Checked out the new location the other night and it's definitely an upgrade from the last location. The service was much better than my last visit, but it was packed so it took a while for the food to come out and it was loud in there. The food was great but I didn't like the presentation of it. I'll always be back for the food!

After celebrating my birthday in Puerto Rico last weekend, I wanted to keep the Puerto Rican food vibe going after hearing great things from a close friend and let's say they did not disappoint. Our server, Karla recommended some great options and provided stellar service. I had Alcapurrias de carne as the appetizer. It was fairly good but wouldn't be something I would order again. I really enjoyed the Carne Frita Mofongo here more than in on the island of Puerto Rican and that probably is because they use more garlic here (I love garlic/onions).

Excellent drinks especially the Sangria I never knew a restaurant that served a half pour of sangria, but you are served a half pour during Happy Hour and a little more when it's not happy hour. I caught on fast and ordered the pitcher of Sangria. We were seated at the bar in front of open concept kitchen. We could watch the chef in action. It was a great experience. The food was definitly a hit, we came back 2 days in a row. We ordered the pastelillos, pulled pork and a tostones dish. Not a bad spot for some authentic spanish flair.

Food was made fresh. We sat at the bar and the bartender taking care of us was super friendly and made recommendations. The decor was cute and the music was lively. Just a suggestion: The shrimp in that garlic oil...amazing

Great service; good food. My wife has been craving oxtail stew so we went to check this place out. Be aware, you'll be looking for street parking but it's not impossible in this area. The setting is very pleasant, and even better with the staff engagement. The server and owner (?) checked on us several times, making us feel very much welcomed. My mofongo con carne frita was delicious. My wife's oxtail stew was decent but slightly salty and a bit pricey (only one large oxtail); my son's El OG was also very good. Large portion with the El OG. Bottom line, I'm down for going back, as the food was good and the service fantastic. I would recommend not getting the oxtail stew though. And one word of caution. There's a 20% service charge regardless of party size, which I'm not a fan of. But that's not for discussing here. Just an opinion.

We had lechoncito to start, some mofongo for main, and then some coffee with coquito and a pitorro cafe for dessert. This food was amazing and I can't wait to keep coming back to explore the rest of the menu!

Lovely, cozy little spot for outstanding Puerto Rican food! This cute, hole-in-the-wall spot is located on the second floor of a long row of townhomes-turned-businesses in Shaw. My friend and I snagged a spot in the window bay, and it was so nice to be able to look out over the street as we ate and chatted. For our appetizer, we split the grilled shrimp with smashed plantains, which was outstanding. The shrimp were tender and juicy, and the garlic sauce was super flavorful. You can never go wrong with a good smashed plantain, and Qui Qui's were no different -- they were slightly chewy and very lightly sweet, with a lovely crunch on the outside. My main was quite similar; I ordered the shrimp mofongo, which was just another amazing iteration of shrimp with plantains. The shrimp were once again perfectly tender, with a slight snap as you bit into them. The shrimp, as well as the mashed plantains, did a great job soaking up all the flavor from the broth. They topped it off with a few pickled onions and herb oil, which was a great hit of freshness to brighten up the otherwise heavy dish.

This place was amazing. Right along Georgia Ave about 5 blocks from Petworth Metro. I specifically was looking at the bacalaito and the chuletta Kan Kan. Now I did get the bacalaito which was fantastic. Unfortunately they did not have the chuletta Kan Kan. So I ordered the bistec encebollado. My friend had the sancocho. We ordered the sorrulitos, bacalaito ( comes with one), lenchoncito and and Carne frita as our appetizers. Everything was amazing!! My soul was happy! The music was great had my hips moving in my chair. Oh and I almost forgot the flan de queso was chef's kiss. My friend had the tres Leche. I am not a tres Leche fan, but she loved it!!! I will be going again. Now pretty much all restaraunts in dc are doing this. There is a 20 percent service charge added to your bill. So be prepared. It explains it on the menu. A little hard to swallow... but it is what it is..

    What a joke

Take your money somewhere else. This place is incredibly stingy and clearly more concerned about squeezing every dollar out of customers than giving decent portions. I ordered steak with onions and asked to switch the tostones for maduros. The girl said there would be a $3 upcharge with no explanation. I agreed, only to get home and find three tiny pieces of plantain. If you're going to charge extra, at least make it worth it. Don't act so desperate for money. Ridiculous. Rice was hard steak was tough. Never again.

The whole menu was delicious and the space was lively and fun! We ordered 1/2 dozen oysters, the mofongo camarones, pernil de jaca, and more. The cocktails were fun and all full of ingredients beyond what I stock at home. 4 drinks and a full meal with food to go was $200. I can't wait to go back!

The good was amazing! Service was excellent. Music was on point! If you want to eat here, make sure to make reservations, cuz it gets busy.

Solid food, solid drinks, solid prices. Parking is a nightmare in this part of town so get here early. I think the pictures speak for themselves... enjoy!

The food was fantastic. If you're craving Puerto Rican cuisine that feels like a wonderful home cooked meal made with love, then try Qui Qui. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor and is cozy and inviting atmosphere with music buzzing. The hostess/waitress Tiana was kind,m and attentive, even with a packed restaurant. And the food!!! OMG I ordered the tomahawk pork chop (Chuleta) it was sooo good and flavorful. It came with tostones and red beans and rice. We devoured the plate lol. We also ordered the Mofongo carne with platains which was equally delicious. The sangria was perfect, strong and tasty.

They were crispy, good amount of filling and nice flavor overall. Fantastic. I think they should serve the meal with a bit more rice. The Pernil, pulled pork was sort of dry and unfortunately the large side of garilc mojo sauce (garlic oil) was sideways in the bag and by time I got it home, the oil had all leaked out into the paper bag and onto the floor mat inside my car. The mofongo bites listed as 5 bites, however I only received 4. They were on the sweet side. The masa from the plantain taste too ripe for my liking. I prefer more green plantains in my mofongo. The tostones were pretty good. The pictures made them look a bit larger, but oh well. This was my first time ordering from a ghost kitchen, and the concept is a brilliant idea because you can order from so many cuisines! You can try so many restaurants in one place. Quite amazing.

The Sancocho is amazing. Its a hearty meat stew that in my family we call it the hang over soup or the feel better soup. Growing up if I had the flu or a cold my mama would whip this up. Their soup was good... but I wish it had tripe and more meat in the stew and a bit more seasonings. Would i order it again? Probably not. Mofongo. Something that I absolutely love.. It didn't taste fresh.. the chiacharrones ( fried pork cracklings) was not crispy :( The saving grace was their chicken guisado.. a very hearty chicken stew ... that was a chef kiss. Unfortunately, due to bad past experiences with mofongo from other places, I decided to skip the mofongo and go for a guisada (stew). Generally speaking the beef stew, which was served with beans and rice was decent. However, for my tastes, the stew seemed to be really greasy/fatty. I do not think that I ever had a guisado with so many fat droplets in the "soup". Also, I thought the beef was a bit tough/chewy for a stew; I was expecting the meat to be a bit more tender. While the stew was not horrible, I will say that I was a bit disappointed that I spent $20 on it. Since this is a Domincan restaurant, a little Spanish might go a long way. Overall, I thought the staff was nice. However, this appears to be a place where the staff knows a lot of the customers (or at least the Latino customers), so you might feel a bit like a persona non grata upon entry. However, they'll probably will warm up to you after a few minutes. While I somewhat enjoyed my stew, I really enjoyed my margaritas more. Since I'm still new to the area, I might check out some other Latin/Dominican restaurants before circling back around this restaurant.

The dark warm mood lighting, the corrugated wall, the intimate seating, and of course the small share plates makes for the sexy experience tapas is suppose to be! It is typical of Spanish flavors, heavily relying on high-end cured meats and cheeses, and classics such as croquetas. There is something very special that goes into tapas because its suppose to satisfy you based on good taste over quantity. Large shrimp in a generous skillet of olive oil and slow cooked garlic slices and a iberico mac and cheese are some examples of how they elevate classics we are familiar with. We really liked that they learned into garlic and spice. We found dried Aji Caballero in our meal, great attention to source country. They have a very robust and generous drinks menu. Loved watching others not dining alone and embracing that share quality of the menu design. Perhaps it is not the best tapas I had, I would have liked to see a balance with lighter citrus flavors but maybe that was an ordering issue. At some point, since the menu heavily leans towards rich and decadent, its better to plan around that. Our waitress was amazing, she explained the questions we had on the ingredients and was on it with the refills.
