She went to the soda machine and i went to the coffee island. As I glanced around the place did not strike me as being up to 7/11 standards of cleanliness. I have seen worse so that didn't stop me. I pulled out their largest cup for my coffee and promptly put three creams into the cup. I go to the "strong" blend and put my cup under it and pulled the lever. Nothing empty. OK. I went to the regular blend put my cup under it pulled the lever. Nothing empty. I walked out and Mrs. K. purchased her soda. She mentioned to an "owner employee" that the coffee was empty. Her reply was oh. Since we were the only customers in the store I would have assumed she was not so overwhelmed with business to brew some coffee.

The gas is no longer Phillips 66, it is now Mobil. The signage and retail products inside is now all On The Run. During the transition, I strayed and started going to the QT up the street. i quickly loss interest in their offerings and customer service and started to come back here. I am so glad that I did. It is actually better now then when it was U Gas and I really liked them. I've needed to grab an easy breakfast/lunch for work and have been impressed with the offerings from OTR. For quick and easy packaged food they're better then those at QT and what was previously offered by Gigi's at U Gas. Also, I enjoy your coffee way more. Customer service is cheerful. So stopping and getting my morning cup of joe, is now a morning ritual on work days. Also, who doesn't like a Krispy Kreme donut, they're delivered fresh everyday and are displayed right next to the coffee. I'm glad to see they kept the beer cave offering a large selection of craft beers. They also kept a decent variety of liquors and wine. Along with the other everyday groceries they offer, this On The Run is a good convenience store. Also, sometimes I forget to plan a head and need to grab a quick and easy lunch from their prepared foods. They offer a variety of salads and deli sandwiches. They also offer a variety of small containers of fresh raw veggies or fresh fruits - so I can make the gas station lunch healthy. This location is in my hood and has become my place for morning coffee. I start my day at 4:30am and besides a gas station, not to many places are open for me to grab a cup of Joe. The coffee is fairly good for a convenience store and fresh donuts are also available. I need that caffeine kick and sugar buzz to start the day. This place is also where I first discovered Billy Goat Chips. For that, I will be forever grateful. Billy Goat Chips is truly a chip that you just can't eat one. The staff here is mechanical. I think they could be more friendly, but they get the job done. I guess selling cups of coffee, Slurpee's and Lottery tickets all day can get repetitive. I stop by, make my return in the very clean Mens room and go on my way. Don't worry, I make a purchase. I feel it is the least I can do, since I used their facilities. I typically grab another cold drink, or a package of my favorite candy, M&M's. My recent visit gave me a shock. I saw a cabinet with liquor and bottles of wine. Is something new, or have I just not noticed it in my regular QT's? If it is a new offering, I am sure they'll have a buyer for it, not matter the price. Its prime location makes it easy for me to visit when I'm getting off 44 or getting on to return back to IL. The Kitchen and retail area is so much bigger than the one closest to my home in IL. Almost makes me jealous, because we all know size does matter. The restrooms are always clean, which is appreciated. With the volume of traffic they see, that is an accomplishment. My last visit, I had to use my handkerchief to dry my hands, the dispenser was empty. When I stepped out of the restroom and told the first associate I saw, he immediately sprinted into action. He stopped stocking and went to resolve the issue. Staff is cordial when checking out. To be honest, I've never seen an unfriendly QT employee. It's clean and attractive. The pump worked great and no issues with my credit card. The wash was dirty however, towels were empty in some and present in others. The squeegee's most likely need to be replaced as well with lots of use. On one visit trash was overflowing, but others it was fine. On another visit an employee was emptying trash I did go inside on a recent and service and as very friendly. The brightest spot was the men's room which was fresh, clean and new. Everything worked and trash was maintained. Proper supply of toilet paper was present. I'm sure I will be back. 4.5 rounding down with pump wash issue and trash.

This is only one of many instances where their lines are long, where counter staff are abrupt, where shelves are disorganized, where the floor is dirty, where the bathroom has no toilet paper, when staff walk around talking about going on a break, eating snacks and shuffling around. The parking lot is a snarl. I've given them plenty of times to redeem themselves to little avail (I will say there are a few staff members who go above and beyond, but they're rarely on shift).
