I placed the order via door dash for pick up so I can't speak too much to the service but I could see the kitchen may have been overwhelmed once we arrived to grab our order. That said, the food was on point! The shrimp in the classic po boy was cooked to absolute perfection. Crispy on the outside with succulent, juicy shrimp on the inside. The bread tasted fresh and came with a good balance of sauce, tomato, and pickles. The crab fries were well portioned and TASY!! I will definitely be back for these!

Yep, Southern Comfort is a solid 4. I had spent 10 days in Alameda and was looking for something different and interesting. This was it. I am a southern boy and love my Cajun food. I was really busy while in town and was thrilled that Grubhub delivered to my address. I ordered fried catfish ans shrimp. The catfish was mild sand perfectly seasoned, The ship was also good, but wish I had tarter sauce. Maybe I missed is. My son wanted Etoufee', but unfortunately, it dropped off of the menu later in the day. We got the seafood gumbo instead and it did not disappoint. I also think I would like hushpuppies in the future as well. Southern Comfort filled my soul! Yeah, I enjoyed my meal very much and will definitely order from them again!

This was a DoorDash order- Seafood from this place is 10/10 but I was very disappointed with their side dishes. I ordered jambalaya and it missed the mark. Tomato disguised as links. It broke my heart. . Brussel sprouts however were amazing if you like them sweet.

Always hits the spot! This time, I wanted a deconstructed WhoDat and man, was it good! Unfortunately, I inhaled it so quickly, I forgot to take pix! LOL Thanks to the always wonderful staff!

While you won't be fooled into thinking you're in Coop's, in New Orleans, the food at Alameda's own Southern Comfort Kitchen is a loving reminder to our times in the Big Easy. The fried oyster po-boy was an excellent execution of the dish, although the hush puppies were a little more like Jiffy corn muffins than I remember from Bourbon Street. The very basic, even austere, cafeteria setting reminds me of family-run places down south. Everything that we tried, and the very helpful and personable staff, makes it easy to return.

I ordered to go and was excited when I opened the lid but was then disappointed when I started eating. While it was flavorful there was not one piece of crawfish in the pasta which basically defeated the purpose of ordering. I will try again but I hope something like this doesn't happen again.

We usually go to Castro valley but this Alameda location didn't miss!!!! Right out the Webster tube legit parking, outside dining and a drive through (chefs kiss) Brought my sister last week and she's hooked!!! I found my new location closer to home The hospitality AMAZING The FOOD MATCHES THE SERVICE Anything on the menu is a go to for me and now Alameda is too See you soon Mark Anthony and Staff

I have eaten several times at Southern Comfort Kitchen Castro Valley and their Food Truck!!! I was aware this location opened up in Alameda 5 months ago. I rolled there today for Dinner and walked in . They were Busy as they have a Drive thru also. They seemed Over Whelmed with the Door Dash Orders . Some of the Kitchen Staff seemed undertrained. Their front Counter staff were stressed out and let the Door Dash Drivers know it . When it was my turn I Ordered a Large Bowl of Gumbo and Catfish and Fries Platter!!! My Order was 113 I waited 30 Minutes for my order and people that ordered after me were getting the orders before me WTF? Dining Room was pretty Dirty!!! Floors needed to be Swept and Tables wiped down. It was Night and Day from their Castro Valley Location!!! When I did get my food ! The Gumbo was Good!!! Just could have been hotter. The Catfish was Fried to Perfection!!! French Fries were Salted to Heavily!!! For these Reasons this is not a Baller On A Budget Approved Establishment

We had the cashier chose 3 of the best meals 50/50 w/catfish, shrimp and over the fries crab! 100% awesome Who Dat Shrimp with fries. Over the top with creamy creole sauce. A must order Crawfish Etouffee. Omg just like orleans! The bomb! And to end the meal being Sunday BEIGNETS. What a way to end a great meal. It was nice and quiet and ambiance was relaxing. Alameda folks, what you waiting for! There's a parking lot and drive thru. We are definitely coming back! Keep up the great food and service!

Ive been here once before while working out in alameda and i fell in love with everything! i came in tonight after work super excited to come here again and have my significant other try this out because he is more of a foodie than me. got there about 9:45 ordered a bit of everything to try and waited about 5 minutes for our food once we got to the window. it's unfortunate to say my 3 stars are due to the very tall gentleman at the window who seemed annoyed at the fact we were there even though they close at 11..... i remembered his friendly face from last time i came here but he was so rude this time... as we finished ordering i said thank you and he forgot to stop the intercom and i heard what he had to say about us "mannn why the f** do people" etc i couldnt catch the rest but i was so shocked at that to begin with.... like wow how rude couldnt even wait to let go of the button before talking smack. once we pulled up i paid, he was kind for a bit and then back to the bitter attitude. he forgot my drink until i had to ask for it , forgot my straw so i asked him for it and then i proceeded to check the bag to make sure there were forks and he had already closed the window, when i got his attention he looked SOOO bothered it made me uncomfortable. i even threw in a "im sorry if its not too much to ask can i get a fork" and he handed me them and proceeded to slam the window in my face loudly. definitely didnt shut casually because the first time it didnt slam like that. overwll the food is so delicious but next time i'll save myself the trip across the bridge. wont be coming back to this location at all. OH and i forgot to mention i made sure to ask for no pickles and they still threw them on there.

Of course me and the bestie had to grab brunch before we headed home. Was a bit thrown off when booking via OpenTable as it comes up as Haus of Chefs, but when I got the concept of hosting local chefs and rotating menus all was smooth. We got a few shareables and entrees and everything was so good. S/o to tik tok for putting us on to some amazing food. We ordered the boudin balls, crab stuffed shrimp, peach cobbler waffle, and catfish/ grits. For drinks, we had the brown sugar mint julep and madame butterfly. My fav items had to be the boudin balls, catfish / grits, and brown sugar mint julep. Presentation was so cute. Add a flower or herb to my drink or plate and I'm yours. Everything was so flavorful, paired nicely together , and wasn't too much. Portion sizes were on point and no need for condiments because sis seasoned the hell out that food! The ambiance is definitely brunch vibes. You can tell it's a local favorite as people were so chill about coming in and just enjoying their meal. Seating includes table and bar seating but no matter your area the service was on point almost little to no waiting and everything was freshly served ! Did I mention they had the jams in rotation. Again, who was on the aux because I need the playlist?! Prices for menu items were reasonable and worth it. I had a little moment when I realized the chef herself served us our plates and checked into see how everything was going. Like come on how cool was that! Overall, great experience and yes I'll be back for a dozen boudin balls. Big S/o to our servers/ bartenders Ashlee and Kia for the hospitality and customer service. Keep up the good work! The last time we drove out that way for an influencer-recommended place, it was just okay. Not quite worth the trip. This place? Totally different story. The food was super good. Service was a little slow at the start, but the drinks were solid and everything we ordered hit. We had the cornbread skillet with berry butter, the gumbo pot pie, fried chicken and waffles with the peach cobbler butter, and the ribeye with both the creamy Creole sauce and the jerk butter. Also tried the fried catfish and grits. Everything was seriously fire. The only miss was the fried chicken--it had great flavor, but came out a bit lukewarm and not as crispy as we'd hoped. If it had come out fresh and hot, it would've been perfect. Still, this place is absolutely worth checking out. Closest thing we've had in the Bay that reminds us of New Orleans. Highly recommend.

For their prices, I was expecting something more close to soul food style mac n cheese (even a Popeyes' like version would've been okay enough). No crispness, but more of a limp, soft exterior. 3. Their chicken, plus the friendly service saved the review from being 1 stars. Out of everything on my platter, it was the only thing that actually tasted fresh & not reheated. The skin was crispy with a juicy interior. It had a spicy kick to it that wasn't too overbearing. Overall, I'd say their chicken is worth the price. It's the sides (from my experience) that could be better.

Out of everything I ordered, only the fish trom the second plate was decent. The rice was extremely hard, as if it wasn't cooked properly. The gravy had an unpleasant taste and ended up being poured over everything, including the macaroni and cheese, which made it difficult to enjoy. The yams were cut into huge chunks with little care or presentation. The biggest disappointment was the short ribs. The meat quality was very poor, with an unpleasant taste and texture that made it nearly impossible to eat. I was genuinely shocked by how bad it was. For the amount of money I spent, I expected much better quality, preparation, and presentation. Nothing was separated properly, and the meal felt rushed and carelessly put together. I am very disappointed, especially since this was supposed to be a Father's Day meal.
