Frequent visitor. Upstairs for a few drinks, peanuts and a burger or fish & chips. Nice deck for sunny days, out of the wind if need be. Inside lots of TV's for those in need, Efficent wait staff and warm food. Works for me and my clients. Down stairs more formal, no peanuts. Wife loves the specials. I have my favorites which are consistantly excellent. Reservation work best for me as I get to know the staff and they always have meet my expectations with the best tables and service. We liked this place. We ate in the upstairs eating area which is a bar that's really informal with numerous TVs and a good size eating area. They gave us a basket of peanuts (shells all over the floor) along with quick service even though it was crowded. If you try the chowder get the cup not the bowl, it's way way to much but good. We got the fish and chips which we both liked. You get two good size filets, plenty of fries, and a good serving of their cole slaw - all good. Really liked our server, he was always on the go. Can't comment on the outside seating but liked what I saw. Peaked at the downstairs restaurant and it looked nice and a lot more subdued. Would go again. read more

I've eaten at Quinn's many times in both the upstairs and downstairs dining area. Most times it was great and that is what kept me coming back. Tonight's dinner to celebrate a birthday was so disappointing that I don't think I'll ever return. The waiter took our order and when it was brought to our table, two of the dinners had the wrong items and all the seafood was all over cooked. The vegetables were cold and under cooked and the service was terrible. When we paid the bill, we all paid cash and one person asked to have her payment of $27 put on her card. When they brought it back, the server had charged the entire amount on her card and the cash was missing. When we went to the manager to have it voided, he treated us like we did something wrong and did not offer an apology. Too bad, I used to like going there, but never again. read more

i shadowed their for a day as a cook the way the chef and cook cook is awfull there was a time were we were frying chicken for a wings order of 16 as he was switching the wings from frying basket 3 fell he said no big deal and picked it up from the floor and served it . a lot of cross contamination happening raw chicken on hands touching cooked fish and hands werent been washed properly and the kitchen floor was filthy health inspectors need to head their fast read more

The food was good. It was really busy and we waited for at least 30 minutes before the waiter came to our table. However, the waiter was very friendly and apologized for the wait. He was very prompt with the food and refilled our bread quickly. I tried the clam chowder and it was a little sour. For my entree I ordered a "bucket" of steamed clams and black mussels. They gave a generous amount of food and it was delicious. The decor was absolutely wonderful (it matched the ocean theme). We lucked out and was seated next to the window with a beautiful view of the ocean. This is a great place to hang out with your friends and eat good seafood. read more

James and Chris rock. they can get pretty packed pretty quickly, but they hold it down. only down side is the new ownership seems to be making changes to the food, but not the menu. read more

So we stopped at Quinn's lighthouse earlier in the year they were more than a dozen tables that were open we waited about 10 minutes just for the maître d' to tell us that all the tables were reserved even though we were the only ones in the lobby waiting... that's when we decided to leave as we were told the wait was at least an hour for a half empty restaurant...so yesterday we were looking for a place for lunch and decided to give Quinn's another try, we walked in the place was pretty empty and we waited five minutes and read the menu and after reading the menu there was still no host to greet us or seat us... we kindly left and after two attempts we still haven't tried their food but fortunately we just saw Quinn's lighthouse on the TV show check please and two out of the three food testers came in a big thumbs down... One person said the food was subpar the other person said the service was horrible!!! I rest my case I will not ever return to Quinn's lighthouse nor will I recommend it to anyone! read more

Waitress Nice But Needs Educating... We ate upstairs in the pub out on the deck. I would have given this place three stars as my husband's and my orders were fine...decent portion and tasty. HOWEVER my son's order of Fish and Chips was pretty measly for $17!!! Two very small pieces of fish and fairly small helping of fries. At 19 and a growing guy we left Quinn's only to stop on the way home to get him a burger... Ridiculous. So not only was it a poor value but when I gave feedback to the waitress she replied in such an inept way that while I acknowledged this is not fine dining...her response was just plain dumb claiming she didn't own the place so there was nothing she could do...kind of laughing it off. She then said if she mentioned it to the management they wouldn't care what she had to say...well I indicated for her to tell the management that was a customer's input. At any rate even if the management doesn't have interest in customer feedback her response was sheer stupidity at best. You never want a customer to not feel heard. Just may be quite awhile to come back to this place. read more

I haven't written bad reviews and hate to do this for Quinn's where I have come for many years for many BD celebrations, lunch and dinner. This time it was bad. FIsh and Chips were dry, open faced salmon sandwich was on plain white bread and the fish was tasteless. The BD cake (yes it still is complementary) did not have the nice presentation that they usually have with the chocolate dribbles. I am sure this sounds all negative and childish but it was very disappointing. The last straw was when I had finished (first), the waiter asked if I wanted to box the leftovers. The only problem was two other people were still eating and he reached over one of them to grab my plate. Same thing when another person finished: again reached over the third guest to grab the plate for leftovers. Just plain rude and there was no one in the restaurant at the time. There were new menus with higher prices which makes me think there has been a change in ownership. Very, very disappointing for a restaurant that one could rely on for good food, good service and a nice atmosphere. Won't go again for a long time or until I see better reviews..... read more

Good food ambiance and a place for those who just want to sit back, enjoy the view and have some beer, clams and throwing peanut shells all over the ground. Great selection of beers and food. I had the Dinky Doo seafood stew. The soup was good, but I had more broth than seafood. It was suppose to have rice, but I think I only got a two tablespoons full of rice in the stew, But there was plenty of seafood. When I say seafood I mean shrimp, not the jumbo kind, but more of the small kind. There was calamari, couple of clams and muscles. My favorite was the deep fried calamari and the white sauce that came with it. I probably should have stuck to the appetizer. I gave it a three because of the environment that surrounds the restaurant, the staff was attentive and even though my stew lacked some seafood, I enjoyed the serving size and taste of the food. The last 2 times I went to Quinn's I was by myself, had a reservation, and ate at the downstairs dining room. Even though the place was almost empty, the service was not good. Fortunately I was not in a hurry, had something to read, and was happy to be "ignored" rather than rushed out. This place changed ownership some years ago; the owner retired to Mexico. The menu is pretty much the same and I have never had a problem with the food or drinks. Looks like the prices have gone up a bit, but they are still fair and reasonable for what you get. My main criticism would be that they seriously need to replace the carpeting, flooring, chairs and tables; these are very worn and dated. They really need to modernize the dining room a bit - look a bit more sleek and elegant. The views and location are excellent. When we used to come here, often the place would be full, with people waiting to be seated. I'm not sure what's keeping folks away. I'll be back, and hopefully they won't ignore me next time! read more

My wife and I hadn't been to Quinn's in four years. We simply "forgot" about it probably because it's a bit off the main thorough fares in Oakland/Piedmont where we live. But my wife saw a brief review of places on the Oakland Embarcardero and we both remembered Quinns. We went on a Wednesday night and of course ate upstairs -- the menus are the same both at the more sedate and antiseptic downstairs restaurant and the bar with the peanut shells on the floor upstairs. Certainly during sunset (which is when we came the last time) the peanut shells win with the view of the water and the sun. Anyway, Quinn's delivers in terms of both a very casual comfortable atmosphere and a very large seafood oriented menu. We had a bucket of clams (I took the clam juice home and had it a week later -- it was still delicious). A seafood Newburg was so large for the two of us that we also took some of that home as well. Service was a bit slow but very personable. I just had a meal at Commis where for two it cost $270. I could eat at Quinn's and enjoy my self much much more five times for the cost of one meal at the one star Michelin Commis. You do the math. read more

Soooo disappointing! My boyfriend and I went there on Valentine's Day. Both the food and the service were a 3 at best, on a scale of 1-10. I know Prime Rib is supposed to be "rare," but it practically walked off the plate and had an inch of fat around the entire edge. My buffalo burger was supposed to be 8 oz., and if it was 3 oz., that was generous. Plus, it was way overcooked. I had to ask for condiments and the waitress practically argued with me when I ordered a caesar salad. This was because I did not want fries, and a regular salad was supposed to come with it in place of the fries. The "caesar salad" she brought me was in a soup cup and was only the yellow-white part of the romain lettuce (no green at all), with a carrot curl and half a cherry tomato on it! In what world is this a caesar salad! When I asked for the parmesean cheese and crutons, she brought out what looked like a jelly jar with cheese and a plate of STALE crutons! She never even asked if we'd like coffee or dessert after finishing. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

Great food, great service, fun entertainment, and poor security. We had a wonderful time until we came out and our car window was broken out and some items taken. I talked with the security guard at the company across the street and he said this is a regular occurrence here. He suggested to their manager that they at least hire a security guard to patrol the parking area for a week or two until the word gets around so that the criminals won't target the place. Looks like the place makes enough money to have a security guard as other restaurants in the area practice. Too bad because we were really looking to make this a regular stop on our Bay Area trips.. But since this is a regular stop for thieves we would not feel safe without security present. Get parking security Quinn's. Posting a sign that tells customers not to leave valuables in their car is poor customer service and poor safety practice. It is just a matter of time before thieves get bold enough to target your customer direct instead of their vehicles. read more
