The staff was very cordial and promptly took me to the initial exam room where they examined my eyes with modern technology and an explanation of everything that was being done. Dr. Strong is highly detail oriented with a friendly demeanor. She listened to my description of what I have been noticing with my glasses over the last year and got me dialed into a new prescription. She and the frames specialist gave me some good advice on how to compare the frames with fit and fashion equally considered. I found this very helpful in navigating their wide variety of frames. I highly recommend Dr. Strong and the entire team at First Sight Vision Care for all of your optical needs.

I saw Dr. Strong for an annual check-up. She said my eyes were "misaligned". Dr. Strong hadn't…read morementioned my eyes being "misaligned" during last year's exam (no prior eye drs had ever said that either) so I assumed it was in relation to my need for bifocals or progressives, which we discussed for the first time this year. She said I'd benefit from a special type of lens called Neurolens but it was not covered by insurance and costs about $1000! After the appointment, I wanted to learn more about the lens, as anyone would before they consider spending that much money on something. I became concerned when I saw "misalignment" means strabismus which is being cross-eyed. At this point my curiosity about a lens turned to worrying about what was going on with my eyes so I scheduled an appointment with a strabismus specialist. I went to the appointment prepared with a list of questions like what's causing my eyes to cross, is there anything that can be done to keep it from progressing, etc. The doctor examined my eyes and found no misalignment or other issues that would justify the use of Neurolens. This experience has been very frustrating. I can't help but feel this was a sales pitch to sell Neurolens.

Over a decade after my first review, they still treat you like family the moment you walk through the door. I'm actually still wearing frames and high-quality lenses I got from them years ago, and when I stopped in, they adjusted them for me on the spot for free with a smile. Hands down the best customer service and product quality in the area. From the thorough exams and frame fitting to the lifetime care and adjustments, Annapolis Opticians sets the absolute standard. I have worn glasses for over 4 decades and have seen multiple providers. I wanted this to be "my…read moreplace". The location was perfect and I was happy to support a minority owned business. The appointment process and check in was timely and easy. I felt from my first interaction with Dr. Stanchel, she was cold and off putting. It could have been a bad day for her but she never warmed up and made me feel cared for. I knew I would not return when she was untruthful with me. When she provided me with an updated prescription for my glasses and I asked her for my pupillary distance measurement because I order lots of glasses online and that is required. She told me she couldn't give it to me?? I was unsure why as it is needed to order any pair of glasses. It felt like the problem was I wasn't ordering her IMO over priced frames so instead of saying that, she said she didn't have it. Well how about get it? I have had multiple providers give me that information whether I was ordering glasses from them or not. If I had been ordering glasses with her that day how would that have happened without my PD and where would she get it from? I cannot support dishonesty.

The exam was thorough...a lot more so than I anticipated but I appreciated it. Nice frames to choose from and about a week for the glasses to come in. More expensive than I anticipated but I didn't have a good reference to work from. Even still, based off the experience, I'll be back. In fact, my husband needs an exam so we'll get around to that eventually w/ Dr. Stanchel. Only thing that would be nice is if we have the option to choose an appt online for the eye glass pickup.

I would go nowhere else I don't have a standard contact lens prescription, but she has been able to fit me with no problem, and she takes care to ensure that the fit is correct, and that I will be comfortable with the prescription before the lenses are ordered. She is very professional with great people skills. As for glasses, Dr. Doud gets some very stylish frames. I could spend hours just trying on frames. Her staff is helpful, courteous, and very efficient at tweaking the fit. You could go to some of these discount chains and get cheaper glasses, but that is exactly what you are getting...cheap glasses with all the attendant problems of incorrect lenses, poor fit, and frames that are no good after a year. I've been there and done that, and prefer what I get at Dr. Doud's office.
