rice topped with pomegranate arils that just don't belong. Salmon salad was a mess of tapenade with limp greens. Eggs Benedict? Eggs beneDON'T. You get two weird sous vide egg pucks of questionable freshness, with solid yolks no less, and slabs of ham the size of a child's shoe atop thick slices of sugary bread with hollandaise poured all over the plate instead of the "Benedict" itself. It's really more of an awkward open face sandwich than a Benedict. The accompanying side of fruit had been cut with a knife that had also been used to cut either onions or garlic, so clearly this kitchen has cross contamination issues. Chef needs a lesson in food safety. My son threw up shortly after eating his Benedict. My wife and I both felt sick and spent the rest of the day with stomach aches and diarrhea. Drinks are way too sweet and not fully filled. Water tasted and smelled like raw eggs. Don't waste your money or jeopardize your health at Quench. read more

Many years ago, a neighbor told us about Quench and, since we had house guests at the time, four of us went there for dinner to try it out. Every dish was wonderful, beautifully presented and delicious! The ingredients are high quality, the combinations are creative and pair well with each other and each item is cooked perfectly. Every part of the experience, from the way the space is used, to the service and the beverages, is stellar! It is clear that the chef/owner cares about every detail of her customers' experiences. We liked the meal so much that the four of us came back for lunch the next day, something I have very rarely done. On the second visit we each tried different dishes and everything was again fabulous. My wife and I came for the third time in a week for Valentine's Day dinner, which was every bit as good as our previous experiences. So, between the four of us, we ate ten meals at Quench in a week and every one was flawless. Every bite of every dish was eaten. I am gluten intolerant and the chef went out of her way to accommodate me, even making me a custom dessert. My wife ordered lemonade, which wasn't on the drink menu and it arrived in a beautiful glass, garnished with a sprig of mint and a slice of lemon; it was great, obviously fresh-squeezed lemon juice and simple syrup, with just the right tart/sweet balance. I don't usually give a great restaurant five stars until it has a significant track record of excellence, but ten flawless meals in a row overruled that. Don't miss it. We have now eaten at Quench many times over a number of years and have always had good experiences. It is our favorite restaurant here. Earlier this week, we had a birthday party there for my wife and it was perfect! Lora, the owner, is so warm and kind and accommodating, as well as being an excellent chef and a highly professional restaurateur. We had never done anything like this before and she thought of everything. All we had to do is choose the food we wanted and let her know how many people to expect. She closed the restaurant on the day we wanted and created a wonderful experience for everyone who attended. The food was excellent, the service was stellar and the room was arranged just the way we wanted. She even provided a floral display and music. In addition to all that, she created a delicious birthday cake, tailored to my wife's preferences and she customized each person's food to fit their dietary needs - vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free ... all no problem. Finally got a seat and ordered and when we were ordering I was asking what was gluten free and finally settled on a burger with a gluten free bun. We spent a rainy and cold "spring" (?) day at port Townsend in a fit of cabin fever from a rough Washington winter. We stopped into quench for lunch on our way out of town. The menu itself didn't appeal to me, but we were tight on time and the reviews werent awful. The "hawaiian" decor was tacky to the point of being really offensive to Hawaiian culture. Those Party City Plastic leis were scattered around, fake flowers abound and chintzy grass skirts around tables. I got the halibut fish and chips. The fish was inedible try and one solid piece cakes in thick coconut flour blaster. There wasn't enough sauce in the restaurant to save this bone dry atrocity. I did eat all the fried, because I'm no heathen. Josh got the brunch burger which was a safer, and more enjoyable, choice. He had no loud qualms and thought it was better than a fast food burger, if not very memorable. The location of this spot is pretty beat- great windows, centrally located. I recommend ditching the shallow Hawaiian theme and reassessing/updating the menu. read more

Upon entering, the bartender (dark hair, slim build) was abrasive when we asked how to be seated. It was mid-day with lots of empty tables. Ok, we finally get seated; our server, Anthony, gave the impression that he just didn't want to be there. Menu? Limited. Mostly burgers. We both had the $17 cheese burgers. Burger was a patty. Fries? Not good. Unfortunately in places like Port Townsend where most clientele are visiting, mediocre places like this can thrive. There just isn't incentive to provide professional service or good food when a restaurant isn't concerned with building returning clientele. We were tempted to eat here for the Hawaiian food and outdoor dining. AN UNEXPECTED FUSION EXPERIENCE. We arrived at noon on Saturday when they were serving their brunch menu. My husband and I both got loco moco (his standard and mine with veggies instead of meat). I noticed the menu said the gravy was soy-coconut and it was served with tumeric rice. Interesting. However, in practice this made the dish so curry-tasting it was disappointing when we really wanted more of the traditional loco moco to shine through. The mac salad wasn't anything to write home about until we got to a few pomegranate seeds included that popped beautifully in our mouths and gave a burst of tang to the heavy. A LACKLUSTER OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENT. As excited as we were to sit outside, we got seated on the lower deck which didn't have much of a view aside from that of the parking lot. The inside might have been the place to be as they had some pretty unique décor. All in all, we might be back if only to try their burgers and eat indoors. read more

I totally recommend it! The four different flavors were all enjoyed and we were shocked each was a full glass. Definitely something to share next time. I'm so glad this place was open with outdoor seating on a Sunday during COVID. It was the only restaurant in the area that popped up on my Yelp that was open on a Sunday afternoon. They had two "outdoor" dining area. It was too cold to sit outside looking out the waterfront so we sat in their other seating area that was outside of the indoor section was inside the little shopping center. The tables were spread out and we were the only ones there. Cute decor and great friendly service. The salmon on my salad was one of the best salmon I've ever had. It tasted very fresh. GREAT! Fantastic halibut fish and chips (baked not fried)! Plus we had our dog, who was welcome on a special waterfront deck. Nice service. Muffaletta wasn't a true muffaletta, but it was a GREAT sandwich. Over all a good time on a sunny Saturday. OH and the "Hibiscus Paloma" cocktail was delicious and the perfect accompaniment to our shared 2 entree meal. Sad sign. No pics again.
