## Review: Zero Stars for Zero Accountability **Title: Avoid Quick Grill Japan - Incompetent Management & Missing Food** I would give this place zero stars if I could. I ordered two of their "2-for-1" deals through DoorDash, expecting four items total. Instead, I received only two. When I called to resolve the "mistake," I was met with the most unprofessional "manager" I've ever encountered. Rather than taking responsibility for a clear fulfillment error, the manager told me it "wasn't his problem" and told me to take it up with DoorDash. He then tried to gaslight me by claiming I had to manually order the items twice to get the deal--which is mathematically and logically nonsensical for a 2-for-1 promotion. I even tested this logic with other restaurants nearby; surprise, surprise, that's not how it works anywhere else. The manager's refusal to acknowledge a simple screw-up resulted in me spending an hour on the phone, frustrated and hungry. While DoorDash eventually stepped up and provided a refund, the restaurant itself showed zero integrity. **Bottom line:** If you enjoy paying full price for half your meal and being told it's your fault by a manager who clearly doesn't understand the basics of customer service (or math), this is the place for you. My fav restaurant was closed... so I stopped here. Big mistake!! I had the strawberry smoothy.. it was alright. I did not like the Steak Teriyaki. They serve rice and veggies. We were on Staten Island working on a Saturday and stopped here for a "Quick" lunch. Well for staters, not so quick. Yes it is a QSR, but it took about 15 minutes to get our lunch and there was only one other couple in the restaurant. Did I say restaurant? It's in a shopping center, so it's really a store transformed into a restaurant. I'm pretty sure the long wait was due to a breakdown in communication between the person who took the order and the cook. However, I had the shrimp and chicken and it was really good. Comes with white rice but for $0.50 you can get fried rice. Plenty of food too. My wife had vegetable tempura which she also liked. Between the two of us we had enough left over to have one lunch the next day. Next time I'm on Staten Island and in this area, yes I will try it again. The spicy Kani salad was alright, tasted more like cold slaw with a few pieces of avocado. It was $6 and I didn't know until I ordered it. I definitely would not get that again. I want to try their teriyaki chicken though! Service: the servers were nice and wait was about 5-7 minute pretty average. Price; the quickgrill was $8 and Cali roll was $4-5. I have ordered pickup from here only a few times, so don't have a basis for delivery yet. However service and food has been really good for the times I have ordered takeout! It's definitely not "gourmet" or authentic Japanese by any means, but it is still tasty for its price point and hits the spot. I like the California roll. It is different from a traditional California roll but unique and has a good flavor. Avocado could be fresher. The salmon teriyaki is tasty and has a good texture, is prepared the way I like it and similar to more expensive Japanese spots. They don't acknowledge anyone when they come in, rude as duck. Not only that they allowed people to skip me before taking my order after I had been there five ten minutes before anyone else. I waited 15 minutes to not even get acknowledged. This place serves the kind of hibachi chicken teriyaki that you would typically find in a mall food court. And I find that to be a great thing. I ordered delivery from here on a whim and it's always been solid. Fast delivery. Fresh hot food for a great price. Definitely a reliable spot if you want something hearty and delicious. The place is gorgeous!! The food here is amazing!! You can taste the food's freshness the moment you dig in. My problem with other places is that sometimes an ingredient might not taste fresh and good, however this place manages to make their food nice, fresh and tasty! I rely on my fellow yelpers but they really let me down with this one. I got take out from this place tonite for the first time. I spent $35 and none of the food was edible. That's right - none of it. From my beef teriyaki which tasted like they dumped a can of Alpo over the rice and then poured the entire shaker of black pepper over it to the dumplings that appeared to be stuffed with hot dog meat. I say meat because heaven only knows what kind. I sure couldn't tell. To my kid's chicken teriyaki which had gristle and a small piece of bone in it. The whole meal went right into the garbage. Some of these reviews have to be by people who are either lying or have no tastebuds. I loved my food, I'm not sure if they just opened or maybe just updated their delivery services but I saw it pop up for the first time on my ubereats because they were a part of a bogo free deal. If they were on my food delivery apps before then I just never noticed them, but now I will be a frequent customer. Their delivery fee was a little high on Uber (6.49) so I went to doordash but when I tried to place my order it told me they were out of my range so I went to postmates and I just so happened to have a free delivery code so honestly it was meant to be. I was originally going to get a bento box, but I really just wanted rice meat and sushi so I went with a regular order of chicken teriyaki and a spicy Cali roll on the side. For some reason on postmates they don't have an option for white rice so I had to call and tell them but they were very accommodating. When the food got here, I opened it and that smell! That food court teriyaki smell, lol can't beat that. I actually think that their food is better than Saku at the mall and that's been a go to of mine for years even when I didn't live on Staten Island. The meat at Quick Grill is more trustworthy in my opinion and the spicy Cali roll was amazing. That sauce they put on top was not spicy mayo but it was way better, just plain heat without the mayo taste, didn't even need wasabi. We ordered delivery from this new place last night. The service was extremely fast! It had just been snowing for hours and the food got here in 20 minutes flat. The price was awesome - we had two teriyaki combos, side of fried rice, three drinks, two sushi told and 5 sashimi for like $25 delivered. The chicken teriyaki was delicious. It tastes almost like bourbon chicken from the mall. Lots of veggies and good rice. The fried rice was great too. The sushi? Pass. The California roll tasted odd. My office orders from Quick Grill Japan at least 3 times a week. The food is good and delivery is fast. I highly recommend the bento box. It is larger than I thought: it is a fantastic deal for the amount of food you get and I enjoyed every piece. There a dine-in/pick up coupons on the menu just FYI. I was referred to this place by the folks af Richmond Behavioral,it's in a mini mall with a Stop and Shop,a 99cents Store,Dunkin Donuts,and a few other shops.As I luv Japanese food I was looking forward to it.the place has a lot of seating and seems popular with the locals.The menus are all laminated so you really can't take it with you.The minute I sat down I realized this was not truly a Japanese Restaurant.The guys behind the counter were speaking a language that I didn't reconize,but the moment of truth was when I ordered the "chicken teriyaki" which came with white rice and vegetables.the chicken was covered in a salty,sweet brown sauce which is usually used in poor quality fried rice.I personally try to avoid excessive salt in food.I thought it was gross and I wound up giving it to some birds.Staten Islanders please come to Manhattan or even Queens to sample good Asian food.Oh they also make smoothies I might try that next time. read more

Decided to check this place out based on Yelp reviews and let me tell you I was not disappointed. I had the chicken teriyaki without rice, which was still delish and plentiful. I was stuffed! My son had ordered 2 Quick Grill Rolls and it was amazing! Momma always get's the first piece and thank God he ordered 2 because he ate them all.
