Sushi rolls is good. Sushi pieces, many fish is tough. If you get Sushi deluxe with 12 pieces, you will get 6 different fish 2 times and tuna roll, and soup. Tuna is very heavy and fishy, and dark. Get yourself separate pieces, you will be better off. Recommendation to staff is to not bring check, while people are still eating. Otherwise, service was good. read more

The food is good and the service is great. Wish they would have and use gluten-free soy sauce for those who have gluten intolerance. Average japanese spot. I ordered takeout from here with my friends before for a sushi night. I also came here one time for dine in and it was fine. I wasn't highly impressed overall but I was satisfied. We ordered a bunch of rolls -- salmon avocado, eel avocado, spicy crunchy tuna, alaska roll, etc. they were all fresh, but kind of small on size. The pricing is decent. It's a good place for sushi, and they have some great lunch specials for those looking for a good deal. service needs work. No one is attentive, sashimi was standing by the bar for 20 min at least before they paid attention to me or it. I don't like my raw fish waiting that long. I also saw them clean something off our appetizer plate before serving it to us. I recommend trying some place else. There are tons In the area. Don't Order from here unless you want hair in your food. I'm highly disappointed as this isn't the first problem I've encountered with genki sushi. As i read the review below me, i can't imagine how or why someone else had hair in their food the same day i did. I started with a salad after a couple of bites i encountered a piece of hair. I put the salad to the side and before i can open my sushi container, i noticed a piece of hair in my sushi as well. Small and cozy, complete with a fish tank upon entry. The food is fresh, and prices reasonable for sushi. I am a fan of their Bento Box. You get a nice amount of food and variety. Nicely decorated. I've been here a few times over the years and it's never been anything special. Just ok, but never had any issues until now. Sat there for close to 30 mins without having anyone come try to take our order. There were 3 other tables in the restaurant that were all there before us so it was not busy. Plenty of staff to help but nobody actually does anything. I wound up walking out because the service was awful. The first time I've ever done something like that! I can see from other recent reviews that service here has been a consistent issue. Little bro and I went on sushi date at Genki. We got there right after their lunch specials which was kind of a bummer but the prices weren't that bad. Service was prompt, perhaps too eager like can I please FINISH my food before you take my plate away?! Uh BIG PET PEEVE! I had a Sapporo, shared some seaweed salad, and ordered a few rolls for the both of us. Bonus points to the chefs for making me a roll that I like that wasn't on the menu (salmon and mango roll- seriously awesome), the tuna roll was okay but mostly rice which overpowered the tiny piece of tuna, yellowtail and jalepeno roll had a nice kick to it, and brother enjoyed his eel roll and finishing up the rest of the rolls. All in all, I have a few favorite places in DC but have yet to find a sushi place at home in Staten that compare. Today is Wednesday, 3/7 and I came to Genki with six other friends. The only reason why I came back is because their service yesterday was really good and the food was good too. The waiter was super friendly (Asian female with glasses). So that means we came here two days in a row. We ordered kani salad both days because that's my favorite appetizer. Today, however, the kani salad had a spoiled milk taste and it was sour. It smelled rotten too. We just told one of the waiters (Asian baldish guy with glasses) that the mayo in the kani salad probably went bad. He kept arguing with us and he had a really stinking bad attitude. As he was bringing the kani salad in, he gave us a disgusted face. He brought the kani salad into the kitchen, came back out and said "it doesn't taste bad. Everyone tasted it". It shouldn't have been big deal. customers were just kindly saying the kani salad tasted sour... instead this guy argued with us and had a bad attitude about it. Some people also said the Asian bald guy with glasses is probably the manager. And as the manager, you should have better service. I have friends who come here really often! But i will never step foot into this restaurant or eat their food ever again. Customer Service is really important. Your food could be mediocre, but if you had great service and friendly, people will come back. Maybe something the restaurant could improve on. Considering how often my friends come here, it's sad to say, they will never go to Genki again either. read more

Yum! One of the better sushi locations on Staten Island. Enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my Mom here recently. The sushi is good but not great. I'm pretty sure they became popular because of their chicken fried rice with the "special sauce" which definitely lives up to the hype. I'd come here just for the appetizers! They don't know or want nicely treat family! We came tired and hungry. We were almost in empty room. We been with my toddler and my daugther 8 y.o. My boy gave us hard time so i was sometimes missing from the table. So waitresses just decided to IGNORE us purely! On the top they BLAME me for trying to calm my kid!
