It is so good especially with the roasted sour cream and the avocado salsa! My fiancé usually gets the one with the most meat, the chili Verde is a good option. At the new Tulare spot I ordered two orders of the chile verde quesadilla, at first I thought I was given the wrong order my quesadilla had the most only two small pieces of chile verde but oddly the meat was chicken.... Was a huge fan of this place, the quesadillas were delicious. I'm not sure if something changed during the move, management-wise, but I had previously never had an issue with the cooks accommodating my food allergy. This past time I ate here, like usual, I had stated that I had a gluten allergy and needed my food prepared with that in mind before placing my order. Everything looked normal, and tasted like it should, but I had a severe allergic reaction upon leaving the restaurant. I was terribly sick for 48 hours afterwards, which led me to believe that the exposure was beyond a slight cross-contamination. If ingredients had changed, or if allergies can no longer be accommodated for; it should state that on the menu clearly next to the 'gluten free' option(or the gluten free label should be removed altogether). I am beyond disappointed that such a great restaurant would degrade so quickly in their food handling practices, I will likely never return here again in fear of getting sick. read more

This is my first impression review. I at there for the first time the other day. The Mix is really a fun little spot on Main Street. Everyone has their sign up except Quesadilla Gorilla. When I went in, I actually had to ask someone where they were. It is unusual that the bar is staffed, but the food part has a closed look. Anyway, the server was friendly and walked me through how to order. I like their one-price menu whether you order something off the menu or "build your own." I have no comment on price. It $13 for what you get. The food was very good and a good portion. Nice sauces. My lack of 5-star is do have my usual complaint that fast food and fast casual (which this is) are showing "suggested tips" when you pay by card. What I really did not like is the start at 18%, and going over 20%. Of course, a person can pick No Tip or Select Their Own." The whole thing falls under "tip shaming." More appropriate is to range it from 10-12%. That is appropriate for fast casual. If I was paying cash, I would have put $1 in the tip jar (more like 8%.). Now, as a new customer, there is a 42% chance that I will go a second time. About the same for the third time. The third time odds are around 75%. So, I have to consider the food vs the tip shaming in my decision. read more

I decided to check out The Mix in Visalia ca, I got quesadilla gorilla. As i'm eating it, I start to bite on something very hard. Thought it might have been a bone from the chicken but started to seem too hard to eat. I decided to spit it out and turns out to be a staple. I was chewing on that staple for a good 5 seconds. When I go and let the worker know. It seemed like he did not care and that it was normal for there to be a staple in my food. He only offered to give me my money back or remake the food, when it reality he should've gave me my money back and remade the food. I could've made a scene and tell the costumers behind me what I found before they ordered food but I decided not to. It's a big deal though to me because what if a child got that in their food and it became a choking hazard. Probably won't be returning there. I ate here on a recent trip to Visalia/Sequoia NP. Seeing that it had the best reviews in town, naturally it was my first choice. To be honest, I don't understand how all of these reviews are so good. I'm all for supporting local businesses but the food here was bad. Not sure how you can justify calling something a "quesadilla" if the main ingredient (queso) is hard to find. These quesadillas had little to no cheese. Chicken, fajitas, sauces had no really flavor. Hats off for the shredded beef though, that was pretty good. All in all, I was very upset to have to pay $30+ for a few pieces of tortilla and a teaspoon of other ingredients. Oh and FYI the gluten free options (which is an extra charge) is made on a corn tortilla. So essentially you are paying more for less food. read more

Quesadilla Gorilla was just not my thing. The tiny place to order was cramped which was uncomfortable and awkward. While watching the employees prepare food it didn't seem overly clean and tidy. It was hot in there. Only seating was outside- tables were dirty, the trash cans were overflowing, and even in the cold of winter, flies lingered while we were eating. When given our food, we were not told about where to find utensils or napkins. That was back inside near the prep area. Again, having customers come near the kitchen is not a healthy idea. Quesadillas were stuffed with food, almost in a glutenous manner. I ate one slice of my Evan Boling and took the rest home. Hubby ate the leftovers, but he wasn't very excited about it. Indeed some good quesadillas. I've had QG bookmarked for over a year now as I tried to visit Sequoia last December but there was too much rain and snow. Fast forward to 2017. QG didn't disappoint! Their quesadillas were freshly made with fresh ingredients. Mind you, no Latinos were working in-house, the quesadillas were the bomb. Add their salsas on it and you're good to go. Pick 2 salsas from a choose of about 6-7 salsas (I tried their cilantro and avocado salsas). Also order their #3 beef quesadillas and a couple orders of their #5 plain cheese quesadillas. All were good. My only gripe was the limited dine-in tables. They also didn't have an XL black Quesadilla Gorilla t-shirt for me, I wanted to take a shirt back to LA. This was my first time visiting their Visalia location but second time trying their food (my first encounter with this little place of heaven was at their food truck at the Exeter Farmers Market about 3 weeks ago.) Today I had the #1 Evan Boiling with a side of habanero, cilantro lime, and guacamole salsa. As a lover of spicy food let me tell you that the habanero salsa did not disappoint- it was SPICY! Not recommended for children or those who normally don't eat spicy food or past the Taco Bell mild sauce. The cilantro lime was my husbands and I absolute favorite! So rich and flavorful and compliments any quesadilla so well! The avocado salsa was good but gets totally outshined by the other 2 salsas in my opinion. Now to the quesadilla- lets start with the huge tortilla. If your not starving one quesadilla is totally shareable since it's large enough to be sliced in 4 large slices. But if your like me a complete foodie and want more to love by all means get one for yourself. The tortilla was super crunchy on the outside soft on the inside- cilantro lime chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection.
