Also very clean inside out and the bathroom too! Plenty of seating and the patio was nice. We ordered chips & salsa, camarones (shrimp) dinner, Quesabirria, chicken, shrimp, & a fish taco. Overall we loved everything but the chicken taco, but only because I don't like that kind of cheese, the chicken itself was great. Plenty of limes with the tacos, salsa bar was fresh, unlimited pico! The mild salsa that comes with the chips were my fave and the chips were crispy and warm. I'd order all of the same things and add a house margarita or fried ice cream. we really indulged but left feeling full but not in a gross way. The food was fresh & not greasy either. This is a hidden gem of an authentic Mexican restaurant. It occupies a weird building that is across from a Marathon gas station. But it's not associated with the gas station (don't go in there to buy lotto tickets) as the convenience store is on the other side of the pumps as is a Dunkin Donuts. There's a nice patio in front, but it's facing Michigan Rd which is basically a highway so I have never seen anyone sitting out there. Thr inside is much quieter, but there's not much to the decor. No sombreros or Mexican flags here. But that's not why you come here. Order from the counter and pick up your food when it's called. They have a limited bottled beer menu and they also serve margaritas. And the drinks are cheap. :) As their name implies, they specialize in tacos, especially quesabirria tacos. But they also have several other tacos (lengua, tripa, pastor, chirizo, chicken mole, shrimp, etc), all a la carte. I like their tacos, but I come here for the pozole. read more

This place is great. Awesome spot for tacos that are still decently priced. No frills trying to include extras in the food in order to jack up the price. Just quality, well-made food, that is made fresh to order. I came here solo to try the tacos since I had been seeing the great reviews and I was not disappointed. I ordered a quesabirra taco, pastor taco, and steak taco to go. They have a salsa bar where you can try ~6 different salsas. They even offer small to go containers with lids if you are not eating at the restaurant. The tacos were still hot by the time I got home and they were delicious. My favorite was the quesabirria, but all of them were plenty flavorful. They come with a lime and that is it, besides the topics listed on the menu, which is really all you need. I tried the spicy verde and spicy tomatillo salsas and both were the perfect amount of spice and wonderful flavor. It was so good I brought the family back the next day. We came mid-morning and we were hoping to try the breakfast tacos. However, they were not on the menu and, when we asked, they said they no longer did breakfast. This was disappointing, but everyone enjoyed their food and my birria burrito was good as well. I prefer the tacos, but if you enjoy burritos, definitely give it a try. The restaurant ambiance is well lit, has 1 or 2 TVs, and music playing. The service was good, not over the top, but did not leave me begging for more as well. I highly recommend this spot for Tacos. This was an unexpected surprise! Walking in the place was cleaner and larger than I was expecting. The menu is large and there were lots of options. I ordered a variety of tacos to try out and a margarita. The tacos came out fast and were decent. The shrimp was my favorite. The fish taco was good, but the fish would have been better deep fried. Loved this little taco place! The inside was a fun Mexican restaurant vibe and the workers were all very nice. I ordered 3 tacos, chicken, pastor, and carnitas. They were all delicious and were the closest street tacos I've found to authentic tacos I used to have when I lived in Texas. I also went on a Tuesday and they have $2 tacos all day on Tuesdays. This place has no reason to be as good as it is. In a gas station annex building, among a bunch of big box stores and chains, and in Carmel/Zionsville, not exactly known for their Mexican food in the first place. But now they not only serve rocking tacos, but breakfast too! These aren't the cheapest tacos out there, but they are very good, fresh, hot, and the place is very well kept and clean. read more

This is kind of a mashup of a fast casual place with a traditional taqueria: the decor and marketing look polished like a chain and you order at a counter, but the food was as good as much more traditional family-run spots and the cashier said this is their only location. The atmosphere was a vibe, and it was very clean. The man that took our order was kind and patient. Every table had fresh, real flowers in small vases, which was a nice touch. Food was good--more spice would've made it great. I ate the burrito because my boyfriend is picky, and it came with the things he asked for it without. It was a hearty burrito though! The very helpful woman behind the counter helped my wife and I narrow down our choices. I ordered a Chorizo Taco with cheese between the shell and a Carnitas Taco. The Chorizo was fantastic, and the cheese between the shells is the way to order the taco. The Carnitas was a bit dry but tasty nonetheless. (this is the only reason it's not 5 stars). My wife got the Carnitas Burritos and loved it! We got a side of chips and salsa. They have a salsa bar to accompany it. The hot salsa was actually hot. It was my excuse to order a second Dos XX. Pick a seat and drinks comes out quickly and food comes out in about 10 minutes. The clerk is friendly and patient. I ordered 3 street tacos. The Chicken Mole taco stole the show for me. The mole was flavorful and chicken very good. The chicken taco was very good and filling. Both tacos were topped with marinated red onions. The Birria taco was good. The Burrito de Birria huge and filling. It is difficult to eat by hand and also difficult to eat cut and eat on paper. Would have been better served in a bowl or plate. But I applaud their use on non-plastic tableware. Chips and salsa are a la carte. They were fresh and the salsa tangy. They offer Pepsi products, beer and assorted margaritas which looked very good. The restrooms are beautiful with petrified wood sinks. They offer drive-thru meals, have a few breakfast options. There is also a kid's menu. They are opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service is nice and efficient. The pozole arrived screaming hot with melt in your mouth meat and peppers I could see. It arrived with the normal fixings but also a dark molasses looking syrup. It tastes really smoky and enhanced the soup. Daughter loved her burria and said it was so juicy it didn't need the consommé (it didn't come with it) . Hubby had the pastor torta. Been here three times now, and have ordered a variety of things. Everything is very fresh and made to order. Good quality ingredients, guacamole is really well made, chips are fresh and crispy. All three visits were at the drive through. Milanese torta was really, really good, although I might ask them to skip the beans because it made it a little soggy after my drive home. Birria tacos were really good, chicken torta was tasty and not dry, lingua tacos were delicious. Only negative was the carnitas (burrito) and pastor (torta) were a little too fatty for my tastes - might have gotten it at the end of the run. This is an elevated experience for this particular part of Michigan Road, so I appreciate the effort. When I visited on a Sunday afternoon after church, I did not know it was a "real" restaurant because it is in a fast food shell. When you enter the store, the decor raises your expectations a bit, but you order at a counter from a menu above the worker, and that made the prices feel high for the takeaway experience I was getting. I was really hoping that the food would be so delicious I would be able to give them a great review, but I actually found the beef taco to be bland. The fish taco was more tasty. There were other diners sitting at tables who seemed happy enough so perhaps other items on the menu are more memorable. Loved that the food is fresh, not just assembled. There is a drive-thru and you can order at the counter, online, or by phone. The interior is very attractively decorated, tables, chairs, and booths are solid and comfortable. We've been to Quesa Tacos on Michigan Rd. about a half dozen times, starting four months after they opened (to give a place a little time to work out any kinks from New-ness). It's clean and a comfortable place. The staff people who have taken our orders at the counter have been a bit quiet and distant at first, likely trained to be very attentive to what the customer orders, and precise (a v good thing). And every one of them has been warm and friendly a bit later one (like delivering your food or answering questions). We've only eaten tacos there, with a few takeout orders; everything traveled home just fine and seemed just as good as eating at the restaurant. We've had plenty of the carne asada, the pollo, carnitas and a few birria -- all super tasty, and enhanced by the salsa we get at the salsa bar. They must have a few new people who are pros in that kitchen now, as the portion size and presentation have both gone up in quality in recent weeks -- from good or very good to excellent. Last week we saw a big dinner of fried red snapper coming out from the kitchen, w/ salad, rice, beans, and it was impressive ... a meal for two or more, and I think only $24 (July 2025). We are definitely going to try that soon. And, we'll be trying the shrimp and fish tacos, as well. As long as the quality stays this good, and the place clean, the staff efficient, Quesa Tacos will have a long residency there. read more
